Convert zvr to wav/mp3/ogg

hi!
i have a digital voice recorder which records to *.zvr-files. i installed gstreamer0.10-plugins to have all plugins available, but it doesn't seem that any gstreamer-plugin can handle this files.
is there a way to convert *.zvr files to wav, mp3, ogg or to another common audio-format?
i already tried the windows-software delivered with the voice recorder. the software works, it plays the zvr-files. but if i use it's function to convert zvr to wav it just creates a *.wav file of 480 bytes which doesn't work.
there's another conerter for windows: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ZVR_Converter.htm
it produces the same useless, tiny *.wav files like the voice-recorder-software.
any ideas?
btw: it's a (philips voice tracer 7655)

There's several apps to convert WMA files, you might want to take a look at Switch.

    Hi Heeli.
To convert CD Audio to WAV/MP3 search 'cd audio ripper' in
Google. First one that came up when I searched now is
Audiograbber which I've used and is quite good.
You can also sear WAV to MP3 to convert. Since Director is
now part of Adobe, I'll mention Adobe Audition (Windows Only)
which can do this. It's a powerful audio editing program that
can work with WAVs and MP3s. It's much more than just a
    converter.
If you have WAV files, you may try convert them to SWA in
Director. Xtras menu - Convert WAV to SWA (Windows only).

You should be able to use iTunes to convert your music to a different file format.
*To convert a song's file format:
Choose iTunes > Preferences, then click the Advanced button at the top of the window and click Importing.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then choose Advanced > Convert Selection to MP3, Convert Selection to AAC, Convert Selection to Apple Lossless, Convert Selection to AIFF, or Convert Selection to WAV. (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences.)
To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key and choose Advanced > "Convert Selection to," then choose the folder or disk containing the songs you want to convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted except songs you purchased from the iTunes Store. (Purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted.)

  • Converting iTunes (m4a) to mp3 or wav

I have a fairly extensive iTunes library which I sync with my iPod Nano 2. My daughter has just been given an mp3 player for her birthday and I'm trying to find a simple way of exporting & converting tracks for her to either mp3 or WAV format without losing my m4a. Any ideas short of burning original to CD then re-importing under her account (where import of CD's is set to mp3)?
I have managed to open an iTunes track as m4a within Quicktime and save as a wav file, but the file size went from 2.6 MB to 11.7 MB - not very practical.
    Cheers, Andy

If the file is an .m4p then it is DRM protected and you can only burn is as an audio CD - you can figure out the rest.
If the file is a .m4a - no DRM - then you should be able to convert it to an mp3 within iTunes. Change your iTunes import options prefs.

  • How to convert AMR files into MP3 or WAV?

    Hello,
I'm not sure if that's the right place to ask, but I couldn't find any more suitable one, so...
Can anyone recommend a nice convenient application to convert my phone's recordings from AMR format to MP3 or WAV - eg. something I can conveniently listen to on my PC?
    Thanks in advance!

Many of my friends recommend iDealshare VideoGo to convert AMR files to MP3 or WAV.
Today i just have a try, and find it really works great in converting AMR to MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, AIFF etc with high audio quality.
what i like prefer is its drag and drop fuction and batch conversion fuction.
Here is the step by step guide at How to Convert AMR to MP3, WAV?
Hope it also helps for you.

Since I updated my itunes I can no longer burn a playlist to disc using MP3 format.  I clicked on converting the songs to mp3 format but they still won't burn to disc.  The computer says it is checking media and then stops.

same problem. Im using itunes version 10.6.3, I converted wavs burnt from cd, to mp3 using itunes, these were  NOT PURCHASED from itunes, and when I try to burn an mp3 cd using the new mp3 files, they convert to wavs before my eyes every time i create a new playlist of the mp3. The mp3 revert to wav within less than 30 seconds. As if itunes is saying, let me help, I substitute the higher quality 1411 wav files for you. And of course, now they wont burn to mp3, because "they must be converted to mp3 first" before burning.
But every list of the mp3 version of the files keeps reverting to 1411 wav files?

How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds it will only give me the option to choose wav?

Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav  serving your purpose of changing system sound.

Amazon songs have never had DRM.  The iTunes Store sold DRM-encumbered tracks until mid-2009.  The iTunes Store now only sells songs in non-DRM "iTunes Plus" format, although new DRM tracks still show up occasionally in free playlists and in podcasts.
The old DRM-encumbered tracks cannot be converted to MP3.  You can upgrade them to iTunes Plus for 30 cents apiece (USA prices) or you can use iTunes to burn them to an audio CD, which can be used like any other audio CD.

  • Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file" error in Captivate 4

    Good afternoon.
I have exported and edited the audio from a Captivate presentation in Soundbooth. After editing, I save the file as a .WAV. When I import the file to the slide, I recieve the error message listed above.
I have followed other threads in the forum and performed the following:
    XP Pro (32 Bit - SP3)
    E-Learning Suite
    Captivate 4
    Soundbooth CS4
    Downloaded and installed new NSAudio.dll
    Successfully registered NSAudio.dll
Have successfully ran the restoreCP4regentries.bat and the restoreRegPermCP4.bat
    Rebooted the computer
Ran the program as an adminstrator (although it asked me to re-register the product -a little strange)
I still recieve the error when I try to import the WAV files. If I convert the files to MP3, they can be imported. At this time I'd prefer to not import them as MP3.
WAV format is uncompressed, 44, 32 floating bit (I also unsuccessfully tried other bits).
I've lost an entire afternoon of productivity to this.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this? It appears I have followed all the recommendations I have seen so far.

    Hi there
I believe Captivate is a bit persnickety about the WAV format. You will likely need to adjust some setting with the WAV output. You might begin by trying the following and see if it resolves.
Begin with a backup copy of the audio clip
    Open basic Windows Sound Recorder
Open the WAV file with the issues in Sound Recorder
    Click File > Save As
Click the Change... button - make no changes and click OK (this should change to PCM format)
Try importing the WAV file after that and see what happens.
Personally, I'd be using the MP3 myself. Not sure why you are against it. After all, that's what will end up in your compiled result.

  • Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file

I am trying to import mp3's into a Captivate 3 presentation
but keep getting this error "Unable to decode and import the
selected wav/mp3 file." I am using the same mp3 files that I have
used many times with projects in Cap1 and Cap2. I have converted
the files to wav's and tried but I'm still getting the same
message. I have a deadline and I'm stumped.
    Any ideas?

    Hi DianaUNC
Interesting. I've seen it happen with WAV files but not MP3.
Do you still have Captivate 2 around? If so, do these successfully
import into Captivate 2? One thought was that you might pop them
into something like Audacity and save them out again. Perhaps
something is amiss with the encoding used.
Or you might try the trick of opening them in Windows Sound
Recorder and saving them out of that in a different format. I know
that works with one particular WAV file I have.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Bug On Converting AIF files to mp3 on iTunes 8

    Is this a bug?
I compose and produce movie scores and iTunes is an easy way to convert AIF masters to mp3 files to mail people . Is just me.... or is there a bug in the latest version what iTunes 8 just re- named - "create mp3 version" causes an UNKNOWN ERROR (-50)
I have to say whilst I'm here visiting this forum - as a professional iTunes customer / user that has many of my own albums on iTunes ......... their recent "authorisation" updates (eg. burning an mp3 from an album etc) have become a pain in the whatsit-!!
Also moving iTunes around from computer to computer whilst working on projects ...... it used to be possible in a worst case scenario - to burn an audio CD from iTunes tracks as a way of copying stuff onto other computers .... now that is impossible.
The lovely APPLE CORP have become both a professional's best friend but also worst enemy. I'd love to report that iTunes has made me rich but the insulting per centage of money handed back to composer/artist/producers does nothing but add to Apple's billion dollar empire-!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A RELIABLE APPLICATION THAT CREATES MP3's FROM WAV OR AIF SOUND FILES ....... I find audacity has some sound quality issues. <Edited by Moderator>
    Best wishes to all

If you have a need to work on multiple computers then it seems sensible to use an external drive. Just put the Library data file, .xml file and the album artwork folder on the external drive.
Create a folder named iTunes on the ext HD and nest everything just as if it were on your internal.
Of course you have selected your import settings in iTunes prefs>General>Import Settings to .mp3.
In iTunes v8.0 they have moved some of the settings panels around.

  • ITUnes converted all the wav files on my computer to m4a. How do I recover them?

iTunes took it upon itself to convert all of the .wav music files on my computer to .m4a, a much lower-quality format. How can I get the .wav files back?

    Hi someonefromminnesota,
Depending on how the tracks were imported/converted, the original .wav files may still be located in their original location, and an .m4a copy may have been added to the iTunes Library. You may find the following article helpful:

  • How can i convert my iTunes to MP3 ?

Hi, i am sure this question must have been asked before, i have just downloaded a couple of Albums from the iTunes Store, to move these Album tracks away from my lap top, i have to put the tracks in a playlist, i am ok with that.
Then when i put the albums on CD's i can play them at home on the HiFi, so i am currently Burning an Audio CD.
It has now answered my original Question !!!!, it is so infuriating, why did i have to find out the hard way ?, it is now Importing the Audio CD back into iTunes and converting the tracks to MP3 !!!
So why does it make it so difficult to convert tracks to MP3 ?
Now it has finished converting the Audio tracks to MP3 files and it lumped them all together in the same Music Folder as the originals !!!!, how do i know which is which ?.
The only reason i wanted them in MP3 format in the first place is so i could put them on a Memory Stick ! so i can play them from the Car Radio in the car.
Does that any of that make any sense to anybody ?
How do i now get them onto a memory stick ?
    tim

I'm not sure I completely follow what it is you are trying to do, but it strikes me you're making it more complicated than need be.
iTunes imports files in the format set in your preferences.  If you want to import as other than mp3 then set the other format in your preferences.
iTunes is also set by default to put a copy of tracks you add into your iTunes folder.  You can unset this in preferences (I have this unset) but most people don't because it kind of messes up file management.  You can also temporarily disable it for files you are dragging to iTunes by holding the option key.  If you use iTunes for converting it will add them to iTunes - that's the way it behaves. I often use non-iTunes applications such as Max or XLD for doing my conversions (you also get to use the LAME codec for mp3 which some consider better than iTunes).
You can add a column to your lists display which is format, or just go by the file size or bit rate display columns.  While not definitive, I can usually depend upon files saying 128k bitrate or 3 MB in size to be mp3 (I have almost no AAC tracks) vs. AIFFwhich would have much higher bitrate and much bigger files.
If you have mp3 files and want to put them on a flash drive, highlight the items you want to add (it could be a whole playlist) and drag this from the iTunes window to the flash drive in a Finder window.

  • How can I get iTunes to convert my songs to MP3's again and not this AAC version. I need them in MP3's for my spicing software.

I use a spicing program that does not support iTunes.  I need to be able to convert my songs to MP3's.  I was able to do that from my old laptop but now that I have a new one and everything is converted to the new one I noticed that the MP3 is not on there it is now AAC.  Does anyone know how to convert to MP3's now?  I am in the same version of iTunes but it is not the same.  ODD and FUSTRATING!!

Change the default encoder to MP3. iTunes will then give you the option to convert any unprotected file in your library to MP3; this won't work with very old iTunes Store purchases.
