Converting a Digital Voice File (DVF) into a readable format.

Hi there,
I just bought a Sony digital voice recorder which records files in a format that gets tagged with the extension "DVF" and a Windows machine recognizes as "digital voice file"s. I can't seem to get iTunes to read them. I'm sure it's not a compatible format, but does anyone know of a utility or program or something that will convert DVFs into something a bit more accessible (WAV, MP3, whatever?)
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Josh from Dublin

Best way to find something is google "DVF converter".

Is there a way to convert REASON's .sxt files to LOGIC's .exs format???
From the NNXT sampler file format to the EXS24 format???

I have done it manually, and it takes a long time just for 1 patch.
Just the sample editing and naming takes hours!
    Autosampler automates this process.
You can define how many velocity levels you need.
If a midi CC changes the sound in an interesting way, you can have Autosampler send the controller in increments and sample that.
At the end of it, you end up with a finished EXS instrument.

  • Converting purchased iTunes song files to Xbox 360 friendly format?

I know you can right click on a song and select Create AAC version. Is there any way to do this so that the converted file REPLACES the old one, and I don't have a load of duplicates to clear? Thanks

I know this is an older post, but I myself have recently discovered that my Xbox 360 will not play the Protected or Purchased AAC files from my iPod. I understand that I can convert the Purchased AAC files to AAC and then the song will play on my Xbox; however, the problem with that is not only does it create a duplicate in my iTunes library, but when you go to remove the Purchased AAC file (as you already made an AAC copy of it), the song is also removed from your playlists. The library is now the only place the AAC file is stored in. It isn't enough that one must convert the songs to AAC format and then delete the duplicate, they have to redo their playlists. If you've discovered this by now and know of a way to make it easier to play the Purchased AAC files on the Xbox, please let me know. I'd like to save myself A LOT of trouble.

  • Need to convert the binary data in blob field to readable format

    Hi,
We need to convert the Binary data in the BLOB field to readable format and need to display it in Oracle Apps Environment, does anybody come across the similar requirement.
    please advise, thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Babu.

You could use standard Attachments functionality here ... if the blob is not in FND_LOBS, insert into FND_LOBS, fnd_attached_documents etc to enable viewing via "Attachments" to the entity the blob is related to.

  • Error converting a Premiere Elments file (*.prel) into Premiere Pro

When opening a Premiere Elements File (*.prel) in Premiere Pro it does not load. Premiere Pro crashes in the process and I get the following message before shutting down: "Premiere Pro has encountered an error. [\SRC\AEVideoFilter.ccp-1651]"
I use Premiere Pro CS5 and import from Premiere Elements 9 on Windows Vista.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
When the PREL comes from a version of PrE, that is rather contemporary with one's version of PrPro, it should Open fine. If not, try to Import it into a similar Project. Now, there ARE some caveats:
PrE has some functions that do not exist in PrPro, such as Instant Movies/Themes, and those can cause issues.
PrE has some 3rd party Effects and Transitions, that do not exist in PrPro, but PrPro should not crash, only alert you to those. However, a few have caused some major issues.
There could well be other issues, that I am just not remembering.
As a test, create a simple Project in PrE, and Save. Open (or Import) that PREL into PrPro, and test.
    Good luck,

Output would very based on which file you are trying to convert.
TKProf can be run from anywhere, even from the client (for administrator type installation AFAIK) of preferably the same Oracle version.
Best would be to run the same from the database server itself, as there would be no conflicts about versions and interpretation of trace data by the tkprof utility. F.ex. prior to 10g, all timings in trace files were in milliseconds whereas in 10g, it is saved in microseconds.

  • Converting swing components into some readable format

    Hello all,
A requirement for the application I'm writing is for it to email automatically generated reports to various clients. My problem is that I'm not sure what would be the best format to send the reports. The reports are attached to the email and the sent via JavaMail.
I have 2 modes of thought at this stage:
    1. Convert a Report (Printable Swing component) to HTML and either attach this or embed it in an email. Question here is how do I convert the Report to HTML?
    2. Print the Report using Adobe Distiller. Once the pdf is created, attach it to the email and send. Problem is that it's unlikely that other users of my software have Distiller. Any Swing to PDF packages that anyone knows of?
To give you some idea of exactly what I'm doing, please look at the following 2 links.
    1. A screen shot of the Report:
    http://www.genepi.waimr.uwa.edu.au/radar/storage/report.jpg
    2. The Report after it's been printed with Distiller:
    http://www.genepi.waimr.uwa.edu.au/radar/storage/report.pdf
Note: The previous files will be removed from the server in a couple of days.
Also, I'm open to any other suggestion! So if anyone has a good idea, please post it!
    Thanks,
    Muel.

Thanks for your reply. No problem. Interesting problem, as a matter of fact.
Those reports are created dynamically from querying a
database. A Report itself is a JDialog, the
content-pane of which uses a custom LayoutManager.
The LayoutManager controls a Book and decides whether
or not to add JLabels to the current ReportPage (a
Printable JPanel), or to create a new ReportPage and
add them to it.This is where I don't quite agree with your approach. I don't know if you're familiar with the MVC concept because this is typically the issue you're dealing with here. I hope I'm not misinterpreting what you said but it seems you are storing the content of your database query directly in a particular View (a violation of the MVC principle).
What you need to do is create a true Model which will hold the logic of what your Reports really are. From what I understood with your image, this class should contain member variables such as addresses, a title, funny notes ;) ...
Displaying your report in a JDialog is all about creating the most appropriate View for that Model. Using a custom document with its own LayoutManager, JLabels... is, IMHO, a very pragmatic, convenient choice. It is not the only possible choice however. What if, in the future, you wanted to allow the user to copy / paste the report outside your application ? What if, you wanted to allow him/her to edit it prior to printing it?
Your other requirements involve a printable version of your report and one that can be sent by email. It turns out that HTML is a good pick. Personally, I once had to print HTML and the advices I found at http://www.fawcette.com/javapro/2002_12/online/print_kgauthier_12_10_02/ were quite precious (paging is nicely handled). Moreover, sending html in a mail is piece of cake.
All it comes down to is how to produce that HTML. Forget about my suggestion of creating a StyledDocument. It might work but writing HTML directly is much faster and easier. The only real constraint here is that the produced HTML should be 3.2 valid. In your case, this serialization should be conducted on the Model, NOT on the View.
I forgot to mention that once you'll have produced that "html report writer" class, you'll have to reconsider using a JTextPane for your Report display JDialog.

  • String into un readable format

    Hi all,
i have filed of 120 characters, the data in the field is passed to bar code label. and i will print this barcode.
Now i will read this bar code using scanner. at that time the data present in the label is displayed in text file, this is readable by all.
but i dont wanrt this text in readable form.
Is there any function module to make it un readable. and when i need this should be radable, how to achieve this.
    Rgds
    Ramesh

    Hi,
If you are using BARONE for desining your barcode, it generates the printer codes in background. You can simply take the code and use it in your SAP Script as it is passing the parameters.
OR Tcode SE73 - to define BARCODE fonts and use it in your form.
Hope this solves your problem very easily.

  • How to change in sql_text into normal readable format?

    hi all
yesterday inour production environment the dev. did wrongly updated one query.
they want to know who and when did the changes?

but in that table the column for sql_text is not showing the full query ,it shows the update table_name set column name=new row id where =old row id..
by using this query i dont know how to trace the sql_query in norma readble format.
pls help me to sort out this issue..
    Thanks

    Hi
I am little confused with your question...
    >

    >
If you are getting back the update table_name set column name=new row id where =old row id.. statement then you can get back the values you want.so, what does by using this query i dont know how to trace the sql_query in norma readble format mean. The update statement is in readable format only.
The answer for who and when changed it is
    select USERNAME,to_char(TIMESTAMP,'DD-MON-YY HH24:MI:SS'),USERHOST,TERMINAL,OWNER,OBJ_NAME,ACTION_NAME,SQL_TEXT from DBA_AUDIT_OBJECT;
The username will be the database username who updated the column.Timestamp will tell you the time when it was done, terminal will give the terminal name of the PC,owner is the object's owner and sql_text is the update command fired by the username on the owner's table.

  • How do I convert a Simple Sound file to a .WAV file?

    Since I have a Mac Mini (w/Intel CPU) I don't have a built-in microphone.
I do, however, have an OS 9.1 Wall Street Powerbook with a built-in mike.
I'd like to send voicemail to friends who use Windows XP
I used Simple Sound to record a message on the Powerbook and e-mailed
it to myself. Now what? IMovieHD will apparently (according to Pogue) convert the sound portion of a movie to .WAV but when I open a New Project in IMovieHD my sound file is ghosted.
Is there an app in Tiger that will convert the sound (voice) file? Or perhaps some freeware app out there?

    Hi, gwgoldb.
USB microphones are very inexpensive. I'd suggest getting one of those and simply doing the recording on your new Mac Mini.
    For recording:
    • You could use the previously-suggested freeware Audacity to record and save the recording as .wav. Note Audacity isn't a Universal Binary at this time, so it would run under Rosetta.
    •  Use QuickTime Pro for recording and converting (export) the recording to .wav. Some people balk at paying US$ 29.99 for a QuickTime Pro key, but I find it does a nice job in basic recording, converting audio/video, and basic A/V editing, all with the simplicity of the QuickTime interface.
    Good luck!

Unfortunately you cannot. RealMedia (.rm, .ram) is a proprietary format - only works with Real Player.

  • How can I convert a DSS dictation file to mp3?

Am new to using a Mac and my last place of work I used a PC with Speechexec dictation software.  I need to convert some of the old dictation files to play on either QuickTime or iTunes etc.  Anyone any idea?

I would like to validate and recommend the solution mentioned by Mark Dachille. I, too, have conducted extensive Google searches to find software which can convert Olympus DSS audio-formatted files to mp3, only to discover that there is no such animal out there. NCH Software offers Switch, but if you check out the list of formats supported by Switch, you will learn that while Switch is supported for Windows, Switch is incapable of converting Olympus's proprietary DSS audio files to any other audio format. Any attempt to do so will reveal a message that the file is empty, no data is found, etc. But if the Finder shows that your DSS does have data, then all Switch is saying, in effect, is: "Hey, I can't see anything in this file," which would be a more honest and a more accurate message, instead of using misleading language about the file itself.
(As a related issue, which I will not elaborate upon here, I have a problem with NCH Software. I detest their software upgrading policy;  I find their technical software abominable; and I caught them lying in a recent Google search, where their AdWord at the top of the page alleges that Switch "Easily convert dss audio dictations to wav or mp3 on a PC or Mac. Works on Windows and Mac." Don't believe this marketing hype. It is a blatant lie. I wrote them a letter, and I published it as an open letter in the record for Switch at MacUpdate.com, for anyone wanting further details.)
As far as converting DSS files to mp3, I have found no direct route. As Mark points out, the most elegant option is to use the Olympus DSS Player software. Fortunately, version 7.5 works with Mavericks; I just tested it out once again to confirm that. The Olympus web site provides downloads to the previous versions of DSS Player, which accompanied the purchase of an Olympus recorder, but it may not allow downloading of the original application itself to which you can apply those upgrades. However, if you do a deep Google search, you may get lucky and locate the original application.
Once in DSS Player, you import your DSS file(s). After they are listed in file window, you can export them to AIFF files. From there, you can either use Switch or any other audio converter which can convert AIFF files to mp3 files.
I happen to use Switch, because I bought a license years ago, and it does the job quite well, while also working in batch mode to convert many files at one go. But that does mean I recommend buying Switch, for the reasons I discuss in my comments at MacUpdate.com. Be careful dealing with this software company: have your eyes open before you purchase.
NCH Software has had years in which to empower Switch to work on the Mac, but they either cannot code the program to do this, or they do not want to. Either way, they should not lie about saying their program CAN do in their Goggle AdWord, while admitting on their website, if you probe before you buy, that Switch can NOT convert DSS to mp3 after all. I have a bias against liars.
I find it interesting that NCH Software is not above slamming Olympus for having developed, in NCH's opinion, an inferior audio format for recording dictation. Whether that is true or not, I cannot comment for it is a technical matter beyond my expertise. However, I can say that setting your Olympus recorder (in my case, model DS-2, which has worked flawlessly for me for years), allows you to record many more messages before the storage capacity (of about 68 MB on my device) is reached. So, there is an incentive, in my case, to use DSS on the device, but to convert the source DSS files later on to usable formats on my Mac.
My calculations indicate that when you convert a DSS file to an AIFF file via the DSS Player, your file size will increase about 13 times, meaning that a 1 MB DSS file will convert to a 13 MB AIFF file. Converting that AIFF file via Switch reduces that file to about 9 MB, which means that an mp3 file is about 9 times as large as an original DSS file. The vast difference in the file size allows me to record up to 22 hours at DSS (at 200 - 3,000 Hz) vs 1 hour at Stereo High Quality mode, which delivers an AIFF file (at 100 - 17,000 Hz).
I like being able to choose the quality settings, and I like the ability to call upon the DSS setting to record long conversations, interviews, or dictation, without fretting that I will run out of storage space. The ability to convert those DSS files, via the DSS Player, to AIFF, then to mp3 gives me the flexibility of choice.
The key to the whole process of converting DSS files to other audio formats is the Olympus DSS Player software: it is the essential intermediate step for a Mac user, without which you are stuck, unless you want to run the Windows version of Switch. I don't.

    Use ProRes 422.
Is there any benefit of compressor or streamclip?
MPEG Streamclip is possibly a little less complicated to set up than Compressor.
I have a tutorial for it [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2070861&tstart=0]. Just substitute ProRes instead of the DV codec in the article.

Is there a pattern to the time of day or other detail that may be
traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house

Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.

  • How To Get A Sony Digital Voice Recorder MSV File To Play On Mac?

    Hi...
I have a Sony Digital Voice Recorder that (I guess) puts it’s recording’s into a MSV format. I’ve done a Google search and found conversion software...
But does anyone have any recommendations or is my Mac capable of the conversion with it’s assortment of software already?
    Thank you in advance
Comments, suggestions and opinions are appreciated.....

    Hi Catharsis,
Switch for OSX does NOT convert MSV files. The only way to do it is with something like CrossOver or Parallells with a windows installation and use the Sony software.
Had I known this prior, I would not have bought the Sony product which in all other respects is a good piece of equipment. (ICS MX20)
