Convert MS Word to PDF with an embedded Excel File Q

I have an MS Word document that contains embedded Excel and Word files (double click these icons and you can view), how can I convert this MS Word document and still be able to view these embedded file when I convert to PDF? I'm doing the straiaght forward 'createPDF' using PDF maker, when it is finished creating the PDF you can obviously see these embedded images in the PDF file but you can't access them. Can this be done?
Thanks

No. Covert these other documents to pdf and attach them in the first pdf and attach them to the new pdf file.

  • Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional

    Hello all,
    I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
    Backgroundinfo:
    - Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    - Windows XP (SP2)
    - MS Word 2002
    Thanks in advance!

    Dear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links  in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
    Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
    first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
    second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
    Anyone ideas?
    Grtz,

  • Converting Microsoft Word to .pdf with FlashPaper2

When I try the simple task of converting Microsoft Word
documents to .pdf using FlashPaper2, the Word Document reads NOT
RESPONDING in Windows Task Manager, the taskbar reads "Word is
preparing to background print the document," the FlashPaper
horizontal working bar sticks at less than halfway - and stays
there. I suspect this might have something to do with the printer
driver problem discussed earlier on this forum. FYI: I installed
FlashPaper 2 as Part of Contribute 3 - all part of Studio 8. If
anybody can tell me what this is and how to fix it, I'd appreciate
    it!: I...confused;

BreJan is right - that was the solution I used before! I also
found another solution which I did before reading the last posting
    - I cut and pasted it. I did uninstall my HP printer but I just
unplugged it from the usb port and back it - it recognized the
printer and it works. FlashPaper 2 also works. BreJan's is the
    simplist of the 2.
    dhogue94 provided this link -
    http://www.adobe.com/go/d3551268
    - in his help for "FlashPaper completely freezes during print"
below. The link describes, I believe, how to reinstall an old
FlashPaper printer driver instead of the one provided by
installation of Contribute 3 in Studio 8. I followed the
instructions on the link, and they worked for my Word to .pdf
freeze. So once again, problem solved - and I thank you!

  • Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?

Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?
Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
    - a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
    - other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

when I convert to word from pdf the text comes out garble please advise?

    Hey Mario,
Please let me know what Acrobat version are you using.
Does this happen with all PDF files or any specific one? How are you trying to convert the PDF to word?
You might try repairing Acrobat and then check.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Black Pages - Convert from Word to PDF

When I convert a Word document to a PDF, the pages on the PDF document are black.  This only happens on select Word document that use a specific cover graphic.  I've sent the same document to a co-worker and they were able to convert the document to PDF with no issues.  I have verified my preferences with my co-worker and these are the same.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader (10).  I was previously able to convert a Word document with the same graphic to PDF without any issues.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Adobe Reader can't convert from Word to PDF.

  • How to use .joboptions file while converting from Word to PDF

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to Acrobat. I'm using Acrobat XI. I need to convert a word document to a PDF file which conforms to certain requirements described by a given .joboptions file. The .joboptions file can be opened by distiller, but as far as I know distiller is not invovled in the conversion (Word to PDF) process. So how can I make sure the converted PDF file meets the requirement described by the .joboptions file?

Distiller is used when converting from Word to PDF, if you do it via the Acrobat panel, not the Adobe PDF printer or Word's internal Export to PDF command. If you've loaded your joboptions file in Distiller (via Settings - Add Adobe PDF Settings), then you will see it in the drop-down of Conversion Settings when you click the Preferences button in the Acrobat panel in Word.
After you've selected your job options profile click the Create PDF button, and the file will be converted using the selected options.

  • Since 11-4-14 every convert from Word to PDF has failed online or desktop - when will this be sorted

Since 11-4-14 EVERY convert from Word to PDF either online or desktop has failed, when will this be fixed?

No replies on here so went online and tried various options including "repair reader installation" plus uninstall and reinstall etc, some posts suggested a repair from the Printers file (Vista) so installed AdobeCreatePDF desktop printer plus Xerox Phaser PS printer as advised. All without any obvious sucess ie still no word docs converted after hours of trying. Then unexpectedly a further test convert attempt succeeded; tested again on desktop plus online and now all works fine as it did before. Who knows why - possibly only Adobe know. Will leave this thread here just in case the fail reappears over next few days!

i met this error every time if i compile a "BIG " project.(with 1G+  image resources).   And also ,if you  import 500+ images into Flash CS ...you  know ,its prefix is  "Adobe".
i guess , it's  because somebody not like "BIG " thing.
So..on  32bit windows  platform ..i  upgrade my JVM to  1.7 ,and..modified  -XSS value . it will help us ..but not 100% resolved.
Finally ,i upgrade to  64bit platform ..this problem seems  gone.
I think ,it's  because of the bad RAM Manager  of  JVM. on 32bit windows machine .it's only can manager 1024M ram .(such a stupid VM).   And  on 64bit platform ..JVM seems  to be d normal.

  • Problem with opening MS Excel files through Portal

    Hi All,
I have a user that is complaining about the behaviour of MS Excel files in the Portal. The MS Excel files do not match their behaviour at the windows level. The issue has to do with how MS Excel files never seem to open in a maximized sate when you open them from the portal. The same cannot be said about MS Word files. The behaviour of MS word files is consistent between windows and portal.
    Solutions will be REWARDED.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Krishnen Subramanian.

    Hi Hussain,
I hav uploaded the excel file into my KM contentafter that when i try to open it , it does not open as maximized.
    Let me explain:
I create a new excel file on my desktop:
    I open this file:
I maximize the workbook and save:
I close Excel and then open the file right back up:
I notice that Excel and the workbook open up maximized. I close Excel again.
I now upload the file to the portal:
I then open the file from here:
It is noticed that the Excel is not maximized. We would like for it to behave as it does from the desktop. In other words, if it is saved as maximized, it should open from the portal that way. If it is saved as half way open, it should open that way from the portal.
I have found that MS Word documents behave in the portal as they do on the desktop. I create an MS Word file on my desktop:
There appears to be something portal related that prevents MS Excel files from opening maximized.
Hope you will be abl to solve the message.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Krishnen Subramanian.

  • Print whole answer as pdf (not as export excel file)

Dear, we are receiving some info (information of sessions designed by people) with text fields with no limits of characters.
Would it be possible the text box is growing as the people write more or less? Instead of having a "fix box size" with a scrollbar when the text is over the size of the box...
We would like then to print the pdf's with all the text, so an option is also if we can just have a way to print all the text, again from the pdf, not from the excel file with all the answers.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi;
A feature in a Paid level subscription (Basic and Plus) is downloading a PDF of the response from the View Responses tab by selecting any response row and choosing "Download Response as PDF Form".  This downloads a PDF of the response with all multi-line text fields expanded to fit all the text the user input so it can be printed.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot go on suspend with an open Excel file from network

    Hi all,
I cannot go on suspend with an open Excel file with macro - from network.
The error msg is that I need to close all the open files first.
"Windows cannot go on standby because Microsoft Office documents or application components are being accessed from the network. You must close the open documents or exit the application before you can put the computer on standby"
The error msg will not appear when I use regular excel files, only with macro.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, there are some reasons.
Firstly, if we got some error message like: "Cannot find the file 'C:\Folder\FileName.xls' .Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."
    Please try the steps:
Open Excel>Click on file>options>Advanced options>General tab>Uncheck the box “ignore other applications which use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
Secondly, When we try to open a Office file, it'll create a temp file in the same directory. If we have no full permission with the folder and OneDrive, we also could not open it.  Thus, we'd better make sure we
have full permission. Please try to use the administrator account to test.
Thirdly, please see the some general troubleshooting about Excel start issue:

    Hope it's helpful.

  • Convert Word to PDF with a Digital ID?

    Hi,
I am looking for a solution to automate the process of adding Digital ID's to PDF's. Whenever I create a PDF from a Word Document with the Adobe PDF converter plug-in for Word I want it to add a Digital ID (certificate security) to that particular PDF. But as far as I can tell it is only possible to add password security to the PDF working this way.
So as things are now, I have to add the digital ID after I created the PDF, this is what I want to avoid. Is there a way to add a Digital ID while I convert the Word Document to PDF. Or a plug-in that does the same thing with only one click. Something to keep in mind is that the Certificate will always use the same Digital ID.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for replying.
This is probably what I'm looking for but I think I'm going wrong somewhere.
I tried changing the conversion options more specifically the "Adobe PDF security" setting.
This setting gives me 2 possibilities:
         - Reconfirm security for each job
         - Use the last known security settings
These are the only settings I can find regarding security settings. But both work with the password encrypting security.
Do keep in mind that I'm using Acrobat Pro 8.0.

  • Converting from Word to PDF and printer settings

I have a program that writes letters automatically in Word and if we have a PDF file as an enclosure when the letter prints, it actually converts the word document as a whole to a PDF. This part works great, however, when the letter begins with Word we have the Page setup for the printer to print the first page on letterhead (tray 1) and all pages after to plain paper (tray 2). When the word document converts to pdf, it is printing everything from tray 1 which is letterhead.
Is there any way to convert a document to pdf and keep the page settings as well?
    Thanks for any input!

Don't have an answer. However, you might consider creating the WORD document so that the letterhead is built in and you do not need the paper.

  • Converting from Word to .pdf distorts formatting

When I convert a Word document to a .pdf, when I have a bulleted list and the first sentence of each bullet is underlined, format gets distorted when I print to .pdf. I've retyped the document from scratch and experimented with a few different fonts and regardless, the results are the same. One or two of the bullets appear normal (so does the underlined text) and then a few other bullets and the underline itself (but not the text) appear bolded.
Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or solutions? Thank you.

You really need to post version details
If you are using Word 2007 try the Microsoft product at this link
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED87 041&displaylang=en
If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
