Convert pdf version 5 to pdf version 7

Hi !
I would like to know if it's possible to convert pdf file version 5 to pdf file version 7 ?
The reason is we have infra with Globalscan version x and the final result of the PDF file is version 5. We need to convert to version 7. I would like to know if it's possible to do the conversion in batch mode.
I know I can open pdf file and save to version 7 but we want to batch the process.
Anyone have any clues about to do that ?
Thanks in advance.
Eric

Well, if it's something you want to do without knowing the reason for it...
There is a PreFlight (Advanced > PreFlight ...) profile that comes with Acrobat 8 Pro under the "Acrobat/PDF version compatibility" heading called "Compatible with Acrobat 7". The description reads "Makes the current PDF compatible with Acrobat 7 and saves it as a PDF 1.6 document."
I just tried running that on a PDF 1.4 document and after running the fixups it then showed PDF 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) when you right-click on the file, choose Properties and go to the PDF tab.
Unless your client can provide valid reasoning for requiring your output to be PDF 1.6 I still feel this is a waste of time (since it's not a particularly fast operation - it scans the entire file checking each element to make sure it is 1.6 compliant before saving) but at least you have it as an option.

  • Does the online function cater for a PDF file created in version 9 to be converted to version 6

I am running Win98SE on one computer (A) and WindowsXP on another computer (B).
On Computer A I am running Adobe Reader 6.06.
On Computer B I am running Adobe Reader 9
Is there a methodology (presumably outside of Adobe Reader) to convert a version 9 file to a version 6 file so that it can be opened in Computer A?
Microsoft Office Word/Excel for example allows files created in current versions of Office to be opened in the current version and saved as an earlier version.
Does one have to buy the full Adobe Acrobat package to get a similar function?

No. Reader is just that a reader of pdf files. You would need Acrobat Standard or Pro to change a file to be read by an earlier version.

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • Getting 'Out of memory' error while opening the file. I have tried several versions of Adobe 7.0,9.0,X1. It is creating issue to convert PDF into TIFF. Please provide the solution ASAP

    Hello All,
I am getting 'Out of memory' error while opening the file. I have tried several versions of Adobe 7.0,9.0,X1.
Also, it is creating issue to convert PDF into TIFF. Please provide the solution ASAP.

I am using Adobe reader XI. When i open PDF it gives "OUT of memory" error after scrolling PDF gives another alert "Insufficient data for an image". after clicking both alerts it loads full data of PDF. It is not happening with all PDFs. couple of PDFs are facing this issue. Because of this error my software is not able to print these PDFS into TIFF. My OS in window7*64. I tried it on win2012R2 and XP. Same issue is generating there.
It has become critical issue for my production.

  • Free trial version stopped converting pdf to word file

    Hello -
I recently downloaded the free trial versio nof Adobe Reader XI, and for one day I was able to convert pdf files into Word files (doc, docx). I have not been able to do so since. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail. The furthest I can get is to click on the convert button within reader, and then when I click on 'view converted files' I am sent to a website that asks me to subscribe in order to use the conversion function. This looks to be a somewhat common bug with this software, which leaves me very little confidence that this would be a worthwhile purchase (I am a writing teacher and would like the ease of converting back and forth in the long term).
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank you and all best,
    Jen

Adobe Reader is free software; there is no trial for it.
The ExportPDF online service, initiated through Adobe Reader, is subscription based.  To the best of my knowledge there is no trial either.
The only trial there is to convert PDF to Word/Excel is Adobe Acrobat.

  • Convert pdf to word doc-but don't have the export option.

I want to convert a pdf (that I got from an email) into a Word doc so I can edit it the way I want to. However, for some reason now I don't have the 'Export' option in my File drop down list.
Funny thing is, I've converted the document once already and have entirely forgotten how I did it obviously!
I've made so many changes in my first conversion I want to start over.
why don't I have the 'Export' option? Or ... when I do a 'save as' and chose 'word doc' it only does a copy - paste type save - where I can't make any changes. It's like it puts it into a text box or something.
    I have MSWord 2010.

When I do the steps below, the Word doc that is saved is like a photo. I am unable to work with the document. Why does it do that? I have converted pdf’s before without that happening but I think I did it on a free 30-day trial of X Pro.
This usually happens when you're dealing with a very poor quality scanned document that doesn't have enough data for the Acrobat OCR engine to actually process.
As for Acrobat 6.0 Pro, I don't believe the Save as Word function was introduced until version 8.0, but it's been a few years and the memory of Acrobat 6 has faded a bit.

  • Unable to convert PDF files to any other file format using Acrobat XI Pro

    Acrobat XI Pro ver11.0.2
    Office 2013 Pro Plus
    Windows 8 Pro
When I open a PDF file and try to export file to: Word, RTF, Excel, XML or PowerPoint, I woud receive the error below.
Save As failed to process this document. No file was created.
I recall in the past that I was able to export PDF to Excel & Word.  I simply tried the other file formats to see what happens.
Unfortunately for me, this is happening to both of my machines.  Same version software except the other machine is Windows 7 Pro. I have admin level rights to both PCs.
Not sure what to do at this point.
As another test, I did the following.
Created a document in Word, then saved as a PDF file.  Opened that PDF file to save as a Word doc and I received the error listed above.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thank you

    Thank you for the suggestions
"Created a document in Word, then saved as a PDF file.  Opened that PDF file to save as a Word doc and I received the error listed above".
I used another machine.  Created a Virtual Machine with Office 2013 and Acobat XI and I do not have issues with converting PDF to any of the available formats.  Its not the file I'm using, its the software itself that is the issue.
Unfortunately, I did uninstall Office 2013 & Acrobat XI then reinstalled but I still have the problem so I can only guess once its broken in the registry, I will continue to have an issue.
For now, I'm going to move Acrobat XI on the VM since I dont have time to reinstall Windows 8.

    Hi bert090909,
Are you trying to convert your files from within Adobe Reader? If so, please make sure that you have the most current version by choosing Help > Check for Updates. Earlier versions of Reader could cause the specific error that you're reporting.
Please let us know how it goes.

  • Convert PDF Chrome extension does not appear/install for Acrobat 10 Pro

I have Acrobat 10 Pro and the Chrome extension to convert web pages to PDF does not appear in Chrome.  I tried repair installation from the Help menu in Acrobat and it still did not resolve this problem.  The extension also does not appear on the extension list, in case you're wondering if it's deactivated.  I am using Chrome Version 36.0.1985.143 m.
I would appreciate the links and steps I need to take in order to get the Adobe Convert to Webpage Chrome extension to be visible and functional on my Chrome toolbar and in my extensions list. The PDFMaker shows up in Internet Explorer.  I do not use Firefox.
I have already tried disabling all of my other Chrome extensions and run a repair of Acrobat via Actions.
I tried uninstalling Google Chrome, restarted my computer, downloaded the latest Chrome installer, installed Chrome, and launched Acrobat and repair Acrobat.
I'm totally at a loss at this point.
    Can you please help?
Thank you for your kind assistance!

    Hi angelczech,
The convert pdf extension will not appear in Chrome with Acrobat 10.
    It will with Acrobat 11.

  • I have acrobat 11 standard is it possible to convert pdf files to word files ?

I have acrobat 11 standard is it possible to convert pdf files to word files ? or is it just possible in the Pro version.

It sounds to me like you're using Reader, not Acrobat. Make sure you open
the PDF file in Acrobat, and then go to File - Save As Other - Microsoft
    Word.
