Converting 5D video from 30p to 244p

Hi,
Is there a way to convert 5D video from 30p to 24p. Here's an example using a different program.  Sorry, I'm new when it comes to Premiere Pro so would love the assistance.

Thanks.
George

If the wedding video is on DVD it would have to be converted to a Quicktime movie; if you have permission to copy the video from the person who created the video, (the person who created it owns the copyright) you can use MPEGStreamclip.

  • Converting the videos (from Vixia HF M40) to standard definition on a Mac (10.6 OS X)

How do you convert the videos (from Vixia HF M40) to standard definition, for the Mac computers (10.6 OS X)?

    Hi venetiakelley!
    Thank you for posting.
Canon does not make conversion software, but there are 3rd party applications available that do convert video files from one format to another.  You can try doing an internet search for applications that will convert from one format to another.
However, there should not be a need to convert the video to a standard definition format to be able to view it on your Mac.  Even Apple's own iMovie should support the files that come from the VIXIA HF M40 depending on the version you have installed.  If you are using iMovie and experiencing some trouble opening the files, I recommend that you contact Apple directly for further assistance with iMovie.  They may have some more information about the trouble you are experiencing.

  • How do I convert frame rate from 30p to 24p????

I am about to start post on a short film shot on the mark II. I am going to convert the footage to ProRes. The director wants the "film" look. Can I change the frame rate from 30p to 24p in compressor? Are there any key settings I should know about?

There are lot of different ways to go about it, all have mixed results, and there is no way you'll get flawless results. However, here's a few ways to try:
    A) Conform to 23.98, using Cinema Tools - You'll be slowing down the footage, so this is no good if you have on-set dialogue recording you're going to keep and need lip sync. If you weren't going to use any on-set audio and doing all dialogue and FX replacement, it wouldn't matter. This is also effective for music videos - just speed up the audio playback while shooting, and when you slow the video down in post, it'll match.
    B) Use retiming in Compressor - I believe this uses some advanced frame blending and optical flow - I've had decent results with this method, but you can end up with some artifacts on high motion material.
    C) Use Twixtor within FCP or Adobe After Effects. This has been my preferred method for surgical speed manipulation. It's time consuming and just like method B, you'll get artifacts on high motion material.
What you definitely do NOT want to do is drop your 30p footage into a 24p timeline. The motion will be horribly stuttery. Similarly, don't try to just use frame blending to achieve the frame rate conversion - it's not very impressive to see frame blending all over everything.
You're best results will come from having low motion footage. Interviews, head shots, etc. work great. If you're doing a lot of action, I'd advise against trying to convert using anything but method A. If you can get your hands on the 7D, you can shoot 24p natively.

I have some video files that were recorded at 720x240, that I need to convert to 720x480. Any suggestions for a free Mac-friendly converter?
    Thanks!

Try enolsoft video converter which supports to specify the video parameters and quality. You can set the resolution as 720*480.

I have been recording in 4K with my GoPro camera, and my macbook would play the MP4 files no problem. I recently changed the resolution to 2.7K and now my Macbook will convert the (MP4) file to a (.mov) file before I'm able to play it. Does anyone know why?

  • Need to convert .m4v video to be editable in iMovie '09. Driving me insane!

I am new to Macs as a whole, and have only owned my MacBook Pro for a month, now. I am skilled in iMovie '06, however, as it was a program I used at school for three years. I made some videos for my media class using iMovie '06 that I then exported to iDVD and burned. The original videos/files are at school. All I have are the DVDs. I'd like to put these videos online. I know how to use HandBrake to rip the video file off the DVD. For videos ten minutes or less, I've been able to use the .m4v file to upload to YouTube. However, I have three videos that clock in around 17 minutes, which YouTube rejects. All I want to do is open the files in iMovie and cut them in half. I know where I want to cut, and I don't want to do any editing of any kind.
iMovie won't open .m4v files, however. So I don't know what to do. What program should I use to convert the .m4v video file to a format iMovie will open and allow me to splice the video?
Is HandBrake a program for that and I'm just using it wrong?
Or do I have to choose a whole 'nother program to rip the video file off the DVD.
In short: these are my works, I want to know what FREE program to use to rip them from the DVD and be able to open them in iMovie '09 to cut them in half, or, which program to use to convert .m4v into a format readable by iMovie '09.
Please tell me in idiot's terms. I'm not that proficient with video editing or computers, so I need it laid out clear and simple.
    Thanks!

an m4v file can be renamed to mov!!
First try that.. if you can play it your done. if you can not download perian.
If perian can't.. then you can buy quicktime pro.
I own quicktime pro and bough perian to support the video that quicktime pro didn't. When I convert avchd video from my camcorder on my G5 to something editable in imovie I use ffmpeg and also handbrake. handbrake created m4v files.
All I do is rename them and Imovie can read them in.

  • What are people using to convert .3gp video files into something compatible with iMovie? Does Apple have SW to do this?

I am trying to find the best and safest way to convert .3gp video from my Blackberry into a file format that iMovie will recognize.  I see lots of potential downloads, but I am hoping for some recommendations on which SW is most helpful.  Thanks.

There is a free App called MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. You can drag your .3gp into MPEG Streamclip. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME.
For HD sizes (1280x720 or 1920x1080), choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the Video Codec.
For smaller sizes, you can also use Apple Intermediate Codec, but h.264 will also work and will give a smaller file size.
Then import this new file into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT MOVIES

  • How do i convert videos from a macbook to a pc once on an external hard drive?

A buddy gave me some videos from his macbook and i've got a PC. I gave him my external and he put them on there when i moved them from the external to my pc's hard drive and tried to play in itunes it wouldn't let me. It gave me this message and took me to download xvid. I tried xvid but it didn't seem to work. I'm trying to scour the internet trying to find a converter to be able to play them. Why is it when i gave him some videos i have it went right through to his macbook? He was able to open with no problem? Can someone please give me a program that will convert and allow me to ultimately place them on my iPhone please.
No i cannot afford or want to buy a mac at this time. Other than that suggestions are welcome.

    Hi geek girl,
The only way you can achieve this is by starting up the MacBook in TD mode, with the relevant disc in the Optical drive. You then have to connect the MacBook to a Tiger capable PPC based Mac, attach the external drive to the PPC based Mac and boot the PPC based Mac holding down the option key to access the Startup Manager. Then choose the OS DVD as the startup disc on the PPC based Mac (much as I mentioned in your thread in the iMac G5 forum)
Of course, if you have a normally operating PPC based mac you can simply use it instead, without the need for the macBook at all! This trick is only useful to re-install an OS if the optical drive in the PPC based mac isn't working, but everything else is for example.
In your case with your imac G5, though, I think you have a more serious issue, and simply getting an external drive with the right PPC OS on it isn't going to help you until it is resolved.
    Cheers
    Rod

  • How can I flip my iphone videos on my PC? My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion

My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion and staggers into normal play. The clips are slightly cut as well, the clips do not roll continuously.  I'm taling about videos that are no more than 2 minutes long.  I'm frustrated and I could really use some advice-my kids basketball games is what I'm recording and I'm trying to send them to my family (they are not very tech savvy). Thanks

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)
Yes I know it does other things but the purpose I bought it for doesn't work anymore

I was a kid when I made a documentary for a school project. I've been trying to figure out how to retrieve the file. 4 years ago, I was able to get the files off the Iomega Zip drive (finally), but I now see the file is saved as a .A4P. There is also a file saved as a .PKG as well, but I don't know how to open this with my Windows 8 COmputer.

.a4p is an Authorware v.4 (Windows) project.
Interesting you have it as a .pkg...usually that's a published-on-a- Mac extension, if I recall.
At any rate, can you put the file up on a Box, Dropbox, FTP, etc...and send me a URL?
I should be able to published it so you can view the project (it would be an .exe).
It can't be converted to anything though - not without manual effort.

  • Trouble capturing video from VHS via Analogue to DV converter

I use Final Cut Express 1.0.1 and I've always been able to capture video from VHS via a Director's Cut analogue to DV converter box. Today it keeps freezing on me. I've tried force quit, logged off and back on again and even re-started the computer. I've got plenty of space on my two hard drives (125GB free on main drive and 85.42GB on my scratch disk).
I'm sure I've set the rest up correctly (composite cable from VHS to DV convertor box set to output and connected to input slots on box, and DV box set to capture). The box is correctly connected to the Mac.
I've also logged on using another user's account to see if the same problem occurs, and it does. I believe this means that dumping the my preference file won't help, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Any ideas how to stop this freezing on me would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karen

Last bit of help from Martin may have some mileage in it as far as excluding hidden problems with the drive you are capturing too.
Have been reading into the requirements for the hard disc and it does make it clear having a separate one like you have is almost a requirement because of the work it does. Would it be worth trying a small capture to your system disc. If it helps that is how I am working at the moment so it doesn't appear to be instant fireworks if you do use this one but give it some thought first...
On the firewire port side of things I have seen some unexplained connection issues on this front which were cured by shutting things down, unplugging and then beginning again. Take it System Profile didn't yield anything?
Now I got back in front of my Mac it appears Quicktime Pro will allow capture from an attached device but appreciate you may not have the Pro bit, iMovie should be as good a test.
    Nick.

  • Converting Video from 44.1K to 48K

    Hello,
I'm trying to convert a video file from 44.1K to 48K for the audio track. I tried using the "Export" feature, which worked fine in regards to the audio stream itself, but the new movie (which was already compressed to begin with) now looks horrible.
What is the easiest way to simply change the audio track -- Without touching the video part? Thanks!
    Jerome

Open the file in QuickTime Player. Export > Sound to AIFF. Use the Options button to access the 48k setting. Save the file.
Press command and J keys to access QT's Properties window. Click the audio track. click Delete at top left.
Open your newly converted 48k audio. Press command and A (select all). Bring your movie to the front. Choose Edit > Add to Movie from the menu bar. Save the new version of your movie.
    Done.

Im having a problem with the dvd quality, I'm using compressor to convert the video fils from apple prores to mpeg2 .It doesn't matter how long my video is even if its just 5 minutes  I'm getting cut edges/lines  in the video specialy if i have titles it comes up really bad , I took the same video to a friend of mine who have PC and he uses Encore , did the encoding there and it was just fine no problems! BTW I tried using doferent setings in compressor from CBR and VBR I even pushed up the setings to 8 or 9 BR and still no luck !
does anyone have any idea ?
    Thanks in advence ...

Let's focus attention on just the Sony. (What model and what resolution are you shooting?)
    For now, I'll assume you're shooting 1080i.
Take a representaive clip  into a new sequence. Add a title.
In your sequence, make sure field dominance is set to Upper.
Set render settings to Pro Res 422.
After rendering, export QT self contained.
Import into Compressor (I'm now referring to v3.5).
Select the 90 minute Best quality DVD preset.
Open frame controls and turn on (click the gear icon). Set Resize filter to Best.
Submit burn and check quality on TV.
    Good luck.
