Convert .swf to .flv

I would like to figure out how to convert a .swf file created
with Captivate to .flv. .flv seems to intergrate better with
Dreamweaver. You can simply insert .flv with Dreamweaver, but this
does not seem to be the case with .swf.
I have tried to import the .swf file into Flash 8 and to use
the flash video encoder, but have not had success.
Any help will be appreciated.
John

Your best bet is to continue your efforts to import to Flash
8, unless the Captivate project contains some critical objects that
are not supported in Flash (some are, some aren't).
If you arre having trouble getting Flash 8 to read Captivate
files, you might
try
this link. Captivate was released to be compatible with Flash
2004MX, and the workaround for Flash 8 users is at the link.
BTW, an alternative to FLV is to use the SWF files right from
Captivate, but in order for them to "stream" well, you will have to
keep them compact - an art that most Captivate users haven't
learned - or even heard about - in the days of hte 1200x900 movie .
. . sigh . . .
Hope this helps.

I am not talking about any third party converter software.
    Thanks,

    Hi swati61,
I'm not sure why do you want to play an swf file in flv player. Will you post it on your website?
If yes, here is a solution:

If you want to convert flv to swf, you can check this

  • Converting swf to flv to take advantage of streaming

    The problem
My captivate 6 SWF is set to start playing after 1% download is achieved. You can see the movie at www.gmatfix.com/swf/app_videointro.swf.  My site uses the standard ActionScript3 Loader class to load the SWF, but in so doing, the entire file gets loaded before it starts playing, regardless of the preloader percentage I set. If you clear your cache and go to http://www.gmatfix.com/#/app/videointro, you will notice that there is a significantly longer delay before the file is available for playing. I would like to avoid this delay.
    Failed Solution
I would like to convert the SWF to an FLV file since these (I believe) can be played in embedded flash content even while they are still being downloaded.  I removed the only interaction from the SWF (a couple of buttons on the last slide), and the advanced interactions panel (F9) in Captivate shows no interaction on any slide.  I then tried to follow the instructions from Adobe on how to get Captivate output to FLV by publishing the project as F4V and using Adobe Media Encoder to convert F4V to FLV.  However, in Media publishing options I don't see the F4V media type; only EXE, APP, and MP4.  I tried dropping the SWF directly into Adobe Media Encoder, but the SWF is not compatible with that application.
What is the best way to convert an SWF (contains no interactions besides the playbar) to FLV?
    Thanks

Hi emmision and welcome to our community
Do you have Flash handy and are you comfortable using it? If
so, you might try bringing the Captivate into Flash and pumping out
    the .FLV from there.

  • Alpha Video... need to convert SWF to FLV

I am working on a video ad that includes video that was shot
using a green screen. The video has been masked and brought into
Flash 8, where background effects were added. Everything is working
perfectly with flash, but I need the final product as an FLV. I
cannot output a quicktime movie because quicktime only supports up
to flash player 5, and I need it output as flash player 8 to
support the alpha included on the video.
I attempted to import the SWF into Final cut pro HD 4.5 (then
output as an FLV), but I received a file error, guessing that it
may have an issue with Flash player 8 as well??
Has anyone else run into this issue and found a solution? any
    help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Brent

    Thanks for the article.
I realized I had the embedded video placed in a movie clip
and had to convert those the graphic symbols.
That brings up another issue for me though. I need the masked
video to fade-in and fade-out at the end of each clip. The graphic
symbol is starting over at each keyframe, other than playing
through. Is there a trick to get this to work? Also, The sound is
embedded in the video, but it is not included exported movie
(quicktime movie exported with 44 kHz 16-bit stereo).
    Thanks!

  • Converting swf to flv with flash video encoder

    Hi...
I have a couple of questions please... I have managed to put some captions on a video file and would now need to get this video back into flv format to put it online;..I tried with the cs3 video encoder but it wouldn't let me.... So my questions are:
    1. Is it actually possible to convert my swf file into flv with cs3 video encoder ...which would be logical as it is a flash file...
    2. What is the best option I Have to convert my swf file with captions without losing the captions...
Many thans for any clear help as I am not a code guru....
    Regards
    Flav

    Hi Vlaf (Flav),
the main thing for converting a flash swf into a flv is to make sure that the timeline is not embeded inside a moveclip (meaning that the timeline of the movie is on the MAIN timeline....and not nested somewhere else.
if this is right, then it should export correctly. If it still fails with the Encoder....try an alterative encoder caller "Super"(its free)...and does a great job!
unless specified by your client or target advert host, always try to use a minimum of 30 frames per second and you should be good to go.

  • Exporting FLA/SWF to FLV

How can I turn my Flash 8 animation into an FLV file?
The only solution I've found is exporting it as a .MOV file.
But to do this I have to use Flash 5, which destroys my animation
    since there's no movieclip filters.
There has to be a way to do this, or Adobe is just retarded
for not seeing the massive need for animators uploading to the web
via FLV. My searches online for a solution have been fruitless.
    Please help!
    Thaaaaaaaaaaanks.

I realize that this is a response to a post that was first added a loooonng time ago, but thought I'd weigh in on this topic after cruising through this forum.
One possible solution to converting SWF to FLV (although many other folks have suggested using other 3rd party tools) is to export your fla as a .MOV file.  Afterall, the Flash Video Encoder that comes shipped as part of the Pro version of the software will only allow you to encode .avi/.mov, etc files.
So, while working in Flash, rather than converting the file to swf, go to File -> Export -> Export Movie and output the file as an avi/mov file or whatever.  From there, import the resulting file into the Video Encoder and that will help convert the file into an flv.
Hope that helps, and sorry for the delayed response to this post!

  • Swf or flv files on Quicktime.

I would like to know how to convert swf or flv files to Quicktime. It's been quite frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Quicktime can't play SWF flies. Quicktime stop being able to play SWF files about 5 years ago because of security issues with the files. Quicktime could only play SWF file from Flash version 5 and below. Anyway, if you could convert the SWF file to Quicktime you will loose most of the SWF animation.

  • Convert FLA/SWF to FLV

Hello, although I’m sure this topic has already popped
up in this forum, I was still unable to find a satisfactory answer
nor was I able to hear from Adobe regarding this…
I do have to convert SWFs or FLAs to FLVs; is there a way to
do so? I find it extremely frustrating that if you develop a movie
using flash, although you can export it to a Windows avi file or to
a QuickTime movie, you cannot export it to an FLV… I
understand that the word “Flash” from FLash Video means
that you can view it via Flash player, but wouldn’t it make
sense to be able to export a Flash movie to an FLV using Adobe
“Creative” Suite rather than having to use some obscure
    software to perform the conversion?
    Thanks.

I've been saying this since Adobe first introduced the FLV
    video format.
They give you a separate application bundled with Flash so
that you can convert to FLV, and they slipstreamed it into Flash
itself for importing videos (all videos get converted to FLV on
import). But for some reason, they haven't given us the ability to
export FLV directly out of Flash. Makes no sense to me. (especially
when we can export FLV out of Photoshop...)

And they all played. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Diane

  • How do I convert a .swf to .flv

    Hi,
I'm currently developing content for a flash e-learning
environment that requires .flv extension. I'm using Captivate 3 for
the task of creating the content, but have not found a way to
export or convert the .swf output of Captivate to make it .flv
I'm totally at a loss - can anyone help?

I'm not sure this will help, but what I know is that the FLV
format is designed for streaming or progressive download of video
from the server to the user's browser by converting it to the flv
format via an import procedure into a Flash doc. Normally I use
Flash to import a movie into a Flash file layer, add a sound layer
for, say, a background music loop, on another layer and publish it
as a swf and flv, using the Component Inspector to set the rewind
    to "true" or "false".
This process creates two required files: the final swf and an
flv which calls the swf when the page opens or other event occurs
on the web page. The user experience is absent the jerky appearance
that often occurs from swf alone or movies alone.
The video component that is imported into my Flash doc as
described in my first paragraph above, can either be a .mov from
anywhere or one I create in Flash and export as an .mov
I don't know about formats other than .mov I think it depends
on your final deployment, i.e. web, dvd, whatever.
I have not used captivate, but if it will create a .mov for
you, should do it. You may have, however, other controls to build
in as well. Flash 8 and above allows you to do that in the process
    of creating the .flv
Then, you must load the .flv and swf onto the server at the
same level. Or, you must make other code changes so the flv "finds"
the swf. A different path can be entered using the Component
    Inspector in Flash.
    Hope that helps.

  • Convert swf to video

Once, I find a very cooling flash on web, I want to put it on
my iPhone, but as you know, iPhone can only play iphone movie, then
I search on line to fine a program that can convert swf to iphone,
and I found Moyea swf to video converter. Actually, there are 9
products in Moyea swf to video converter series, you can choose
according to your own needs, such as swf to video Pro, swf to video
Std, swf to iphone, ipod, 3GP, Mpeg and so on.
Moyea SWF to video Pro is is quite brilliant in the
conversion from SWF to AVI, MP4, MPEG (compatible with DVD, VCD,
SVCD), and 3GP, etc. This program is orientated for video
professionals, business presenters, instructors, web designers,
    video enthusiasts, etc.
As distinct from the crowd of other converters, the program
has no problems related to video and audio asynchronization,
skipped/lost frames, audio distortion, inability to retain Alpha
Channel effect of original Flash files in converted videos and
failure to process internal and external Flash video (FLV).
Instead the program could let you fully enjoy the original
effects of your Flash files on PC, iPod, Zune, Xbox, PSP, cell
phones, DVD players and other portable devices when you are on the
move. Generated video files can be cropped, added a transparent
background and an animated watermark, etc.
But I think Moyea swf to iphone converter is enough for me to
use, so I bought it. And after using it, I found that This SWF
Converter is a economical and powerful tool for converting SWF to
video for home use as well as sharing with excellent picture
quality and sound quality. For it cost less and has perfect
performace for converting swf to mp4, swf to iphone video(mp4), swf
to iPod video(mp4), and ripping SWF to MP3,AAC, M4A, WAV audio
    files.
Now I want to share this series of program with all of you.
If you want to know more information please view
    Moyea SWF to video

    Yeah, of course the
SWF to Video Pro supports to
convert SWF to AVI video with alpha, generate 32 bits RGBA file,
offer manual mode for interactive Flash conversion, etc.
Actually you can download the trial version from the home
    page of the product:

  • Convert .SWF

Does anyone know how I can convert .SWF files to either Quicktime or .AVI? Thanks, as always.

You can try Aunsoft SWF Converter, It can convert swf to avi with high quality,
I think it support Quicktime either.
You can download it, install and uninstall very easily!

  • SWF or FLV

Few things make me feel stupid but this is starting to. I
have an Adobe Media Server fully configured and ready to use.
This is my question: I have both videos and tutorials. I have
created my tutorials using Adobe Captive 3, videos are created from
    many outside sources.
My Adobe Captive and Adobe Flash Pro create only SWF files.
So why do I have a Media Server? The point is that I have a large
population that accesses my site daily. My site has a max capacity
of 10M up and down. The SWF files are very large and I do not want
the user do have to down load the whole file before viewing it. I
also do not want to use bandwidth to down load a tutorial that was
    not fully viewed.
My media server only serves up FLV files. So what is Adobe
thinking? I can convert the SWF files to FLV “not using an
    Adobe product”.
So to ask a stupid question: Should I be converting my SWF
files to FLV? And if not why?
    Thanks in advance.

  • I am trying to loop a swf or flv in DM... 2 days of reading and no luck

I purchased a flash file of an animated flag. The artist did a nice job of making the loop pretty seamless. Here's the file:
    http://videohive.net/item/us-american-flag-loop/18643
I only recieved a mov file. I converted it to swf and flv. I have the complete Adobe CS3 Edition including Premier and Flash. I also downloaded some other free converters.
I have spent two days reading web forums on how to make that flag loop in DW. I can't get it going and I'm pretty frustrated. I am a beginner by the way.
I tried the autoloop & autoplay buttons. I tried entering the parameter of "Loop" = true, I've looked at the code a little to make sure everything related to loop, autoplay, auto-rewind was set to true and a whole bunch of other troubleshooting I've read about. It sounds like it has been a problem for others too.
At this point I'm willing to pay in bacon double cheesburgers. If you halp me fix this I'll send some Burger King coupons your way.
    Thank you!

Thank you PZ. I did go through the whole tutorial to see if I was missing something. No luck yet.
The file I recieved was a mov file (I'm not dealing with a fla file at all). I'm opening the mov file in Flash CS3 and convert and export as flv or swf. Iv'e tried both.
The only thing I have not done yet was try uploading my file to my remote hosting service to see if a browser will loop it there. I've been doing my previewing in DW CS3 and hit the "view in browser" button.
If I upload the file to my remote server, would anybody be willing to look at the code and give me a hand in figuring out why it won't loop?
Thank you and I have read all the past questions about this issue on the Adobe forum's and have tried everything I can possible find.
