Converting 3g to just an ipod and not messing with my 4.

I bought a new iphone 4 and want to convert my old 3g into an ipod for the kids. How do I do this so when I sync the old 3g phone, it doesn't mess with my new phone?

Leave the deactivated sim card in the 3G, you'll need that if you every have to restore the phone or upgrade software. All iPhones require a sim card be installed in the phone to upgrade or restore software. The sim need not be activated, but it must be present. As for syncing, iTunes will keep everything straight, by device. You can have the same content or different content on each device. iTunes will keep it all straight, including separate backups. Fact is, you can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account.

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. One likely reason is the % battery is not that accurate because of the smaller battery capacity in the iPod compared to iPhone and iPad. Users why use a % battery app post that the % reading changes a lot.

Can I just save my music just to my ipod and not on my computer (laptop)?

Just a word of caution. This is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.

The iPod is not reliable enough to use it as a long term storage device, and these forums are littered with posts from people who decided to use it as such and ended up losing all their music.

Chicky, I have searched my computer for "iPod Photo Cache" and 51 folders pop up, plus 3 files (iPodInfo.plist, Photo Database and Image DB Temp.tmp). How do I know which to delete and which to keep? The Apple website page tackling this issue doesn't go into any detail. Thanks yet again.

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Attempts to sync an iDevice to a new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new, empty library.

Sorry for the lengthy delay to a response. Are you trying to convert multiple files to individual PDF files at the same time? (not combine them). If so, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat for this function. The CreatePDF service does not have the ability to convert multiple files to multiple individual PDF files.

Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?

With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

I have bought iphone 4s on July 12, 2012.in Zurich in offical Apple store (Glattzentrum) and after one and a half months it just turned off and not working since. I tried three charges and nothing (it detects that charger is on but it cannot be charged). So now I have a not working phone only two and something months after purchase. But the problem is that in Croatia we have two apple reseller stores and neither don't want to exchange it, although is under warranty!!!! The closest stores are 250 km from Zagreb...Of course I have contacted Apple store in Zurich but they told me to come in Switzerland or to send credit card data for receiving new iphone, the problem is I don't have credit card with 700 euro on it!!!! what to do?? who to call ??? where to get replacment device cause this is disaster???? I wanted to buy ipad but after all this I doubt to do so...I have not working Iphone payed around 700 chf or 800 usd and cannot change it in my country, is it possible for such vast organization like apple that this things can occur????? On a mac, when you save docs to icloud, a local copy is also saved. It's saved at:
~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
If the file(s) are no longer there, then use your Time Machine backups to get copies back to the mac.

I am using HttpURLConnection to establish a HTTP connection . The connection pass through a proxy, and it requires security.
I know that I can set the proxy settings in the system properties, and this works perfect.
But I don't want to set the proxy settings in the system properties, because this proxy settings will be for ALL the URLs, and I just want for a few URLs.
How could I set the proxy settings for just some URLs and not for all?

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. To switch:

You'll need to connect the iPod Touch to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restore it factory settings. There is no other way.
