Convert Files to Play on ipod in windows

Hi i just got an ipod video, and i have windows xp pro....right now i want to put a video onto my ipod right now it is in mpg format, so i cannot put it on the ipod....how do i convert this...i just bought quicktime pro, because apple said that will convert it to the right format, but i cant even open mpg on quiktimepro in order to export it as mov...so can someone tell me a program that will convert it to the correct format so i can watch on my ipod...thanks guys and merry christmas!!!

I'm not sure what programs I can use to convert .mod movie files to play on my iPod. Is iTunes capable of doing .mod files? I've also had a history of trying to convert other files using iTunes and not getting the files to transfer to the iPod properly, although I will try again if iTunes will convert the file.

I have never been able to get Handbrake to recognize many file formats, at least not the version that runs on Tiger.
MPEGStreamclip; you need to export the file. I don't have an ipod so I don't know what format.
My feeling is that you might get more concrete assistance if you asked this on an ipod forum. At least there everybody will likely own one. On the other hand they may therefore also be able to afford the newest computers and tell you to run something on a newer OS.

Converting .wmv,.rm files to play in IPOD

Is there any way to convert .wmv files or .rm files to enable to play in IPOD 5th generation.
I tried all possibilities to convert using the latest version on Itune, but it couldnt be loaded into the Itune nor in IPOD
Pls throw some light on this issue

Just burn all the songs you want in iTunes on a CD as if you wanted to bring it in a car or something. Just click "burn" in Windows Media Player or Real. So, then you'll have just a regular audio CD like any other you may have burnt. iTunes will treat it as just a regular CD and allow you to import all the songs.
If you don't have much experience burning CDs, I can explain that in more detail, but continue to post.

Problem converting .mov file to play on ipod

I have a 880x660 pixel .mov file that I would like to convert to play on my nano 3rd gen. When I open the file in Quicktime Pro 7.4.1 (registered) all the edit menu items (save, save as, share, export...) are grayed out. How can I convert this file to play on my ipod?

Compressor 3 and later will create MPEG-2 Program Stream files.

Converting vidoes to play on iPod?

Hi. I use itunes 8. According to the instruction itunes has to convert the movie into a format copmpatible with the iPod. (that is MPEG 4). When iTunes converts the vidoe file to MPEG 4 all the audio is lost. I only see the picture when I play the converted version. What can I do to solve this problem?

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

Converting Video to play on iPod

I have a Windows system with XP Media Center software. I am trying to take shows recorded and convert them to play on my video iPod. Recorded shows are saved with a *.dvr-ms extension. Is there any way to convert this to an iPod-ready format? I tried Videora iPod Converter, but after 2+ hours trying to convert over a 1/2 hour show, I gave up. Has anyone else done this? Any tips?

Converting videos to play on ipod video

I can export my videos to the correct format using the latest Quicktime Pro, but there is no sound when I play them back on the ipod. Any ideas?

QT will not export the sound from muxed mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files and will not play or export variable bit rate mp3 sound in avi files. Try this freeware for converting those kinds of files:

Converting videos to play on iPod takes away sound

For some reason, every time I convert a video in iTunes to play on my iPod, the sound is removed. The original video and the converted video will both play in iTunes, and the original video will have the sound and the converted video will not. Obviously, when I move the converted video to the iPod, the sound still doesn't play.
I've downloaded a few video podcasts (the Strong Bad e-mails) in iPod format already, and they work just fine. It's just ones I convert manually in iTunes that have this problem.

Quicktime doesn't play "muxed" video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter such as Handbrake, or MPEG Streamclip to convert the video file.
The file must meet the following specifications to play correctly.
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

QuickTime Pro question: converting files to play on digicam?

Will QuickTime Pro import other formats (.mpg, .wmv) and output a .mov file that will play on my digital camera (Kodak C663) ? Here is what the camera creates for a .mov file, so I assume it will play this:

I'm not going to spend $30 if this won't do what I need it to. It's a **** expensive way to get the "Get Quick Time Pro Now" nag screen out of my computer if it won't help otherwise.

Converting Videos to play on iPod

Nero6 Recoder does the best job of converting videos, video files or DVD movies. Use the Sony PSP presets. It's fast. The video and audio quality is great and in sync. A 90 min. movie will convert in about an hour.

Is it easier to use than Videora is? Heh. Do you happen to have a link on you? Is it free? facepalm I ask too many questions >_< Sorry ^-^

Your Zen probably does not play protected AAC (.m4p and .m4b files). As you can not convert protected files due to DRM, your only option is to burn purchased music on an Audio CD and re-import them as MP3.

I have a bunch of songs on my computer that I am not able to update to my iPod. I have all these folders full of songs that look like this:

Does anyone know of a free program that will convert these?

When I "Convert Selection For iPod" the converted file has no audio.HELP!!!

I have tried many times but the converted file always ends up with no audio.
The files I am trying to convert are just basic Windows Media Player video/movie files each under 1GB.

I have the same audio problem with .mov to .m4v conversion. The .mov conversions worked fine before, now audio is bad in .m4v - both in itunes & on ipod. I tried the sample_iTunes.mov & it is garbled too, upon conversion in itunes.
This audio problem happened once before in Quicktime when playing podcast videos on Quicktime on a different computer, then it cleared up.
I have no answers. Is it the new itunes 7.5.0.20 & windows?
