Convert Flash file to .mpg or .mov?

Hi, I'm just learning Flash on my Macbook and have been
having a great time making my first 3-minute animation (using
mostly frame-by-frame redraws with a few motion tweens and
alpha-fade symbols in background layers). The sound layer is a .wav
file recording of a 5-verse song, and I was able to copy-frames and
paste a lot for the main animation layers because many of the main
actions repeated with each verse. I recruited musician friends to
sing for the soundtrack and everyone was very excited for the final
result. The thing is, the project is a current-events response and
the idea was to post it to YouTube so that all our friends and
family could see it and forward it before the election -- wait too
long and it won't be that funny anymore because it won't be
relevant.
However, when I finished it all and had it playing perfectly
in my .swf files, I went to export it and ran into two problems:
1. First, Youtube requires uploads to be in either .avi,
.wmp, .mpg, or .mov format. In the "Export movie..." dialogue box,
Quicktime format is the only option given that would produce one of
Youtube's required formats, the .mov file. But when that export was
complete, I viewed the movie in the Quicktime player and found that
the audio and the visual were completely out of synch. That was the
first problem.
2. Desperate, I gave up on my master final file and resigned
myself to using an earlier saved version of the .fla that did
produce a synchronized .mov file. But when I uploaded that to
YouTube, the result was visual torture. Instead of a video, what
played was a slide show -- while the sound played at normal speed,
the animation was only stills: one image would fill the window and
freeze, and then another would replace it a bit later, and so on,
skipping the 50 to 100 frames between each frame that did appear.
No singing rabbits, no grinning governors...
I don't know if the problem is something to do with adjusting
frame rates, or if it's about finding the right converter, but if
anyone can help, I'd be very grateful! A friend was able to put the
.swf file up on his website temporarily, so if it's helpful you may
be able to see it at
http://cremonea.net/images/flash/mcpalin.swf
Thanks,
Gillian

I got a great reply to the conversion question when I asked
it again a couple of days later. The answer is
HERE.

  • How do I convert MP4 file to AVI or MOV using MacBook Pro (2010)

I am 10.6.4 new user on a new MacBook Pro. This is my first Mac computer.
I want to convert a MP4 video file to AVI or MOV file type. How would I do this on my new Mac? Documentation says I have Quicktime X, but I cannot find Quicktime X on my system. When I try to load Quicktime 7 Pro, my system says I have Quicktime X and cannot load Pro. Apple websites say Pro version will allow me to convert the MP4 files. Anyone have any experience or ideas on what I should do? How do I find Quicktime X? Will it do the conversion for me? Thanks

Use MPEG Streamclip, or open the QuickTime Player from the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, installing this software if needed.

  • How do I convert music files so I can move this from laptop to iPhone?

I purchases some music from Buymusic.com that I have stored on my laptop in the Windows Media Player; the music files are .wpl - not sure what that means. When I attempt to move this music to my iPhone I get a message that indicates I have to convert the files. From iTunes I selected File, add file to library and I selected the artist from my play list. Am I doing this correctly or am I jacked up? This is where I'm told the files must be converted. I have over 200 songs I'm trying to move. Thanks,
PS - Not a technical person - all this computer stuff is new to me, so please give it to me in the simpliest form. Thanks.

  • Exporting Flash Files (which contain embedded movie clips) to Quicktime!

Since the recent Quicktime upgrade to 7.1.3 I have had trouble with the
animations I've made in Flash and exported to Quicktime. Most of the time,
my flash animations require flash movie clips embeded in the flash timeline.
In the past, when I have exported these flash animations as Quicktime files,
there is no problems, but now, since the upgrade, the export does not play
back properly, and it is obvious that Quicktime is unhappy with these
embedded clips within the flash timeline. Is there a way around this
problem? A way for me to maintain embedded movie clips in my timeline and
still export a working Quicktime file!?!

I've never mastered Flash but I know a lot about how QuickTime works.
I do know that some Flash features are limited to specific "publish" versions and some newer ones are not supported in older publish states.
Could you export two files (background and focus object) and test the actions?
QuickTime uses "layers" (lower layer numbers are on the "top"). Adding multiple layers to a .mov file is easy with Pro but Flash tracks that contain mouse actions must be on the top layer. If the track layer is behind another it may still appear (via transparency) but not be able to hold mouse actions.

  • How to convert video file from mpg to 3g2?

I am using final cut express and I tried to add a few video files. The formats with 3g2 worked but the others that did not work were mpg. With the mpg files the actual video worked but the audio did not show up. I do not know how to convert them.. please help?!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Where did this video come from? FCE uses QuickTime files with specific frame sizes/rates and codecs. You can convert many other types of files so they're FCE-compatible using utilities such as MPEG Streamclip (which is free).

  • Converting flash to mp4 (or mov)

does anyone know of a FREE program that can convert flash files to mp4 (or .mov)?
    thank you if you do!

Most serious mac users would have this excellent and free program - MPEG Streamclip.
You can get it here also from the downloads section of this Apple site:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Download the beta version 1.9.3b2 and you will be able to directly download YouTube videos (File > Open URL).
Otherwise just drag your file into the MPEG window then click on File > Export to QuickTime.
From the first choice (compression) choose Apple Intermediate Codec.
Leave all else alone until you get a handle on it.
Choose a destination for your video then you will be able to import it into iMovie: File > Import > Movies...
    Z.

  • How to convert FLASH for iBooks?

    Hi,
How to convert FLASH files to add them into iBooks?
Could Compressor 4 convert .FLA to MP4 or other format that iBooksAuthor accept?
    Thank you~

Did you contact Adobe Support to  get advice on a converstion or dealing with HTML5? If not you should they are pretty good at sorting out what we lesser mortals see as mind bending  problems.
Adobe Media Encoder appears to have the  option you require, although I have never used it myself to convert a Flash file.
I have  used it to convert the Flv files  into MP4  which also gives convert options suitable for use on iPads and other  gizmo's
Another ( in desperation ) way is use "Snagit" if you have it or a similar screen grabber that offers "movie recordings"  - Run your Flash file and  run the screen grab.. in video mode and the output is mp4.
I  just tried it on a Google ad and its seems to work OK.

  • Importing Flash Files

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I tried getting answers on the Adobe Forums with no luck. I'm trying to get my Flash files saved as Quicktime movies so that I can move those to iMovie 8. Basically, I want to be able to put my animated clip into iMovie to go along with the rest of my main video. I've tried exporting my flash file as a quicktime movie file, but the quality is awful. The animation is laggy and I have a lot of static around the images. Could anyone help me, please? I'm also going to post this in the iMovie forum in case this is the wrong area. I have Flash CS4 and iMovie8. Thank you!

Not until you provide us w/which OS version you have before any recommendations can be made.
As far as free ones, check them all out for yourself. Be sure to read the _system requirements._ Some may not work w/your current OS system.
To check on your work computer..............
    Apple>About This Mac
The window that opens will tell you which version OS you are currently using.

  • Converting CDR file to MP4 file

    Hi All
How do I convert CDR file to MPEG-4 movie file?
    regards

    Den
    Thanks for your reply.
It seems I will have to convert from Video_TS file to MP4 file (as the option from CDR file to MP4 is not available on Handbrake). This is okay.
When converting to MP4 file on handbrake what are the choices I need to make?
Format: here I have chosen MP4
Codecs: Here I have chosen MPEG-4 Video / AAC Audio
    Framerate: Same as source
    Encoder: FFmpeg
    Under Quality
Target Size (MB): Nothing is filled here
    Average Bitrate kbps: 1500
    Constant Quality: 50%
GrayScale Encoding: This is not ticked
    2-pass encoding: This is ticked
    Are these choices okay?

  • Convert flash QT.mov to WMV or MPG

    Please help!
Does anyone know the simplest way to convert a flash
animation Quicktime movie to WMV or MPG?
This is a rush, I'm working under deadline. Originally, I was
    told QT.mov was acceptable format.
Now, I'm being told that their server can only handle WMV or
MPG. When they tried to convert the
QT file it was converted without the audio track. I've tried
to download serveral of the free shareware converters -- no luck.
(either corrupted or some glitch occurs or company logo is
    embedded in converted file).
I know AE (AfterEffects) to some degree and I believe I can
export to WMV of MPG there. But this is a huge file,
trying to download it now at a cybercafe with two T1 lines --
    still it's "watching paint dry".
    Please anybody, any suggestions, please.
    Thank you.

I think the simpliest way converting flash into video - use
    Flash To Video
    Encoder.
    recommendation for
    Adobe Premiere
    is a good one too

  • Need help converting quicktime movies into Flash files

I need to convert a QT, PhotoJPEG compressed, movie file into a .flv format. I have AE 6.5 Standard and it keeps quitting on exporting a SWV file which would could probably get me by with my client. But, again, it errors out saying something like a JPG is busy, or a file is busy.
I have FlipforMac,a purchased version. But I'm not sure if converting it into a .wmv and then a Flash file is the best route or is even possible.
Any suggestions or ideas of software that I could purchase??
    ~reicko

i don't think you have read up on the use of flash video
(FLV). there's nothing you need that you do
not already have (except maybe quicktime pro or some other
video editing program). the FLV exporter
comes FREE with flash 8. You should be able to open your
quicktime movie in QT PRO and export to FLV
format - then use any of the flash playback components for
FLV files - best bet is to read the help
docs on this subject and go to the devnet section of
adobe.com where there are several in-depth
articles about implementing flash video into your site.

  • How can I convert rm file to .mov?

    Hi,guys
Can anyone tell me what software is used for converting RM file to MOV file?
    Thanks

    I had the same issue, however I used this program to transfer ...avi,mpg,wma..etc...;
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
I'm pasting this from the Videora site, the settings worked for me when others didn't, enjoy:
    Configuring videora converter
    0) Start Videora iPod converter.
    1) Click setup in the left nav.
    1.5) Click the profiles tab.
    2) Click new profile.
    3) Now, configure that profile:
    profile name: ipod
    in the video settings section...
    mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    resolution: 320x240
    passes: one
bitrate: 768 kbps (384 kbps also works)
    framerate: 29.97 fps
    in the audio settings section...
    bitrate: 128 kbps
    sample rate: Input
    channels: stereo
    4) Click apply to save the profile.
    Now, you're ready to transcode.
    1) Click convert on the left nav.
    2) Click the transcode new video button.
    3) Pick your source video. Mine was an AVI from a torrent.
    4) Under quality profile, choose "ipod", the profile you created using the steps above.
    5) Click start.
Now you're ready to get the video on your ipod
    1) In iTunes, under the File menu, select add file to library. Find the transcoded one. By default, the transcoded videos pop out under the Videora install directory.
    2) Drag and drop to your ipod.
    Questions/observations:
    1) I haven't been able to get H264 anything to work. Is it broken? How much smaller than MPEG4 is it?
    2) 768 kbps video was about 400 megs/hour; 384 kbps video was about 231 megs/hour. I could readily see a difference in video quality.

  • Converting video to flash file (newbie ?)

Hi I was trying to convert an 14 mb mpeg 4 video file to an FLV file using the flash encoder.  The resulting flash file to my surprise was 18 MB
I was expecting a very small file that I could post on the web.  Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong.  Im using the CS3 version.
I also need to convert .MOV files.  Do I need a separate conversion software tool?

Sorenson Squeeze has a "watch folder" option, so they
probably have it set up to automatically convert from the upload
    folder into a destination folder.

  • Convert .band file to Flash? Any workarounds?

I'm a podcaster, and typically upload my podcasts to iWeb and iTunes. Periodically I send out mass mailings to my listeners letting them know a new podcast is up.
Currently I am enjoying a new service where I can embed video or audio files into an attractive template/announcement that's sent via email. But it has to be a FLASH file. I have many conversion programs... I can even get Quicktime into Flash. But I can't figure out how to convert a .band file into anything....Through iTunes I can get a .wav or .aiff file, but the corresponding "enhanced podcast" images never seem to appear...just the audio file.
I have Final Cut Pro, but have never managed to get a .band file into a format that FCP would accept.
Anyone have a workaround/workflow idea? I don't mind exporting, converting, importing, re-exporting between Garageband, iTunes, FCP, etc., then out to my media converter into Flash. I just can't figure out how get a. band file into a format where the visuals stay with it.
    Can you?????

.band is not a file format it is a package folder that contains media and data instruction files. If your podcast has both audio and video or images I would try doing the project a movie project that will export as a quicktime movie for converting to flash.
Also make sure it is short, flash can become very big and many people don't like media playing in there email. And most windows users will have antivirus software that will filter media files.
