I dont know anything about burning dvd's. I have a home made movie. dont know who made it. but its in a trp file? how do i convert it to make a dvd in idvd. i have no idea what to do with it. i only got this mac computer about 9 months ago and i made a few dvd's but they where in mpeg format already. i dont even know what trp is. any help? im trying to help out a student in making this dvd. thanks in advance......

regarding to my database a .trp file is an HDTV video file from some Korean videocard for PCs..
sounds to me a il' too exotic for Mac usage..
ANY import for iDVD should be 'dv-stream'/NTSC/PAL .. or AIC... but any HiDef gets automatically converted to SD resolution, since iDVD creates SD-dvd only ...

You can either share it directly to iDVD by choosing Share > iDVD or you can export it using your favorite preferred settings by choosing Export to Quicktime. With the former method, iDVD will open automatically, with the latter method, open iDVD and drag in your movie. With both: choose a theme for your menu (what people will see when the DVD first starts playing) - you should play around a little to learn how to use iDVD. In any case, when done, you can burn directly from iDVD.

It is no simpler converting vobs to mp4 than mpg (mpeg2).
There is *always* a loss of quality converting video from one lossy-compressed format to another, e.g. mpeg2 to mp4.
So, if you want to not lose any quality, then converting vobs to mpeg2 (mpg) is the thing to do (since there will be no video/audio re-compression), assuming Lr5 will accept them (sorry, but I do not know). example commands:
Mac: ffmpeg -i myvideo.vob -sameq myvideo.mpg
Win: ffmbc -i myvideo.vob -sameq myvideo.mpg
If Lr5 won't accept them, then you can convert to mp4 with minimal quality loss using a command like:
Mac: ffmpeg -i myvideo.vob -sameq myvideo.mp4
Win: ffmbc -i myvideo.vob -sameq myvideo.mp4
You may need variations of these commands depending on encoding of vob.
Note: -i means -input-file; -sameq means -same-quality, as much as possible.
ffm... is smart enough to avoid re-encoding, if possible, when -sameq is used, and makes reasonable choices for audio/video codecs based on extension of output file.
Of course, you'll need to download/install ffm... program if not already on your machine, and execute commands in a terminal or command window.

Converting .flv in MPEG Streamclip - video 'fuzzy'...

Hello - I converted my flv files in MPEG Streamclip, to DV; Qtime; AVI -- also downloaded Perian, so that I could use downloaded w/videos from YouTube, etc... I then imported them into Final Cut, however, I noticed the video quality isn't as good, and a bit pixilated/fuzzy. Is there a way to make the video more crisp/clear, when converting flv in MPEG Streamclip? Thanks!

For flash compression i would recommend you use On2 VP6 codec, instead of the sorrenson spark codec. As far as making them clearer, unfortunately you get what you put in. So taking a FLV which is a delivery format and converting it to a video format you are not going to get any better quality then the original clips.
For a conversion setting in mpeg streamclip, i recommend Apple DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, Quality 100%, Sound Uncompressed.

Hi all. I need some help here. I'm using Handbrake to convert my DVDs to files for my Apple TV 2. My problem is that Handbrake takes 3 hours or more for a 90 minute movie. Homie don't play that. I've got like 50 movies I want to convert, and using mpeg 4 is faster! My question is, what settings can I use so that I can convert to mpeg 4 and still be able to watch the file on my Apple TV 2? I have checked the settings on the Apple site, but I still can't figure out how to set my target data rate so I don't go over the allowed limit!

1) To access the MPEG-4/Simple@L1 video encoding profile, switch the Video Codec from the "H.264 (x264)" setting to the "MPEG-4 (FFmpeg)" setting.
2) To limit display dimensions to fit within the 640x480 (or 1200 macroblock) limitation, set the Anamorphic setting to "None" in the Picture Settings window.
3) To set the video data rate limit, select the "Average bitrate (kbps)" Quality option and enter a setting of "2500" Kbps or less.
Be advised that while MPEG-4 Part 2 encoding is much faster, the codec is less efficient than the H.264/x264 codecs and the quality of a MPEG-4, Simple@1 coded file is roughly equivalent to what you would get with an H.264 encoded file having a bit rate in the 1,000-1,250 Kbps range.

If indeed it is your email that is taking up a lot of space and removing it could enable you to make your back, then you can always move the email in the mail application on your desktop to a local folder. That would remove it from iCloud and not from your desktop computer.
