Convert Selection to MP3 (from AAC) freezes PC and forces soft re-boot

Caused by another error in I Tunes. Since the latest upgrade, all CDs that I imported created AAC files rather than MP3 as I had previously selected. If you select an albums worth of tracks to convert to MP3, after a few tracks, the PC hangs (including mouse and Keyboard) and the only option is to hit the reset button.

this has happened to me before. all u do when u try to burn in mp3 and some do burn. u know wat u do. select those that have not been converted and do them again. this is how i do mine. move the curser to point at which the conversion stopped, then press the shift key while trying to select the rest of the songs either up button or down, it should be down cus those that have not been converted will always be down. so press shift +down curser and until u get to the last song. right click the songs and press convert, it wil start burning again. and that is all.if u find problem let me know.

  • Convert to MP3 from AAC

how do I convert file in iTunes from AAC to MP3 for use elsewhere?

Note that this method only works on unprotected AAC files, as might result from ripping a CD.
If you have (unwisely) purchased any Protected AAC files from the iTunes Music Store, they cannot be converted. All you can do with them is use iTunes to burn them to an audio CD.

  • Converting selections to MP3 option in iTunes

When using convert selection to MP3 in iTunes is there any options that need to be configured or are they set to default?
    Thanks.

The conversion settings default from whatever you have set in your import settings. The default setting for iTunes is AAC so if you want to convert songs to MP3 then you have to change your import settings to MP3. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3 for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format

  • New iTunes 4.9 doesn't convert .mpg into .mp3 or aac ?

    hello support!
I'm a producer in a german radiostation. we're working with soundfiles saved in .mpg files (mpeg1 audio). In past (with version 4.8) it was possible to import that files into itunes and convert it into mp3 or aac. Now, with that new podcast version, it doesn't work. If I try, I get an unknown error "(-50)". does anyone know about this problem?
and another question: why does itunes play that .mpg files without any problems and ipod doesn't ???

    Dennis,
    What I did:
    1) I bought apple quicktime pro do not follow me in this it won't help you.. I got angry and at the apple store they said I would get my money back because I asked them BEFORE I bought and they said it would work. It doesn't
    2) I downloaded MPEG streamclip (free) at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
    AND....
It works! You do not need to buy the Apple quicktime MPEG 2 component rubbish, you do not need it if you convert just audio!
I have MP2 files with 384 kbbs and I was looking a bit odd when they showed up as 192 kbbs but that is per stereo channel so the total comes to 384 again.
I transferred the files into AIFF and it works I do see a conversion into AC3 is that AAC? well if you can convert to AIFF you can use iTunes again to convert to AAC or MP3!
so now you can do the job! I am now, after a few hours, again back to start to work..... thanks iTunes boys!
there is another app at http://www.dekorte.com/projects/shareware/SoundConverter/ is seems to do the job as well but it'll cost you 10 dollar. And I do not know if it is as good as the free app...

  • Convert Selection to mp3?

Ok, I know how to convert selected songs to mp3, but I have a question. I see iTunes duplicates the song so I'll have one .mp4 and one .mp3. Obviously, I don't want 2 of the same song so is the best/easiest way to get rid of the duplicate to simply delete it? Or is there an option where I can have it delete the old song and replace it with the new .mp3 version? And will I lose any quality in converting a song from .mp4 to .mp3?
Thanks a lot for any help.

"Over time all of my songs turn to mp4 though." I'm sorry but that just isn't possible unless someone converts them. If you are importing in AAC format, the file extension is .m4a, the file extension for store purchases is ,m4p (protected AAC format), so are you sure you have the format posted correctly? To check this, right click on any of the songs, then "get info", that will give you the format/file extension. Yes, you do lose quality when converting from on Lossy format to another. I do not use mp3 to import, I use AAC, but to get the equivalent audio quality of a store purchase which is protected AAC @ 128, you would have to import in mp3 @ 160.
Yes, you will have to manually delete your dups. Hope all of this helps.

  • Can Photoshop Convert Selected File-types From a Folder Full of Files?

I have a folder with approximately 20,000 files in it. The files are a mix of eps, tif, jpg, and PSD files. I want to convert all the eps files to tifs. For now I've created a folder into which I move approximately 500 eps files at a time (that I manually select) and then run a batch action I created to convert them. This works fine but you can imagine how long this process will take (moving, converting, emptying the folder, moving 500 more files, and so on). I'd like to know if there's a way, either within an action or the batch command (or possibly a script or even some other way) that Photoshop would select only the eps files to convert. I could let it run overnight if it were possible.
I'm using Photoshop CC on a Mac running 10.6.8 with 7GB RAM.
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

I'm not sure about EPS files but the rest can be taken care of via File > Scripts > Image Processor. I'm pretty sure that EPS files can't be handled by Image Processor though.

  • How do I select a song from my ITunes Library and apply to a picture folder for a slide show?

How do I selcet a song from my ITunes library and apply it to a picture folder for a slide show. I have a PC, not a Mac.

    Short answer:
Click Hide Song(s), it is what you wanted to do...
    Long answer:
iTunes in the Cloud is a feature of your iTunes store account that allows you to redownload or stream your past purchases. When you delete a purchased track that is downloaded to your computer (like the first one shown here) you are asked if you also want to hide the song from iCloud. This would remove it from the computer and also stop it showing up with the iCloud symbol as the other tracks from that album (which are not downloaded) do.
If a track shows with the cloud symbol you can play (stream) it by double-clicking the title, or click the cloud symbol to download a local copy to your library. If you try to delete one of these tracks you get a slightly different message confirming that you want to hide the track. Clicking hide will remove the listing from the library and any other device that shows your past purchases.
Should you want to retrieve any item hidden in this way at a later date use Store > View My Account > iTunes in the Cloud > Hidden Purchases > Manage.
To hide all your previous purchases that are not downloaded to your computer use Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.

  • Frequent freeze-up and forced re-starts on iMac 21.5"

Hi, Had my 21.5 inch iMac since December last year and been massively impressed to date. However over the last few days it has developed a problem where it will freeze up and the screen will turn grey from top to bottom. It then displays a dialogue box which asks me to shutdown by holding the power button. This will happen randomly usually after approx 5 minutes use. Seems to be worse when accessing the HDD for data etc (tried to back up my photos and froze up). New to the whole Mac thing having previously being a PC user so unsure how best to seek assistance, Main concern is that I will lose my data if I have to re-install OS X. Would appreciate any assistance.

What you are seeing is a kernel panic. They are generally caused by hardware. If you want to what to solve this on your own I would suggest starting with AHT. Otherwise take it back to Apple. They will fix it for the first year.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information such as bookmarks and history.
Note: ''But this will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • I want to make a video where the user can select a film from the main menu and it plays over and over.

How can I do that? Segmentation Markers? Thanks in advance for answering my noob question.

The function of looping a media file (i.e. movie) is typically a function of the media player software, it can not be embedded into a movie file.
As an alternative a video DVD can be programmed during authoring to loop any file (i.e. at end, jump to, start of file)

  • Airport freezes computer and forces restart...

Until I installed leopard I NEVER had this problem and it is extremely frustrating. About once or twice a day, my internet will stop working (even though the modem is fine... only the mac shows it has stopped working). Once I click on the airport button, a gray screen comes up and the computer freezes. The gray screen says that the computer must be restarted. Once it's restarted everything is fine, but why is this happening? I am so disappointed with Leopard. Anyway to fix this or uninstall Leopard?

Here are a few other suggestions.
I believe you have the built-in Airport Extreme card (802.11abgn).
+NOTE: Trashing any Preferences files may/will cause you to reset some of your preferences. (Don't actually empty the Trash, you may need the files back again....oops!.....forgot about TM).+
If you haven't already, you need to trash the Airport Preferences and restart the Mac.
The file(s) is located here: +HD/Users/(Home Folder)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist+ (or very similar)
Disconnect your Mac from the internet (pull the plug), trash the com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist file (do not empty Trash), and restart your Mac immediately.
Click on the Airport icon in the menu bar....if it crashes, restart. If it doesn't, then plug in your internet connection and try to connect again.
If you have the Airport Utility app, (HD/Applications/Utilities/Airport Utility), then check for updates via the Airport Utility menu.
Or, unplug from internet, and from the Airport Utility preferences uncheck the "Check for Updates Weekly?" preference, trash the com.apple.airport.airportutility.plist file again, and restart. Plug in to internet and try connecting.
If there are any MSN Messenger preferences files:
+(HD/Users/(Home Folder)/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.msnmessenger.plist+ (or similar), then trash them and restart.
    Unplug from internet.
Hold down the Command key and click and drag the Airport icon in the menu bar to the desktop and let go. Poof! Now you don't have to worry about the internet anymore......Ha!....just kidding. Go to: +HD/System/Library/Core Services/Menu Extras/AirPort.menu+ and double-click the AirPort.menu file and it should appear in the main menu bar again. But before you add it back to the menu bar restart the Mac.
This last suggestion involves re-seating your Airport card in its plug but because you are still under warranty, you should take it to an Apple Repair center and let them do it. I don't know if this is a problem, the Kernel Panic that you are getting could be hardware related, but as a last resort I would have no problem doing it.....even under warranty......but thats me.
    Post back.
