Convert .MOV to .SWF!?

hey there
i have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out!
i went to upload a .flv and noticed newgrounds only supports .swf
i cant seem to figure out how to convert this!
i dont want to pay for addition programs either for i dont have the money and im sure there is a way with what i have.
i have quicktime pro and i figured it would have this feature i cant seem to find it!?
i do have flash cs3, flash video encoder, and adobe after effects. i tried with these but failed.
i took my .mov ... brought it into flash video encoder...this application only converts to .flv ... - but, since its a .flv, i can now bring it into flash cs3 and export as a .swf file.
i did this and it worked. the only problem was that the audio was choppy, and the video wasnt self contained. so if i deleted the other files and played the .swf by itself, it would just be white and blank. this is a problem when trying to upload to the web.
i also tried bringing my .mov into after effects. i exported as a .swf which worked, only the video was choppy! clear picture, but skipped many frames! also the file sizes were HUGE...like 100mb.
.swf files are usually 5MB for the web. after messing around with reducing quality in the after effects render settings, i got it down the lowest to 20mb...and the website i am uploading to limits to only 10mb!
so after effects gives good picture quality but skips frames and has hige file sizes. flash has choppy audio and i cant seem to figure out how to make it self contained.
someone mentioned trying to import as embedded...this is what happens
when i go to import my .flv to flash it gives me different options (progressive, mobile, embed to timeline, etc.)
when i click on embed to timeline, it warns that you should only choose this option if your clip has no audio, or the synchronization will probably be all messed up.
my video does include audio..
when i chose embed to time line and exported as a .swf, the audio ran fine...it didnt sound choppy at all. although what happened was the video part ran extremly slow and was totally out of synch because of this.
i tried going back in flash in the properties at the bottom and changing event to stream and exported that, although the same thing. the audio was fine at the right pace, and the video part of the .swf was super slow.
damn! i dont know what to do.. :/
possibly there is something i could change in the export settings or another technique?
thankyou

hey i figured it out!
i payed for a program called Visual Hub, it converts several different formats.
surprisingly, it converted my mov to a swf superbly!!
i just hate the fact i had to get another converting program, i feel as if quicktime pro should be able to handle all of this!
well now i just gotta find a steady way to convert my swfs to movs, until then, im sticking with the screen capture technique!

Print the reviewer the original document the course content
was initially built from if they want it in print format. To expect
a flash SWF to print the same way as a Microsoft Word document way
is just stupid, think of the SWF's timeline and number of
movieclips (and movieclips within movieclips) and how much
information can be contained within it and how it might not always
be in a linear format (eg. like a Word Doc) = your answer which is

  • Converting video to swf files in flash for breeze

    Hello,
I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2 and wanted to know what the
best video codec and audio codec to use when I export to create a
video file to insert into flash to convert to a swf file for
breeze? I am having trouble with the audio, must I demux it first
before I put into Flash? Or is there a audio codec that I can use
in Premiere so I don't have to demux the audio?
Also, when I insert a swf file in breeze plug-in for PPT, it
does not play the video or give me the controll by presentation
playbar I checked off. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, could use
    some help, thanks.

    hi,
if you work with the player component the .flv is not
    embedded in the
swf. In Breeze you can only insert a single flash file I
    suppose, so the
attached .flv file won't show up.

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 won't play .mov or .swf inserted in powerpoint

I have been using Quicktime in ppt for sometime and it always played video loops fine. I upgraded to 7.1.3 and I have all kinds of problems. I have gone under the Quicktime preferences and MIME files and activated video and miscellanous types. Once I close the window though it reverts back to default and I can no longer open mov or swf. Is there a way to save these changes? Secondly when I insert a movie into ppt now it does not work. If I just open the file using Quicktime it works but not when embedded in ppt. I have reinstalled Quicktime 7.0.4 and the movies work fine. The other problem I have is that I upgraded to iTunes 7 and it requires 7.1.3 so when I remove 7.1.3 I can't use any of the video features of iTunes. Does anybody have any work arounds. Very, Very frustrated In South Dakota

    Quicktime Kirk,
I have downloaded another persons inquiry because it is exactly the problem I am having. Here is his post
"I make movies of cells and convert them to quick time and insert them into powerpoint for presentations for conferences. I never had a problem with this until I upgraded to office 2004 and now many (but not all) of my movies won't play. They seem to be there but when I click play they go white as though there is only the first image. I had saved them as cinepak and or jpeg A usually with image J or older ones from the original NIH image and I can't figure out what the problem is. I even upgraded to quicktime pro to resave them as self contained but still they don't work when I insert them. I can play them all with quicktime player and when I make new ones now in image j I save them as video and that seems to work but it would be very difficult to go back and do that with everything. Does anyone know why or how to fix this?"
My additional comments would be I used the Sample_iTunes.mov from QT and it plays like a champ in PPT. My movies are all from 2004. When I save them in the QT 7.1.3 it doesn't seem to make any difference. The older movies insert into PPT as a QT icon with 4 color quadriant. Everything including .swf are now working in QT. Thanks for your help. When I go back to 7.0.3 they work but then I can't play my videos in iTunes unless I do an erase and a reinstall to get rid of the updated iTunes. Thanks

  • Converting mov files to animated gifs

Basic question: how-to convert MOV files to animated GIF files. I have been searching for free/opensource/shareware to do this but so far no program I found could do this.
I'd love someone to answer, definitively, about free/opensource/shareware, but my hopes are down.
So, I ask what MAC program (even if I have to buy it) will let me convert MOV files to animated GIFs or MOV frames to seperate images (is that at all possible?).
Secondly, does anyone have experience with software that does this?
    Thanks in advance.

Quicktime Pro 7 can take video (ie mov files) and export them as image sequences.
It can be purchased at the Apple store for $30.

  • Insert FLV, let it build player, can't move skins, SWF haults

I am using Dreamweaver CS4 on a mac... I am inserting an FLV file through the file menu prompts... I let it build out the Skins it needs, which default to the root directory.. my FLV file is in a "Videos" folder... It is also creating a "Scripts" folder... It all plays fine...
In the dreamweaver File Viewer, I move Clear_Skin_1.swf andFLVPlayer_Progress.swf.. dreamweaver notifies me that i may need to update my paths... i do so with the following code... and now the file doesn't work...
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="350" height="234" id="FLVPlayer">

                  <param name="quality" value="high">

                    <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /></a></p>

                  <!--[if !IE]>-->
                </object>
                <!--<![endif]-->
              </object>
Now when I move the files BACK to the root, let dreamweaver re-write the code... it works... why can't I organize these SWF skins/players?

The reason (I am told), is because of the streaming video option (you require a streaming enabled server to use this), which establishes a permanent connection to the page, so the flash insert places the progressive option there as well, ease of coding and possibly making the file placement standardized I imagine.

  • Can't find geometry tab on Compressor 4.1.3 and need to convert mov file to 800x600 res

I just bought Compressor 4.1.3. because I was told it's the only way to convert movies exported from finalcutprox to custom resolution. I need 800x600 and I looked up a tutorial that says the custom res option is in the "geometry tab".  However, that was for an earlier version and I cannot find that tab on this latest version. Can somebody please tell me how to convert files to custom res in Compressor 4.1.3.? It's very important, and I paid 50 dollars just to do it. I'd appreciate any advice people have.
    Thanks so much!

Perhaps it would be best if you could post a screen shot of your original video.  For example, open it in QT Player and hit command i. Take a screen shot of the image and the movie inspector.
All of the functions and their adjustments that used to be grouped in Geometry in previous versions of Compressor are now located in the integrated video pane of the Inspector.

  • HT5409 can i convert movies from iPad to mac laptop

Ihave  download a movie from ipad but it will not play on my mac air laptop with quicktime installed..??

Ihave  download a movie from ipad but it will not play on my mac air laptop with quicktime installed..??
Are you going to give us any additional clues as to what you are really asking here?
    1) The "HT5409" in your subject title reference implies you are dealing with AVCHD content. If true, then how did you transfer them to your iPad and how did you transfer them from your iPad to your your MacBook Air platform? As the HT409 topic clearly stated, this can be very important. In addition, how are the files stored? For instance , have you extracted the MPEG-4 AVC content as transport streams or is the content still in the device recorded file form? Are you trying to edit the content or convert it to M4V, MP4, or MOV files directly?
    2) The "can i convert movies from iPad to mac laptop" part of your subject title is confusing. Yes, AVCHD files can be converted to simpler MPEG-4 AVC content that is compatible with all current and most older Mac computers and Apple mobile devices in MOV, MP4, and/or M4V file formats. However, how you do this will depend on the current form of the data and the target settings you wish to employ to ensure compatibility with the various target device possibilities. Further, non-AVCHD content (e.g., HD iPad video recordings) can also be downconverted to simpler settings in a similar manner if needed or required if that is your questing.
    3) Depending on your operating system, both AVCHD and MPEG-4 AVC content should already be compatible with QT X v10.2 and v10.3 players if properly transferred to your laptop from the recording device. And, even if improperly transferred, may still be converted to useable/compatible formats as long as the file itself has not been corrupted by your, as yet, unspecified workflow.
    4) What does "will not play on my mac air laptop with quicktime installed" mean here? Are you trying to play an AVCHD movie in the QT 7 player or one of the QT X players? If the latter, which one? Are you getting any error message? If so, what are they? If not playing in your main user account on the computer, does it play useing a different account? Do the files play in other, third-party multimedia players?
Basically, your question is the equivalent of my saying my car won't start but failing to mention whether or not I am out of gas, my battery is dead, or that I have removoed the distributor cap, wires, or spark plugs from the engine. To properly solve the issue we need all possible information that you can provide describing exactly what you are doing, how you are doing it, what is not working as your expect it should, and what your goals are. In cases where you cannot answer such questions, it is often helpful to simply post/upload a sample "problem" file and let other users here examine it to determine the problem and/or suggest a specific solution for your particular system/configuration combination.

  • Aspect ratio problem while converting movies

i think the black screen problem is the aspect ratios because videora ipod converter converts movies ar 1.33:1 and if your movies ar isn't 1.33:1 so u will see a black screen.
we need a program that we can set ar manually.or we can only convert the movies which ar is 1.33:1 with videora ipod converter

I believe that at least a partial solution is to create all of this widescreen, then in DVDSP, you have to make it a menu and not a video track. Then for aspect ratio in SP, select 16:9 Pan Scan & Letterbox. Be aware that it will cut off the sides of the picture in 4:3. Then your following image you'd have to put bars on the sides of the 4:3 video in Final Cut pro. Hope this helps. Anybody else got any ideas, I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

Sounds like someone ripped the movie off of YouTube and it got corrupted in the process. Try getting the movie file again, or try using an alternative movie player such as VLC: http://www.videolan.org

  • Using Media Manager to convert movies to apple pro res

Using Media Manager to convert movies to apple pro res,  How can I convert my existing media files  from quicktime movies into apple pro res 422 ?
After they are converted will I have to re-point my fcp project to the converted files?
Thank You for taking time to answer these
    Carl

    Sorry, I am not following.
You said you have converted them to prores LT & are having this issue, or is it with H264 files in your edit?
How did you convert? using media manager, or compressor?
if you still are using the H264 media that would be the issue.
That is not an editing codec. it is a delivery codec.
The thing to have done would have been to convert to prores before you started editing.
    or did you do that?

  • Converting movies to mov. format

Is there anyone who can tell me how to convert movies to mov. format. I have tried other solutions but non seem to work except for when I download an mov. file/movie. Does anyone now of any programs that do that. Thanks

yes, go under export and you'll see the supporting
    formats.
QT does not create DVDs, though.
QT Pro allows you to re-encode video but not to
switch containers (to change formats). You can use
    MPEG
    Streamclip for switching containers.
    iMac G5 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
      1,536 MB RAM
Not true, you can re-encode in QTP to multiple other formats and use also different containers

okay. let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
    let's try this technique first.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
