Convert point tool

When I make a path with the pen tool, then use the convert point tool to change my last point, then go back to the pen tool. Why does the pen tool not continue with my original path and creates a new one.
This is driving me crazy and its probably an easy fix.
Thanks,
Liz

You are using the pen tool incorrectly.
Experiment with the pen; click, click-drag, double-click-drag and so on.
Option drag on a smooth point converts it to a corner point etc.
No need to keep changing tools.

  • How do I switch to "Add Anchor Point Tool" and "Convert Point Tool" with shortcuts? (CS6)(Windows 7)

    I would like to know if there’re shortcuts to switch to" Add Anchor Point Tool" and "Convert Point Tool" on Photoshop CS6 while using a Windows 7 PC.
    Thank you for your time!!

    What I usually do is use the pen tool. Clicking anywhere on the path adds points, clicking on a point removes it and holding down the alt key while over a point is the convert point tool. Ctrl key is the direct selection tool and ctrl+alt key while dragging the object duplicates it.

    Larry,
    I Just tried the solution you gave. It did not work. I still have 1 point vectors in a very small image. The image is a simple drawing of a map. I just want to size it to fit a smaller page size.

  • Convert point on shape not working

    I have a round-corner box whose bottom I want to be flat, with 90˚ corners; the top corners I need to remain round.
    using Object>Convert Point, only one of the selected points actually changes from rounded to 90˚ corner. Any suggestions on how to get the other one to comply, too?
    thank you!
    w

    That would be live corners?
    I don't think you can use the Convert Point tool in this situation. You can set different corner options for each corner in the Object > Corner Effects... dialog, or use the Selection tool and hold down the Shift key while dragging one of the yellow diamonds at a corner to adjust them individually.

  • Convert Anchor Point Tool Won't Remove Handles

    I have handles on a point in Illustrator CC 2014. I am trying to click on the point with the "convert anchor tool" to remove the handles, but it is not working. I can manipulate the handles with the tool and move the points, but it will not delete the handles like normal.

    Brad,
    There may be something you are unaware of (Anchor Point(s) on top of Anchor Point(s) or something).
    If you deselect (click an empty spot or another object), then click the Anchor Point with the Direct Selection Tool, does the Anchor Point show normally with two Handles?
    If it does, can you ClickDrag each Handle into the Anchor Point and convert it that way?

  • After I exported a PDF to a Word doc and downloaded it, I can't get the pointer tool to work.

    After I exported a PDF to a Word doc and downloaded it, I can't get the pointer tool to work. When I click on the document text, the only tool is the "move" tool. I can't edit or select text. Please advise.

    Version of Adobe: Adobe ExportPDF (not Pro)
    Operating system:  Windows 8.1
    Steps I am taking: When the PDF file is selected and opened, I clicked on Tools menu on right side of the screen; then I clicked on Select PDF file; then under Convert To, I selected Microsoft Word (*.docx); then I hit the box below that; and clicked Convert. I then see the message that says it is Converting to Export PDF Online. Then I see a link below that, that says Download Converted File. This takes me online to Adobe Acrobat .com, where, I see the command, Export PDF, and see a blue box on the same screen that says Select PDF Files to Export. I click on the thumbnail of the file I want to export. This brings up, online, a screen containing the file I wanted to convert to Word. Then, on the same screen, I click on the icon on the right hand of the screen that says Download. then I click on the box on the bottom the screen that contains the Word document I had wanted to convert. This brings up the Word doc. in Compatibility Mode the latest Word version, which I am unfamiliar with and which has a Picture Tools tab that I cannot escape from and I cannot get any selection tool other that the Move pointer, and I cannot find the Select text pointer to select any text on the page. I don't want this Word version and do not know how to return to the old version of Word that I am familiar with.
    Can you help me, please?

  • InDesign CS4 Convert Point Commands

    I have a multi-segment path. When selecting one of the points (not one of the end points) with the Direct Selection tool, and choosing Object > Paths > Convert Point, none of the options seem to do anything or change the path in any way: Line End, Corner, Smooth, Smooth, Symmetrical. Can someone enlighten me?
    I know how to change points using the Pen tool and the Convert Anchor Point tool, but these commands in the menu don't seem to work.

    That's becasue they don't do quite what you expect, I think. At least they didn't work the way I thought they would when I tried them, so I checked the help file and found this:
    To convert points, you can also use the Direct Selection tool to select a point, and then choose a command from the Object > Paths > Convert Point menu. For example, you can select the smooth point at the bottom of a “U” shape and choose Object > Paths > Convert Point > Line End. Doing so removes the direction lines and makes a “V” shape. Choose Corner to create a point with direction lines that can move independently of each other. Choose Smooth Symmetrical to create a point with handles of equal length. Choose Smooth to create a point with handles that can have unequal lengths.
    So it appears that they actually do work, but not necessarily in a useful way all the time. It seems to depend on the type of point you start with, i.e converting a line end point to a smooth point won't add control handles and change the shape, but converting a smooth point to a line end will remove the control handles and make a sharp corner. I found once I'd used the menu commands I still needed to use either the convert anchor point tool to drag control handles where none previously existed, or the direct selection tool to move a control handle, so I'm afraid I don't see any more use for those commands than I do for the hidden tools under the pen tool itself. I learned long ago that when the pen tool is active pressing Alt (opt) brings up the convert andhor point tool, Ctrl (Cmd) brings up Direct select, and if a path is active the the add or delete anchor point tools are automatic.
    The only reason I can think of for using the menu command is that you already have the direct select tool active and you want to convert smooth points to corners without having to change tools.

  • How do I change the size of the point tool in an image

    Dear LabVIEW fans
    I want to have a very large "Point Tool" in an image display, actually it should cover the whole image as a crosshair. Does anyone know how do this? I've searched among the long list of image properties, but haven't found anything useful.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Lefi,
    You can use the Draw Line.vi to create a series of lines corresponding to the crosshairs.  The line style and thickness can be changed using the "pen" input the vi.  I tetsed this out a bit and attached a screenshot of the front panel and block diagram.  I got it pretty close but an extra line seems to be there and i'm not sure why.  I'm sure you can figure that part out
    The event case captures a user mouse move event for the picture indicator, the coordinates of the cursor are in the event node but need to be converted to be relative to the picture indicator, therefore the subtraction (this may be where I was off a bit).  The new coords are input to the Move Pen.vi in order to set the current pen position to the mouse position.  Thsi way the center of the crosshairs will be on the cursor.
    Hope this works for you.
    Dan

  • Help! I can't delete anchor points with the Delete Anchor Point Tool

    I have a shape in illustrator CS6 that I'm trying to edit. When I try to click on a point with the Delete Anchor Point Tool nothing happens however I am able to select the point using the Direct Selection Tool and then remove it using the "Remove selected anchor points" option in the Control palette. Same issue with trying to use the Convert Anchor Point Tool.
    Any ideas what's going wrong here?

    Another thought. If there are multiple nodes in that one spot, you may have to use the remove anchor point repeatedly to get rid of them all. It looks like you deleted the point and nothing happens, but really you are just seeing another node that was very close to the one you just deleted.
    If you select drag over them with the white arrow tool and choose remove anchor points it will remove them all at once.

  • How do I link to another anchored page using the point tool?

    Hello
    I am using the point tool (arrow tool) to link to anchors in my current page.  Is there a way of linking to anchors using the tool in another page (in others words one that I am not working on) or does it need to be done manually?
    Thank you
    Jake

    Arrow Tool???  Which arrow tool do you mean?
    Named anchors are deprecated in modern HTML standards.  To create links to content on the same page, set up some Div IDs like this.
    <section id="one">
         Content one goes here...
    </section>
    <section id="two">
         Content two goes here...
    </section>
    <section id="three">
         Content three goes here...
    </section>
    LINKS ON SAME PAGE:
         <a href="#one">Link 1</a>
         <a href="#two">Link 2</a>
         <a href="#three">Link 3</a>
    LINKS ON DIFFERENT PAGE:
         <a href="page_name.html#one">Link 1</a>
         <a href="page_name.html#two">Link 2</a>
         <a href="page_name.html#three">Link 3</a>

  • How do I fix my Pen Tool/Delete Anchor Point Tool in Illustrator?

    Problem One - I'm trying to change the form of my shape, and all of a sudden my Delete Anchor Point Tool isn't working. I'm clicking (and zoomed in A LOT) and it's not clicking on or deleting any of my anchor points.
    Problem Two - I'm not sure if it's just the slow speed of my work computer, but I'm trying to trace a shape in a photo that I have locked in the background, and when I click my pen tool it makes the point like 2 to 5 pixels away from where I'm clicking, so I can't precisely trace the shape that I would like to.
    Any tips and help on this ASAP would be great! Getting stuck like this is throwing off my productivity and it's very frustrating!
    Thank you!

    The problem was Google Chrome browser!  As soon as I quit Chrome my pen tool started working again.  I didn't even need to restart Fireworks.  I wonder if it is a conflict with one of my plugins/add ons.  Most likely.
    UPDATE - I did narrow it down to one specific Google Chrome extension.  It was "Google Play Music"

  • New feature: pressing alt while using the anchor point tool

    Hello,
    New feature doesn't work at my side ==> pressing alt while using the anchor point tool would allow to pair the handles again while dragging a handle. But if i press alt or if i do not press it, it does not change the working of my anchor point tool or handles. When i press alt i see the little sign apearing next to my cursor and that's all. Someone an idea what could be the problem?
    Thank you for your help.

    thank you!!!!! I clicked and dragged before..didn't understood apparently the function of the new feature for 100% ;-)

  • Anchor point tool doesn't work properly

    When I use the anchor point tool and want to adjust a path line, Adobe Flash often doesn't react until the 2nd or 3nt try. Does anyone know a solution for this? I use Adobe Flash CS6.
    Thanks for help

    This bug made its way into flash CC as well. Not exacly sure how to reproduce it, but the anchor point/point relocation preview doesnt work on shapes/lines when you try to pull or move them.
    The buged lines were created at 0.1 thickness and didnt work outright. A line created with 1.0 thickness worked as expected.
    My guess its in thickness + hiearchy (groups/objects) related?
    Here is a screencast of the bug: https://www.monosnap.com/file/SDxHRkqOAXE7QjOSetAsMyPhdbub1F/# I managed to create buggy and normal lines on one hiearchy level.

  • Pen, convert vertex tool, they don't seem to work in CC2014, as they did in CC. Help

    I'm trying to do something I've been doing for a long time. Change the shape of of square solid. Not sure what to do?

    Nothing really changed. Are you sure that you didn't select roto bezier when the path was created? The other thing that could be going on is that you have created a shape layer with the rectangle tool and you have a rectangle instead of a path. Without further explanation it's going to be hard to figure out what is going wrong.
    Press G to bring up the pen tool. Hold down the Alt/Option key to change the pen tool to the convert vertex tool (little sideways V). Press the G key again to bring up the Feather tool if you are working on a mask. Press the V key to bring up the direct selection tool to select vertices or shape paths. Hold down the Command/Ctrl key with a shape path selected to duplicate it (a black and a white arrow head appears) to duplicate the path when you click and drag. With any vertex selected click and drag on the layer to select multiple vertices....

  • Best practices for using Vanishing Point tool?

    Hi All,
    I'm wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on using the vanishing point tool...
    Basically I've tried using the vanishing point tool (in PS CC) on a couple of projects and it always takes me a hell of a lot of time, mainly fiddling around to get the correct proportions.
    A perfect example is a project I'm working on today, I have an exhibition stand which is pretty straight forward, all flat, rectangle surfaces. I have the correct dimensions from the supplier of the exhibition stand which I've designed the artwork to scale. Now when I try to apply the artwork to the relevant sections of the stand using the vanishing point tool, the artwork stretches then I have to resize it but each time I resize the artwork it seems to get dissorted and the artwork now looks poor quality and there is loads of space above and below the artwork. This is really puzzling me.
    I've seen a design from another company and they have applied the artwork to the stand with no problems by the look of things, it looks crystal clear so I'm obviously doing something wrong.
    If anyone could point me in the right direction, which I understand could be difficult to do because it's hard to determine what I'm doing wrong just from this post. Therefore any tutorials that throughly explain how to effectively use the vanishing point, would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks for your time
    James

    Hi Richard,
    If you need to configure dynamic pricing that may vary by tenant and/or if you want to set up cost drivers that are service item attributes, you should configure Billing Tables in the Demand Management module in 10.0.
    The cost detail functionality in 9.4 will likely be changed to merged with the new pricing feature in 10.0.  The current plan is not to bring cost detail into the Service Catalog module.
