Converting 110v - 220v

Hello, I am moving to Italy and need to know if I need to use my converter for my laptop or just a plug adaptor. I was told that newer laptops automatically convert the voltage for you so it does not burn out, but I am not sure if mine does, or if there is an aditional setting/switch. I have a
HP G62 Notebook PC
Let me know if you need more info like OS, Ram, and Proc.
Thanks for your help!
Adam
*Edit* I also have a AC Adapter series: PPP009L It shows 110-240v

Hi Adam,
The important thing here is your actual AC Power Adapter - as long as it will accept an input voltage in the range you need, then there is no problem - it will output the same power to your notebook regardless.  As your adapter will accept an input voltage range between 110v and 240v, an input voltage of 220v will be fine, so you'll just need an adapter to make the plug fit.

  • I am going to Chile and want to charge my iPad. I bought a dual wattage converter (changes 220V to 110V0, but it says to not use with computers... Would that include my iPad?

I am going to Chile and want to charge my iPad while I am there. I bought a dual wattage converter (changes 220V to 110V), but it says to not use with computers. Would this include my iPad?

Somewhat much later query but I do have a related one.  I've purchased my iPad 2 in India in October past.  Using an adaptor for Canada I seem to have no problems charging it.  Now I'm travelling to Chile and I see there is a 'similarity' in the two prongs on the electrical cord which came with the iPad (India) AND a similar pair of dual prongs used in Chile.   I note Chile also uses a 3 - prong (horizontal) outlet.  Query - Should I have any concern re the different currents used ; Canada 120V - 60 Hz versus Chile 220 - 50 Hz, or as noted earlier the iPad takes care of that with its built in converter.   Thank You.

  • What adaptor should I buy for AC power cord to convert 110v to 220v service

Travelling with my MacBook Pro from USA where AC is 110v.   How can I recharge battery in countries with 220v AC service>?

Plug it into a power outlet, the same way you do in the States. All you need is a plug adapter to allow your plug end to fit the wall outlet.

  • S750 US speaker working in Europe (110V - 220V) converter integrated?

Hi - somebody know if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 speaker system? I was relocating to Germany and took my S750 speaker system with me but I'm not sure if I can connect it directly to the 220V system. Most PC's have an integrated power converter and I was wondering if somebody of you knows if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 too?
    Thx.

    Faehner,
The power adaptor is inbuilt in the subwoofer but it's not a power converter adaptor. The power specification is written at the back of the subwoofer near to the power connecter. You have use the correct voltage that's stated there.

  • Converting 110v to 220v

I am taking my 2605DN laserjet to Singapore from US. However, I can not find the voltage switch on the printer. Can any one help me figure out an easy way to convert the voltage (instead of buy the voltage transformer).
    Thank you,

Toshiba power adapters will handle both. No problem.

  • Can my apple tv 3rd generation use dual power 110v/220v without a converter?

Can I use a 220 v power source for my apple tv without using a converter, it is a 3rd generation. I have moved to China and brought it with me from the US?

HDMI is the only supported method. There will be no guarantee with any converter. If it does work you will be unable to play protected content (ie iTunes, Netflix)

  • HT1750 imac 110v-220v

Will my imac (110v) work in a country with 220v if I use a voltage transformer?

It does not need a transformer. The transformer is built in to the iMac. It accepts 100-240v AC, 50-60Hz input (which covers most of the world).
All you need is an adapter to fit your US power lead's plug to whatever outlet socket type is used at your destination. That is just an inert, pass-through pin adapter. No transformer.

  • ONS 15454 and AC/DC Converter for 220V

    I am looking for a AC/DC converter for a ONS15454 for a 220V input.
The ONS 15454 datasheet indicate input current 22A maximum.
The Cisco AC/DC Power Solution datasheet indicate for ONS 15454 a medium solution.
And the same datasheet indicate the small solution is up to 32A for 220V.
Then, can I use the small configuration for ONS at 220V?
Anyone know that? Can you help me with that?
    Graciela

What is the hardware configuration of your 15454 including chassis, fan and by slot?
Using the hardware config, you can calcualte the expected amperage.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/optical/ps2006/products_tech_note09186a0080094ae4.shtml
The general power requirement of 22A provides for any possible configuration. Actual configurations may be less. I have some 454s using as little as 9A in the lab.

  • Mac mini adapter 110V in networks with a voltage of 220V

    Hello.
    I apologize for my English.
At sing electric adapter is written --

Can I use in networks with a voltage of 220V?
    Thank you for your help.

  • 110v ou 220v ???

It has a 6-watt built in universal power supply, meaning it works everywhere...110V, 220V...all you need is a proper plug adaptor.

  • Power Converter USA to Ireland

I purchased plug adapters for outlets for my new macbook pro but I was wondering if I needed to get a power converter that will convert 110V USA power to 240 volt Europe (Ireland) power. Or does the macbook pro have these capabilities? I don't want to plug in my new computer and end up frying it!!

The MBP's power adapter runs on 100-240 V and 50/60 Hz. You just need the adapter so the flat North American prongs fit into the outlets in overseas.

  • Charging iPhone 4S in Italy

I own an iPhone 4S. I will be vacationing in Italy later this year. I'm just interested to know if I would only need to purchase a power adapter to charge my phone while in Italy or if I need to purchase a power converter.

You will need an european plug/outlet adapter in order to be able to plug into the electric outlet. You do not need a power converter as the iPhone charger can handle 110v-220v 50/60 cycles. You can buy a plug adapter at almost all airport shops.

  • Using ipod in other countries

Hey everyone! Sorry if this is under the wrong post topic
I'm going on a trip to Europe (England and Ireland) and I just got the 30GB and I'm thinking of buying a travel adapter (since good old apple didnt have the 30 come with one.) I'm concerned about plugging it into a converter that is used in Europe. Once while visiting Italy, I blew out my cell phone from plugging it into one. I don't want this to happen to my expensive and new ipod I'm sure you can understand...how can I be sure the voltage can take it? I don't even know the voltage. Any info or experiences anyone had would be most appreciated.
    Thanx!
    30 GB

the power adapter that is sold by apple for the ipod is a universal world charger. it can take any voltage, so dont worry about blowing anything up. if you look at the adapter itself, or the box in the store, you will see that it say something like "110v-220v," which means it can take virtually any voltage you can find around the world.

  • Wall charger and travelling to Europe

I've got a 5G video ipod. I'm about to go to europe and need a wall charger to charge my ipod as i won't have a laptop with me to charge it via usb port.
With my old 2G ipod, the apple wall charger converted the 220V in Europe nicely . Should I purchase the apple branded wall charger to get the same benefit for the 5G? or do all the companies' chargers do the same (i.e. belkin, etc)

You would need to check the packaging or the manufacturer's website for any third party charger you get to be sure they will work internationally, a lot of them do. The Apple iPod charger works at voltages anywhere between 100 and 240 volts, so no other adaptor is needed. If you have a look on Amazon, you'll get lots of chargers including the Apple one: iPod chargers
