Adobe Reader does not convert to PDF. What software do you use for that?

  • Why a docx converted from a PDF file did not convert 1+ page from the source file?

    In trying to work with data from several PDF files, I subscribed to Adobes's online facility to convert source.pdf to output.docx. Output.docx is missing more than a page of data I need. I don't understand why this is happening.
    I tried then to convert source.pdf to output.xls and the data in output.xls was repeating itself, for example:. This date value  04/22 was converted to:
    04/2204/2204/2204/2204/22
    Could any one here help me with these issues?

    Hi rivalg,
    Do you know how that PDF was created? The quality of the conversion depends largely on the quality of the PDF. It sounds as though you may be experiencing some font-related issues. As a test, you can try converting the file from within Adobe Reader with OCR disabled, as described here: How to disable Optical Character Recognition
    Note, however, if the PDF was created from a scanned document, and doesn't contain selectable text, you won't be able to select that text in the converted Word document. (OCR converts scanned/image text to selectable/editiable text). Nonetheless, it's a good test.
    As for the .xls output, it sounds as though the PDF isn't tagged to show the various cells in the table. Again, it depends on what created the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equally, alas.
    Please try converting with OCR disabled, and see how that goes. If we need to, we can take it from there.
    Best,

  • The bullet list, numbered list and the normal text is not converting when I am converting from RH 9 to MS Word 2010

    Hi all,
    Greetings for the day
    I am created a new CSS in Robohelp 9. I have also created a new template in Word 2010. The style sets for different information elements like (Heading, bullets, body text, ) are more or less same between the CSS and the new templates. I am also able to map the .css styles to Word template when I am converting from RH to Word as I am getting the necessary option in the drop-down list.
    However, when the output is generated, the bullet, the numbered list and the body text is not converting at all. The body text works sometimes. However, the numbered list and bullet list is coming out as images.
    If anybody knows the solution, I can share the .css and Word template.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Create a new project with two or three topics containing lists of both types. Generate a printed output that shows the problem. Then zip it up and send it to me. See the Contact page on my site for instructions.

  • "Convert Text to Table" Size limit issue?

    Alphabetize a List
    I’ve been using this well known work around for years.
    Select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table
    Select one of the column’s cells (1st click selects entire table, 2nd click selects individual cell)
    Open “Table Inspector” (Click Table icon at top of Pages document)
    Make sure “table” button is selected, not “format” button
    Choose Sort Ascending from the Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu
    Finally, click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
    A few days ago I added items & my list was 999 items long, ~22 pages.
    Tonight, I added 4 more items. Still the same # pages but now 1,003 items long.
    Unable to Convert Text to Table! Tried for 45 minutes. I think there is a list length limit, perhaps 999 items?
    I tried closing the document w/o any changes. Re-opening Pages & re-adding my new items to the end of the list as always & once again when I highlight list & Format>Table>Convert Text to Table .....nothing happens! I could highlight part of the list up to 999 items & leave the 4 new items unhighlighted & it works. I pasted the list into a new doc and copied a few items from the middle of the list & added them to the end of my new 999 list to make it 1003 items long (but different items) & did NOT work. I even attempted to add a single new item making the list an even 1000 items long & nope, not working. Even restarted iMac, no luck.
    I can get it to work with 999 or fewer items easily as always but no way when I add even a single new item.
    Anyone else have this problem?  It s/b easy to test out. If you have a list of say, 100 items, just copy & repeatedly paste into a new document multiple times to get over 1,000 & see if you can select all & then convert it from text to table.
    Thanks!
    Pages 08 v 3.03
    OS 10.6.8

    G,
    Yes, Pages has a table size limit, as you have discovered. Numbers has a much greater capacity for table length, so if you do your sort in Numbers you won't have any practical limitation.
    A better approach than switching to Numbers for the sort would be to download, install and activate Devon Wordservice. Then you could sort your list without converting it to a table.

  • MailAPI SMTP sending error: 'Could not convert socket to TLS'

    I'm stucked with smtp authentication in a project.
    The process works on port 25 with no STARTTLS, but unfortunately our company server uses port 587 and STARTTLS.
    It seems that only the half of the authentication process could be successful, as the server accepts EHLO, but when it switches to secure the program fails with the exception:
    'Could not convert socket to TLS'
    The simplified code (from a sample app) is:
    public void SendMail() throws Exception{
            Properties props = new Properties();
            props.setProperty("mail.transport.protocol", "smtp");
            props.setProperty("mail.smtp.host", "smtpserver");

            props.setProperty("mail.smtp.starttls.required", "true");
            props.setProperty("mail.smtp.auth.mechanisms", "LOGIN NTLM");
            Session mailSession = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);

  • In converting a pdf file to xlxs it did not convert the first 48 lines.

    When I converted a pdf file that I originally created in Excel, it did not convert the first 48 rows of info.

    Good day Hudda,
    I've seen this behavior a few times over the last few months.  You could try disabling the 'Recognize text' function, but it may not help.  We're anticipating an update to the ExportPDF service within the next few weeks that should help with issues like this, but I don't have an immediate solution for you.
    Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • BI 7.0,  BDLS is not converting all logical systems for datasources

    Hello all,
    We have refreshed an ECC system, and during the post steps in BI, we were running into issues.
    We've ran BDLS to convert the logical system from ECCCLNTXXX to ECCCLNTYYY, but it's was not converting for several datasources.
    One in particular was causing several problems, and terminating the conversion.
    0FC_CI_01.  It is still hanging on to the old logical system.  BDLS terminates with the following information:
    Short text:
    Active version of emulated 3.x DataSource 0FC_CI_01 cannot...
    Basically, the exact symptom of Note 936644.
    Eventually, through a series of trials, we discovered we could assign non-active sourcesystem/logical system combinations to the objects.  As a result, we deleted the source systems entirely, ran BDLS to the ECCCLNTYYY, then recreated the sources.
    This finally worked.  What I need now is a root cause.  Why would BI refuse to change the logical system of an object to an active one, but have no problem with an inactive?

    Mike,
    After running BDLS, you need to replicate the source system in BW, change the contents of the target host and fields for all R/3 and Data Mart(note 184754). Update the target BW system name in table T000 using SM30. Change logical system name in all BW tables using BDLS (note 325525)
    Refer to the below doc for detail. Also refer to note 886102.
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/805eefcd-5428-2d10-c0ab-dc27a95b2c81?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
    Below note talks about similar issue.
    How to change all infosources to the new source system automatically
    Hope this helps.

  • Acrobat Pro 10.1.2, unable to convert text to outlines

    Hello,
    Since updating to Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.7.2, I am unable to use the flattner preview to convert text to outlines. The dialog box appears, and there are no error messages, but upon comleting the same steps I've been using for years (including last week), text is not converted to outlines. It just isn't working. There is no feedback, or error message. I have tried restarting the computer and that did not help. I will try deleting the preferences. Anyone else have this problem, or have a fix for it?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Thank you for the suggestion, but unfortunately that did not solve my problem.
    I use the flatner preview to covert text to outlines so that I can edit PDF files when I do not have the original fonts - and so that I don't have to use replacement fonts. Editing the text isn't necessary in this case so converting the text to curves is not a problem.
    Unfortunately, I am still without a solution. I really don't want to rasterize the file (convert to bitmap) because I would like to keep it in a vector format for editing in Illustrator.

  • MSWord Active X txt box not converting to txt box in Acrobat forms?

    I'm using MSWord 2007 and Acrobat 9 Pro.  Trying to take a form that I have created in MS Word with text input boxes that have been added via the Active X developer tool and convert them to forms in Acrobat.  I print to PDF and then start the forms wizard but it will not find the text boxes.  It will recognize the simple check box from the legacy forms but not he text input boxes.  Any words of wisdom?

    Yes, the text box has a border and that border shows up clearly in the pdf.  I am having to go back in the pdf, retrace the text boxes with the add text a new text field from the Add New Field option. It just does not make sense why the PDF would not recognize the text input fields from Word and convert over the field names also.  All the info is there - that's why I'm wondering if it a setting that I have on my computer when I print the PDF.

  • Adapter Module to convert text message to XML

    Hello Experts,
    I am writing a custom adapter module to convert the text  content to XML message at the sender adapter end.
    I have followed the steps mentioned in the "HowToCreateModulesforJ2EEAdapterEngine" guide available on SDN.
    I have created the java logic in the process mesthod of the bean to conver the text message to XML paylod (don't know if it is correct). I do not have much idea about the Adpater API methods.
    Can anybody help me with the logic to convert the text msg to xml paylod using adapter frame work APIs or is there any way I can debug and test my logic in NWDS.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    - Rajan

    Hi ,
    To convert Text message to XML why yiu want to go for Adapter Module?? Using file content conversion it self you can do it right?????
    There is no standard logic to convert text file to XML, the logic purely depends on your text message format.

  • I am converting a PDF to a Word Doc and it is not converting our logo or any handwritten notes to the new document

    I am trying to convert a PDF to a Word Document.  I have only recently started using this item so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  When the PDF document is converted to the Word doc it is not converting any symbols, logos or handwritten items.  For example I have a sign letter of intent with a signature that I am trying to convert from a PDF to a word document and the signature does not appear on the word doc.

    Hi judyf73891847,
    I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm not surprised that ExportPDF is having a hard time converting handwriting. One option is to disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Then, ExportPDF won't try to convert those elements into editable text. The only drawback to that is that you won't be able to edit those items when you open the converted document in Word.

    I have tried using both "file->print" and "adobe PDF-> convert to Adobe PDF"
    I have found that as long as the hyperlink is not in an "object", it will convert to pdf, but any link that is in a text box, or embedded body like a visio drawing tree or MS office org chart, it will not convert to PDF hyperlink.
    Also, I have found that a hyperlink in a table or copied cells from excel will convert, but It is too much work to make a org chart from scratch.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jarrod
