Convert shared Apple ID to Family sharing.

Hi All,
My kids and I all share the same Apple ID for our purchases etc. With the new Family Sharing option I would like to set them up with their own Kids Account.
I have set everything up, child accounts, on my iPad but the only thing I can't figure out is how to save the data (game scores etc) that they currently have on their own devices over to the new account.
I get a message saying everything will be wiped when I try and change the iTunes ID on their iPads.
Any ideas, or will it all be lost if I want to use the new Family Sharing feature?
Cheers,
AJ

  • How do I delete a child apple id from family sharing

I have (please don't ask me how) doubled up my child's account under family sharing and need to delete one of them.  How do I delete a child apple id in family sharing?
Any directions gratefully received.  You do not get the normal remove button that you get for an adult.

    Hello javyocks,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Concerning the issue with multiple Apple ID's, please look at the following:

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.
    Take care,

  • Recent convert to Apple. Previously, I backed up my family pictures from PC to an external hard drive,  a WD MyBook 3T. I can view the pics on my Macbook Pro, but I can't add new pictures. I'm sure this is a format issue, any easy way to correct it?

    Install NTFS 3G

If you were going to be reading and writing to a NTFS System Partition, you might have to worry about the instability messing up the operating system.  However, you are reading/writing from a non system, backup device so you don't have to worry about screwing up an operating system.
I would still temporarily move my data to another device and reformat the drive for Mac OS X Extended.

The iPad and related software is designed to sync with only one computer. I suggest transferring the photos from one of your iMacs to the other so that all photos are on one Mac. Same for all other files you want to sync over.
To get those AppleWorks files to the iPad you'll have to determine if Pages will open them. If it will then use the file sharing feature of iTunes to copy them to Pages on your pad.
If Pages will not open the AppleWorks files directly you'll have to save them in some format that Pages will read. These include but may not be limited to Pages and Word formats.

  • Can I convert an apple store gift card into a itunes gift card

Can I convert an apple store gift card into a itunes gift card. I bought the wrong one.

Hey Carterc25, I have been dealing with the same issue this morning... I've talked to the senior adviser of Applecare and "Bruce" told me the only way to convert apple gift card to itunes is by physically going to an Apple Retail Store and buy an Itunes gift card. Many people don't understand the difference between "apple" and "itunes" in gift cards so it is only obvious more people will fall victim to scheme. My advice is DO NOT BUY APPLE GIFT CARD.

I am not sure there is a way to do that, but if it is possible you need Apple's help. Contact with iTunes Store support -> http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact

No, all content (music, books, movies and apps) bought from iTunes and App Stores using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

  • Apple id/ icould family sharing

I was hoping someone could help me or point me in the right direction.  I have been using my old mobile me account converted into icloud account for my phone (thankfully paid for by work) on my iPhone 5s and  iPad mini.  Before family sharing was available, I wanted my wife and 2 children to be able to use the apps/music/movies that I had already purchased, so I set them all up on their phones using my apple id (not my icloud ID).  It did create some issues w/ calendar, contact and photo stream sharing as you might imagine, but overall it was fine.  Now with family sharing, I would like to give each of them their own icloud account, but use family sharing so we can all use the same app/music.  How do I switch them?  I have already made sure to do a back up to the cloud, but when I go to settings-->icloud and try to sign out, it warns me that everything on the specific phone that is from the cloud will be deleted from the phone.  I don't want them to lose that data.  What should I do?  Should I back up the info to the computer, instead of the icloud?  Last question, is there anyway to have them share my icloud for storage, documents, etc?  I am paying for a 200g cloud, it seems that the whole family should be able to use this.    Sorry for the long question

    Hello zoebendad,
First off all, yes I would recommend using your computer for a back up and storing all the valuable information (iMazing.com) is also a great tool for exporting and storing almost everything from your phone(s) on your computer.
Secondly, unfortunately you cannot share one iCloud storage plan between family members and another thing I would like to mention before you are switching from your current Apple ID model to family sharing: Please note, that thing you buy via "in-app purchase" cannot be shared amongst family members.
    With kind regards,
    David

  • Issue with adding an Apple ID to family sharing

I converted an old apple ID to an ID that is a real email address, as the old one no longer was a valid email address.
After creating the new Apple ID I tried to add this ID to the family share as many of the iTunes purchases of songs and apps were done under this ID.
The invitation was sent to the new apple ID email address, but when I tried to accept the invitation, I received an error bubble that said " Invalid Invitation, you are already part of this family". When I went back to iCloud it would show that the invitation was still unaccepted. How do I fix this?

  • How do i add an apple id for family sharing for my husband

I am trying to set up family sharing and have added my daughters easily but when i try and invite my husband it says we cant as he email address is already associated with my apple id. How can i set him up to use family sharing?

Go to Settings/Messages. Tap on Send & Receive, then on Apple ID. Sign out, then sign in with his Apple ID and password.
After doing this you will not be able to use iMessage for your own messages.

  • Switching from shared Apple ID to separate Apple IDs with Family Sharing?

My family (me, wife and 2 kids) all share the same Apple ID. We share it for everything (App Store, iCloud, etc.). We did this because I didn't want to purchase the same music or apps multiple times. This has worked well for several years. But with iOS 8, we can use Family Sharing, but not if we share an Apple ID (at least not when using a shared Apple ID on iCloud). So my question is, how do we switch from a shared account to separate accounts using Family Sharing, while not losing access to any apps or music? I've seen many previous posts (pre-iOS 8) state that I can create new Apple IDs for my wife and 2 kids, then just use them for iCloud and leave the App Store associated with our existing shared Apple ID, but then when they go to update apps, they'll need to enter my password (which my kids do not know, since they don't currently need the password to updates apps with the shared Apple ID. When they want to purchase a new app, be it free or paid, they have to come to my wife or me to enter the password.)
What I'm think is this. Let me know if this would work:
    1) Create new Apple IDs for my wife and kids.
    2) Before changing anything on their iPhones, go into my phone (which will remain on our existing Apple ID) and turn on Family Sharing and add them to my family so we can share purchases.
    3) Once Family Sharing is enabled, change their iCloud login to their new Apple ID accounts. That enables Family Sharing on their devices and they'll be part of my family.
None of the above steps solves for the "you must enter Dad's Apple ID password to update your apps" problem. So my question is, should I also change their App Store account to their new Apple IDs as well? If you say that won't help (because apps will always be associated with the Apple ID they're originally purchased with), then I don't understand how Family Sharing works when you buy apps. In other words, will Family Sharing enable us to share apps that we already downloaded, or just new apps?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Jason

You should be able to have purchases from more than one Apple ID on one device (up to five I think).  When you create the new Apple ID and just leave the apps already on the ipad alone, you shouldn't have any problems.

  • How do we use the same Apple id for Family sharing without syncing podcast?

We tried to set up family sharing to share apps and music but our podcasts kept updating, syncing and wold get deleted when another member would listen to hem or delete them to make room on their device. Can we share without this podcast issue?

You can set the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Stores, but have different Apple ID's for Messages, iCloud and Facetime.
    Settings->iCloud->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Facetime->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Messages->Send & Receive->Apple ID->Sign Out
Just go into Settings, and make sure the Apple ID set for those services is different for both iPads.

  • Can I load an iTunes card to a Child Apple ID under family sharing, so he can buy through there?

I have created an apple id for my son (he is 10 years old) and I want to load it with credit from an iTunes card so he can use that money for himself. Will the apps bought through his apple id, charge to the itunes card or to my Credit Card?

    Hi arturo218,
I see that you have some questions about using an Apple ID for a child. While the information you have provided about what you would like to ultimately be able to do is a little unclear, I believe I have some informative articles that will help you achieve your goals. First, here is a basic article about using an Apple ID for kids and using ask to buy:

You can also set up an iTunes Allowance for your child, which is explained in this article:

  • Multiple Apple IDs and Family Sharing

i am using the multiple Apple ID setup with an old pre-iCloud Apple ID for purchases (to keep my preexisting music) and a new Apple ID for my iCloud data and new email, etc. I am set up per the Apple support article on multiple Apple IDs.
now the Family Sharing has been released, I would like to merge the two accounts. Will Apple be providing a way to do this?

I'm not surprised you haven't seen them on here. The search in these forums is abysmal. I don't remember which I'd seen on here, and can't find it again myself.
    Here's a writeup with screenshots:
    http://9to5mac.com/2014/09/19/ios-8-how-to-set-up-and-use-family-sharing/
I had a harder time finding out which apple ID an invited family member should use if they have two IDs in the same way that you and I do. It seems that the invited person can do the same - join the family share group with their iCloud ID, then specify the different Apple ID they have been using for their purchases.
