Convert scanned handwriting (raster) into digital ink (vector)

Do any of the Adobe products (or any other software) convert raster based images into vector... specifically I am wanting to convert pages of scanned handwriting into digital ink (NOT editable text).  I will then use a suitable tablet and stylus to add/remove handwritten words to the digital ink text. I have been using Onenote and a Surface Pro and stylus to generate handwritten text but have a number of existing manually handwritten pages that I would like to convert to digital ink and then modify in Onenote or some other suitable program.

illustrator, indesign, flash, shape and probably several other adobe products can convert rasters to vectors.

Can newer versions of Adobe Photo Shop convert a scanned in raster pdf to a vector pdf?
I scanned in a paper electrical schematic to Adobe Photo Shop and want to revise it in AutoCAD but to use an AutoCAD plug in, PDFIn, it must be a vector pdf as opposed to a raster pdf.
    Is that possible?

Not in Photoshop, but you can try Live Trace in Illustrator.
You may have to try several different settings and compare the results. Also the cleaner the scan the better.
The results may vary from great to really bad.
Sometimes it is better and faster to simply recreate it Illustrator. You can use the scanned image as a partially dimmed template layer and  redraw over it on new layers.
If you really need this to work in AutoCAD, try creating a small section as a test to see if the plug-in for AutoCAD that you mentioned works ok.

  • Directly convert the analog signals into digital without passing through FPGA

    To whom it may concern,
I am using a SCB-68 board R-series and I have a couple of technical questions:
In my system at the moment 8 analog channels are connected to the 8 input analog ports and then data are sent to a FPGA (PXI system 7852R). I am planning now to add other 4 channels to the system. Since over the total 12 channels I just need a very fast acquisition mode (using the FPGA) for 6 of them, while the other 6 can be sampled in a ms scale, I was wondering if you can suggest me something that I can use to directly convert the analog signals into digital and in this way used many unused digital signals provided with this model.
    Thanks in advance.

yes it is correct, what do you need is:
    software + (pc) + PXI + cable + chassis + C-series module
With embedded controllers, there’s no need for an external PC
With PXI remote control kits, you can control PXI systems directly from desktops, laptops, or server computers.
     What Is PXI?
To configure a complete PXI System please go to: Build Your PXI System

  • Other options to convert scanned-document PDF into text?

I often get PDF files where the document was scanned in as an image. I'm wasting time having to re-type these. I found a way online to let Google do a conversion but it is slow (link below if you're curious).  What are some other options for converting this type of PDF into real text?
    http://www.labnol.org/software/convert-scanned-pdf-images-to-text-with-google-ocr/5158/

Well, at first I read your reply and thought .... sheesh, this is in the RTM category. I found the OCR command in the drop-down menu and ran it. I watched it going from page to page and heard a lot of disk activity. Then I started looking for the output. I checked to see if it had dumped the results into the Clipboard, but no. I ran a search of the hard drive for any file created today. Again no apparent output. The help instructions in Acrobat Pro 9 regarding OCR don't really say anything about where to find the output. Where should I look?

  • Scb-68 and PCI-8331 what is converting my analog sgnal into digital%3F

Long ago, around 7 years ago, I worked on a project in which I interface photodetector to my computer through SCB-68 kit. The SCB-68 kit was connected to computer using PCI-8331 card.
Now, my input was analog signal from photodetector but at programming interface I was getting digital values for computation. Now my confusion about the conversion task done by which part of this connection?
SCB-68 was converting the input signal and supplying digital output? or PCI-8331 was doing digitization before delivering information to computer? or labview itself was doing it after getting signal from PCI-8331?
    can anyone please clear me?
    Thanks!

The scb-68 is just a dumb terminal block. The pci-8331 is http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/13179 and does not connect to photodetectors so your memory is flawed about the part number. An actual DAQ card would have done the conversion.

  • How to convert a analog signal to digital signal

    Hello,
How to convert an analog signal into digital signal such that every sample of analog signal corresponding to 1.2V will be represented as '1' in digital signal and other samples of analog signal(that are not 1.2v) will be represented(converted) as '0' in digital signal.
And how to display both wavefroms or signals in graph indicators.
    Thanks.

If you have 1000 samples, and you want to convert to digital, you are going to get 1000 digital values.  Attached is what I mean.

  • Convert scanned signature into line drawing

I have a need to convert scanned signatures into line-drawings. I could buy MIcrosoft Illustrator (or something) to do it, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a free-ware Java tool that could do this.
It would work somehting like the following:
    1. Sign your name on a white piece of paper.
    2. Scan the image and store it as an jpeg file.
    3. A program (hopefully free in Java) would read in the image and output one of the following:
    a) output to another jpeg file where the signature had been converted to line-drawings (so the lines are thiner and more crisp than the scanned image)
    b) output the vector coordinates that could be read into another custom program that could dynamically create the jpeg (I know how to write this jpeg-creatio program from coordinates...).
    thanks,
    Jeff

For starters, using JPEGs in this situation is a poor choice because it is a lossy format.
Second, it seems like what you're after is something like OCR. I think I asked a question once about OCR for java... I think I remember someone telling me that it's out there. But anyway search the web for that.
Even if all you're interested in is code that will smartly 'correct' an image I don't think that there is freely available code (might not be any Java code at all) to do this.

  • PSC 1210 Mac OS 10.6 Scan multiple pages into one pdf., and ink levels

Now that I upgraded my Mac OS to Snow Leopard (10.6.8), I have needed to scan on my HP all-in-one psc 1210 either from Preview or from Scan & Fax in System Preferences. Once I scan a page and that page opens up, I AM able to scan additional pages, but each becomes a separate document. The only system driver available from HP is print only and also doesn't include a utility to check ink levels. Can someone help me with these two issues? (1) how to scan multiple pages into a single pdf. doc with my configuration, and (2) how can I check ink levels
    This question was solved.

    Hi C_Maier,
I can not see the available options when it is disconnected. A screenshot when it is connected would be best. I have done some research though, and believe the option to select 'save all pages to a single file' may only be available if your printer has a document feeder, and of course as you know, yours does not
I know with 10.7 and higher the option is there even with flat bed only printers. You might consider upgrading the OS.

  • Is there any way of converting a jpeg image into a vector in Fireworks? Deity Babbage, where be thee?

I am hoping for a quick way of converting images (jpeg etc) into a vector.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks
    Eddie

    Try this:
    http://vectormagic.com/home
It won't work with really complex images or photos, but if you have something like a logo, it can work well. You'll need to edit the vectors it generates to smooth out some bumps and incorrect nodes, but editing a vector is much easier than drawing the whole thing from scratch.
    Hope this helps!

Does it automatically make folders named after the volume labels? And does it handle the conversion of spaces and non-alphanumeric characters to octal codes?
I could read the script but it would be faster for everyone reading, if you leave the answer as a reply.
I also think that there should be some major work done on modernizing the fstab, either by replacing it with a better implementation of file system mounting or changing the file structure and adding in better handling of non-alphanumerics. I don't want to have to look up a stupid octal table every time I type in my labels.

  • How do i convert my scanned jpg images into word

How do i convert my scanned jpg images into word

    No, Acrobat Pro is expensive
95% of all the professional scanned in books are in PDF, the entire structure and countless years of work have gone into Acrobat being not just the "best" standard for scanned books, but really the ONLY standard for them.
Yes, many many little programs can convert to PDF after you have them in a file, or even from Safari you can "print as PDF" or "save as PDF"
however it just saves them as PDF, and you can use Acrobat READER for free,....
but Reader is just that, a reader, you cannot do pro editing, scale down the file size etc etc, signatures, portfolios etc.
Ive got a 42 Terabyte collection of PDF books,.....Ive spent too much time staring at PDF books   LoL.

  • Converting sequence of anlaog pulses into digital pulses

    Hello,
I am working to detect the peaks in a particular interval of time say 'x'. I acquired the analog signals( the pulses) as shown in the image here AcquiredPulse from analog board using DAQ.Before detecting the peaks of the pulses of different amplitudes having nearly same time period shown in the above image I want to convert them into digital pulses or pulses of same amplitude so that it will be easy for the post process of detecting peaks. And after obtaining this I need to find out the time interval between the pulses.
Can any one help me with implementation of this.

  • Converting analog signals into digital signals

I have been transferring analog video cassettes to iMovie for further editing by using a digital camcorder (Canon MV960) between the 8mm video camcorder (analog camcorder) and iMac. I have always done this without any cassette in the digital camcorder, i.e. I have been using the digital camcorder as an analog/digital converter only.
I recently acquired iMovie HD 6 but this most recent version of iMovie refuses to import any signal from the analog camcorder via the digital camcorder. The window in iMovie is empty with an error message saying that "no tape". Well, it's true, there is no tape, there never was any tape when I used the previous version of iMovie!
Does this mean that I have to convert the analog video tape into digital video tape and, once recorded in digital format, the digital tape can be imported in iMovie HD 6?
    All cable connections are OK:
    - the analog film could be seen in the screen of the digital camcorder:
    - digital video tape could be imported to iMovie HD 6.

    Hi 5480:
try running a permissions repair (which should actually be done before and after upgrading software). You will find it in applications / utility / disk utility.
Also, this is a copy of how Matti Haveri (iMovie Guru) sets up analoge to DV:
My Analog to DV passthrough settings memo:
    1. Take the tape out of the camcorder
    2. Connect the analog device's audio and video to the camcorder's minijack, use the S-Video jack for video if the output device supports S-Video
    3. Put the camcorder into VTR-mode
    4. Select A/V->DV out: ON, in VTR mode's menu choices
    5. Disable the info display on the the camcorder by toggling its DISPLAY button
    6. Put iMovie (or other DV application) to the Camera Mode
The analog image should now appear on the camcorder's screen as well as on the iMovie's screen.
Note that if you have a tape in the camcorder, you have to put the camcorder's VTR into REC mode (you may pause the tape) but this is not advisable because it produces wear to the tape.
    * Note that the SCART which comes with the European nEUtered TRV320E camcorder is Out-only.

  • I am having a problem converting a scanned pdf file into Excel.

I am having a problem converting a scanned pdf file into Excel. I do not get the columns and rows to align, just a single column of everything. Any suggestions?

Export makes use of what is "in" a PDF.
Good export is the "silk purse" and, ya know, you canna make a silk purse from a sow's ear (which is what any scanned image in PDF is with regards to export).
The quality of export is dictated by the quality of the PDF. We are taking about the "inner essences" of the PDF (e.g., degree of compliance with the PDF Standard - ISO 32000-1).
So, what goes in goes out or "GIGO".
This has nothing to do with Acrobat or Acrobat's export process.
    A well-formed Tagged PDF (compliant to ISO 32000-1 & ISO 14289-1, PDF/UA-1) provides a PDF that proactively
    supports content export by Acrobat.
To get the good stuff from export you start with a well-formed Tagged PDF.
    Goodstuff In — Goodstuff Out

    Garbage In — Garbage Out

    Be well...
