Convert Trailer to Project on iMovie

How do you convert an iMovie trailer to a project on the iPad? I want to use photos instead of videos, but since the trailer doesn't allow photos I have to convert to a project. I'm fairly new to iMovie and the iPad, so any help or advice/tips is appreciated. :)
P.S. This is for a book trailer I have to make for a school project.

Anybody?  Would like to convert trailer to project using imovie on ipad2.  Can this be done?

  • How Do I Duplicate The Text After Converting Trailer To Project?

    Ok...
So I've gone as far as I can with the standard Trailer theme, then clicked Convert To Project.
Now what I'd like to do is "add" more text and cutaway sections to this trailer.
I can select the blue quote box with text in it, but I cannot seem to copy it.
How does one go about copying this? I'm keeping it within the same project file!
    Thanks!

  • Movie 11 can not copy everything and put it into a new project in imovie 9 it works fine

movie 11 can not copy everything and put it into a new project
in imovie 9 it works fine and there i cant copy 5 different project into new project
but in imovie 11 i only can copy project with option dubler project?

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • IMovie HD keeps crashing on opening project (previous imovie

Hi. I have a project I put a TON of time into, using iMovie 3.03. Then I put it on hold because I knew I'd be upgrading to iMovie HD. Well, low and behold, it isn't working. I open the project and it asks to upgrade it, which will make it 'unreadable' by previous imovie versions, and then it starts loading... then crashes. Every time. Also, I booted up iMovie 3.03 from an older disk, and it opens the project fine. Any ideas?

It sounds like you suggest using 5 for a movie started in 4, but backtrack if you have problems, is that right? Do I need to keep the old version of the movie as a separate name, too, in order to do that?
I don't necessarily recommend using iMovie 5 to finish projects started in iMovie 4, but it usually works. You can certainly try it. Everything will probably work fine. But ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make a backup of the iMovie 4 project first so you can finish it in iMovie 4 if you need to. Back up the entire project folder, not just the project file.
It's also good to do a Save As of the converted project after converting it to iMovie 5. That converts it from the hybrid iMovie 4/iMovie 5 folder structure to a true iMovie 5 project. That eliminates project features that can confuse users.
but am a little apprehensive since all my searches turned up people complaining, but I suppose that's who posts for the most part.
The number of complaints about iMovie HD is a fraction of what it was for earlier versions of iMovie. Keeping iMovie 4 around will help deal with any problems that occur.

  • Converting files to import into iMovie HD

I've been searching the forum but cant find anything that helps me...
    I have an mpeg (a .m2p file)
I've tried converting it into all sorts of things to import into iMovie, using the likes of "ffmpegx" and "mpeg streamclip".
    I've tried converting to mpeg4 mov files, mpeg4 mp4 files, H264, .DV.
Most of the time even quicktime will not play them, or in the case of the .DV files, not only is it massive (like 50 gig) but takes hours to import.
Basically I have a 2gig .m2p (mpeg2) file and want to convert it into something that iMovie will read without taking 6 hours.
I'm new to OS X, and video editing/converting in general... someone please point me in the right direction.

    .m2p file
Have you tried this with MPEG Streamclip (Notice that MPEG2 conversions require the $20 Apple MPEG-2 Playback Component):
"File/Export to DV.../Compression: DV (DV25)". Choose "Split DV stream in Segments" if the content is more than 9 minutes 27 seconds because iMovie 1-4 can't reliably handle longer clip files and it might be a good idea to limit the converted .dv file's size anyway (segmented clips play seamlessly in iMovie).
You can save the converted DV directly into iMovie project's Media folder to save time and HD space (iMovie prompts you what to do with the clip when the project is opened. Notice that iMovie HD 5 now stores its project folder as a package -- MPEG Streamclip can save straight into the package's /Media folder!)

  • Using a 4x3 iMovie '09 Project in iMovie 2013

I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to create a new iMovie 2013 project in anything else but widescreen <sigh>, and since I need a 4x3 project without black sidebars for display on a 4x3 projection screen, I thought I was smart to create the project in iMovie '09 where a standard definition aspect ratio is still a possibility.
Alas, I can not find a way to open this project with iMovie 2013.
Is there a way to either create a 'borderless' 4x3 iMovie 2013 project, or to import/convert and work with a 4x3 iMovie project from an earlier version, or am I forced to build the project from start to finish in iMovie '09?
Thanks in advance for any insight or suggestions.

No you are correct, iMovie 10 only does 16*9 aspect ratio.   You either have to continue using an earlier version of iMovie or buy Final Cut Pro 10.1.
You can send your movie from iMovie 10 to Final Cut Pro 10.1.

  • How do I convert old work done with iMovie HD 6 to view/work with iMovie 11 on my new iMac?

How do I convert old work done with iMovie HD 6 to view and work with in iMovie 11 on my new iMac?

If you still have your iMovie 6 project, you can import it using FILE/IMPORT/iMovieHD Project.
If all you have is the finished movie, you can FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.
If your movie is in DV Stream format, it is advisable to convert it to QuickTime MOV container containing DV codec. Otherwise, the import will be chronological by the date and time the clip was shot, rather than in edited order.

  • Sharing / Importing iMovie 8 project in iMovie 11

I've shared an iMovie 8 project file *.rcproject with a colleague.  It is a template we duplicate over and over where we just swap out the radio show audio track.  My colleague uses iMovie 11.
When she downloaded the *.rcproject file to her User/Movie/iMovie Projects folder it didn't show up as a project when she opened iMovie.  So, she tried to use the IMPORT feature ( file | import | import iMovie HD) but the file was greyed out.
Is there a way to share the actual project file from 8 to 11 w/out converting it to a movie?  The project has dozens of storyboard pieces, like graphics, background music, and text overlays we'd like the ability to move around and edit, as well as exit slides that we like to swap out from time to time.  So keeping it in its original project format will be essential to streamlining this transition from me to her.
    Thanks.

I swear I saw on this board a while back instructions on how to open an iMovie 8 project in iMovie 6.
iMovie '08 projects are stored as a "text" file describing how the physical movie would be created from the resource files and how effects are to be applied. iMovie HD, on the other hand, only imports physical media files. You can, of course, export your iMovie '08 project to your hard drive as DV or AIC and import that file to either iMovie HD or GarageBand for audio editing (or share it to the Media Browser for audio editing in GarageBand).

  • Effects causing problems finalizing/sharing project in iMovie '11

I created a project in iMovie and at the last minute everything went awry. On the advice of AppleCare I started over fresh. I now have a completed video that will not finalize. When I try to finalize it or share it through Media Browser I get a mesage saying:
"The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occured. (File already open with write permission)."
I have exhausted myself searching for answers about how to solve this issue and I have done the following:
    1. Trashed the .plist files
    2. Trashed all cache files
    3. Repair disk permissions
The project will share straight to iDVD. That's all I have. Maybe I don't need to care about having the project in HD...?

    Hi
    No Audio
Most common origin is use of audio from iTunes.
    Work around -
    • Select needed audio to one new playlist
    • Copy out this as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3)
    • Use this in the movie-project
    Other origins are
    1. strange / alient file formats as -
    • .mp3, .avi, .wmv etc
    • Convert them into .aiff 48kHz 16-bit and use this
    2. the Mac is set wrongly in regard of midi -
    • Close iMovie and other programs
    • Start GarageBand
    • Make a new GB-project and play some notes
    • Close GB and Save
    • Now try iMovie again
    3. No audio when playback in iMovie 1 to HD 6.
    a. in iMovie pref. - deselect ” Playback via Camera”
    b. in System preferences - see that Audio out is not set to zero. Mine often does this
    without me knowing why.
    4. iMovie’08 & 09 & 11
    • Toggle audio-scimming by cmd-K
    Stuttering audio and video
    1. FileVault is ON - Turn it off
    2. More than 50 audio files in a movie-project
Mix down to one audio clip
    3. Project is stored on one (USB) external hard disk - should be a FireWire one
    4. the External hard disk is not Mac OS Extended formatted - but
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange and this will not work for Video.
    5. To little free space on internal boot hard disk.
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space when project is imported and edited and this goes for
4x3 SD Video. For 16x9 HD my guess would be about 5 times more at least.
Neither Mac OS, iMovie or iDVD can address any other hard disk than the boot drive for it’s
scratch files. (Unlike Final Cut Express/Pro where You select scratch disk/s)
    6. Network storage - DOESN’T WORK

consider usage of a diff. editor.. iMovieHD6, you're entitled for a free downlaod at apple.com:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
but IF you're relaxed, opened your mind, follow the bright light, ommmm.. for Events & Stuff:
your intended workflow will add another step of quality-degradition (8mm>>avi>>mp4>>iM08) ..
consider the free tool Mpeg Streamclip www.squared5.com for 'chopping' that 90min beast into pieces..
rename these new chunks, follow advice given on my site:

When you move or copy the compound clips with their events into an external drive all the events should be there. Not clear on why you want to move them into a single event. You can drag and drop from one event to another.
Why are you using compound clips? You can simply copy the project from each machine with used media onto the external drive and that should do it.

  • I exited iMovie and lost my project.  I am able to find it in Finder, under the Movies tab, but can not get it back to a project in iMovie.  Is there a way to restore it?

Please help!  I exited iMovie and lost my project that I've been working on for days... I am able to find it in "Finder" under iMovie Projects... but I am unable to open it as a Project in iMovie.  I am using iMovie '11, with no time machine, and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

I fully sympathise with you, as I recently experienced the same issue (as have many others).
Projects always appear as normal in Finder in the Home folder Movies/iMovie Projects (or on an external disk at the top level in Movies/iMovie Projects). Nothing looks untoward there.
However, when iMovie is opened again after an editing session, the most recent project worked on does not appear in the listing of projects in iMovie's Project Library - although it is still listed in the Finder folder . This happens for no apparent reason - no unexpected quits, freezes, or crashes, and nothing else out of the ordinary. iMovie is simply not recognizing the project. It can't even be opened by double-clicking on the project in Finder.

Be sure to provide feedback to Apple - in iMovie's menu click on iMovie > Provide iMovie Feedback, then complete the online form.

  • Can I convert my VBA project to some sort of batch submitted executable

Thanks to the help from you all, I have written VBA macros that open huge word documents and pluck out specific information and put it into Excel.  The files I've received have grown in size from 1500 to 3500 pages.  I'm currently running the VBA
macros by opening the document in word and then clicking "View....Macros...mymacro....Run.  The macro then runs for any where from 10 minutes to 2 hours.
Is there a way I can convert my VBA project into some sort of executable so that I can "submit" the word file to the executable? Sometimes I run this on a term server.  I'd like to start the job, log off the term server, and then later
check for the resulting excel file.
Is there a way to queue up a list of input files for this?

    Hi Denis Backer,
    >>Can I convert my VBA project to some sort of batch submitted executable<<
Yes, it is possible. We can write an application to automate open the Word documents and run the macro using
Application.Run. Also we can convert all the VBA project with mange code, however the Office automation is not supported on the server enviroment.
Microsoft does not currently recommend, and does not support, Automation of
Microsoft Office applications from any unattended, non-interactive client
application or component (including ASP, ASP.NET, DCOM, and NT Services),
because Office may exhibit unstable behavior and/or deadlock when Office is run
    in this environment.
You can get  more detail about it from link below:
