Convert Raw pictures to Jpg

I have many thousands of pictures on my HDD, i mainly always take pictures in my Nikon's Raw format. File size is nearly 10meg per picture and for the ones i wish to work on this is great, however some of the photos are just going to end up as snaps. Is there a way to quickly convert the Raw format to Jpg and keep most of the Metadata etc. I could save many Meg of space this way, however is it just going to be too much hassle. Any thoughts anybody !

File > Export > Export Preset > Then choose jpeg as the file format you wish to export your image as.
However a tip... In my experience 5 years down the line you may wish to re-edit your original RAW's, large capacity external hard drive's are cheap enough now, so I would export the original RAW's to a usb hard drive and keep them until you are sure you no longer require them.

  • Converting raw images into .jpgs.

I took some pictures with my Canon 5D, using the camera's raw format. They turned out to be about 14MB. However, when I converted them to .jpgs, using Photoshop CC, they were only about 4MB. I needed to have .jpgs about 10 MB. How do I do that? I made them the highest quality, etc. I still could only get about 4MB in size. Do I have to lose all that data just by converting them to .jpg? Thank you for any help!

file size in MB is a very poor criterion for judging image quality because reduction in file size is very dependent upon the original image content.
Compare a complex multicolored photo converted to .jpg with an image (same original size) filled with pure white or gray or black; then compare the .jpg sizes.
As indicated above, use .tif or other uncompressed (lossless) file format to retain image quality....use .png if image needs to keep transparency.
Consider using camera settings to produce both raw and .jpg images from same shot (too late for images already shot) and compare/use whichever suits your needs best.
There are many (many free) progs to convert various raw formats to .jpg; some better than others, all results will be at least slightly different.

  • Converting RAW-file to jpg in Photoshop Elements 13?

In Photoshop Elements 13, I can't convert my RAW-file to jpg? The only format to choose from is dng? Why is so. Why I cannot find jpg file format anywhere?

Open the camera raw file (press the Open button in the camera raw dialog) into the editor and then Go to File>Save As>Jpeg

  • How convert raw files to jpgs in batches quickly

I have hundreds of photos I need to use in Indesign. I can't place RAW files and all the jogs my photographer gave me are way too small. I need to process out loads of big high res files so I can use them. Is there a way to convert them all to jpgs at once? I've tried batching and I'm not doing it right since its' not working.

See if File>Scripts>Image Processor does what you want.

  • ACR converting raw into huge jpg files even at low quality

Hi  Need  help !!I am downloading raw files from canon 30d into bridge and processing RAW files in ACR.
When i have finished the edit I am clicking on save image and selecting jpg and then low quality. The RAw image is about 7mb and the converted low quality jpgs are also coming out to 7mb. These are far too big and is only a recent problem. I have re-installed photoshop but this has not fixed the problem.
By the way if I convert an image from raw that I haven't edited by the same process the file size is only 300kb
Would be very grateful if anyone has an answer to this

    Thanks again Yammer
If I save as medium quality file size goes higher - over 13mb
Saving it as an uncompressed tiff sent the file size upto 1.5GB !!!!
The two installed versions were the 64bit version and the normal (32 bit ?)
I did uninstall and delete Adobe folders before reinstalling but as you say there may have been files left behind - will look into that
I paid £30 to adobe for there technical support - but getting nowhere at present as with their basic level support I think I need them to escalate to more qualified people.
I am wondering if the problem is with my pc due to the upscaling of file size when edits were done in Paint
    Cheers

  • Converting RAW masters to jpgs without exporting, deleting and importing...

Is there a way to convert my RAW files that I already imported into Aperture libraries, now into JPGS without exporting versions, then deleting the RAW-master originals and then importing the jpgs again? I would like to save some disk space, after having chosen some RAW files to keep and now wanting to downconvert the rest to jpgs. Thanks for the answers!!

No, there is not, for the reason Ernie stated.  Although I find the "library" metaphor ill-selected, it may help illustrate the point.  You RAW files should be thought of as First Edition Hard-cover books.  JPGs derived from the RAW originals are later editions.  Some of them may closely simulate the first edition; some may be cheap paperbacks designed to be read once and discarded -- none of them is a First Edition.
What you want to do is somewhat tantamount to carting all the precious First Editions out and leaving them by them curb, and replacing them with smaller, lighter paperbacks.
You can do this, but Aperture makes sure you actually have to do the lifting and the carting.
If all you want is a Bookmobile, Aperture is not a good vehicle.
Fwiw, the User Manual recommends creating additional Libraries when you Library becomes too large.  (I was 100% certain the User Manual recommended converting some Image's Masters from Managed to Referenced when your Library file became too large, but today I can no longer find the reference.)  IME, you are much better served having one Library with your Image's Masters Referenced than having multiple Libraries.

    Help?

You need to install Canon Digital Photo Professional from the camera-supplied CD.

When I open Bridge and open a folder of RAW files and then go to Tools- Photoshop-Image Processor, I get a message saying Image Processor.jsx could not be found. What am I doing wrong?

Are Bridge and Photoshop of the same suite (CS4 or CS3 or …), are both of them installed on the system-drive and is »Image Processor.jsx« in its proper place (Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Scripts)?

  • Converting RAW to jpg

I have always used Elements 10 to convert RAW files to jpg by opening the RAW file in the editor, making changes, and then choosing Open Image tab, and then choosing jpg format in the drop down box to save it. For some reason it is no longer an option, I have not changed any settings.

Are you photos 16-bits?  JPG is an 8-bit-only format.
You can switch to 8-bits with Image / Mode / 8-bits, or at least that’s how it works in PSE11 that I have.
    Same in PSE12.
You can also set the ACR module to open in 8 bits (middle option in the bottom bar or the ACR screen).

  • Does Aperture 2 have a way of converting raw images to png or jpeg.

Does Aperture 2 have a way of converting raw images to png or jpeg

    That's why we're here
In regards to your original question converting RAW images to JPGs is one of Apertures reason for being. As Terrence stated once the image is in Aperture ad you've made chatterer adjustments you want to it you then can export the image in a wide array of formats, sizes and qualities depending on what you will be doing with the exported image.
The Aperture user manual is a good place to start, it's well written and has a lot of good info in it.
    Good luck

  • Is there a way to convert raw data into a JPEG picture right away?

    Hi,
I have raw jpg data coming through the serial line.
Can I convert this into a jpg image right away?
    Thanks,
    Van

yes, there wa s nice VI added in LV 7 that makes this very easy.
convert (parse) your serial read, so that the string is converted into a 2D array of integers. Then call these 3 VIs Draw Unflattened Pixmap >> Picture to Pixmap >> Write JPEG File
Before LV 7, I forget if there is a nice VI to help you (I don't have a pre LV 7 version of LV on this machine, so I can't check...)

I have Photoshop Lightroom 5 and have downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 &DNG converter successfully. I have a new Sony Alpha 7 11 model ILCE-A7M2 that is supported by LR5. Anita

The support for that camera was added in the very latest release of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. Having downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. You need to make sure you have updated Lightroom to the very latest release in order to have support for that camera.

  • Last wish, preset converting RAW into JPG with more contrast, saturation & sharpening

A close family member is dying and she has still many RAW files, which of course look slightly lifeless as all RAW files do. She asked me to look for a simple Lightroom preset which will convert her RAWs into Jpgs with more contrast, saturation and sharpening. She has Lightroom 3, but has no experience in making presets and neither do I. She needs the preset to make the RAW files as Jpgs available to her partner & children. No fancy effects; just simple. She cannot work on her computer anymore. Can you help me with a concrete preset or if not can you make one for her?
