Convert (Parallel) Assignments

Dear Guru's,
Is it in any way possible to convert (parallel) assignments , A071/ A067 relationshops,  in shift planning using LSMW ?
Or is a download and upload from table HRP1001 a better way to achieve the migration of the data.
Tips are welcome,
Kind regards

FOR loop.  You put the write inside of the FOR loop and you pass the array to the FOR loop.  Use autoindexing and you will be writing out the one value at a time through the entire array.

  • Convert parallel printer to USB?

Newbie iMac 24" 2.16 GHz white mac owner, can I just purchase a parallel to USB cable, plug it in to my old parallel port only NEC Superscript 870 printer and then be able to use my old printer with my new {old} iMac?
    Thanks everyone
    Roger

While I completely understand everyone's suggestion that the original poster buy a modern, USB printer (rather than attempting to keep the parallel printer in use), there may be cases where this is not possible. I have recently become interested in getting a dot matrix printer with a parallel printer port to connect to a Mac.
Our small family business has been gradually replacing our Windows PCs with Macs (yeah!). An issue we will face when replacing one PC in particular is how to continue to print to a parallel port-based printer. We have state-required contracts on forms with two carbon copies. We feed these forms into our dot matrix printer to fill out the contracts because we need the printer to make an impression onto the carbon pages.
We only need to print text, not graphics or images. So, I believe the drivers included with OS X will suffice. Now, if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions on parallel-to-USB cables or other similar hardware, I'd be interested to hear them. (By the way, we don't need to share or network the dot matrix printer. It will be directly connected to only one Mac.) Thanks.

  • Converting a CS3 project with assignments to CS5 format

    Hi,
is there an easy way to convert CS3 assignments to the new CS5 format?
We have a huge (370 pages; 70 assignments) publication that runs once a year.
Last year we were working with InDesign/InCopy CS3 (5.04).
This year we have to produce the new issue in CS5. Production is starting soon (1-2 weeks) and we want to re-use the old publication as much as possible. Therefore we want to start with last year's layout and just make the necessary changes. Layout/Design is pretty stable and won't change much.
Unfortunately, both InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5 can't check out the old assignments - they have to be converted. On a smaller publication we already re-created the assignments but I really don't want to do that with 70 assignments unless abolutely necessary. The whole thing is pretty complex...
Is there a way to re-create existing assignments in the new format? I'm not too afraid to start scripting something but I hope there's an easier way. I guess we aren't the only ones facing this problem.
I'm greatful for any hints in all directions.
    Best regards,
    Mike

    Anne-Marie and Bob,
thanks for taking the time to answer - had to digest that, though
Weeeeeelll I fear it's not that easy.
    @Bob:
Over here the project (publication) isn't done until it's printed. So we have to cope with last second changes.I fear that we will never be able to exactly estimate when it's time to unlink the InCopy stories. Probably nothing that's new to you...
    But I see the point...
So we should unlink everything now and rebuild the assignments from scratch for the 2010 issue? I will have to test that. It's PIA but if it gets the job done... The last thing I want is to have the file break down in mid-project.
@Anne-Marie: yes, those are real actual assignments, all created from the layouted pages (the format is pretty strict with the space each article/segment gets so that was pretty clear from the beginning). One .inca per assignment (one assignment per article/segment) + several .incx for the text frames it contains. Overall number of .incx files: 1059.
What I (we) want to do is to take the old version, archive it (done that) and start a new issue thats an exact copy in the beginning. But the new one has to be in CS5.
I'm not really comfortable with going the idml route - we have about 50 linked (and formatted) excel tables in there that are very sensitive to minor changes. In fact, I dare not to touch them at all if possible.
Will saving to idml keep all the formatting? Just getting the tables to work took about a week but saved us about 2 weeks of editing time and a lot of pain. We absolutely can't lose them. But I guess trying it won't hurt...
Anyway, you have certainly pointed me in the right direction - I will have to discuss it with my colleagues before actually doing anything to the files.
    Many thanks,
    Mike
    ps:
I had the impression that when you "save as" an InDesign  file with assignments in it it always re-creates new assignments instead  of using the old ones. We had some hassle with that "feature" when we  tried to make backup copies of the first InDesign/InCopy projects we did.

  • Parallel to serial shift register 74LS166

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to convert a parallel digital data into a serial data. I used 74LS166. Somehow, I got nothing on output pin. Does anybody know why?
    thanx for helping.

    Hi Sprooch,
Thank you for posting on this forum.Via the following weblink you go to a page where you can download an example VI for converting hexadecimal-formatted integer data to serial data. This is also called converting parallel data into serial data.

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • HP Laserjet 6MP fails to print with parallel-to-USB converter cable

I have a LaserJet 6 MP parallel printer which I was using in 10.3.9 with a parallel-to-USB converter cable. The Printer Utility saw it natively as a USB device and it printed just fine most of the time, although it would occasionally fail to print, so I installed a different driver called usbtb 1.0.15, and after that it printed very reliably.
Now I've upgraded to 10.4.9, and the Printer Utility still detects the HP printer natively as a USB device, and I also installed the formerly-reliable usbtb driver again, but the printer now fails to print with either driver. It acts like it's going to, but then it quits.
When I choose Print, all the features of the printer are shown, and I can select which tray to take paper from etc., and the printer dialogue box says "Printing," the activity light on the printer flashes just as it always does when printing is in progress, but then, instead of printing, the activity light stops flashing and the print job disappears from the dialogue box.
Can anyone tell my why this printer is failing to print now, and how I might be able to get it working again?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Wait a minute! It's only certain Indesign documents that won't print.
    All TextEdit docs will print.
I created a few scribbles in Photoshop and they print.
But with InDesign, there is no predicting which documents will print or will not print. On some that will not print, if I remove all but one text box, then they will print. On other documents that do print, if I copy some text off of one that won't print and paste it in, then that one stops printing too.
On some that won't print, if I erase everything on the page and create a new text box and type a few words into it, the page will print. If I revert to the previously saved version, once again the page won't print.
What kind of craziness is this, anyway? It seems random. I can't figure it out.
Even on the documents that won't print, when I try to print them the printer's activity light blinks as though it is just about to print, but then the light goes out without printing.
Anybody got any ideas what this problem is and how to fix it?
All I know is that EVERYTHING printed before I upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.9.

  • USB to Parallel Converter

Has anyone had success using any USB to parallel port converter?  I've tried 3 different cables including one that supposedly supported the full IEEE-1284 standard, but all of them show up only as a virtual printer port.  Is there a way to get access to this port through LabView?  Are there any cables/converters out that actually show up as a regular parallel port?  I've searched far and wide for one, but had no luck.  I searched the boards to see if anyone had done this, but most of the posts were over a year old and had no resolution confirming whether or not a proposed solution worked or not.  Thanks in advance for any help,

What OS are you using? I had the same problem with XP and LabVIEW 7.0 & &.1. But using the same USB-parallel  port converter under WIN2k I was able to access this as a parallel port. In the end my solution was to go to a PCI parallel port which worked fine under both OSes.

  • Usb to parallel port converter

    Hello all
I am having usb to 36 pin parallel port converter and i try to communicate with that to run a stepper motor.
how can i communicate with that.?  I plan to use visa function for that, what are all the pins i have to be grounded. (Can i use visa write funtion for that?)
i have read in forums for IEEE1284 standard i have to ground pin 11 and pin 12.
And i dont know one more thing, in max i can see only COM ports without any problem and i cannot see any usb port in that.
Is COM port and usb port are same.?

This may make things more difficult. You can try if outport to the port addresses hex378 or hex278 works, but probably it doesn't. You may try to find out if your device has a different port address.
A PCMCIA parallel port normally works like a standard one. with the 378 or 278 port address.

  • Want to convert existing Parallels virtual disk to Boot Camp

I have an existing Parallels VM running on a virtual disk. I'd like to transfer that to a Boot Camp partition. Can this be done?
Most of the discussion here and elsewhere is about the reverse - importing a Boot Camp setup into Parallels, and/or setting up a new virtual machine using the Boot Camp partition. That's NOT what I want to do, though it may be what I end up doing, I guess.

I was only saying that whatever VMware and Parallels do to have one license for VM AND for Boot Camp "stretches" the EULA a bit.
+Please make sure that you do not violate the licensing agreement of your operating system and other installed software by virtualizing your system.+
People with Mac Pro definitely are running multiple VMs today.
    As for if/how to convert:
    http://www.paragon-software.com/home/go-virtual/
easily migrates a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V) and vice versa (V2P)

    Supported Virtual Machines

I don't see Macs and Parallels being supported.
Windows 7 Virtual Hard Drives are also interesting and have some nice features. Like boot to a VHD.

  • Serial to parallel converter in labview

Hi. Does anybody know how to convert serial data to parallel data using labview? I already used shift registers but it's not working.

    Ralp wrote:

You still need to be much clearer. LabVIEW does not have "registers". LabVIEW is a programming language, not a circuit simulator.
What is the datatype of the serial data? booleans, bits, bytes, U8, etc.
What is the datatype of the parallel data? 1D array of what? How big can it get? What do you want to do with it?
Do you get one boolean at a time and simply want to append it to a boolen array? That would be trivial. What have you tried?

  • How to control parallel pins I/O thru USB converter

Few years back I developed a 5.1 Labview program and a 3 axis stepper motor control system. It used the parallel port on the PC for communications. The last several laptop PCs I purchased have no parallel ports, at all. So I bought some Manhattan (336581) USB to parallel convert cables. I'm attempting to use NI-VISA 3.0 to control the USB converter therefore a parallel port. I'm having some trouble finding the correct VendorID, ProductId, ManufactName, and Model Name. I did manage to create a .inf and then .pnf files from info I received but Measurement&Automation Explorer doesn't find any Usb devices, much less the one I should have created. Once I do find the device, how do I control the IEEE-1284 pins at the 25 sub-d connector? I have the block diagram of USBTMC.vi but I'm confused as how to use output and input similar to the way I used to use "outport" and "inport"in 5.1 etc. Any suggestions how to control parallel I/O using a USB to Parallel converter. Thanks Robert

i use Quickbooks accounting for windows and when i bought my new mac i had to buy parallels desktop so that i could continue to use my accounting software.  it has been working since then and i dont know what happened, but now when i print something i get a message saying that states "Unable to Convert The ProScript File".

    i need this fixed a.s.a.p!!!!

I don't have Parallels; I use Fusion. And in Fusion you have the option to use the installed printer is OS X to print. I have seen printing from Windows 7 to the Mac printer result in errors and there is a chance you are having the same issue.
If Parallels has the same facility where you can use the Mac's printer then I would suggest that you install a Windows driver for your printer in Parallels and not use the Mac printer. This should stop the conversion error you are getting.

Could you please help me on serial to parallel patt. How can I convert my data from serial to parallel?
    Many tahnks

How are you reading the Manchester coded data into LabVIEW?  What data type are you using?
The convert from serial to parallel is still very ambiguous.  Are you trying to say you are taking an array of booleans and changing them into array of bytes?
Are you outputting through an Analog Output?  Digital Output?  How fast do we have to put a value out?
