Convert PowerPoint to Keynote without Keynote

I wonder if there is a tool that can convert a PPT into a KNT without loading it into keynote. I know that I can simply load a ppt into keynote and then save it later as knt. But is there a tool that can take ppt and spit out knt so I can upload it to my ipad when I do not have my macbook around? (or without sending it via email)

Yes I know but how do I get the presentation onto the iPad then?
If I use iTunes to copy a ppt onto iPad (via the app page under keynote) the presentation does not appear when I start keynote. I can see that the file has been copied onto the ipad (in itunes) but not on the ipad

Wow, I may be losing my mind, you're right.  I guess I was doing what you said out of old habits and not even realizing it.  Much appreciated.

  • Converting Powerpoint to Keynote-no sound

Anyone have any tips on converting Powerpoint presentations to Keynote ones? When I open an existing PP pres in Keynote, the sound does not appear to come with it. Any thoughts as to how to solve? Thanks all!

    Loandogs,
This might not be a universal solution but it worked for my files.
David Firth on August 11 07 gave the best hint to go to
    http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/30319539/why-no-sound-track-using.asp x
There, the July 21 07 follow-up of Steve Rindsberg was right.
In short: Use Audacity to open your pps or ppt file, export to WAV, insert the WAV in your Keynote file.

  • Is there a procedure to open keynote 09 files with videos in the new Keynote without converting videos?

is there a procedure to open keynote 09 files with videos in the new Keynote without converting videos?
I have a big presentation with many video mov and avi files created with Keynote 09. When trying to open the file in the new Keynote the procedured crashes and Keynote crashes abruptly. It seens that an avi file is not converted. I have no more the old Keynote 09. How can this problem be solved?

if you right click or control click on the file, do you get an option to 'show package contents'?

  • Convert PowerPoint to Keynote

I want to play my PowerPoint presentation in Keynote on my iPad using Remote Keynote without losing the animations I created in PowerPoint. So far, when I import my PowerPoint into Keynote I lose all of the animations. And since Keynote works with Builds, I cannot insert images in between bullets on a slide. Would I still lose the animations even if I created the PowerPoint using Microsoft Office for Mac? Is there another iPad application that works with the Remote Keynote on my iPhone?

  • How can i convert ppt file into a keynote using windows 7 ?

can i change a powerpoint file into a keynote file on my labtop using my windows 7 ?? if yes can i send it to someone who has mac OS and will it work well with him?

No, he'll download it as a PPT.  Keynote can then open the PPT file, and he can choose to convert to the Keynote format once its open.
Keynote: Supported file formats - Apple Support
All he'll need to do is save it.

  • Exporting a PDF from keynote without losing hyperlinks

exporting a PDF from keynote without losing hyperlinks
anyone have any ideas why it doesn't export the hyperlinks to the PDF?
i only have PDF reader on my machine, not the full PDF creator

Or, better than that, export the PDF from InDesign as PDF/X-4!
By default, Acrobat and Reader use overprint preview when displaying PDF/X-4 files. Plus you have the benefit of full color management and not having transparency ruined by premature flattening.
One other note. Other than for the fairly common practice of overprinting black text over colors to avoid halo effects due to registration, one should be exceptionally careful in using overprint. Trapping, the other good, justifiable use for overprint is really best performed by the RIP. Most modern RIPs provide for automatic trapping. Overprint should absolutely not be used as a “poor man's transparency,” especially in conjuction with spot colors. With the advent of real transparency in the Adobe imaging model and hence in Illustrator, InDesign, and PDF, there is no good reason to use overprint hacks anymore to simulate transparency.

  • Purchase keynote without having to close program?

i've created a project in the trial version of keynote. as expected, i cannot save or print it out. is it possible to purchase iwork06 and get the licensing code to keynote without having to close the program and therefore lose my project?

This SHOULD work for you. First, get Inventive's iClip lite (it's a free download at the following link).
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/business/icliplite.html
Then copy one of your slides into iClip. Use Keynote to open a new document, then use the iClip lite interface to copy a slide FROM iClip and paste it into this new document. If the slide copies over perfectly with everything you expect to see, then you SHOULD be able to copy slides into iClip lite and they'll stay safely there until you get an opportunity to enter the licensing code for Keynote.
    Incidentally, PopCopy
    http://www.popcopy.net/PopCopy.html
is another application which correctly stores information copied from iWork, so you might want to try that if the other one doesn't work.

I have used Pages 09 and Keynote without any major problems until this new update. I have read many of the fixes but have a problem. When you get Pages 09 and Keynote back, Apples continues to want to update the 09 system. So it stays updated. I have had to turn off my auto updating that was nice but I'll do it one at a time in order to keep the Pages 09 and Keynote. When something works don't mess with it. Any fixes out there?

I can't say that I have had a problem playing videos in Flash because I could always play them in browsers other than Firefox.
In Firefox Tools>options>Advanced Hardware acceleration is turned on.
I don't know if that is different that tuning it off and on in Flash or not, but for now it is a moot point.
As I stated in my previous message, after following all earlier suggestions/instructions nothing helped. But The latest one, someone suggested that maybe version 17 of Flash might be a stable version.
I made no other changes except to install it, a few days ago, and so far so good.
    Many thanks for your help,

  • Software for converting powerpoint to flash on Mac OS X ?

    Dear All
Does anybody know if there is any software available for converting powerpoint presentations into flash format so that they can then be uploaded onto websites? I have seen (for windows, unfortunately) a program callled ARTICULATE PRESENTER (www.articulate.com) which is fantastic for doing this, but only the end product can be viewed with Mac rather than being able to be created with Mac.
I want to create self-study type lessons for students, in which I can record a narration at the same time that the powerpoint slides are showing their illustrations. (This is what ARTICULATE does). And that these can then be available via the internet.
Has anyone any ideas or experience with this using Mac?
Many thanks and hope to hear from many of you soon!

Actually, there is a program that will do this, and a lot more. It's called Keynote. You can import your PowerPoint files, then you can trash PowerPoint, because you'll find Keynote does everything PowerPoint does better, and it does a lot more. Including exporting your presentations in Flash, PDF, QuickTime, or back to PowerPoint, if you must.

  • Using Keynote 5 & Keynote 6 Together

I was one of the fortunate ones who did not loose their ability to work with Keynote 5.3, when Keynote was upgraded to version 6. I have hundreds of Keynote 5 presentations I use to make a living. But now I'm wondering if it is possible to use Keynote 6 on the same Mac as Keynote 5?
If so, what pit-falls should I be aware of so I don't end-up prohibiting myself from continuing to use my previous Keynote presentations, without being forced to upgrade them?
Thanks for any insight anyone can offer ...

Hello - Since I started this thread I thought I should return to it and let you know that I was able to get both Keynote 5 & Keynote 6 working at the same time. I did this with the help of a very knowledgable person at the Apple Genius Bar. I did not have to move anything, since Keynote 5 was already in the iWork '09 folder.
I went to the Apple App Store and installed Keynote 6 as an update - even thought it's says "Update", it actually loads and entirely new version of Keynote 6 in the Application Folder.
As mentioned above, you definitely want to clearly indicate which of your presentations are built with Keynote 5, and which are built with Keynote 6. Then Make Sure you open the respective ones Only from Within their respective applications. If you do not, you will not be able to go back and open your old presentations in Keynote 5, some of your transitions & features will be lost.
Just to be clear, I am now able to open both versions of Keynote at exactly the same time without any issues.

    Hi Joel,
The feature you are looking for, is currently not available in Acrobat.
But you can create an interactive link (to open Word/Excel) using Acrobat. Please look at the following link:
