Convert to a symbol problem

What is happening is, when i convert my button to a symbol it disappears on my stage its invisible. This make's it very difficult for me to see the overall design because i can't see it.. Does anyone know the solution how i can fix this?

I have just created the button and converted it into a symbol. In the timeline i get the four frames but no button to see on stage.

Why does jpeg quality drop when converted to a symbol

I created some nice compressed jpgs and imported them into Flash Pro CS4. When I place them on the stage and they get converted into a symbol the quality visibly drops, as apparently Flash is further compressing them. Is there any way to turn this behaviour off. They don't need any further compression.

I was creating the side by sides to publish, as you suggested, when I noticed that just by dragging the jpgs to the stage that the damage had apparently already been done ie that the bitmap on the stage looked worse than the preview (when set to about the same size). I then began to wonder if the preview was somehow slightly softening the image and making it appear to have less atrifacts. I looked at the bitmap on the stage side by side with the jpeg in Ps and could see no difference. So it seems that the preview may look better with highly compressed images than the actual jpeg and that the problem is only apparent. Thanks for your help in bringing it to light.

I can understand your concern, however can you please let me know that are you able to open both the PDF files ( the one you converted form excel to pdf & the other pdf that was mailed to you ) individually without using any password?
As it asks for the password, it means that the postal mailed PDF is password protected. You can ask for the password from the sender of the postal mail & then try to combine the files.

This will probably resolve your issue.

I have hundreds of the same shape that needs to be converted into a symbol for easy editing. Is there a way to do this in Illustrator?
Background here may be relevant: The place I am working is currently using ai CS 3 & 5 and the files in question are converted Freehand files. I have never been a Freehand user, but apparently you were able to swap one shape for another in Freehand. The closest Illustrator equivalent that I am aware of is the symbols panel. I know how to swap one symbol for another, how to create a symbol from a piece of vector art and how to modify a symbol. What I am trying to do is convert several instances of the same object into several instances of the same symbol without having to replace hundreds of objects manually (ie. trying to get the right placement in a grid and everything).
Is there any efficient solution to the task I have in Illustrator CS 3 or CS 5?

Buttons appear all together after converting them to symbols

Hi.
I created 5 buttons in Edge CC that appear one after the other. After converting them to symbols, they still appear one after the other in the timeline, but in a browser preview they all appear at the same time. Any idead why?

Do you by any chance have autoplay turned on in these symbols?

EZ Vinyl converter to I Tunes problem

Hello, I am converting my old LPs to MP3 using an ION turntable and EZ Vinyl converter software. The turntable combined with the software records the music fine, when I click to finish, the software automatically transfers to Itunes....so far so good. But when the Itunes program is opened a box comes up indicating that EZ Vinyl Converter is "UNABLE TO EXPORT TO I TUNES.PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ANY ACTIVE WINDOWS IN I TUNES"
What happens next is that certain tracks are exported to I tunes, but some are missing and most of the ones that are exported are duplicated. Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks for your input ed2345. As I explained Audacity is complicated but you can record simply without having to wade through reams of instructions, the only thing is that LPs are recorded as one file or song, so when you transfer to ITunes it is treated as one song, so you cannot search for each individual track as you can if you load a CD to ITunes.
There is a ficility on Audacity to have a break between each song so you can then search each track individually, but then that means you have to learn the editing side of Audacity and here lies the problem for me. I have spent the last 4 nights in bed for at least 30 minutes each night reading the Audacity instructions and I am only 10% through them and to be honest I am no farther ahead.
On the EZ vinyl converter software that is so simple, there is a facility when recording the make a marker at the end of each track so then a new file or track is started.....the only thing is EZ Vinyl converter software has a problem at the moment !
Anyway, here I am with 100s of LPs and not able to listen to them yet.

That being said, I guess that you are going to file>save for web & devices. The checkerboard that you are seeing simply means that those areas are transparent.

The animation I just converted to a symbol won't animate. Why?

I recently started animating in flash (we're talking yesterday) and just put together a short animation. I'm attempting to convert this into a symbol in order to place a movie clip into any scene I'd like. However, I am having trouble getting the movie clip to animate afterwards. It's like it is just saving the 1st frame of the animation and not the entire thing.
It appears that someone was encountering a similar problem with this question, but I don't understand the responders answer. Could someone elaborate or provide a better explanation?

Your posting this reminded me about your first posting. We can pick it up there if you like. One thing I should have asked in the other as well was what you are doing when you make the movie play? There are different ways to do it and one will not make movieclips play.

Neither really,
GrammarWriter.OutPutFormat is the name of the class,
GrammarWriter$OutPutFormat.class is the file into which the class is stored.
As to you problem the error messages you posted referred to

Symbol problems and fonts

Hi all!
I have been plagued with a problem when trying to use symbols and think I have figured out what it is:
Custom Fonts not loading!
I'm using two custom fonts in my symbols and sometimes when I upload the project to the web, the fonts are not showing in the project symbols. They ARE uploaded correctly.
The following also seems to happen almost ALL the time (I think it is 100% of the time):
1. I have my symbols in my currently working page loaded into edge and all works as it should, both inside Edge as well as when loading the current page into a browser from Edge.
2. I create a new page and save it to the SAME directory folder as the original working page.
3. I set the stage to the same size as the working page, then "import" the symbol.
4. The font in question is showing automatically under "fonts" and is showing under the "text" drop down to the left in Edge correctly for the selected texts.
5. From here on out, the custom font DOES NOT SHOW in Edge, nor when I try to test in a browser from Edge!
This, of course, is throwing a lot of stuff off in the symbol that has driven me crazy trying to figure out what was happening! wherever the font is used in the symbol, most of the text is too big and causing havoc with the design (wrapping, not being hidden" as it should until the appropriate time, etc...). Until I figured this out, I was even rebuilding entire symbols just to try and fix a problem that I wasn't even aware what it was!
So, obviously, my question is - How to resolve this?
I have ONE working page (and a lot of copies!). Several of these symbols were created to be used elsewhere as well but since everytime I try and load them into a new page they fall apart, I'm in a jam :-)
Has anyone else run into this or have any ideas as to how to resolve this?

ok, I stand before you, head bowed in humiliation, begging for your forgiveness :-)
I'm not sure what is going on but I found the font problem (or at least it seems so).
Somehow (and I don't know how but I think I've been "duplicating the same folder content each time I start a new page to test and make changes (since the problem, I have been scared to touch anything that WAS working).
Well, it seems that the "duplicated" folder was missing my "CSS" folder in every one!
That explains why, even though the fonts and all the settings in Edge showed everything as being correct - they were; all except the CSS page that loaded the fonts!!!
Again, I humbly apologize - I really do try and find the problem BEFORE posting here; this one just eluded me :-)

Crystal Reports Currency Symbol Problems

I have a report that displays a currency field. I have formatted this field to display a custom currency symbol ( 'R' in my case). The report runs fine on my machine but as soon as upload it to our server the currency sysmbol changes to '$'.
What am i doing wrong?

We have run on WMVare windows 7 sql server 2008, visula sd 2010 framework 4.0 crytal report viewer 13.7.
Until now it run on std server and our local it is not problem. But now we are run on WMVare it doesn't show true sysbol.

Currency Symbol Problem on Unix

I am having a problem with the Currency Symbol display on a Unix Environment. The java code was done on a NT environment and was displaying correctly with the "$" symbol preceding the number. However when I moved this to the unix environment, instead of the "$" symbol I now instead get "�" this symbol in its place. Below are some parts of the code to illustrate. I am new to java so I can't figure out why the currency symbol wont display. Any suggestions?

PDF convertion - hebrew font upload problem

I am trying to define hebrew support to pdf convertion according to note 569404 - but whenever i try to run the RSTXPDF2 report - instead of getting the browse window to choose from where i upload the fonts - the report directly goes to the end and has the error message - could not open file - i was'nt given the opportunity to choose one - on the DEvelopment and QA system i didn't have problems like that.
I found that whenever in the first time you enter the above report - rstxpdf2 and run it - it opens a custom sap browse window to browse the local station and to choose the appropriate file - but if press on the cancel button - the window goes to the end of the report with the message file could not be opened - and from now on this is the result when i try to run the report - i don't get again the custom sap browse window to browse the local station and to choose the appropriate file

Check your user own data ...delete own data at the before runing the report.

IGS COnverted BMP Image upload problem in SE78

HI Friends,
I Converted the JPEG image into BMP ormat by using IGS. It is converting properly. i am able to see the BMP image. When i am trying to upload it through the SE78 i am getting the short dump.
If convert it manually, i am able to upload the image. i did not get the any difference between these two including file size, width and height.
I attached the shortdump and converted image file as an attachment. Can anyone give me inputs where i am missing the target.

If i am converting the image from my desktop i am getting 96DPI resolution. Where as if i am doing it from IGS i am getting 30682172 DPI resolution.
I am using SAP 4.7. Is it the latest patch level or latest IGS supported.

.avi file converted to MPEG4 but problem

Yes I was able to add a .mov ext to it but the video is not showing up. It was created on a PC using Tony Hawk helmet cam. I would like to use these clips to make low quality video of my bike rides etc.
As I said, I get audio but the Quicktime video pane is blank (white screen). Are there any tricks to converting it to any Quicktime format that would make the video appear? I can tell it has large amounts of data as it should (28mb) for a 4 minute video. When I initially uploaded it from the network, I proceeded to open it and Quicktime pro notified me that I needed a plugin and directed me to the plugins and update page you find in the Quicktime preferences pane when you click the update tab. Any help would be great!

I finally rec'd QuickTime for the web and it's accompanying CD. I installed it in OS 9, restarted, and had the option of converting the .avi to multiple different formats including .mp4 and .mov. After registering it and activating it I converted the file to .mov then transferred it to my eMac and imported it to iMovie where I was able to adjust the sound track to be in sync with the video track.
Thank you so much for all your interest QTK and especially Dick. You guys pointed me in the right direction and really trouble shot this problem. It was not a cheap fix and I sorta wish this stuff just worked but I will read the book and derive as much as I can from it to utilise in QT and iMovie.
I forgot to mention that QT Pro 6 was a casualty of a crashed HD two summers ago. I had no record of the key. Apple recognized that I legitimately had a right to it but was unable to provide it because it had been phased out by the time I went to reinstall it. They provided at no charge a key for QT Pro 7 instead.
