Converted video in iTunes but it won't sync to iPad

Usually, I convert videos for my iPad or iPhone using Toast and it works fine. Today, I had an mp4 video and I just dropped it into iTunes where it will play there just fine. However, it will not sync to my iPad. So, I went into the iTunes Advanced menu and had iTunes convert it for the iPad. Even that video will not sync to my iPad. I don't get it. I just converted it with Toast and now it will go on my iPad thru iTunes. I don't get why it doesn't work when iTunes converts it.

Video is a pretty complicated subject. I take it this video wasn't from your normal source so who knows what combination of audio and video codecs were made to produce the thing. I also don't know how iTunes processes video. Some converters can just pass through components and not really re-code them, and maybe iTunes did that to something that to something that really needed re-coding. Maybe you'll find tips at:

I was refering to the "sample rate", normally 44.1 KHz, the iPod might not be able to play tracks with a non-standard rate. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue might be.

Converting video with iTuns - but the sound disappered...

i converted vidoes from my last trip and then the sound was gone... the videos work on the iPod and on the iTunes but with no sound...
any ideas?

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Try MPEG Streamclip.

Import audio book to itunes but it won't sync to my ipod

I am at a complete loss. I have been importing audio books from the public library to itunes and then putting them on my ipod for months. All of a sudden the books won't sync to my ipod. Songs work ok, but my audio books don't. The little sync icon spins and the itunes screen says it is updating but it only lasts for a few seconds and the book is not on my ipod. I have done everything I can think of including restoring my ipod back to the original settings which lost everything. I don't know what else to do.

Play Video In iTunes Then It Won't Sync To iPod

I've just noticed that if I play a video in iTunes 6.0.2 it will then no longer sync with the iPod. iTunes says its not a compatible format.
I've just tested playing a video on the iPod (OK) then playing on Mac iTunes (OK) then resyncing. The video no longer syncs and removes itself from the iPod.
Looked in the threads but nothing there.
I have tried restoring my iPod to v1.0 firmware but this makes no difference. Videos that have previously been played inside iTunes will not sync.
Looks like iTunes 6.0.2 or Quicktime change the file format on play so it is then not accepted by the sync to the iPod.
Any clues ??

Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

There is a limit to the resolution that is playable on an iPod nano, 5th gen. According to the specs
"H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats."
So generally, 640x480 resolution is the limit for the video, although the screen itself is only 376x240. iTunes will not load any video that is not supported by the iPod. For example, if your videos are "HD," they exceed the limit.
There is a command in iTunes that can covert video to a supported format, as long as the video is not DRM'ed (protected). Hey...! I just noticed that command is in a new location in the latest iTunes. So this is for the latest version...
Select the video in iTunes. Go up to the menu bar and
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
If conversion for that video is not allowed, the command will be grayed out. If it works, the resulting version should be loadable and playable on your iPod.

Video recorded with iPhone 4, won't sync with iPad

I have the iPhone 4 and have recorded lots of video of my baby and I also have an ipad (boy was mommy mad at the purchase amounts . Anyway, I sync my iPhone with my macbookpro and see the videos and photos in iPhoto. I then create an event (with videos and photos made with iPhone 4)and then check the box under photos in iTunes to sync with my iPad.
I don't see my videos on the iPad with my photos. Is this a possible thing even? I am using 3 apple devices to share all photos and video to each and the photos appear on the iPad just not the videos made with the iPhone 4. Is the Photos App on the iPad capable of playing videos in itself?
Any suggestions would be fine. I'm sure I will have answers that will suggest that I have a wrong format for trasferring but I haven't changed anything about the quality or way the iPhone records. Thanks in advance!

Thanks red555, much appreciated. I guess going from an iPhone 3G, skipping the 3GS, I notice that the videos are clumped up with photos in that app on the 4g. I figured the iPad could do the same.
Just wished that I could go through the ipad's photo app just like I would on the phone. Built by the same company, claiming the name change of iPhone os to ios because they are all the same, but lacking common features.
What I want to know, in addition to the answer red555 gave me is, will the photo app in the iPad ever display the videos also or is there no plan of it due to apple restricting the photos app to hold only 16gigs. I believe people say it's due to indexing, but videos are just large files. Would hold less index if videos took up most of the space. I got an iPad for the screen size. Nice to hand off my iPad for grandma to see, rather than my phone, so she has to find her glasses to see videos

I have two computers connected to my iTunes. but it won't sync. My new computer won't take the songs already on my iPod or give me the new songs on the computer. What do I do?

I tried figuring out the icloud thing but all my settings are set to "on" so it should sync but it isn't... and plugging my ipod into my new computer doesn't change anything. The computer won't pick up the songs on the ipod and the ipod won't pick up the new songs on the new computer.

You can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage mauic and videos among different computer by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
You can transfer iTunes purchases to a computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
