Convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011
Hello,
need to convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011. have gone through Imap procedure and am tired of transferring mails manually coz there are thousands of'em. can anyone suggest any simple solution to this problem?
thanks.
Create a IMAP account (GMAIL icloud etc.)
add account to Apple mail and Outlook 2011
Drag emails into a folder on the imap server and then go back to Outlook 2011 and drag the emails from the imap into your email. and your done all your emails
are there.
There are third party tools available now-a-days for this kind of problems and they are pretty useful. You have just to select the files from the apple mail
that you want to convert and your mails are transferred within no time.

I have seen Robert Twellman's answer about a microsoft exchange account workaround for sync outlook for mac with iphone but . . . . I cannot figure out how to get my "on mycomputer" calendar events (about 1800) onto the "onmicrosoft" calendar. I tried import but that just creates an archive on my computer. Help please.
Hi Francorosso,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have downloaded the iCloud Control Panel on your Windows computer and would like to sync your contacts and calendars between your iPhone and computer. There are two different resources I would recommend reading over and working through in this situation.
The first article I wold recommend using as a resource is the one linked below. This article will help you isolate and troubleshoot the syncing disconnect between your iPhone and Outlook calendars.
Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010 - Apple Support
To further troubleshoot calendar syncing issues, please review the Troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook) section of the next attached article.

Transferring files from Address Book to Outlook for Mac 2011
I know that this topic has been addressed, but I have a strange problem with what should be a straightforward process.
Whenever I highlight all the entries in Address Book and drag them to an empty folder on my desktop, Address Book creates a single file titled, "vCards.vcf." This file is quite large, which leads me to suspect that it somehow contains all the names in my Address Book, but nothing I have tried - or read - has given me the slightest clue how to use this file to move the names over to Outlook. Likewise, nothing I have tried has been successful.
In the past, whenever I highlighted all the names in Address Book and dragged them to a folder on my desktop, a vCard for each name appeared in the folder, so this development has really surprised me.
Any idea as to what I am doing wrong? The single file does indeed contain all of the vCards in one file.
I don't know about Outlook '11, but all the Windows versions of Outlook cannot handle a multi-contact vCard. I would imagine Outlook '11 to be the same.
It's been creating multiple vCards for a while (perhaps just since Snow Leopard, but I can't remember).
Entourage has been able to sync with the Address Book for quite some time. Try looking in the Outlook prefs for that option. -
I need help exporting Apple Mail messages to Outlook for MAC 2011
Good morning,
I need help exporting Apple Mail messages to Outlook for MAC 2011. Please....It is possible to do this without external tools, but it is a tremendous faff. See
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macoutlook/import-ema il-from-mail-to-outlook-2011/5e858173-e1f4-4adc-99d7-253cc467169d?page=2 for details.
The easiest way, however, is to use Mail Exporter Pro https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mail-exporter-pro/id675131616?mt=12 which will convert the email for you from one format to the other, and comes with an excellent manual.
A third possibility is to connect Apple Mail to an email account via IMAP (this doesn’t have to be your usual account, you can just create a Gmail account for the purpose) . Copy all the messages into it and they will be uploaded. Then connect Outlook 2011 to the same account, via IMAP again, and let the messages download, then copy them to wherever you want to keep them and disconnect from that account. This is slow but preserves the attributes of your email (e.g. read/unead) better than any other method. -

How do we transfer contacts and mails from apple mail and address book to Microsoft outlook on my mac
From Contacts, anyway (the new version of Address Book) you can export to a .abbu file and import then into Outlook. I'm not sure about Mail as I only really use Outlook...

Suddenly can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail
Suddenly, I can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail (Version 2.1.1 (752.3)).
For quite a few years I have been using Apple Mail to access my .mac email. As of last Friday, Mail stopped working. Nothing has changed (accept for the installation of the latest OS X security upgrade - SecUpd2006-008Univ.pkg).
I can still access my .mac mail through the .mac web browser and I can still access it through SnapperMail on my Palm Treo 680. But, when I open Apple Mail on my MacBook, it does not do anything, just sits there. When I open the Activity Viewer window, 3 activities are going on:
1. Opening Mailbox
2. Synchronizing with Server (Connecting to...)
3. Synchronizing with Server (Synchronizing with...)
After a few minutes, the error triangle appears next to the Inbox and .Mac logos on the left hand panel.
I have tried Apple Mail from several locations (different ISP / WiFi / LAN) over several days but get the same problem.
Does anyone have ideas for a solution?
Regards
PeterLet’s first make sure that the update is installed properly, and post back with your observations when done.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update that appears to not have been installed properly. You may also need to reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with your computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
Troubleshooting installation and software updates
Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed. -
In Yosemite, I try to import mail from Apple Mail 8.0 into Thunderbird 31.20.0, but it says "No mailboxes found"--what should I do? I've tried all sort of other approaches, but none works. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Ken
Try copying the whold SD card to your desktop by holding down the Option key and dragging the SD card icon about 2 inches away from the where the card sits on the desktop. This should trigger Mac OS to make a copy of the whole SD card onto your Macintosh's desktop. Once it finishes from there, eject the SD card. Reboot your Mac then open iMovie without launching any other programs whatsoever. Go to the File Menu Import Movies from File... And point it at the copy of the SD card and see if it crashes again.

I'm unable to open vCard exported from MS Outlook for Mac (2011) which adheres all requirements.
vCards exported from Outlook are not compatible with iCloud if that's what you're trying to import it to. You'll have to do something like create a Gmail account, then export your Outlook contacts to Gmail (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-outlook-contacts-to-google -gmail-HA001148902.aspx), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).

Cannot Import Email and Folders from Outlook for Mac 2011
After downloading Lion, I could not import emails and folder structure from Outlook for Mac 2011.
You're in luck, Imap and Exchange accounts store their data on the server.
Leave Outlook alone, just add the accounts to Mail and let them synchronize, no import required. You can leave them in Outlook or remove them as you please once everything in Mail is done. -
This is my first attempt at using this forum so please be patient with me. I am new to the apple world. Bought an Imac desktop computer back in October and installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 because I was used to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and outlook. Now I am being told that I should be using ical for my calendar so that I will be better able to move to icloud for use between my Imac, Ipad2, and Iphone.
The question is: how do I move my calendar which is in "Outlook for Mac 2011" into ical on my Mac? Do I have to remove the Outlook entries from the computer and reinstall them back to the same machine or can I somehow move calendar entries within the machine? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.I also already deleted my phone number from iMessage on my MBP.

Unable to attach PDF to email (Outlook for Mac 2011)
We are pushing out software upgrades for CS5 and MS Office 2011 for Mac. We've discoverd that we can't use the Attach to email feature in Acrobat. The spinning rainbow wheel pops up for about a minute, and then Acrobat is non-responsive and we have to force quit. We can still drag and drop an attachment so we have a viable workaround but obviously we'd like to be able to use the automated feature.
All software is up-to-date.
In the preferences panel of Outlook, we have selected Outlook to be the default mail application.
As a sidenote, this feature doesn't work with Acobat X beta either. However, in the beta version of Acrobat X, if we declare Apple's mail application to be the default, it works fine. Unfortunately we use the Office suite as part of our enterprise system, so that's what we need to work with.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've logged a ticket with Adobe but I haven't heard back from them yet.
Thanks for any advise.Take the bhama way
figured out how to make it work. I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro (mac)
and MS Outlook for Mac 2011.
For those who are interested, this is what I did:
1. Create a folder on desktop to save your pdf¹s files you want to email
to. Mine is named, "PDF to Email"
2. Open Automator, create a "Folder Action"
3. At the top, "Choose Folder", choose your newly created folder on the
desktop
4. Choose the "Rename Finder Items" action from the action list. I chose,
"Don¹t Add" on the add a Copy Finder Items Action menu.
5. On the "Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names" I chose, "Name Single
Item" from the first drop down menu.
6. Click on "Options" at the bottom of that window to select the "Show
this action when the workflow runs" so you can rename your file
something other than the Acrobat default.
7. Choose the "Create New Outlook Mail Message" from the action list and
add it below the "Name Single Item in Finder Item Names"
8. Choose "File>Save As" and give your file a name. Mine is, "PDF to
Email".
9. Close Automator
10. Open Acrobat X Pro.
11. Go to "File>Action Wizard>Create New Action"
12. Here you choose, "Save to>A Folder on my computer"
13. Choose the folder on the desktop that we saved earlier
14. Save the file, with the action name you will remember.
Now when you are in Acrobat X Pro and you want to send that .pdf file via
Outlook for Mac 2011, follow the steps below.
With the file you want to email open, go to "File>Action Wizard>(Action
you created) Mine is "PDF to Email". It will take a few seconds, but you
will get an "Action Completed". You will get a pop up that allows you to
name/rename the file. Then it should open your Outlook with your .pdf
attached and ready for sending.
You might need to tweak the actions to suit your needs, but this should
work for you.

It's supposed to work now? I've made sure I'm on latest (check for update)
and it says I am. Still get an error. It does bring Outlook to the
forground, but same error when I hide Outlook - An error occurred while
trying to create a mail document. Suggestions?

Aperture 3 and Outlook for Mac 2011
Is Apple going to update Aperture 3 so that Outlook for Mac 2011 can be selected as an alternate e-mail client?
I have just discovered the same thing - if you do a search around the topic you will find it confirmed that the only thing that will sync with Outlook for Mac is contacts.
I've just moved everything over from a PC to a Mac and so to find it not working is so frustrating.
SORT IT OUT RIM - or at least assure us you're working on it. -
How to sync Address Book TO Outlook for Mac 2011
I am using the native Address Book from Mac OS 10.7.5 and need to keep using it because it syncs with my iPhone. However, I am using Outlook for Mac 2011 and want the contacts to synch from Mac Address Book to Outlook's contact list.
Synch services have been turned on in Outlook.
Originally, I was going to switch to Mac Mail but discovered that importing mail from Outlook is a headache (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2664208?start=0&tstart=0). Outlook works well and has for years so rather than going through a bunch of manual drag and dropping of folders to make mbox files, or buying software to do it, I thought getting the contacts to synch would suffice since that's all that's really needed.
What I discovered is that Outlook will feed new contacts to Mac Address Book when they are generated in Outlook but the Mac Address Book does not feed new contacts to Outlook if they were generated in Address Book. Is this even possible? If so, how?
Thanks,
Karen
I read this previous thread but it talks about contact info going FROM Outlook to Address Book instead of the other way around: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2664208?start=30&tstart=0I've got Outlook up and running just fine. Still have the problem with getting duplicate emails but I'm waiting on MS to get a fix for that in an update. Apparently that has been an ongoing issue. I've been in contact w/ a senior MS Outlook tech on that. I guess I'll just have to make sure that all contact adds/edits are done in Outlook. Then I can sync my phone or iPad and get the cloud to update the other Apple devices off that sync. Either that or figure out how to export from the Mac address book to the Outlook address book once in a while.

MS Outlook for Mac 2011 great for eMail
I recently decided to give MS Outlook for Mac 2011 a try after using the native mail.app with my MacBook Pro (13 inch, Mid 2012), and wow! I don't know if it's because I have always used Outlook on my PC and have grown accostomed to it, but it really does feel like the interface, rules, folders, everythign is better!
I have 3 imap accounts that I run through Outlook (same ones in mail.app) and I now no longer feel like I'm "losing" eMail. For the past 6+ months I have lost eMail messages due to the way mail.app organizes them. It was a real hassle having to do exhaustive, complex searches involving subject, sender, date. No longer.
Anyway, just thought to write this up in case anyone else is considering jumping from mail.app to Outlook. Oh, and I ONLY use outlook for eMail. For Contacts and Calendar items, I continue to use the native apps (although I did import my contacts list in order to automatically download pictures in eMails).vCards exported from Outlook are not compatible with iCloud if that's what you're trying to import it to.
