Convert cda music file to mp3?

Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!!

Just exactly how did you create this file? AFAIK Matt is right: the cda file is not an actual music file, but rather a file on a CD that instructs the player on using the CD. See this:
http://www.coolutils.com/Formats/CDA
On a Mac you would put the CD in in the drive and then tell iTunes to import the track.

Yes, of course it is legal.
To convert the format, follow one of these documents:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Save a copy of a song in a new file format
iTunes 11 for Mac: Save a copy of a song in a new file format
Also note that you have the option of buying your files in MP3 format in the first place, from Amazon MP3 or other online retailers.  MP3 files will work in iTunes as well as virtually every other player, program, and device.

  • How do I convert .dcf audio files to mp3 so i sync...

    HI
I have an 5230 and have just got a USB cable so am able to connect with Nokia PC Suite and also Nokia Ovi Suite.
I have bee able to send all my music files over to the computer but some of them won't play as they .dcf files and this computer can't open them without the appropriate software which it does not have, (FYI - it plays fine on the phone and shows in the ovi music player libarary).  I have looked on google for software to convert the .dcf file to mp3 but as yet have not found one that will convert from this file type.
Has anyone else had this same problem and do you know how to fix it or where to download convertor programme that will work?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

  • CONVERTING .WMA SOUND FILES TO MP3s ON A  MAC

    CONVERTING .WMA SOUND FILES TO
    MP3s ON A MAC - Written 9/28/07
Here's some help on how to convert .WMA sound
files to MP3 sound files on a Mac. Hope it helps.
    1. Open the .WMA sound file in Quicktime.
    2. In the Quicktime menu tool bar, go to FILE and
    select SAVE AS.
    3. Save the .WMA sound file as a self-contained
movie .MOV file. Then create a folder on your desktop
to store the .MOV files that you created.
    4. Open iTunes and create a new playlist by
going into FILE in the iTunes menu toolbar and
select NEW PLAYLIST. Then name your playlist.
    5. From the folder created on the desktop,
drag the .MOV files into the specific playlist you
    created in iTunes.
    6. In the specific playlist you created in iTunes,
highlight the .MOV files with your mouse. Then go
to the iTunes menu toolbar and select ADVANCED.
    7. In ADVANCED, select CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3**.
Then wait for the iTunes' "ding noise" to let you know the files
    have been all converted.
**To have CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3
    listed in ADVANCED:
    (a) To have CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3 listed in
ADVANCED, go into iTUNES in the iTunes menu
    toolbar and select PREFERENCES.
    (b) In PREFERENCES, select the ADVANCED icon. In
the ADVANCED icon menu, click on IMPORTING.
    (c) In the IMPORTING menu, go to the IMPORT USING line.
Now scroll down and select MP3 ENCODER. The click
    on the OK button.
    8. After the .MOV files have been converted to MP3 sound files,
erase the .MOV files listed in the specific playlist you created.
    9. Take your mouse and click on the MUSIC icon in the LIBRARY section.
Now in the LIBRARY section, search for the converted files.
Once the converted files are found, be sure to highlight one at
a time-- you'll be making sure which ones are mp3s and which are not.
    10. Once a converted file is highlighted, go into FILE in the iTunes
menu toolbar. Click on GET INFO and check which files are
.MOV or MP3 files. Delete each .MOV file found.
    11. Now you're left with the converted MP3 files in the LIBRARY.
Highlight and drag all the converted MP3 files from the LIBRARY to your
specific playlist you created. Now you're done! Enjoy your
    new MP3s!

There is no solution for playing and coverting DRM-protected WMA files on a Mac. I don't even know of a way to covert DRM-protected WMA files on a PC; you normally have to reimport them from the CDs, or when purchased from a download store burn them to an audio CD (where allowed).

  • It's 2013 and I want to convert AIFF audio files to MP3s

It’s 2013 and I want to convert .AIFF audio files to .MP3 files on my Mac.
I created some sound files as .MOVs for a band’s website but that format doesn’t work for some Windows OS users who refuse to fetch a QuickTime plugin for their Explorer or Firefox internet browser…("don’t make them think; it either works or it doesn’t.")
I have been told that MP3 audio files are still the most common audio files on the web and I want the band’s music to be in the most-accessible format.
    Thanks,
    Ron
Also, this is my first Apple Support question and I would appreciate being pointed to the most appropriate forum(s).

Thanks, Joe, that was very useful!
For other people with my problem I should add some of the missing puzzle pieces —
    1) A while ago I loaded the songs from the band’s CD onto a previous, now dead, Mac laptop (with a previous Mac OS) and used QuickTime 7 to create down-sampled (and smaller) .mov files. Then I deleted the original .aif files from that computer.
    2) Now (back to the present) I wanted the .aif audio files on my new computer to convert them, but the computer doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive. My solution was to use my partner’s iMac.
    3) I inserted the CD into the iMac’s drive, clicked "no" to iTunes’ dialog asking if I wanted to import them, created a folder on the desktop, then opened the CD folder on the desktop and copied the songs into the newly-created folder.
    4) I copied the new .aif files to a thumbdrive then deleted the .aifs from the iMac.
    5) I put the copied thumbdrive .aif songs onto my MacBook Pro Retina (where I had changed iTunes Preferences to MP3) then I 'dropped' the sound file icons onto the iTunes icon in the dock.
    5) In iTunes I right-clicked on the songs and chose "Create MP3 Version".
    6) Next, I right-clicked on the MP3s in iTunes and chose "Show in Finder". This opened another folder (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Unknown Artist/Unknown Album/), revealing the MP3s.
    7) I created duplicates of the MP3s and moved them to my band's media folder (and will put them on the website after renaming them and editing their webpage for the new audio filenames).
    8) Finally, I will delete the .aif and .mp3 songs from my iTunes, using iTunes' interface to ensure it doesn’t get confused.
Sheesh. but I’m still happy to not have a CD/DVD drive on my MacBook Pro. I very rarely use CDs and a drive on the laptop would add bulk and weight while being mostly useless.

  • Why can't I convert a music file to a podcast?

Just updated to iTunes 11.  When I try to convert a music file into a podcast (it is a 3 hour file) it changes it right back to music?  Is this a bug and is there another way to do it?
    Thanks!

For the time being it worked making it an audiobook, though now I can't use the new Podcast app for it....lame!

There has to be another way.
    No, there isn't.
You can use a CD-RW instead of CD-R.
It will not play on most CD-players, but should play fine on your computer.

  • How do I convert my music to an mp3 file and then email it?

    Hi!
Can someone tell me how to convert my music I loaded on itunes to an mp3 file, and then how to email this file,
so someone can open it and hear it, e tc?
    thanks!
    Maggie
    [email protected]

Set the iTunes Import preference to MP3, select the track, and then choose the Convert menu command. Then attach it to the email using whatever method or command your email application uses.
Note that it will be illegal to send this track to someone else unless they already have purchased a copy or it's a track that you composed and performed yourself.

  • How do I convert "PROTECTED" MPeg4 Files to MP3?

    Hello,
I've reviewed the replies regarding converting Mpeg4 files to MP3. I downloaded 65 songs from the itunes store all of which are in the Mpeg4 format. After reading the responses to previous enquiries on this subject I followed this procedure:
    Go to Edit/Preferences/Importing tab/Import Using, select MP3 Encoder/OK
This all went smmothly, but when selecting all the files I wanted to convert to MP3 a message displayed stating this could not be done due to the files being "Protected".
Therefore, can anyone please tell me is there a way around this? I have a Digital MP3 IItronics player 256m. Or have apple protected these song files so they can only be used with ipods?
Any feed-back at all would be very much appreciated.
I need my music to jog in the gym and my CD player just isnt doing it for me anymore LOL
    Thank you,
    Sara

Hi Sara, welcome to Apple Discussions!
By the book, permitted uses for purchases songs include playback in iTunes, playback on an iPod, and burning them to an audio CD.
Of course, once you have an audio CD you can, well, treat it just like any other audio CD...

  • Convert m4P & m4a files to mp3

Hi there, I tried to burn a music CD in MP3 format with some files from iTunes library but it did not work. Some files are in m4p (purchased) the others in m4a format.
Any suggestions ? I even downloaded some free/trial ware to convert files but with no luck so far. What's the best, most secure, fast and easiest way ?
    Erwin

iTunes can only burn an MP3 disc from files that are already in MP3 format.
Going forward, you should either buy your songs in MP3 format from online retailers who sell MP3s, or buy iTunes Plus AACs and convert them to MP3.
iTunes protected tracks in .m4p format cannot be converted, but you can check out the one-time upgrade to iTunes Plus.

  • Changing wma music files to mp3?

I am transferring songs from my PC to my mac and some are wma files that I need to change to mp3 so that I can put them in my itunes library and add them to my ipod. Itunes won't open wma music files on my mac....does anyone know how to transfer them from wma to mp3? (I tried clicking on "get info" and just changing from .wma to .mp3, but that didn't work....I need to convert somehow)
    Thanks so much!

Use EasyWMA to convert them. iTunes will not do this in Mac OS X, and no Mac software will if the WMA is protected.
