    I am on a trial version of  InDesign in Creative Cloud and before I purchase need to know why and the files cannot be opened by others using CS6.  Isn't Cloud compatible with CS6 design software?

    Industry standard files such as JPEG are compatible with many brands/versions of programs
    Proprietary files such as those created by InDesign are often not backwards compatible, due to new features in newer program versions
    This is not unique to Adobe... MS Word DOCX files are not backwards compatible with earlier versions of MS Word

  • Convert file format into UTF-8 while generating text file on FTP server

    Hi Expert,
    I have the requirement to generate text file store it in FTP server and file format should be in UTF-8.
    ABAP Development is completed but text file format generate in ANSI which not acceptable by client.For generating text file and store it on FTP server by using standard function module FTP_R3_TO_SERVER ,but in this function module there is no any parameter option like CODEPAGE for file format conversion. Is there any method or any function module to convert file format to UTF-8 and directly transfer or store it on FTP server.

    I have come across the same issue.  Try calling the FTP_COMMAND function module to make it go into ASCII mode before your FTP the file, like this:
    data: result type table of text with header line.
    call function 'FTP_COMMAND'
        exporting
          handle        = hdl
          command       = 'ascii'
        tables
          data          = result
        exceptions
          tcpip_error   = 1
          command_error = 2
          data_error    = 3.
      call function 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER'
        exporting
          handle         = hdl
          fname          = docid
          character_mode = 'X'
        tables
          text           = gt_your_table .

  • CS5 - trying to load a new style .asl file - keep getting "error, because no parser or file format can open the file."  what gives?

    trying to load a new style for a project.  CS5 PSD.  the .asl file when dragged into the doc, gives the the following "error, because no parser or file format can open the file."  what gives?

    .asl files are layer styles
    You can go to Window>Styles and then load the styles from the styles panel fly-out menu

    I am having issues with Sidebar files not appearing from within InDesign CS5.5. They show up fine from other Adobe applications. Using OS10.6.8.

    I would first of all trash the preference file for InDesign, make sure the application is closed then find the prefs in
    /Users/USER NAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign and just throw the entire folder away, it will generate a new one after you launch InDesign again.
    Now launch InDesign and see if the problems are resolved.
    If not I would repair your permissions on your hard drive wih disk utility, and if that fails then di-install InDesign and re-install that single application.
    Let me know if any of these suggestions work for you
    I will be checking my email although you might have to wait for a response as I will be taking a microlight flight over the Victoria Falls tomorrow. Yay can hardly wait.

  • Server allows overwriting files that are open by other users.

    We're having a problem with Snow Leopard Server not warning a user when they attempt to overwrite a file that is open by another user.
    Running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 on an Xserve with an Xserve RAID. Have about 25-30 Mac clients, running 10.6.8 or 10.7.3. Users running Adobe CS5.5
    Here's the scenario:
    User edits a file in InDesign, then saves a PDF of that file to the server. The user's supervisor reviews the file, and perhaps adds comments to it, but not necessarily.
    The user edits the ID file again, and saves a new PDF over the old one. When we were running Server 10.4.x, the user would have been warned that the PDF file was open by another user, and would have been prevented from saving. Under SL Server, no warning takes place, and the file is overwritten.
    At this point, a couple of things can happen.
    1: The new file is written, and the changes can be seen by the user. The supervisor's computer does not see the new version of the file. Quicklook and opening the file into Acrobat 10 will still show the old file. Disconnecting and reconnecting fixes this.
    2: The new file is written, but it is corrupted, and not openable by either party. If neither one opens the file right away, this could go unnoticed.
    I've tested this scenario between two Lion machines, and the "file-open" warning occurs like it should.
    Is there a setting in SL Server that I need to look at, or is this a bug?
    Our short-term fix is to have the user always save to a new filename. This can work, but it's cumbersome.

  • Converting file format in Premier Pro

    I am using Premier Pro CS5.5. I want to know if I can import a .mts file and use Premier to convert it, or save the file as, a .mov, .wmv, .mp4 or other video file format?

    Actually to clarify, I am not very familiar with Premier Pro CS5.5; it is just one application that is part of our enterprise load that I thought might allow me to perform the this type of file conversion. So I really just need to know if file conversion from .mts to another format is a capability the Premier pro has.

    HELP HELP>

    I have an imac11...using the os right prior to mav...I don't want to install that yet.
    The last MacOS X before Mavericks would be  Mt. Lion, MacOS X 10.8.5. Is that, what you are using? You can see that, if you click the -menu if the upper left corner of your screen, and select "About this Mac".
    The latest GarageBand compatible with Mt. Lion is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5. You can see that in the GarageBand menu, GarageBAnd > About GarageBand.
    Where are you saving your projects? On an external drive? How is the drive formatted (file system, and how is the drive connected?

  • I'm trying to install a layer style (.asl) in photoshop cc 2014 and I get the error message 'Could not place the document 'filename.asl' because no parser or file format can open the file.' Any suggestions?

    I get the same error when trying the same thing with the default styles, so it's not the file.

    So, if you click on one on of the layer style sets already on the list, such as Text Effects 2, you get the same message?
    Which version of mac os x are you using?
    Did you upgrade your mac os with photoshop cc 2014 already installed?
    Do you have the lastest version of photoshop cc 2014, which should be 2014.2.1
    (listed at the top of Help>System Info from within photoshop)
    Do you see the same layer styles as shown above on your list?
    Have you moved/copied any plugins from an earlier version of photoshop to the photoshop cc 2014 plugins folder?
    The layer styles shown on the list above are the styles that ship with cc 2014 and should be in
    /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC 2014/Presets/Styles
    (the mac applications folder where all the other mac applications are installed)
    You might try resetting the preferences, but you might need to uninstall photoshop cc 2014 and then reinstall.
    (don't drag the cc 2014 to the trash, but use the Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 in the photoshop cc 2014 application folder)
    To reset the preferences
    Press and hold down the Shift+Command+Option keys while starting photoshop cc 2014
    Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop settings file
    Press Yes

  • Photoshop CS4 Crashes When Opening Image - Other Adobe Programs Work

    I'm at the end of my rope here.
    The problem is (that has spontaneously occurred) is that Photoshop CS4 opens fine.  I go to Open, select image, it loads it on screen for a few seconds ,and then I get this Photoshop  has stop working and it closes out - no error codes or explanations.
    I have updated.
    I have reinstalled with a clean it all up program beforehand.
    The Open GL drawing is disabled.
    I have reset preferences.
    Other Adobe programs (e.g., Premiere Pro) work fine.
    Nothing particularly new or special done to computer except that I changed from AVG Antivirus to Microsoft Security Essentials.
    Windows is updated (I'm Vista - 32bit).
    Is the problem my driver (a NVDIA GeForce 6150 nforce 430)?  It's updated to the current version, do I need to find the download for an older version and go back in time?
    I have only 2GM in RAM (there's plenty of room on the hard drive btw), but I can't spend more money on this 3 yr + computer.  Do I need to set my RAM preferences differently?
    And I've not had this problem before, it's always worked.
    To prevent me from losing my mind any further, any help would be appreciated.

    If OpenGL drawing is disabled, then the video driver isn't too likely.  Most of the problems in drivers show up with OpenGL drawing enabled.
    But printer drivers and fonts can sometimes cause issues.
    And there's always a chance that the video driver is failing at something simple (like drawing a menu or cursor).

  • Acrobat 8 Pro will not open without other Adobe Suite program running

    I am running Acrobat Pro 8 on a new Mac (OS X 10.5.4) and it used to work just fine without CS3 installed. Now, all of a sudden (without me changing anything) it refuses to open a pdf saying that another Adobe Suite program must be open for acrobat to run. Don't have any other programs installed to open, really annoying because I want to read pdfs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This is odd. Normally you get that message if, and only if, Creative
    Suite is installed. In the case where Creative Suite is installed, you
    have to run some other CS application, once, to get the licensing
    done.
    Maybe someone installed a demo of CS3, something like that. Check for
    other Creative Suite applications, even if they weren't expected.

  • E-edition freezes up with 1A.pdf The max. number of files are already open no other files can be opened or printed until some are closed , showing four of five and computer froze any I must close by shutting down manually.

    My online E-Edition newspaper will freeze up after loading the front page and gives me the message that the max. number of files are already open and no other files can be printed or opened until some are closed. 1A.pdf. When you click ok it repeats itself and you have to force shutdown by holding off button. I'm totally stumped.

    I have read that "1000" is default maximum for Acrobat 4 or Acrobat 5 (I don't remmember it exactly anymore). Concerning my PC and RAM. I have a high-end graphical computer at my office; so I'm sure the RAM memory is not the reason.
    Anyway, thanks for answer.

  • How do you force a file to be opened by a particular application?

    I have come across a brick wall - I have either missed something important, or maybe it is just something in Applescript not working as it should.
    In our school, we have both Preview and Adobe Reader installed on the student computers, which are being managed with Workgroup Manager. There is a particular PDF file which is opened through an Applescript which gives a list of files to choose from (the easiest solution for the situation, which does involve a few variables). Sometimes the file opens in Preview instead of in Adobe Reader. The PDF contains sounds, which Preview doesn't handle, hence the need to open it in Adobe Reader. Rather than going round to many dozens of computers and setting the "open with" info on each computer individually, I thought I would try an Applescript solution. In the example below I have moved the file to the desktop to minimize clutter, but the behavior is the same regardless of where the file is (with the appropriate pathway for its location, of course).
    This first script works with no problems, except that it may default to Preview instead of Reader, depending on the setup on the individual computer.
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
    select item "SampleFileName.pdf" of desktop
    open selection
    end tell
    When I consulted the library for Finder, I changed it to the following version which, as far as I can tell, has the correct syntax, etc. However, it comes up with the error message - "Finder got an error: Handler can't handle objects of this class"
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
    select item "SampleFileName.pdf" of desktop
    open selection using application "Adobe Reader 7.0.8"
    end tell
    I have tried the same thing with a generic text file (file name ending in .txt) hoping to use Microsoft Word or Excel, and also using 'open "SampleFileName.pdf" ' directly rather than selecting it first, but I still get the same error message.
    Does anyone know what is going on and hopefully know how to fix or work around the problem?

    Thank you, Niel.
    I tried the script with the file in its final location (to test it out under the actual conditions, as sometimes things on the desktop seem to need different treatment - but that's for another post). It worked like a charm!
    I had tried viewing Adobe Reader's dictionary, but it is not scriptable. Your suggestion got around that limitation.
    The final script, as per your info, is:
    tell application "Adobe Reader 7.0.8"
    open file "Users:SampleFile.pdf"
    end tell
