    > How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.  Or, covert the color to B&W in a new doc?
The general idea is that you colour correct photographs once, archive, and convert with or without colour changes. The archived photograph is unchanged - or we would be colour correcting the same photographs again and again and again.
If you have a photograph with a corrected exposure, you can open the photograph in the Apple ColorSync Utility, apply a colour space conversion to a grayscale appearance using the preinstalled ICC profile, save the photograph under another name, and place that in your pagination.
If you have a paginated document with corrected exposures, and any such non-scalable bitmap or scalable spline graphics as you have chosen to add, you can render the pagination as a whole to PDF through the same ICC profile, carrying out the same colour space conversion on any and all objects.
Caveat: If you intend the pagination for certain processes, in particular offset lithography, then you are probably  expected not to render the type to grayscale, but rather to render it to single ink solid black. No software can determine what printing process you intend, you have to understand a bit about printing, and how to set up general colour space conversions in software. Ask your prepress provider, and if the answer is not prompt and proficient, pick another provider.

  • How to make a scanned document into text in pages to save time from rewritting it?

HELP!!! Just like there is a way for Word Microsoft to have a document scanned and then convert it to text to save time from rewritting/retyping it, I want to know if there is a way for pages?  If so, please tell me at least step by step. thank you.

    Hi penguin,
You might try PDF OCR X, a drag and drop application for OS X. The 'community' version is free, but is limited to single page PDF documents. The 'enterprise' version removes that limitation, but costs $30 (US).

  • Is it possible to convert specific pages to greyscale within a PDF?

We got a print job from our customer on PDF. Probably created in Word. It's about 3/4 color and the rest black and white. Problem is, Word creates "rich black" which triggers a color impression on our color copier. If it were done in InDesign and done correctly, it would just be K and the copier would recognize that and give us a black click only. Obviously, color clicks cost a lot more than black clicks so I want to be able to specify say pages 50-53, 58-59, 66-78  etc and convert just those pages to actual greyscale so that the machine will recognize as greyscale and give us a black click. Is that possible?
    Acrobat Pro X 10.1.7 on OSX 10.8
    Thanks!

I've created Preflight > Fixup's for this scenerio a couple times.
I found that if the document space (or type?) was rgb, than as shown will not work. I have a version for rgb, but just converted the document to cmyk when I last ran it.
Fixups seem to apply to the whole document. (@Adobe - why??? Let me define a page range in that page range box)
Swapping pages from one to the other after use would be necessary, but cheaper than Pitstop for occasional use.
I would expect that the copier, driven by a RIP, will allow page ranges to be defined as cmyk or gray.
With our Fiery I use mixed media to define grayscale within a mixed job. (Mixed media is not available if imposing within the RIP however)

  • Converting a Pages Doc into a quality PDF?

I have created my resume within Pages and when I export it to a PDF, the fonts appear to blur and lose significant quality. Is this an Adobe issue? Are there certain fonts that do not convert? THX!

    OK. I'll play.
How many guesses do we get to find out what fonts you are talking about, what application you are using to view the pdfs, and what system it is on?

  • How can I convert 300 pages of Text to a PDF?

What product would I need to convert a PDF file (300 pages of text) back into a Word 2007 document? How would I load it onto a computer that is not online? Would I lose all the PDF formating? Thank you.

acrobat pro can save pdfs to word documents.
how would you load what, that's located where onto a computer that's not online and is what relationship to the file that's to be loaded?
no, you wouldn't necessarily lose pdf formatting when converting to a word document.  i'm not sure you'll be able to edit everything in word, though.

  • Scrolling 1 page at a time from my MacBook keyboard?

Can I generate a keyboard shortcut to do this? I can't find a way myself. Am I missing something simple?

Both fn + up or down arrow as well as ctr + the arrows works fine on my MBP. I haven't adjusted the view to fit the window so it moves one window view at the time.
If it is slow on your computer there is something else not working as it should. Have you restarted the computer lately? Restarted Pages? Saved the document often?
For diagnostic purposes you can create a new user account in the system preferences. Log in and try Pages in the new account. If Pages behaves here there is something wrong in the old account. Most often it helps to delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist in the Users > your name > Library > preferences.

  • When my home page opens (iGoogle) Firefox has quit loading several pages like NY Times, etc. on the Google page. Why is this? Can it be corrected? Thanks

The question above pretty well explains the issue. The entire page just won't load, regardless of how long I wait. It seems to hang up on csi.gstatic.com

  • Can only print one page at a time

    Using Adobe Reader 9.4.2
    Operating system Arch Linux
    Printer Brother DCP-115C
When trying to print more than one page at a time in a PDF document,
Adobe Reader appears to create the print
the print job appears in my print queue
the printer says 'Receiving Data', but only momentarily
    the printer resumes 'normal' status
the printer does not print anything
It is as if there is very little data actually sent to the printer, even though the print job appears to be 254k in size
When I try to print one page at a time from a PDF document
Adobe Reader appears to create the print
the print job appears in my print queue
the printer says 'Receiving Data' for several seconds
    the printer prints the page
    no problem
It seems to me that Adobe is creating a print job (for multiple pages) that the printer either does not understand, or the printer believes that there is nothing to print.
I am able to print everything that I need to, but only one page at a time!
Does anyone else experience this problem? Do you know how to overcome this?

You can use printPages(1, 5), however I need to know how you print current page.

  • PDF to JPG quality

I'm a newbee and this may be very basic, but I have not been able to figure it out.
GOAL: Get a WORD Table on my website as JPG
I have been instructed to Save WORD DOC as PDF.  Check
Then Save PDF as JPG. Check
Crop as needed and Re-Save. Check
The JPG has very low quality (fuzzy edges) compared to the one my Webmaster did for me.
I tried reducing the size of the JPG to 70%, 60% and even 50% with the same fuzzy results.
It looks clean on the computer but isn't producing the same results online.
Question: Are there different levels of Adobe acrobat.  In other words my Free Download won't give me the same quality as a purchased version?

If you use the save as jpg with maximum quality you may be able to do what you want. The problem with saving as jpg is that it is a lossy process. Each time you save as jpg you will loose detail. If you don't use the maximum quality you may loose too much detail. The people who are giving you directions are people who do not know what they are saying.  What program are you doing your cropping in? What program are you  using to resize the graphic?
You should be cropping in Acrobat before saving as jpg. That is one less save, one less loss of quality. JPG files are designed for photographs, they are really the wrong tool for displaying these images. I would choose either gif or png. But more importantly these are very simple tables and should be displayed as html tables. This can be done in word. You don't need to learn how to create html.
I am attaching two copies of the cropped file. Here is the first with the quality of the jpg set to maximum and the picture set to greyscale (as opposed to the rgb that was used in the web version). The size is more than 200KB.
Here is the file saved as a greyscale png. File size 20 KB
The quality is similar, but the difference in file size is huge. Note, that saving from pdf to jpg is insufficient since the graphics are too large they must be resized. If you resize the graphic and resave as jpg you loose more quality and detail than if this is done with a png. But note that you may get ok reproduction with jpg set to maximum, but that is still no reason not to use a more appropriate image type like png. As to what your superior is telling you to do, speak with the people responsible for the web site. See what they suggest, get them to speak with your superiors. There is no extra work saving as jpg or png, just the size and quality of the result.

  • Is it possible to convert several pdf files (into Excel or Word) at the same time ?

I'd like to convert several pdf files (up to 500) into Excel at the same time. Is it possible ? How many files can Export PDF handle at the same time ?
Thanks a lot for your answers,
    Sylvain

    Hi, Sylvain.
This is a great idea! Currently, ExportPDF only can export 1 file at a time. (Acrobat can do a batch export using it's Action Wizard feature.)
I added your idea to our idea list: http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1499. If you'd like to see us add this feature, please go vote or add comment to this Idea on the idea list.

  • I use Acrobat to convert firefox pages to pdf and with firefox4 I need to be able to copy and pasted text from the pdf and no longer can.

With the prior version of Firefox I could convert web pages (financial data) to pdf for maintaining historical files. And then with the pdf, I was able to copy and paste the numbers into Excel. With Firefox4, I can convert to pdf with Acrobat but I cannot access the numbers for copying and pasting as text, only as a picture. While I prefer Firefox, I check to see if this problem recently started with the "other" company's web browser and did not have this problem. So, it is not Acrobat.

    HI djlarp,
Try triple-clicking in the text that you want to select--it can sometimes be tricky to select text in a converted document. If that doesn't work, it could be that the PDF document was created from a scanned document, and OCR wasn't enabled when you converted the document. (However, OCR is enabled by default when you convert via the ExportPDF website.)
If you're unable to select text by triple-clicking, let us know. I would be happy to take a closer look at your files.
    Best,
    Sara

    Hello:
Open Pages.  Go to the menu bar>file>export.  Select PDF.  The size of the file should be irrelevant.
