Convert Pages into good quality PDF.
Hi,
I just made a poster in Pages. I converted the file to PDF by using the option: Share > Send by Mail > PDF.
Had never done it before, and don't know much about it, but it turned out great. I sent it to a publisher for printing. But he couldn't use the PDF file because it did not have a good enough quality. The file size is about 500 kB when the Pages size is 3,7 MB.
Is there a better way to get the pages file converted to PDF at the best quality?
Please help
Much appreciated.

Presumably the problem is that the poster includes one or more photographic images. A photographic image is a pattern of picture elements, technically termed pixels.
The pattern of picture elements has a particular density, defined at a point in the process before the photographic image is imported into the pagination software, in this case Apple Pages.
The density of a pattern of picture elements is measured by the number of picture elements across and the number of picture elements down in a square inch. The density is referred to as the resolution or DPI Dots Per Inch.
A display is not able to draw higher densities and usually resolution of around 100 DPI; higher resolutions are downsampled automatically. Thus there is no benefit to adding resolution if the drawing target is displays only.
A large format inkjet is able to draw at resolutions of around 1000 dots per inch and a prepress imagesetter is able to draw at still higher resolutions. If there is insufficient resolution, image detail is insufficient.
Because of sophisticated algorithms for creating pixel clusters of sufficient size to print on a press, and separated into the four process colourants, it is a bit dicey to define the universally right resolution.
Stochastic screening does not need as high resolution for visually satisfactory detail as some aproaches to screening, but in any case what the printer probably meant was that the image resolution should be increased.
Try importing an image resolution of 300DPI for colour images. This should work well in most cases.

Merge Different Spools containing a Single PDF page into a Single PDF file.
Greetings,
I am developing a custom object where in i need to read PDF file from many different Spools(Range given on Input Screen), where each spool has a single PDF page in it. I need to combine all these PDF Pages into a single PDF file & either create a new Spool or save it on an Application Server.
At present i have developed the code where in i am able to read the PDF files from different spools & convert them into Binary but i am not able to generate it back to PDF file.
Kindly find my code for your reference.

How to combine pdf pages into a single pdf document
I´ve done this before but I forgot. Can anyone help me?
Hi profesora.2014.2015,
Adobe Reader is a free trusted standard for reliably viewing, printing, and annotating PDF documents. It’s the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all types of PDF content, including forms and multimedia.
In order to combine PDF pages into a single PDF file, you need to either use Adobe Acrobat (Merging and combining PDF files | Acrobat XI - Adobe India) or Adobe PDF pack (Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack). -
Inserting pages into a single pdf
Got a new computer w/ Vista (boo!). Now I am unable to insert additional pages into a basic pdf.
Example:
I scan 4 one-page documents onto my computer, which I want to merge into one.
In the XP version of my Acrobat Reader, I could open "page 1" (or whatever you want to call it), then just scroll down to "insert" from the main menu & browse for the additional pages, as long as I had saved them as PDF's. Done.
How do I do it now? I don't see "insert" anywhere. Thanks, RickThe free Reader has never been capable of inserting or deleting pages; it does very little more than what its name implies: read PDF files. If you could previously insert pages in PDF files, you must have had some version of Acrobat.

How do I copy an entire document from pages into email (not pdf) and have color and format the same as the document created in pages?
Pages ’09 v4.3 and Pages v5.2.2 are entirely different document architectures. Consequently, copying and pasting a table from Pages ’09 circumvents the customary translation process that would occur if you opened that Pages ’09 document in Pages v5.
Make a backup copy of the Pages ’09 document that has the table in it, and then open this document in Pages v5.2.2. The table is translated into Pages v5 document format and displayed correctly. You can even select this Pages v5.2.2 table, and then copy/paste it into another Pages v5.2.2 document with accurate results. -
Scan multiple pages into a single PDF document?
How can i scan multiple pages into a single multipage PDF file?
I've seen similar questions posted, but I haven't found any good answers. The only advice i saw was to scan each page as a separate PDF document, then merge them into a single PDF using third-party software.
Obviously, i don't want to have to do that.
I can't believe that there really is no way to do it using the existing HP print/scan utilities provided with the hardware.
My printer/scanner is the "HP Photosmart 5514 e-All-in-One Printer - B111h", and i'm running Vista (64-bit) on an HP Pavillion notebook.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi,
From the HP Scan software (Start > Programs > HP > HP Photosmart 5510 Series > HP Scan) select PDF and ensure the resolution is 300 DPI or lower.
Ensure the Show Scan Preview option is checked and click on Scan.
Once scanning the first page completes, place the next page on the glass and click the plus button below the scan preview...
Once you are done click on Save.

Inserting pages into a multiple pdf documents in a few steps.
Dear All,
Is there a way to insert pages from what pdf into another in a few simple steps? I know how to manually insert a page into a document (have to pdfs open and drag and drop) but if you have 500 pdf documents you need to insert into 500 pdfs, it becomes a tedious process. I was wondering if there is anyway to do that in one step? I know you can password protect multiple docs in one step so I am sure acrobat has this functionality but I just don't know about it. Thank you in advance for your help!Since there's only one one-page generic document to be added after each PDF file, I think you can just use the basic features of the Action Wizard without using JavaScript. I just did a quick test.
Here are two tutorials on using the Action Wizard:

Convert Excel into Password Protected PDF Files
Hello Aandi/Lenoard,
I believe you are the Adobe Forums administrators so I thought you guys are the right people to approach.
OTHERS ARE ALSO INVITED TO COMMENT ON THIS TOPIC.
I have C# desktop app which generates Excel files and our goal is to convert these excel files one at a time into password protected PDF files. We use a 3rd party software currently, but I am challenging myself into saying that I can use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 SDK to achieve what is required .
I have downloaded Acrobat 9.0 SDK and also have Adobe Professional 8.0(trail) in my development machine. Can you firstly tell me if this is possible and secondly what would be required on the client machines to run it?
THanks,
Andy"Encrypt with Password" is the policy name, not the policy id.
Did you try enumerating the policy object to see how to set it up? I ran this from the console to get the policy details:
var policy = security.chooseSecurityPolicy();
for ( var i in policy )
console.println(i + ": " + eval("policy." + i));
That will pop up your list of policies. Choose "Encrypt with Password" and hit Apply, which returned the following:
policyId: SP_STD_default
name: Encrypt with Password
description: This policy will allow you to set an open or modify password on a document.
handler: Adobe.Standard
target: document
Of course, all you really need are the policyId, handler and target. Make sure you read and thoroughly understand the security requirements documented in the API reference for this method as well. -
Converting Pages PostScript file to PDF
Can someone with a similar setup test this Pages PS file technique out and see if you can do it?
This was a tip from a Pages User/Blogger, as a way to get truer color printing of a Pages doc when moving it from the 3-color screen version to a four color commercial printer. He suggested saving the Pages file as Postscript, and then using Apple Preview, open and convert the Postscript to a PDF. I can't open the PS file with Preview, and it fails in the conversion to PDF. I get an error message: couldn't convert to a PDF/Couldn't open the file.
I contacted the Blogger; he was surprised it fails, given the long time use of PS and PDF files. He suggested that I ask someone with a set-up similar to mine to try this, and help me determine if it's my computer or the software that's failing (or me!). I'm working on a G-5, with OS 10.4.8, and Pages 2.02.
(Note, I've also tried doing this through Adobe Distiller, and that doesn't work either. That it fails in Preview seems to say to me that it's not just a problem with the version or settings in Adobe PRo/Distiller, but perhaps with Pages?).
Thanks! It turned out that my two posted issues were related. The table on page one that was raising havoc with header and footers was also causing the PS to PDF conversion problems as well. I still have to resolve the table issue, but at least you helped me recognize where the printing issue was coming from!

How do you scan pages into an existing PDF document?
Older versions of Acrobat would let you scan additional pages right into the currently opened PDF file and would ask do you want to insert before/after document start and after a certain page number.
Now we have the newer version of Adobe and I have found out that you scan scan a document into a new PDF file and save it and then import it into the currently open PDF but isn't there a way to do this direct without creating a new PDF file like the older versions did?
ThanksHello!
To scan directly into the pdf file should go to:
Panel "Tools" / Insert Pages / More Insert Options / Insert from Scanner / ...
You can also right-click the tool "More Insert Options" and select Add to Quick Tools. -

Converting a Pages Doc into a quality PDF?
I have created my resume within Pages and when I export it to a PDF, the fonts appear to blur and lose significant quality. Is this an Adobe issue? Are there certain fonts that do not convert? THX!
OK. I'll play.
How many guesses do we get to find out what fonts you are talking about, what application you are using to view the pdfs, and what system it is on?

In Internet Explorer, I am able to install into the menu tool bar - Convert to pdf. Can I do the same with Firefox.
Secondly, when I tried to print to "Adobe pdf", the page does not fully represent the webpage?See if Adobe has a PDF Toolbar extension for Firefox.
Or, look into a PDF extension for Firefox, such as these extensions. <br />
