Convert inserted images from MSWord to PDF?

I have Acrobat 9 installed on two computers. My desktop Acrobat will convert MSWord text and inserted images into PDF files. My laptop Acrobat will convert identical MSWord text but not images into PDF - text appears as if no image was present (no wrap). I have checked Preferences and JPG appears OK. Same result whether using Acrobat's Create PDF from File, or MSWord's Acrobat tab. What should I do to fix Acrobat 9 on my laptop? Both computers on Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks to both answers above - it's a MSWord issue, not Acrobat. No inserts (images, text box, charts, etc) will print to any destination (printer or PDF).
I have initiated correspondence with the MS forum, but if either of you know how to "configure Word' to print images" your advice would be welcome. I have searched Word options and find no button to enable/disable printing of inserted images.

Hi Joe , Thank you for your quick response . I am viewing the jpeg in Microsoft Picture Manager and Flickr. It 's not always really noticeable , but for example if I shoot into the light with dew on the grass , the dew glistens in LRoom and I'm happy with the shot but when I convert it to jpeg ,it looks dull. I have changed the setting to sRGB - from Adobe 1998 ,but don't see much difference. Kind regards Alberto.

Converting RAW images from Nikon D7100

My PSE11 will not recognize/convert RAW images from new Nikon D7100 despite trying to download PSE update. Have had NO prior problem with RAW using D80. Help!

When you saying "trying to download PSE update" do you mean you're trying to do it manually? The best way is editor>help>updates. (Assuming this isn't the mac app store version, which is a whole 'nother story.)

Convert TOC Links from Word to PDF?

In a recent conversion of a Word document to PDF using Create PDF, the TOC links didn't make it through the process though most/all other links did. Is there a way to include TOC links in the converson process?

I have already inserted the links within the pdf, so I do have a working document. It is only a draft, though, and any subsequent editing requires going back to the original Word document, editing and converting again to pdf and then re-establishing the links - with over 30 images (linked to pre-exixting pdf documents) this last step is both tedious and error-prone! Thanks for the warning re Acrobat 9 and Word 2000. I had been thinking of upgrading ...

How to imbed image from XPAAJ into PDF livecycle form

We are having a very hard time trying to add an image to a dynamic XML PDF created in livecycle Designer 8. Basically we have a letter document and we are importing data into the PDF as XML. We need to insert an image of the users signature to appear on the form. We have saved the image on a file share and I created an image field in the PDF. How do we get the image into the PDF?? The rest of the XML data is properly inserting into the PDF but the image will not. We are using the XPAAJ API. ANy help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

I'm hoping you have figured this out by now, but in case others are having the same problem there is a section in the livecycle designer 8 regarding how to do this. You can search for "XML schema binding" and an example schema on how to include the image data in the XML you are passing to the PDF (I've been using the XPAAJ library as well) is shown.
Essentially you just need to base64 encode the image data and include a contentType (image/jpg, image/png, etc.) and a transferEncoding (base64) attribute on the element containing the data.

Help, bridge will not convert the images from my Canon 7D into raw

Has anyone else had problems converting images from a Canon 7D into Raw format? Bridge downloads them and then tells me it could not convert them. Hopefully someone out there has a fix. Aah the joys of new equipment and software.

Bridge should be converting image FROM raw format, not TO raw format.
If you have Photoshop CS4 you should update to the latest Camera RAW plugin:

If you have an earlier version of Photoshop (CS, CS2, CS3) then you can download the latest free DNG Converter and convert the 7D RAWs to DNGs and then an older version of Camera RAW can open them.

CS5 will be announced in a few weeks/months, and when it is available there will only be an upgrade path from CS2, CS3 and CS4, so if you have PS CS then you need to upgrade to CS4, now, before CS4 is available, otherwise to upgrade to CS5 you will need to pay full price.
If you have a PS version newer than CS then you can wait and upgrade to CS5 when it is out.
With either CS4 (and the newest Camera RAW update) and CS5, you won't have to convert 7D RAWs to DNGs to work on them.

Insert image from file in Adobe Flash AS2

Hello!
I am working on one project in Adobe Flash AS2 and I would like to know, is it possible to create such button in the flash movie, that when is pressed on, opens a file browser for the computer. After that, the user chooses an image to insert in the flash movie. And the image changes from the old one (apple) to the new one (flower).
For better understanding I added pictures. I hope You understand what I mean..
I have searched in web how to do this, but no success at all..Hoping on Your advice. Thanks!!!

Update - I tried using the loadMovie() function and it works, but not exactly as I was imagining. To be more precise with my planned option I will give this example for better understanding :
Lets say, that I make a Flash project for other users who have no programming skills. In this project (the swf movie) there is a place(a button "Insert image")
to upload an image and save it to the swf file, but it can't be done through typing the image URL in the actionscript (like doing an actual coding), but simply by opening the file browser in computer within the swf file.
I hope You understand what I mean.

Convert EPS images from Mac to PC

I wonder if anyone have any experience of converting large
quantities of images from Mac to PC? I have several thousands of
freehand eps-images saved for Mac that I need to convert to a
PC-eps. Anyone know any application that can accomplish
this?

Do the EPS files contain live text? Fonts could be an issue
unless you are
doing the conversion on a PC and replacing fonts as you go.
The only other
difference between Mac and PC EPS files is the preview. If
you don't need
the PC preview, you may not need to do the conversion at all.
FH cannot open (as editable) many flavors of EPS file, but
can import an EPS
and export it as QuarkXPress EPS which contains both Mac and
PC previews. I
don't know about the quality of the PC preview in this case,
as it would be
based on the Mac preview, not the original Postscript data.
If you're on a
Mac, you could possibly use an Applescript to open and export
the EPS files.
The task would be simpler and more reliable using
Illustrator, which has a
Postscript interpreter and is scriptable.

Error in calling/converting smart form from ECC to pdf in portal.

We have a requirement in our project where we have to show IT form in portal exactly in the way payslip are shown in ESS
Screen, that is in the pdf form in ess portal screen.
For this my HR abap consultant has made one customize smart form which is being called from a RFC FM.
After the FM lf_fm_name gets executed , the OTF data is being captured and then converted in to PDF.
After that the PDF is then converted into XSTRING format which is then supplied to the portal side through export parameter
of the RFC.
Now when we debugged the RFC, the conversion is taking place perfectly fine in to XSTRING.This is wat we assume.
Portal Side: I have used Iframe ui ELEMENT in my webdynpro java and its property source I have binded with a value attribute
of type string and I am executing above customize RFC given to me by my HR abap consultant and after executing that RFC with
userID and payroll year as its import parameter I am taking export parameter of that RFC with name pdf_string of type XSTRING
of that RFC into my webdynpro java value attribute which i binded to source property of Iframe.
Now when we see the output in portal , first of all pdf is not getting generated and its showing the error message:
file does not begin with '%pdf-' and secondly errored Adobe form getting opened outside Iframe window its not coming within
Iframe window like what payslip comes inside Iframe UI element.
I want to know what mistake we are doing in our ABAP coding or portal coding.

Converting menu images from PAL to NTSC

I have to prepare an NTSC version of a PAL dvd project.
I am firstly converting all the material, prior to building the dvd. One question though - I have used a lot of stills as menu backgrounds that were extracted from my PAL videos via the export still image function of FCP HD. They are obviously PAL format. What is the easiest way to rescale them to fit the NTSC frame, and not have any distortion? And what is the correct format to import them in - 640x480 or 720x480? This project is intended to be watched on TV not computer screens so I assume the latter.

Just feed them as they are to iDVD.
iMovie HD exports stills from PAL projects as 784x576 and from NTSC as 720x528 so the aspect ratios are almost the same.
iDVD will scale them internally as needed.

Can Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Convert File Hyperlink From Word to PDF?

Is there any method to convert file link (eg. C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\My Documents\xx.xls) from Word 2000? I have read many related issues, but seems cannot get the final answer. Many of them only mention about URL hyperlink (eg. www.yahoo.com). Can anyone help?

Do you mean that Office XP and later version can automatically convert the file link? No need to manually create the link in Acrobat using the link tool?
