Convert mp3 into ringtone??

Sorry if this isnt the best place to post this, but I couldnt think of anywhere else.
Does anyone know if you can cut an mp3 and make it into a ringtone for a cell phone?? Or where I can find more information??

You have to refer to your phone's manual: What kind of files types will your phone accept as ringtone?
Might worth to look at the webpage(s) of your cell phone brand.
For phones like Ericsson, Nokia .... the are converters available.

• Converting mp3 to ringtone

I followed all of the guides on how to make an mp3 into a ringtone.
I shortened it to 30 seconds after creating the AAC. I drag it to my desktop and make it into m4r and it becomes a "ring" file on my desktop.
It seems to become one but when I drag it to my "tones" section on my iPhone 4s, it shows up in the library but isn't dark black font and is the light grey (assuming that means it's not on there) and has the sync 2 arrows following each other next to it (but are not moving).
I don't know what I am doing wrong, but here is a legit pic of my iTunes if I'm allowed to post the tinypic URL. Don't worry, its nothing fishy.
http://tinypic.com/r/10z70hv/6

I've done that and deleted all versions of the song except for the .m4r and it still give me the grey colored one when I go to drag it into iTunes.

• Converting mp3 into AAC

Has anybody ever converted an mp3 into AAC and had the AAC file be larger than the mp3? All of the music on my iPod (close to 3000 songs) is AAC, and when I have an mp3 file I've been converting them, but I did that with a podcast, only 2 discover the size increased from 24 to 65 MB!!!
Does this make any sense?!
Also, am I doing myself a lot of harm, quality-wise, by making this conversion?

Converting 320kbps files into 128kbps will reduce the size by around 60%, but at the same time reducing audio quality. How much so can only be determined by you after several sid-by-side tests. You may or may not be able to hear the difference with your ears and equipment (iPod/headphones).
Converting the 45kbps podcasts to 128kbps will effectively triple the file size of each podcast, while adding absolutely no audio quality. Again, sampling a sample will lower quality.
Down-converting the 320 MP3s may not be as great a audio loss since they are starting off at a high quality bit rate. If they were 128s or 190s, you would notice a significant difference.
Just let your ears be your guide.

• I can't convert itune into ringtone

I have converted the itune into AAC format, but when I go to choose a start and stop time, it doesn't save it. I have multiple versions of the same full-length song, but no abbreviated version to use as a ringtone. Help...I need my Beatles...

At times on my system the bells disappear. Not the bell column, but the bells that show up in the column indicating that they are ring-tone capable. All I've had to do (even though the bell is not showing up) is right click on one of the songs that I KNOW is ok'd for ring-tones, scroll down to "Create Ringtone" and then iTunes brings up the ringtone creator at the bottom of iTunes. So give that right click a try and see if it helps.
By the way, you do know don't you that you must purchase the song first, then pay an additional $.99 to make it a ringtone right?

• Need to convert MP3 in URL to play it in myspace

Hello
Help ! I need to convert MP3 into URL? (I have a flashfetish player on Myspace they only read url for a dj mix)
which sites or witch converter?
Hope to speak soon !

there is no such thing as "converting an mp3 to a URL." a URL is a pointer to where the file resides online. iow, you have to "upload" the mp3 somewhere (typically a web site that you own), and then use that URL to point to the file.
for example this:
http://www.bulletsandbones.com/BBPages/History/BBMp3s/01Real%20World.mp3
points to a file located on the bulletsandbones web site

• Anyone can teach me how to convert my MP3 song into Ringtone on my iPhone 5

Anyone could teach me how to convert my MP3 music in my iPhone 5 into Ringtone?

You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

• How to convert .MP3 files into .AAC with iTunes 10.5.2

Im running a Mac OS X 10.5.8, and my iTunes version is 10.5.2.
I want to convert .MP3 files into .AAC using iTunes, but no option is given for me. What should I do?

im not going to change all my songs into AAC, I was experiementing around with making ringtones for my iphone. I can open a song in Garageband, and export it as an AAC file to my itunes, but it is very annoying. I remember older versions of itunes having a "Convert to AAC" option, but i can't find it anymore on this current version of itunes.
Basically, I want to convert a couple songs into AAC to create ringtones out of them.

• Why can't i convert itunes into an mp3 format?

I looked on Apple's website for information on how to convert itunes into a mp3 format on your windows pc. I followed each step. I clicked on Edit and Preferences and set it to Mp3 converter. I then selected the songs I wanted to convert into. Then I clicked Advanced. When I clicked Advanced, it showed "Create Mp3 Version" but it was grayed out. And i was unable to click it. I do not know if I did something wrong or..? Please help me out with this situation because I really want to convert it to an Mp3 format to post it on a website. Thanks.

It doesn't work if you simply open it in a browser tab. When you download it and open in an Adobe window you will be able to click on it and type your information in the spaces provided.

• I am having difficulties getting an itune i converted to a ringtone into my tones folder so i can use it. what could i be missing?

im having difficulties getting an itune i converted to a ringtone into my tones folder so i can use it as a ringtone.  i have followed all steps and have gotten the tune to a tone but i must be missing one last thing.  any ideas?

I'm not sure how this applies here, or even if it does, but when I made ringtones for my phone (not an iPhone) I had file size limits on how big it is. Have you seen any restrictions on how large a ring tone can be?
