Convert Page to Doc - Color Changing
When converting .pages files to .doc files, the color of my business logo changes from green to pink. The logo file is a jpeg. Any suggestions?
To open a JPEG and check that colourand model and ICC colour space, convert the colourand model from one ICC colour space to another ICC colour space, or correct the colours using the embedded ICC colour working space, open in Apple Preview > Document Info > Colour Model: [e.g. CMYK, RGB] > ColorSync profile: [- means none, Generic XXX Profile means the object is device colour and the system has assigned a source ICC profile automatically, anything else means that the source ICC profile was embedded by the application that wrote the file to disk].
The Apple ColorSync Utility can be used to convert the colourant model from the embedded/assigned ICC colour space to the same colourant model or another colourant model through the destination ICC colour space selected by the user. Currently, the conversion cannot cross-render for proofing, but this is irrelevant in this case.
As well in Apple Preview as in the Apple ColorSync Utility, colour correction can be done. The colour correction uses the embedded/assigned ICC colour space as source and converts into the destination ICC colour space for the current state of the colour display. So, it makes a lot of sense to have minimally a colourimeter as eyeballing calibration and characterisation using the Apple Default Calibrator supplied in the system is not exactly easy.
With regard to CMYK in older imaging models. CMYK is neither supported in Apple QuickDraw under OS Classic nor in Microsoft Graphics Device Interface under Windows prior to the Presentation Foundation in Windows 6. An application that depends on drawing in system services cannot hand CMYK to system services since system services don't support CMYK - only RGB. If the system services are smart, they will support an ICC colour managed conversion. If the system services are dumb, they will support a colour blind algorithmic conversion of the colourants in the channels.
I'm surprised that Word 2004 or Word 2008 would be RGB only, since ColorSync has supplied support for colour managed conversions through the lifetime of OS X and since ColorSync cannot be disabled in OS X as it could in OS 9 and lower.
Strange.

Page Properties- Background Color Change
Can anyone help me here? I know how basic the subject sounds
but for some reason it does cause me trouble here today.
We recently had a company design our site and now we are
using contribute to edit pages etc. Now, we have admin access so
that isnt an issue. But when we want to start a BRAND NEW PAGE
outside of any templates, we cannot change the background color. It
is greyed out when you go to Format- Page Properties- Appearance.
Its frustrating. It should be as easy as changing it, but no can
do. Any thoughts? It's good then that you have adminstrator rights, because the
solutiojn is in the role settings. You will have to edit the role
settings to your needs.
In the menu pick Edit, Administer websites, Choose your
website.
Choose Users and roles, Edit role settings
Choose Styles and fonts
I think you'll find all the options you need here, check the
ones you want and of you go again!

How do I batch convert Pages to Doc?
I want to bathc convert my Pages files to .doc.
IF you have suggestions re: Applescript, I am a total novice in that area.
Thnaks, GerryThe English instructions say:
Save the script as script or application bundle.
Run it or drag and drop a folder icon on its icon.
It opens every Pages's documents stored
in the folder and save it as DOC file in a folder named "was_Pages_now_DOC".
This one may be on the desktop or in the "~/Documents" folder.
according to the property storeOnDesktop.
This means that once the script opens in Script Editor go to File & Save As… then choose Script or Application Bundle from the File Format drop-down menu. I prefer Script, but try both if you'd like. -
Color change in RAW file from CR2 to DNG
I recently got a new Canon camera, the 60D and when converting from the CR2 file format to the DNG format using the latest 7.2 version of DNG Converter I notice a color change between the original image (CR2 file) to the new DNG file. Once I open it into Camera RAW (version 4.6 with CS3) the color issues go away and if I save it as a JPEG the color issue is no longer a problem but if I were to resave the DNG file to another DNG file it reverts back to the color changed view in MacOS. Is this something that I need to be concerned with for future use of the RAW files or is it a display issue in MacOS and iPhoto. The DNG file also shows the color change in iPhoto. Below are the two screen caps.
RAW CR2 file straight from the camera
Converted RAW CR2 to DNG using DNG converter
This issue only appears to occur in preview mode or in iPhoto.
Thanks,
NathanTry changing the CAMERA’S color-profile settings from sRGB to Adobe RGB or from Adobe RGB to sRGB, switch to the opposite one, and see if the previews are any closer for new CR2 you convert to DNGs. The theory is that the preview is in terms of the camera Color Profile setting (sRGB vs Adobe RGB) and when the image is converted to DNG that profile is lost for iOS to see, and it is defaulting to the wrong profile.
In the end , what matters is how Camera Raw converts the file.
Also DNGC 7.3 is the latest version: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ -
Batch convert Pages files to Doc and stay in the same folder?
Hi there,
I use iWork '09 on Mountain Lion. I recently switched to Microsoft Word and prefer it over Pages (personal preference). However, I have nearly 1000 files on my computer that are in Pages format. I have extensively searched this issue in the Apple Support Communities and it appears that there are scripts that DO EXIST that batch convert Pages files into Word files. However, it appears that many of these scripts were built for older versions of iWork and therefore I run into various errors. For example, I used the script available at http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2008/01/export-folder-to-word-rtf-pdf-txt-or.html and click run but nothing actually happens (the script runs for less than a second, then I can click run again). I was able to use one script successfully (pasted below), but the only reason I can't use it is because it saves ALL my converted documents in one folder on my desktop and I would like a script that can save them in the original file were the Pages document is located.
So, is there an iWork '09 compatible script that can convert my Pages documents to Word documents and save them in the same folder as the original? Oh, and for an added bonus, it'd be cool if the script also deleted my Pages version after it was done with the conversion

Batch convert Pages files to doc and pdf. -
In MAC, I want to change document size from 8.5X11 to 18X24 to create a poster to print through Staples. I created the doc originally in WORD, changed the size in WORD, converted to PDF doc. But PDF doc is still in 8.5X11. Read ADOBE support help info. Terls me to change size in application rather than printer. BUT ACROBAT Pro does not give me a page set up option in FILE. I can only find one in the printer dialog box. Help!
from the FAQs on Staples website:
I have a file that I know is a PDF, but the website claims it is not in a PDF format. What should I do?
Check to see that the file has the .PDF extension. Also, check that the filename does not have any special characters such as an ampersand (“&”).
Regarding your measurements set to centimeters rather than inches; is it just in MS Word?
Or does it occur in all other applications.
Check your Work preferences first:
If it is happening in all your applications, check your Mac OS System Preferences. -
When I convert my pdf doc to word, the fonts go really weird and it also puts some text into boxes. when I try to select the text and change the font, it does not change it properly? This is making it impossible to amend.
Hi Janedance1,
If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)
Please let us know how it goes.
Best,
Sara -
I have two pdf docs that I converted to Word Docs using Acrobat Pro. How do I extract one page from the first doc and insert it into the second doc? When I "select all" it grabs the entire document. I need to take pages out, put other pages in, and edit some of the text.
HI djlarp,
Try triple-clicking in the text that you want to select--it can sometimes be tricky to select text in a converted document. If that doesn't work, it could be that the PDF document was created from a scanned document, and OCR wasn't enabled when you converted the document. (However, OCR is enabled by default when you convert via the ExportPDF website.)
If you're unable to select text by triple-clicking, let us know. I would be happy to take a closer look at your files.
Best,
Sara -
Why when I am converting a 50 page word doc into a PDF using Acrobat XI Pro the pages are moving around.
It appears to be happening in the places where the previous page is not a complete full page, just a half page.
It is moving these pages up into the previous half page, but it is only moving them several lines into that page
Which has totally distored my e-book.
It is attaching all my pattern sheets at the very end of the file okay, etc. Also, to be more sure you get in the PDF what you are seeing in WORD, go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer, then go back to editing. The is a feature of almost all word processors to reflow the document for best results with the attached printer. It is also one of the problems of using WORD forms that such form designers miss. If you don't like the reflow, many the Adobe PDF printer your default and always print to Acrobat. If you want it to go to a printer, then print from Acrobat to that printer and it should remain intact. The other way to avoid the reflow is to use a layout program like Publisher or InDesign.

Hi. I've added a new page to my iWeb '08 version 2.0.4 website, but can't seem to select the top menu items to make a rollover color change. I can select them on the original pages. What am I forgetting to do?
Old Toad has a tutorial about changing the colors in the iWeb default menu...

I'm converting a word doc to a pdf and have a color spin wheel - going on 10 min now. any clue as to why? or how i make it stop?
Hit command tab and swtich to the Finder, under the Apple menu is Force Quit, do that to the program that is causing your "hang" and restart the program and what you were doing.
If you didn't save your file beforehand, then your going to have to make it again. -

Right. If you are using delegated privs and sudo, make sure that sudo is configured to pass on the PERL5LIB and ORACLE_HOME environment variables at least.

Colors change when saving to PDF from InDesign
I admittedly don't understand color handling, no matter how much I seem to read about it. Lately my files that I've been exporting to PDF from Indesign have looked slightly different and odd to me once they're converted to PDF. Sometimes the colors are dull, sometimes the drop shadows are a weird grey... Here's the latest example. Perhaps someone has some wisdom for me here...
I created this poster in Illustrator. Here's how it looks in Illustrator:
Then I went into Indesign and linked the file. (this is strange...) When I display the file with "typical display", it displays as such:
That looks pretty good... But when I set the display to "high quality display", I get this:
This is also the result I get when I open the exported file in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Why the color change?
Any ideas?
Thanks!Thanks, Will...
So, upon investigating, I realized that my color space in Illustrator was RGB... Damn... I must have overlooked that... When I convert (in Illustrator) to CMYK, I get those strange colors again.
When I export to PDF, the Output is "no color conversion", so it's not being converted to CMYK yet...
Plus, I just linked the AI files in Indesign when I placed them in there.
So, Indesign must be converting the file to CMYK? And that's why the colors change once I convert to PDF? What do you think?
Also, I used InDesign to place the files so that I could create a 2-page pdf easily that the printer could work with. I had a 4-up handbills page in there that I was planning on printing as well.
So, if this looks best in RGB, what do you think about me sending an RGB file to the printer and then printing it that way? I've been told that RGB is no good for printing, but I've also read otherwise as well...

Problem converting Word 2007 DOC to PDF 9
Problem converting Word 2007 DOC to PDF 9
I have a Word 2007 DOC (not docx) file with pictures and text which converted perfectly with Distiller 8. I installed CS4 Distiller 9, and now the same DOC file flows over onto several extra pages. I am using the default settings. Any idea what has changed. Thanks in advance.First, select the Adobe PDF printer in WORD. Then go through the document to check for the flow of the document. It should print the same as you see in the document after the printer has been selected.

Pages won't save changes to files
This has happened twice already in a row: I perform changes to a file, and Pages will later on display a previous version of that same file. As a consequence, I lose ALL of the changes I have done.
This had not happened before, and I'm running an updated version of the app.
Did anyone have the same problem and was able to solve it?
Thank you.JennyThorpe wrote:
I am trying to do a resume (used one of the templetes on Pages). When I change the font and the color of the font and try to save it as a .doc, then I get out of it and get back into the document, it doesn't save it. In fact it, when I save it and then go back in one time the color has changed back to the original, then the next time I save what I want and go back in, the text in one line has changed back to a different font. It just goes back and forth like this when I save the document. This is only happening in the header. Please help. I have tried to change and save what I want for hours now but what I want the font and color to look like is not "sticking".
If you save the document as a .doc do you get the changes in that document?
Do you mean by " get back into the document, it doesn't save it" that it isn't saved in Pages? If you haven't saved the Pages document it will not remember your changes. If you mean that the template you have used doesn't remember your changes it doesn't, never, because the template is just that. You have to save the changed document as a template and it will be saved in "My Templates" and found in the template chooser.

Possible to get data from a partly optimized/stripped core file?
Hello, This may not be possible, but I figured it was worth asking about. I've got a C/C++ GUI application compiled with Solaris Studio 12.3 that is experiencing an infrequent crash when compiled for production and running on production boxes. This

How do I change the Bookmark Font size in Firefox 7?
The Bookmark Font size in Firefox 7 for Mac is too small and I want to increase it. I don't want to change all font sizes, just the bookmark font size.
