  • How to convert iTunes (9.1.1) from AAC to MP3 for SansaDisk Fuze+?

I want to download iTunes to Sansadisk Fuze+  using PowerBook G4 OS10.4.11 and iTunes 9.1.1
There is no option to convert from AAC to MP3.  The files are encoded with iTunes 8.1 which does not offer an option to convert files.

  • Difference between AAC and m4a files, converting from AAC to useable format

Does anyone know the difference between AAC and m4a files? iTunes has an option to use an AAC encoder to compress CD files, but this creates an m4a file not an AAC file. I just got some actual AAC files and iTunes cannot read these, is there a way to convert from AAC to a format that iTunes recognizes? Thanks

iTunes uses AAC data wrapped in an MPEG 4 container file. If you got some *.AAC files, and they're just raw AAC files, then you need to wrap them in an MPEG 4 container. The only way I know to do this is using the foobar 2000 program. You can find more information at http://www.hydrogenaudio.org and http://www.foobar2000.org

  • Why won't my playlists convert from aac to mp3

    Hi,
Never had to use the forum before as I've always previosuly been able to figure most stuff out that I needed to do, but I recently converted my whole music library from AAC format to MP3 (so that I can burn an MP3 disc to play in my car) with no problem using the "Advanced" tab and "Convert to MP3 format" tab.
(I've also changed my settings now so that all downloads are set to MP3 as well to stop this happening ever again!.)
However, I then tried to do the same for my playlists, but it just doesn't work for those using the "Convert to MP3 format" facility - even though it doers actually give the impression of doing so. i.e. It appears to be converting the songs and I even get a confimation tone when it's suppossedly finished converting the playlist, but the playlist still shows it's "Kind" as AAC,  and hasn't converted it at all!
The only way that I can find to do it is to delete the playlist (after printing out a copy of the playlist) and then manually re-creating the whole playlist again by dragging each song individually from the library! Which I obviously don't really want to do as I've got a lot of playlists and that would be very laborious and would quite frankly be a ridiclous thing to have to do again (especially after doing it already for the library).
Am I missing something here, expecting too much or just being thick?? Any one have a solution for this please?

Thank you, absolutely brilliant, I knew there had to be an easier way to do this!!! And also thank you so much for the really quick response too!
It took me less than a minute to do this for the first playlist and I'll now easily be able to do the same for all the other playlists - saving me potentially hours if I'd had to do it using the other way.
In case anyone is unaware, there is one further little tip once you have converted the playlist from AAC to MP3 and sorted by "Date Added". Press and hold Shift, then highlight (the first song) and scroll to the last song (which will then highlight all the songs that you've just converted) and then simply drag them to a new playlist - voila, job done!

  • Export a playlist (to Desktop or Document Folder.  Convert from AAC to MP3

It seems that in an earlier version of Itunes I was able to export a playlist (a list of song names of a CD I had just burned), and then import that list ito a CD label printing program (Discus, epson;s Print CD). This capability saves a ton of keystrokes and , to me, seems like a fairly simple capability to include in Itunes.
Also I would like to know if there is a way to convert audio (AAC ?) files to MP3 three files (for files that are already in your Itunes library?

    1. You can select a playlist and use File > Library > Export Playlist to get a text file.

  • Converting from Entourage to Mail for Mac on OS 10.5.6

Can anyone give me tips on how to convert from Entourage 2008 for Mac to Mail for Mac. I am on version 10.5.6 OS. Also, I have some files on Outlook (windows PC) that I want to move over to the mail including old emails, addresses, etc.
Any tips with specific instructions and other hints as to what to consider that won't transfer would be appreciated

    OK
    Scenario 1
    (assumes Mobile Me membership)
Set up Apple Mail in your Mac Pro, iMac, ... and set preferences in Mobile Me to include email stuff
Login to MacBook Pro, Air, ... other iMac, other Mac Pro > enter mobile me stuff there and Bongo! Apple Mail on the second machine synchronizes with stuff set in Apple Mail on first machine.
Turn on the iPhone > Bongo! iPhone Mail will show the same email accounts as on the other two machines described above.
One does not need to re-enter stuff for the sake of it. Mobile Me makes it easy.
On the second machine create a new email account or add an existing one to Apple Mail > Bongo! Details updated on the first machine and also on iPhone.
    Scenario 2
(assumes preferences set in Mobile Me for calendars and contacts)
Create new contacts in each of the three machines (that is the first machine, the second machine and the iPhone) > Bongo! Details will be synched across all three machines (okay, iPhone calls them contacts and the other machines call it Address Book but ... )
Create appointments in Calendar or iCal in ... well, they are synched as well.
    Scenario 3
On a PC, away from each of the three machines detailed above. Need contacts and calendars (yes, iCal and iPhone calendar support multiple calendars with an overview summary of all, yep, ALL calendars.
Fire up Safari on the PC (Safari 4 seems sweet) > go to www.me.com > enter username and password of Mobile Me account > Bongo!
I suppose it may also be a time thing in sense that many people, self included, might recall a time when every calendar needed every detail keying in (other computer operating systems running different applications). Sure there were import/export utilities or thunks bet these tended to be at variance with each other regarding ordering of data fields, field parameters and in my own experience a bad import though swift was less reliable than re-keying in the details.

  • QT errors when converting from mp4 to wma

    Hi there.
I need to convert several mp4 files to WMA for an online class I'm teaching. I have QT Pro and do an export of the movie to Windows Media but it only converts part (the first 30-60 seconds) of the file. How do I convert the whole thing?
    Thank you!

Spend some money on one of the upgrades as you are only using the "trial" version of that third party software.
QuickTime Pro can't create WMP formats without it.

  • Converting from AAC 320kbps to a lower bitrate

I know its always best to go to the .wav files and start fresh, but I can't seem to find it, so all I have are the AAC 320kbps files. But it's not music that I like enough to let take up that kind of space, so I want to put it down to 160. Any ideas on the best way? I'm just going to convert down to AAC 160 thru iTunes.

Yeah I'm a musician and somewhat of an audiophile, mixed in with a little OCD and wether I can hear it or not my mind will tell the difference! lol
I'm just wondering technically, digitally or whateverally if there is a difference in the file, or if its the same.
lets say going from .wav, which contains 5 units of quality, to 160 which contains 3 units of quality is a step of 2. Now 320 contains 4 units. So is it the same amount of data removed regardless of what the starting point is? Like .wav to 160 is 2 units removed, and going from 320 to 160 is only one unit removed?
In other words will that 160 file taken from 320 be the same as if it was taken from a .wav??
I'm not trying to start some personal banter of who can hear what, I'm just looking for the technical aspects of whats removed when converting file types.
    Ideas?
    Thanks

  • Convert from String to Date for storing in SQL Server 2000

    Hi,
I've accepted some values from a user using a form in HTML.Now using Servlets I transfer the value to my java code .
I want to know how can I convert a DATE accepted from the user thats presently in "String" format to the "datetime" format for SQL Server2000.
Please guide me with some steps and I shall be grateful.
    Thanks

The java.text.SImpleDateFormat class is most probably of use.
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
    String enteredDate = "25/12/2006";
    java.util.Date utilDate = sdf.parse(enteredDate);
java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime());You can then use the java.sql.Date with the "setDate()" method of a prepared statement. This method would be database independant, as you are setting an actual date, not depending on a specific format on the database end.

  • Converting from a shuffle to a nano

    Hi
Just got a Nano the other day and already have the latest version of itunes on my notebook < running windows xp> and I have been able to load songs onto the shuffle for the last yr. Now I want to load them onto the Nano and I'm not getting anywhere. Shouldn't it just be the same? Shouldn't I be able to just go to the itunes store and buy and load? What about the songs I already have? Shouldn't I be able to put them on the Nano? Or is there something else I need to do to transfer from using a Shuffle to using a Nano? Getting verrrrrrrry frustrated.
    Thank you!

  • Converting video files to mp4 for nano 3rd gen

I'm trying to find a quick, easy, hassle free way of converting video files such as mpg and avi to mp4 so that i can watch them on my new ipod nano.
Anyone got any suggestions and ideas?

    Ricktoronto and others,
Thanks for all the advice! I do have MPEG Streamclip and I'd thought about it, but have not really used it all that much. I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at it but just did now and see that you convert to Quicktime and in there, you select Apple MPEG-4 and do all your adjustments. Now my version says that it will convert to H264. Does that function not work right?
The bottom line though is I ended up returning the Video iPod. The biggest drawback is the fact that it does not have Firewire as all I have are Macs with USB 1.1. I could upgrade my Blue & White G3 and put a USB 2.0 card in it but that machine would be REAL slow to convert video. And my iMac of course, can't be upgraded. If I had USB 2.0 or the iPod had Firewire, I would have kept it....
Still, I'll mess with the conversion programs and see what works best. I'll figure out how to do everything and then once I'm up to speed, maybe consider getting one.

  • Batch Converted from AAC to MP3

    Hello All
I need some help. I have all my music collection on Itunes and Ipod ( around 90gb ). I am gonna need to converted my whole library to MP3 in an external HD. Which software would you guys recommend ?
I am looking for a software where I can select the entire library and let it do all by itself. I dont want to select album by album, set the output location every time I need to convert a file, album or a band.
    Any help will be appreciated.

you can try versiontracker as suggested. you can also try using itunes for this although it might be a little tricky. first of all itunes won't let you convert DRM protected tracks you bought at itunes store. it also dumps the converted files right in the library. this might be unpleasant with as many songs as you have. Not sure what's the best way to deal with that. you can try moving the whole itunes library to the external first and do conversion there.
anyway. to do it in itunes you first go to itunes preferences->advanced->importing and set importing format to MP3. Now slect any number of songs in itunes, control-click and choose 'convert selection to mp3. you can do it to the whole library if you want but it will error out on protected titles. as I said it will dump the converted songs right back into the library.
you can then open itunes library folder in finder and search for mp3 items.

  • Convert to MP3 from AAC

how do I convert file in iTunes from AAC to MP3 for use elsewhere?

Note that this method only works on unprotected AAC files, as might result from ripping a CD.
If you have (unwisely) purchased any Protected AAC files from the iTunes Music Store, they cannot be converted. All you can do with them is use iTunes to burn them to an audio CD.
