Convert Office Word to PDF format

Greetings,
I want to convert my resume which is in office word 2007 & convert it to PDF format, which is more secure.
I am running Adobe 9 - free version

Thanks for the info. I am disappointed to learn that automatic bookmark creation wasn't ever available on the Mac. Who knew that there are actually disadvantages of the Mac vs. Windows? :-)
Are there any other ways (third-party apps, for example), to automatically create bookmarks from heading styles in a Word document?
Cheers!

  • Acrobat - Convert Office documents to PDF so that it is crawled/indexed by SharePoint search

    Hi there,
This is a hybrid question between Acrobat and SharePoint and I'll post on both forums....
    Background:
In a fairly complex application we have a publishing server that utilizes Acrobat to convert Office documents to PDF using the Convert to PDF functionality.
We then publish that PDF to a library in SharePoint.  We would like to have those published PDFs searchable by SharePoint search.  Unfortunately there is something about these PDFs where SharePoint cannot crawl the content.
Note:  I do realize that PDFs are not indexable by SharePoint out of the box and I have installed and configured the iFilter utility.  I have been able to index and search for other PDFs, so I know the mechanism works.  It just seems to be these
    particular PDFs.
I have also manually "Saved as PDF" directly from Word/Excel and those PDFs are crawled by SharePoint....it just seems to be when Acrobat does its conversion.  I'm sure it's just a simple configuration somewhere... I just don't know what I'm
    looking for.
Another note:  When I open the published PDFs, I am able to use Acrobat's search to find the text.... and the text is selectable; so it's not as if the conversion changed it to an image.
So....would anyone happen to have encountered this issue?  Or does anyone know what makes a PDF indexable by SharePoint search?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that the PDFs which are converted from Office documents by Acrobat cannot be crawled in your SharePoint 2010.
For your issue, please make sure these PDFs version is 1.5(Acrobat 6.x) or above.
You can take steps as below for verifying:
Open your PDF using Adobe Reader.
    Go to File -> Properties.
Check the PDF Version under Advanced section.

Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?
Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
    - a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
    - other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

  • How to use .joboptions file while converting from Word to PDF

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to Acrobat. I'm using Acrobat XI. I need to convert a word document to a PDF file which conforms to certain requirements described by a given .joboptions file. The .joboptions file can be opened by distiller, but as far as I know distiller is not invovled in the conversion (Word to PDF) process. So how can I make sure the converted PDF file meets the requirement described by the .joboptions file?

Distiller is used when converting from Word to PDF, if you do it via the Acrobat panel, not the Adobe PDF printer or Word's internal Export to PDF command. If you've loaded your joboptions file in Distiller (via Settings - Add Adobe PDF Settings), then you will see it in the drop-down of Conversion Settings when you click the Preferences button in the Acrobat panel in Word.
After you've selected your job options profile click the Create PDF button, and the file will be converted using the selected options.

    Hi,
Acrobat 7 is not tested with Office 365. However your PDF Printer is working fine then you can print your office files to it.

    Hey Mario,
Please let me know what Acrobat version are you using.
Does this happen with all PDF files or any specific one? How are you trying to convert the PDF to word?
You might try repairing Acrobat and then check.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Black Pages - Convert from Word to PDF

When I convert a Word document to a PDF, the pages on the PDF document are black.  This only happens on select Word document that use a specific cover graphic.  I've sent the same document to a co-worker and they were able to convert the document to PDF with no issues.  I have verified my preferences with my co-worker and these are the same.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader (10).  I was previously able to convert a Word document with the same graphic to PDF without any issues.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Adobe Reader can't convert from Word to PDF.

  • Since 11-4-14 every convert from Word to PDF has failed online or desktop - when will this be sorted

Since 11-4-14 EVERY convert from Word to PDF either online or desktop has failed, when will this be fixed?

No replies on here so went online and tried various options including "repair reader installation" plus uninstall and reinstall etc, some posts suggested a repair from the Printers file (Vista) so installed AdobeCreatePDF desktop printer plus Xerox Phaser PS printer as advised. All without any obvious sucess ie still no word docs converted after hours of trying. Then unexpectedly a further test convert attempt succeeded; tested again on desktop plus online and now all works fine as it did before. Who knows why - possibly only Adobe know. Will leave this thread here just in case the fail reappears over next few days!

  • Converting from Word to .pdf distorts formatting

When I convert a Word document to a .pdf, when I have a bulleted list and the first sentence of each bullet is underlined, format gets distorted when I print to .pdf. I've retyped the document from scratch and experimented with a few different fonts and regardless, the results are the same. One or two of the bullets appear normal (so does the underlined text) and then a few other bullets and the underline itself (but not the text) appear bolded.
Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or solutions? Thank you.

You really need to post version details
If you are using Word 2007 try the Microsoft product at this link
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED87 041&displaylang=en
If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)

  • Converting from WORD to pdf always fails the first time

OS is XP. Acrobat Pro 8.1.5. When I first convert from WORD, EXCEL, whatever the program appears to be working but no file is created.  This happens always on the first time I convert to pdf for the day.  Once I do it again, it works and continues to work throughout the day.  I turn off my computer at night and again the next day when I come in it doesn't convert the first time but will work again.  Is there something in Windows or Acrobat that I can fix to get this to work properly?

If you are using Word 2007 (you don't say) you might try the Microsoft plugin... this is instead of Acrobat
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED87 041&displaylang=en
If you are using an earlier version of Word (or Word '07) make sure you have installed all Microsoft Office updates, so you'll know this is not a Microsoft bug

  • How to convert document file in PDf format through workflow using sharepoint designer

Please suggest me solution it's urgent.....please.

    Hi Anil,
If Word Automation Services is installed in your environment then that may be an option (Providing you are only interested in converting MS-Word documents). However SharePoint does not ship with an out-of-the-box workflow activity that makes use of this.
You may want to consider some third party software that supports formats other than MS-Word as well and comes with workflow actions for SharePoint Designer (and Nintex Workflow) out of the box. Have a look at the
    Muhimbi PDF Converter for SharePoint.
Disclaimer, I worked on this product so I am obviously biased. (It works great though :-)

  • Convert Web Page to PDF formatting problem - 1st line of each paragraph outdented

    Hi Folks,
I get a formatting problem when I convert any web page to PDF using the 'Convert Web Page to PDF' option - the 1st line of each paragraph is outdented.
eg if i convert http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/whats-new-acrobat-xi.html I get this:
I get the same problem using IE 9, Chrome (latest) or Firefox 30.0. I don't get it converting a Word doc to PDF.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on a PC running Windows 7.
Is there a simple setting somewhere I am missing?
    Any help much appreciated!

Are you using "Adobe PDF" or "PDF or XPS?" I sounds like "Adobe PDF," but trying to be sure. Have you updated your Acrobat to the latest version? If not, try that.

    Hello TSN,
    Test Screen Name wrote:
Picking just one point: PDF -> EPS -> PDF. This could not possibly do more than one page, because EPS is absolutely by definition a single page format. Therefore you must choose a page when exporting PDF to EPS.
    Thanks for your response.
I was thinking Microsoft... which has allowed multi-page eps files for years. But you're correct, this is normally an unsupported .eps format.
I solved the problem over the weekend by doing the following:
    1) I removed the suspect OTF font family but despite doing so, the folder still had two 'corrupted' but unused copies of an italic font. They refused to remove so I had to boot into Win7 SAFE mode to remove.
    2) After complete removal of the OTF font family. I reinstalled the OTF font *BUT* only from a different repository (oddly, this other OTF font set is slightly larger per font).
    3) Once installed, I tested with Flare, published and uploaded to Crocodoc SUCCESSFULLY. Yeah!
I don't have anymore time to test but the questions remain, such as, was it one or more of the following issues:
    a) Flare has a problem handling some OTF fonts or cannot error correct (the way other programs do) for marginal fonts or font errors?
    b) Was it the two corrupted fonts in the Windows/fonts folder?
    c) Was it the slightly different OTF fonts that I am no longer using?
    Take care
