Convert rectangle into rounded rectangle

Hi!
Can anyone tell me how I cn convert an existing rectangle
into a rounded rectangle please?
Also, how do you insert a rectangle/shape of a specific
size& position without having to click and drag?
I find that when I want to insert a rounded rectangle but
then want to make it bigger, clicking and dragging a corner can
make it the right size but causes the rounded corners to distort
into a more elliptical shape then circular.
Thanks,
Matthew.

Use the Rectangle Roundness slider in the Property inspector.

You can insert one via the Auto Shape Properties panel.

Have you tried using the Auto Shape Properties panel?

  • Rectangle marquee keeps converting to a rounded rectangle marquee!

Help! I have been using Photoshop CS2 on my G4 PowerBook for years without problems. Starting today, every time I try to use the rectangle selection marquee, it keeps on converting to a rounded rectangle selection marquee when I release the mouse. I tried resetting all tool presets, quitting then restarting Photoshop, rebooting the computer, and trashing all the Photoshop preferences files, and nothing worked. When I edit an image in Image Ready, the standard rectangle selection marquee works fine, but once I go back into Photoshop, the rounded selection marquee comes back. Can someone please help me get my standard rectangle selection marquee back? Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for the prompt replies. Along the lines of resetting preferences, I first tried Options > Reset All Tools without effect. Then I tried Options > Reset Tool Presets, and Voila!, no more rounded rectangle marquee!! Problem solved!! Thank you very much for steering me in the right direction.

  • Photoshop CC: Convert Rectangle to Rounded Rectangle?

I saw that the Rounded Rectangle properties were not available on the regular rectangle (to change corner radius). Any way to convert it?

    I have the newest Everything.
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.0
    Operating System: Mac OS 10.8.4

I'm looking to easily convert to rounded without drawing a rounded one in place of the square one.

  • Scaling 'rounded' rectangle

Hi there, I'm having problems working out how to scale a rounded rectangle without the corners becoming distorted.  I've attached an example below, with the smaller rectangle on the top being the original and the one below being the 're-sized' version of the same thing.  As you can see, the corners are not right.
    Thanks.

Wow just days after posting this, the 2014 Illustrator CC top feature:
Live Shapes: Rectangles and Rounded Rectangles
Rectangles now have quickly modifiable corners, including independent radius control. Corner attributes are retained if you scale and rotate your rectangle. Now Illustrator remembers your work — width, height, rotation, corner treatment — so you can return to your original shape.See how it works

  • Why does Edge Animate convert circles and rounded corners into "classic" rectangles?

    Hello Community!
When creating animations with circles or rounded corners in it, I came across with something strange.
I published it as .oam-file for Adobe DPS and the circles and rounded corners where converted into rectangles.
    Does anybody know a solution?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hey broekt,
If you're using the Desktop Viewer ot preview your AN content, some stuff (such as rounded rectangles) isn't supported in their version of Webkit. For true rendering make sure to always test on your iPad

  • How to smooth pixelated edges of Rounded Rectangle Filter?

I'm using the rounded rectangle filter to divide the frame into about 25 pieces (a mosaic type of transition is what Im going for) and I like the look of the round rectangle but the four corners are terribly pixelated. Is this just an oversight on the part of the programs developers or is there a setting I am over looking?
    Thanks Mac People,
    Justin!

    Hey Jim,
I am seeing the pixelation on my monitor. The oval shape filters work just fine, and thats what has me scratching my head.
Also, i have my Filmo figured out, except for the dial one the viewfinder that changes the size of the frame in side it. Do those numbers correlate with different size lenses? Do you have any suggestions and what lenses I should look into and where to find them. Theere is only one on the camera as is, a very small one about the size of a golf ball.
    Thanks again Jim,
    Justin!

  • Why are my rounded rectangles distorted?

When I use the Rounded Rectangle shape on the Tools Palette, it is getting distorted in the PDF. The other shapes look good. I'm attaching a sample.
I'm using FrameMaker 8.2p277. To create the PDF, I do File>Print and select Adobe PDF as a printer. On the PDF Options, I have selected the same joboptions that I've been using.
I double-checked in Distiller and I do not have "Convert gradients to smooth curves" or "convert smooth lines to curves" selected. Those settings have caused trouble in the past.
    What else should I check?
    Thanks,
    Cheryl

OK. I stumbled upon the answer. When creating a PDF by choosing the Adobe PDF printer in FrameMaker, I had to:
    1. On the Print Document window, select Setup button. That opens the Print Setup window, where I choose the Adobe PDF printer. Then I click Properties, which opens the Adobe PDF Document Properties window. On that window, the Default Settings shows "Standard". If I click the Edit button next to that, it opens the Standard - Adobe PDF Settings window. If I drill down on "Advanced" I can see that "Convert smooth lines to curves" is selected. So then I cancel out of that window, back to Adobe PDF Document Properties. On that window, I select my own joboptions for Default Settings, which I know does not have "Convert smooth lines to curves" selected. Click OK twice.
    2. Now, back on the Print Document window, I select PDF Setup. I make sure that my own joboptions is selected from the list and I click Set.
Now, the file is generated properly and my rounded rectangles look perfect:
If I omit either of those steps, then my rectangles are distorted. I think they look like worms that have been stepped on:
To answer the others who responded to my posts:
Sheila, I'm attaching a MIF file, just in case you're still curious.
    Shlomo--My Distiller is version 8.1.3.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Bug report about create new footprint with Rounded rectangle in 3D info Bottom

I create new footprint with rounded rectangle in 3D info Bottom, the rounded rectangle must be in bottom, but In fact, the rounded rectangle
created in top layer.i think it's wrong.
    I used ultiboard 10.1.357.

    Hi,
Thank you for reporting this. This has been a long standing issue with Ultiboard and we are looking into resolving this.
There is a work around although a very inconvenient one. You can set the height to what you require and use a negative offset to move the shape to the other side of the board. The 3D shape will appear on the other side, but in reality is just shifted, not mirrored.
Hope that helps. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Rounded rectangle corners in FW3?

Where the heck is my rectangle tool options panel that let's
    me round rectangle edges?!?!?!
you may ask, why version 3? - it's 'cuz my company is too
cheap to upgrade. I use it decently well despite this, but I
    digress.
I thought all you had to do was double click the rectangle
tool like it states in the help:
You can round the corners of a rectangle or square as you
draw it by setting the curvature of the corners in the Rectangle
    tool Options panel.
Set this value before drawing the rectangle.
To draw a rectangle with rounded corners:
1 Double-click the Rectangle tool to open the Rectangle tool
    Options panel.
2 Enter a value in the Corner text box.
3 Hold down the mouse button and drag to draw a rectangle.
Note: You cannot round the corners of an existing rectangle.
The problem is, that the Rectangle tool options panel doesn't
open!! is this a bug? or am i just missing something really
obvious?? help!! has anyone else run into this?

oy vey. never mind - i found it. it's so obvious that i want
to cry. the problem was the inspector was already open and off
underneath something that I couldn't immediately see. what a
doofus. sorry for taking up space.

  • Specify the corner radius of a rounded rectangle

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/illustrator/cs/using/WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d0100196cbc5f-6261a .html

It's just a small part of a much larger lameness: Unlike every other mainstream drawing program, Illustrator has never provided live geometric primitive objects (ellipses, rectangles, polygons, stars with live geometric parameters). When you use Illustrator's LBO tools (Lines, Boxes, Ovals), you just end up with dumb ordinary paths with no live adjustments.
The Convert To Shape Effect is a completely unintuitive, anemic, incomplete, tagged-on workaround for lack of one of the most commonly taken-for-granted drawing feature sets on the planet. Not that Convert To Shape is usless; it isn't. But it's ridiculous that it is limited to just rectangles, rounded rectangles, and ellipses. Why would such a feature not be able to use any shaped path (in fact, anything stored as a Symbol)?
Regardless, Convert To Shape is not a reasonable substitute for proper geometric primitives tools. For just one example, compare FreeHand's single Ellipse tool to Illustrator's utterly lame Ellipse and Arc tools combined. This single intuitive and elegently designed tool serves for circles, circular arcs, ellipses, and elliptical arcs, either freehand or with numerical precision; and those parameters can be changed any time the user wants. This also makes the tool servicable as something Illustrator has never heard of: an elliptical "protractor" that can be utilized to determine correctly foreshortened line lengths at any viewing angle.
That's an example of the kind of just-under-the-surface power that a single thoughtfully-designed and thoroughly-integrated drawing interface can yield. Compare that to the underpowered tool-glut clutter that so saturates Illustrator.

  • Rounded rectangles

    Hello all,
I've a problem with rounded rectangles in Oracle Reports.
I've migrated the iAS installation from a Windows system to a Solaris.
    The Solaris version is:
    cat /etc/release
    Solaris 9 4/04 s9s_u6wos_08a SPARC
Copyright 2004 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Use is subject to license terms.
    Assembled 22 March 2004
    The iAS version is: 1.0.2.2.2
The Oracle Forms and Reports are 6i version with patch 17.
The problem is that I've reports with rounded rectangles and they aren't show correctly.
The curves of the rectangle are converted to corners.
In Windows installation it works fine.
I try changing the printer definition that were Postcript with level 1 to Postcript with level 2, but it doesn't work.
The format report is PDF and it's in Web mode.
    Why it doesn't work fine?
    There is a bug?

    Hello all,
    I've solved the problem.
I had Developer 6i with patch 14 and I found a note that says that in patch 13 it works fine but in patch 14 doesn't work and it's solved in patch 15.
I installed the patch 17 and now it works fine.

    Created mask.
    Clicked on rounded rec.

  • Rounded Rectangles question

I'm afraid I may know the answer to this already, but this is so fundamental I think I must be doing something wrong. In AICS3, I want to draw a rounded rectangle, but I want to control the radius of the arc defining the four corners. I'm trying to emulate an open field notebook, which has rounded corners on its pages. Illustrator seems to have a single radius, randomly chosen and consistant regardless of the size of the rectangle. I've tried double clicking the icon and get nothing. The "Transform" palette is the same as it is for all shapes: nothing but simplistic x,y inputs. (As an aside, I run into these types of problems quite a bit. The fact that AI does not draw circles and arcs has always been a problem (a circle or arc being a line controled by radius, diamter, chord, circumference or fractions thereof.)) The rounded rectangle I draw is nothing more than a rectangle with two control points at each corner. I'm hopeful there is an easy way to make those corners perfect arcs of any size by some numerical input somewhere, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to resort to my usual method: drawing it in my CAD program and importing it. Optimisim, however, rules the day today and so I'm throwing the question out there. I have CS4 access, too, so if it is possible in that version I'll switch computers for a while. Thanks in advance for any help!

While dragging a rounded rectangle, add the keyboard modifier of up cursor or down cursor to adjust the radius, while drawing.
If you click once with the rounded rectangle tool and let go, you will get the dialog box.

  • Un-rounding a rounded rectangle

Any quick tips to convert an expanded appearance rounded rectacngle back to a sharp cornered rectangle?

You can take this route and – if required – apply it to multiple selected objects.
    1. Rounded rectangle, corner radius: 10 mm
    2. Effect > Path > Offset Path, Offset: - (minus) 11 mm
    3. Effect > Path > Offset Path, Offset: + (plus) 11 mm
    Expand appearance now.

  • Splitting a rounded rectangle

I have a rounded-edged square. I want to fill one half of it with color. Normally I'd drop another rectangle on it through the middle, and then use the pathfinder tool to break it into the half I want to color and the half I don't. But with the rounded rectangle, that's creating new rounded edges where I want square ones. Solutions?

This sounds as if the rounded corners are applied as an effect. What you should do instead is to draw your square using the rounded rectangle tool. Then you can cut that in half (various methods available as well as Pathfinder) and the corners will be square each side of the cut.
