Convert wmv to ipod format

How can i convert *.wmv files to mpeg4? Is there a tool or Software available?

If you dont mind paying, you can try PQ DVD to iPod. Works awesome for full movies or specific chapters of a movie. It also takes in DivX, WMV and other formats. You can cut and crop as well. No video/sound sync issues either. Worth the money. I think its $35.

Sorry I wasn't looking at your question properly. You can use a programme called handbrake to convert a DVD folder or image. thats the only one i know of and here's google's first link on handbrake tutorial http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/macgems/2006/01/handbrakelite/index.php

  • How to convert rm to ipod format....

    thz in advance

Any Video Converter 2.5.2 is free and can convert RM to iPod format.
Just select the "Mobile Phone/Device" option when selecting the destination video format, set the audio option to AAC and manually change the video size to 320x240.
(The Professional version costs money and has an iPod format built in, but the above link is for the free version which does exactly the same if you set it like I explained above.)

  • NO AUDIO WHEN CONVERTING VIDEO TO IPOD FORMAT

This is really ******* me off. My .mov's are being converted via QTPro to mV4 with no audio. Why does this have to be so f*ing difficult? How can I extract the audio and re-sync it to the video? I have a powerbook and have finalcut and logic express.

There's no problem converting to an actual file that iPod plays, it just doesn't add the audio to the new file. I hear that you have to have the video and audio file with some .movs (possibly with old codecs??) before you convert them to ipod format. So, I have to extract the audio from the .mov (probably with final cut) and then import the video along with the audio back into final cut and then convert to the m4v.
I just don't know why this process is so difficult, there should be a program that extracts the audio with video to the correct format. I've tried every program and with final cut so far and none of them add the audio to the final video.

    Hello Justin,
Can't really speak for the software personally as I'm not all that interested in video on the move. All I can say is that there have been numerous posts on the iPod forum concerning difficulties with Videora. Whether that's a user problem or a software issue it's hard to say, it seems to have it's advocates and detractors as do most things. Good luck anyway and I'm glad the article was of some help.

  • Converting files to iPod format troubles.

When i go to convert my files into the iPod format, it starts exporting it but it always stops at either 8% or 9% Is anyone else having the same problem? I've reinstalled quicktime and it didnt help. Can someone help me with this please.

Hey. If you let it sit for a while, it'll go past 8 or 9%. But it goes very slow. Unfortunately, I havent had a single file to work yet. It's really making me upset. I've had some get all the way through and I can watch the video but there's no sound. Let me know if you get anywhere with this.

  • Freezing when converting MPG to iPod Format

I open a MPG in QT Pro, and it plays it fine, but when I export it to the iPod format it seems to work fine, then it freezes at 8% every time.
At the moment I'm converting it to a MPEG4, which seems to be working fine, if I can't get the iPod format conversion working, will an iPod play a MPEG4?

Too bad it froze but if it had not you would have found that QT will not export sound from an mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files anyway: QT Mpeg Limitations
Yes it will play mpeg4 format and that will export much faster than using the default H264 format.
You may want to take a look at this Apple iPod FAQ:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301461
You will need to convert the mpeg to another format so that you can have sound in it when you export. One workaround for mpeg-1 files is to use this Windows freeware to convert the mpeg-1 to uncompressed avi format. Just open the mpeg-1 in VDub and then go to the File menu and choose Save as Avi. The file will be converted to uncompressed avi sound and video, which QT has no problem reading. VirtualDub

  • Free software to convert videos to iPod format

Is there a free software inwhich you can convert videos to an iPod format? I have a .VOB file that needs converting and I can not figure out how. Is there a feature in iTunes that will help me with this? And if there is no free software, what is the best one to purchase, there is so many options!

    Try Videora Ipod converter.

  • Converting Movie to Ipod format thru Quicktime Pro

I purchase the QuicktimePro Registration key for Windows(XP), to convert movies(mp4) format to Ipod(30gb).
QuicktimePro DOES NOT convert mpeg-4 to Ipod format, m4v or mov? I know Quicktime pro is only a few dollars, but I spent for something that I did not enjoy. A very useless feature.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. thank you.

Hello Sujay, are you a Quicktime Tech support? sorry it was too late when I found out that I posted my issue in the wrong Forum, this is my first time, I apologize.
Sorry too, that I did not explain in full detail. Yes, I followed the xact instruction in the manual, followed one of the QT-Tech Support, he even gave me a supporting/reading materials related to my inquiry, I have 2 co-workers behind my shoulders who tried to help but no luck.
My OS is XP, Quicktime plays all my movies(mp4)format without a problem, but when it comes to exporting, (Movie to iPod 320X240)the exported movie is successful but still in mp4 format, instead of m4v I believe.
Did you have a successful conversion? Can you tell me where my missing piece is, please? Thank you with your full attention.

  • Problems converting video to iPod format

So I just finished setting up my new video iPod, new firmware, latest iTunes version, etc.
I subscribed to several new video podcasts and they were delivered as .mov files. So I right-clicked, selected "convert to iPod" and waited.
Everything went fine (mostly, one podcast kept telling me the file wasn't found, but I could play it in iTunes).
But when I tried to sync any and all of the videos to the iPod, iTunes told me that it was in an unsupported format!
Heck, I even ripped a movie to iPod format (the H.264 codec) with Instant Handbrake and iTunes doesn't like that. Or the video that I created from iPhoto.
Reading here, it sounds like the only option to fix this is to use iSquint or one of the other converters. That's a real whip, since it sorta kills the concept of "easy updating" that is a podcast.
Have we just written off the Apple functionality? Is there a way to make it work? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a problem with the iPod?
    Thanks!
    Jake

I can be of minimal help. Some Video Podcasts are downloaded ready for the iPod (example: NBC Nightly News) and some are meant to be watched on the computer (Example: MacBreak).
I personally use Quicktime Pro for converting movie files to the iPod. Quicktime Pro has an "Export for iPod" option that has, of course, worked flawlessly. The reason I say minimal help is that you'd have to purchase Quicktime Pro for $30 or whatever the cost is these days. Another advantage is that it'll play your videos fullscreen. Which isn't necessarily a good thing though depending on the video quality.
I personally haven't converted any non-iPod Video Podcasts but this is how would probably do it. Drag it out to your Desktop; open it in Quicktime; Export for iPod and save to your Desktop; Drag the new iPod friendly Video back into iTunes. Could be a better way but that'd work and be my first attempt.

  • Convert WMV to DVD Format

I have some discs that were burned in wmv format. I would like to convert them so that they will play in home DVD recorders. What formats play in most DVD players? What third party utility would you recommend (using MacBook Pro)?

If any of you out there know of a wmv to mov program that works great without having to first convert to mpg which seems to make the quality of the movie horrible .. well not movie .. they are just clips .. and actually ever since my QuickTime Pro 7.6 started .. it is not image sequencing ... I have uninstalled and went back a couple of versions .. did not help ..now I am back to the latest version again ... anyway ... this flip for mac ... they should have something that works in windows

  • What do you use to convert videos into ipod format?

    Please help me

I would suggest that you use a third-party program to do this.
MPEG Streamclip is free program that works good and can convert vodeos to a compatible format for your iPod (either .m4v, .mov, or .mp4).

  • Converted videos to iPod format--NO SOUND???

Hi, I just used iTunes to convert three Quick Time videos of mine to work with my iPod. One of them wouldn't convert because it "does not allow for saving or conversion". The other two came out as MPEG-4 files and when played they had no sound. They transfered to the iPod, but didn't have any sound there either. What can I do to preserve the sound when I convert them?
    Thanks for your help.

we had better check to see if it's all videos that aren't converting with sound (when you do the conversion), or just the specific ones you've been converting. this document should be of some help with that:
