  • Converting from WAV to MP3 using Creative MediaSou

I am trying to convert from WAV to MP3 using Creative Media Source Version 3.30.35. The program says it is converting the file to MP3 but when it has finished and I examine the properties it still says the file format is WAV. Can anyone shed any light on this, thanks?

It doesn't change the original file - it creates a new file in the new format. Check where your file destination is set to in the Audio Converter screen.

  • Difference between AAC and m4a files, converting from AAC to useable format

Does anyone know the difference between AAC and m4a files? iTunes has an option to use an AAC encoder to compress CD files, but this creates an m4a file not an AAC file. I just got some actual AAC files and iTunes cannot read these, is there a way to convert from AAC to a format that iTunes recognizes? Thanks

iTunes uses AAC data wrapped in an MPEG 4 container file. If you got some *.AAC files, and they're just raw AAC files, then you need to wrap them in an MPEG 4 container. The only way I know to do this is using the foobar 2000 program. You can find more information at http://www.hydrogenaudio.org and http://www.foobar2000.org

  • CONVERT from iTunes to other FORMATS (AAC, AIFF, MP3, WAV)

Came across a problem in trying to get music purchased from iTunes to be recognized by other media players (Quicktime or Final Cut Express). I found how to get iTunes to export to cd/dvd disks in AIFF format (and other formats).
    Steps used:
    From iTunes:
Create a new playlist folder in iTunes (under file)
Drop the songs you wished to use into the playlist folder
Go to the iTunes main menu,
    select 'Preferences'
    select 'Advanced'
    select 'Import'
using "Import Using" select the format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, WAV) you desire
Input your CD/DVD disk to burn
highlight your Playlist file in iTunes that you want to convert
    select 'File' in iTunes,
    select "Burn Playlist to disc"
What you end up with is a CD/DVD with the music files in the format you selected -(I needed AIFF) from there you can use the disk or copy your converted files back into Final Cut or other software for use.
Hope this helps others having similar issues

Have you tried other formats, besides AIFF?
You can only burn purchased music to an
    b Audio CD
and the Finder will tell you the files are AIFF. Actually the files on an Audio CD are PCM, but Mac OS 'sees' them as AIFF.
You can't convert purchased music in other formats, because it's protected.

  • Unable to convert aac (m4a) to another format

I have hundreds of m4a files in iTunes, and I want to convert them mp3.
however every time I try, I get an error message
"Error occurred while converting the file "myFileName". The disk could not be read from or written to."
now, I know you'd generally think that my permissions are set incorrectly, but I've checked that the files have read/write access.... I even tried converting them to WAV and AAC instead but same issue. Weirdly, MP3 files in the same folder can be converted to another format.
I tested converting a problem AAC file outside of iTunes using 3rd party software and it worked.
It seems to be that my AAC (mp4a) files are being stubborn inside iTunes. anyone know why?

First, M4A stands for MPEG 4 Audio. It's an AAC file inside an MPG envelope. AAC is the successor of MP3, providing better quality at lower file sizes. In addition, people distributing content don't need to pay royalties to use AAC.
To convert these files to MP3 files, there is two ways for you:
#1. go to into the Preferences panel of iTunes. Click on the orange "Importing" selection and then select an MP3 Encoder for importing. Change the settings to whatever you want. Now, click OK and go back to the main window of iTunes. Select all songs you want to convert to MP3 and click on "Advanced" -> "Convert Selection to MP3".
iTunes knows a second AAC format called M4P. This is the protected version. It cant be converted to MP3 as easily. If you want to convert it to MP3, do this: First, burn the songs you want to convert onto an Audio CD (preferrably an CD-RW so you can erase it again afterwards). Now, import those songs again, this time into MP3 files.
#2.you can use a video converter software, here i recommend you Leawo Video Converter, this video converter can help you to convert aac audio format to mp3 files easily. You can find this software here. http://www.leawo.com/leawo-video-converter/
    wish ican help you!

  • Converting from WAV, or "converting but secretly not converting" from wav to AAC

I got this particular problem I just found out about. I imported a wav file into iTunes, and I assumed that means it gets converted to whatever format I set iTunes up for (in my case AAC). But when I then sync my iPod, I get the message that the file that was originally in WAV, cannot be imported because it is not in a compatible format. Yet the same song plays fine in iTunes. This does not make sense, unless iTunes does NOT convert files you import into the required file standard, but just copies them in, and iTunes happened to be able to play wav files. But then again, if iTunes is compatible with WAV files, why isn't iPod?
Now, I have to add, I have the file already on my computer, so I just drag the wav file into my iTunes. Does that mean iTunes copies the file over to the iTunes library, or does it actually convert it into the file format set up?

As for importing, I assume you refer to importing via drag-dropping files into iTunes? because according to my preferences, when I insert a CD it DOES convert  to a particular file type.
Kryn, yes, that is the importing that Dave is referring to.  Ripping from CD is a different process.
As far as your WAV file, iTunes and iPod can both play WAV.  They are pretty reliable if it is a CD-quality WAV, but sometimes have trouble if it is a low bitrate WAV such as the kind that come out of voice recorders.  If that is the problem, use a 3rd party conversion tool such as Switch to convert it to an MP3 or AAC.

Has anybody an idea to convert a buffer from CVID to RAW format?

I think you would have to just use a Processor.

how do I convert from imovie to wmv format

Spend some money at http://flip4mac.com and then do some homework regarding exports from iMovie to QuickTime formats.
Then spend some more money to buy the Pro upgrade to QuickTime Player 7 so you can use this third party software (not supported by the newer versions of iMovie).

  • Convert from WAV to AAC from one HD to Another HD

Don't know if this has been answered before but here's my situation. I have all my iTunes music folder in one Hard Drive. All the files are in WAVE format. Now, I want to copy all of the files to an External Hard Drive and in AAC format. How do I do it exactly? Do I Import, Export? O
      Windows XP

You can import & convert in one step so only AAC files will be in the new library. No duplicates and nothing to delete.
Copy /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Music folder to an external.
Connect the external to the other computer.
    Open iTunes.
Set your import settings to AAC.
Hold Option, go to File > Create new version - Convert to AAC.
Select the Music folder you copied to the external.
After you are finished, you can delete the /Music/ folder on the external.
Note that this will take some time as it is converting every song file you add.
FYI: You can convert the files directly as they are sync'd to the iPod.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Summary tab.
Tick Convert higher bit rate songs to {128, 192, 256} kbps AAC.

  • Convert from PDF to doc format

Try to convert IRS Form 1099 to document format getting error that file cannot be converted please help.

    Hi wlunchmeat,
IRS form 1099 is created with the help of LC Designer which is used to create the XFA(XML Form Architecture). ExportPDF would not be able to convert these kind of forms as it tends loose the important data from the form.

  • Converting from the windows date format

    Folks,
I have no doubt this has been answered before somewhere in deep dark recesses of these forums, but I'm having trouble finding a solution...
I have a csv file that contains a date and time field that has been stored in what I gather is a Microsoft format whereby the date and time are represented as a flaoting point number. The data can look something like 38410.25 which turns out to be 27/02/2005 06:00:00. Anyone been through this movie before?
    Thanks,
    overcanyon.

    Peter,
From snippets I've seen about the place, the microsfot calendar started in 1 jan 1900. I'm not even gonna think about the timezone but there is leap years an' stuff to think about and I'm feeling lazy in a kinda 'this code must be done before sorta way'.
You're making me feel guilty now. Like maybe there's not as much to it as I think.
Nah, thinking about leap years is makin' my brain ache. Yeah, Y2K flashbacks comin' on...
Any takers on where a ready made class might be living? :)

  • Changes in line definition when converting from Freehand to jpeg format

When I change my maps into jpeg formats, the lines change.
e.g. a dahed line may become dashes and dots, not as they were drawn. This has happened since I had a new hard disk in my iMac.
    Can anyone help?
    Blodwin

I would try other raster-based formats like TIF and PNG to see if the problem is there. Also does this change happen to all dashed lines or only on a certain type of line? I would try various line widths, colors, straight/curve, group/ungroup, etc. to find if any variables cause this to happen or not.
Also, with the new Hard Drive did you reinstall the OS and Applications or was this a separate drive from your startup dirve? Did you have to reinstall FreeHand and remember to add all the updates? also set the preferences to your last version?
