Convert QuickTime Video Files for Offline Viewing

How can I convert QuickTime files for offline viewing?

Even with QuickTime Pro, it is possible to protect a QuickTime video file from being downloaded directly. But, if it's not specifically protected, QuickTime Pro will allow you to download many QuickTime videos.
If you come across a video that is protected, you may be able to use a utility like to record the video as it's playing on your screen and then save it as a stand-alone file.

  • Is there a program that converts Quicktime video files into Media Player?

Is there a program that converts Quicktime video files into Media Player video files?
      Windows XP

Windows Media Player on a PC plays avi and mpg in addition to the WMV and ASF files so you can either use a Windows program that generates those files from .mov format or you can use QT Pro to convert the .mov to uncompressed avi and then use Windows Media Encoder to make WMV files. Although it may be out there no one here has mentioned a PC program that converts directly from .mov format to WMV. There is a program for Mac OS that does it and I believe that company is working on a version for Intel Macs so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to port it to Windows.

  • Which is the best software to convert the video files for itouch?

I got a 3rd gen itouch. Is there any software that helps to convert the video files. so I can sync those files to my itouch. " Handbrake " used to work pretty good. but now i still can convert the video files to m4v format but itunes doesn't allow me to put those files in. Please Help!

You may have different menu options than Half bit Bit Ah. The support page on how to do it is at https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1497. In part it says:
If you did not purchase videos from the iTunes Store, they are may not be in a format that you can play on your iPhone/iPod. In many cases, you can convert them to the correct format using iTunes or QuickTime.
    * Using iTunes: Select a video and choose Advanced > Create iPod or iPhone Version
    * Using Mac OS X v10.6: Open the video in QuickTime Player and choose Share > iTunes and then select the iPhone & iPod option.
    Hope that helps!

  • Converting a video file for Final Cut

I am having trouble figuring out how to convert an existing mpeg or ripping a non copyright DVD so that the resulting file can be played back in Final Cut without any rendering needed. Many conversion apps will output to DV or MOV, but when I bring them in, they need to be rendered before playing. What do I need to do use, and what settings, to make the file play perfectly in Final Cut, without the need to render at all?
    Thanks.

The tutorial was really clear and good. Here's the link to it for others who may want it directly. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2059475&tstart=0
It deals with converting VOB, but it's the same deal no matter what you are converting. My only question is he was using PAL, so for NTSC, I used Apple DV/DVCPRO - NTSC. It worked, but just want to be sure that his is correct.
I'll never understand what the difference is between a DV file and an MOV file for this purpose. I read somewhere else that DV should be avoided and that MOV is better, but that's not what Nick is saying. Any thoughts?

  • Converting Video Files For Windows Premiere Elements Editing

A client has given me a couple of dozen videotapes, about half MiniDV and the other half VHS-C. He's also given me a 1TB external hard drive.
He would like the drive returned with a single unedited video file for each tape loaded onto it. He will then edit these tapes in Adobe Premiere Elements on a Windows PC, and ultimately burn DVDs.
I have the necessary equipment to capture the contents of all of these tapes into FCP, but I have two questions.
First, what should I convert these files to? I'm thinking QuickTime movies, or DV, since Premiere Elements can work with either of those, and storage space shouldn't be a problem; all the footage is SD, of course.
Second, I haven't connected the drive he's given me yet; if I need to format this drive for my MacPro to use, will my customer then have problems accessing the video files? Or, is there a proper way for me to format this drive so that the files will be readable when he gets it back?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

It's never a good idea to capture on a different NLE than the one which will be used for editing. It can cause all sorts of compatibility problems. There are even issues going between FCP and iMovie -both Mac applications.
I'm thinking QuickTime movies, or DV, since Premiere Elements can work with either of those,
Are you *absolutely sure* about that, given that a PC based NLE typically works with avi files?
As to your disc formatting questions, you can download the [NTFS-3G driver|http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com> which will let you read, write and even reformat the drive as NTFS on the Mac. All reasonably modern PCs work with this disc format and you won't run into the file size limitations associated with FAT formatted drives.

  • Converting video files for AppleTV and Ipod

So I have an Appletv AND and 80 GB Ipod classic.
I have some home videos that I would love to be able to play on both my apple tv and Ipod. I currently use ISync, but I have to create a separate file for the AppleTV and the IPOD as using the ipod file on an Appletv is grainy and low quality. Any ideas how I can convert my video file to a file that can be viewed on both my AppleTV and my Ipod?

Totally agree with Jolly Giant. Get Handbrake and use the Universal setting under the Apple presets in Handbrake. I feel it will get the best quality to have one file that works on both.

How do I download Photoshop CS6 video tutorials from Adobe TV for offline viewing ?

It depends on which browser you have.  If you are using Safari, post in their forum area.
If using FireFox, use one of there many (hundreds) YouTube video downloader add-ons.  My personal preference is the DownloaderHelper add-on.

  • Converting video files for zen

  • I've recently downloaded Wondershare software and converted many video files. I'm in the process of creating a movie and imovie keeps quitting on me. Wondering if there is a problem with Wodershare imac conpatibility?

I recently purchased Wondershare software. I've converted many video files and made a movie. imovie quitting. Wondering if there is a problem with Wondershare and imac compatibility. Any thoughts?
    Rick

Not sure about the codec- Wondershare asked where I was sending to in setup and I selected imovie. It did the rest. I have been successful with editing on storyboard, but imovie (09) quits when I attempt to view project full screen, or prepare the movie for sharing. I have removed some files (to ensure headroom), and have installed most recent updates.

  • Quicktime video file burned to disc plays back skipping

I'm burning quicktime video files from an external hard drive onto DVD through an external burner, soley as the file for archival purposes. When I put the disc in the computer drive, it plays back improperly - it is all there, but it skips and doesn't play clean.
I have succesfully burned many of these discs, but this problem has suddenly arisen. I have since gotten a brand new burner, have tried different batches of discs, switching out cables, even plugging the external drives into THREE different computers.... etc. I feel like I've tried everything.
Is this maybe the external hard drive not communicating properly? I know the file is not corrupt, as I have successly burned it in the past. I thought it might have been a burner issue, but I tried burning the disc through a laptop internal burner, and the same thing happened.

It sounds like your older Mac can't keep up with the data rate found in the files.
They are probably .dv files and they are never intended to be used (viewed) as a playback format. They are an editing file format with very high data rates.
Your archives will still work when you buy a newer Mac that has more "oomph".

  • HT1211 Converting Quicktime Video

Hello- Is there a way to convert a quicktime video- into another format.  I am trying to play a video that we recorded using an iphone in a webinar and I need to convert it to another format.  I don't have quicktime pro=( Any help will be appreciated.

I have not used mentioned programs above, if you just want to convert quicktime video to mp4 or mkv, Handbrake will do this great.
For other file format, AppGeeker does it internally, it converts anything to anything. has been well worth it for me.

  • My ipod somehow converted my video files to music files...

Ok, I know it sounds strange, but it happened. I buy weekly episodes of South Park and The Office from iTunes so I have a video to watch while on break at work. The other day I went to watch Season 3 of The Office and the episodes have all vanished!
I looked around the iPod and found that all the videos on my iPod are missing, not just The Office. However, after looking a little more, I found all these videos in the MUSIC section of the iPod!!!
The videos no longer play with an image, they just play the sound, if even that. I'm on a new computer (I sold the old one) and don't have access to any of these files, so I can't simply reload them onto the iPod.
My question is this: since my iPod randomly converted my video files to audio files on the iPod itself, is it possible to edit them back to video?
I have two other friends who've had this same exact problem. If I can't fix it, should iTunes be responsible for replacing my missing videos? Its obviously a hardware glitch.

Your ipod did not convert them to audio files. That's impossible. If you no longer have the files on your computer, you will have to copy all your music and videos from the ipod, to your new computer and into itunes. Once you have done this, you will then be able to restore your ipod and resync all your files to the ipod.
I assume you have all ready tried restarting your ipod?

    Hello All
How can we convert standard video files in to flv file at run
    time like
    you tube and
    Google Video is there any
script or tool to do this. This is urgent.
I have one project in this project client requiring function

    .flv formate
    Any help is appreciated
    Naved Ansari

I think you need the Macromedia Flash Media Server to be able
to do what you are asking. Flash 8 can with a Flash Video Encoder
but it does not do it on the fly. There maybe other 3rd party
servers that you can sign-up that allow you do this but if you are
looking for your own solution you will need the FMS 2.0.
