Converting a logic audio gold file to a Logic studio file

I have a very small (299kb) LAG file that I created in 2000. I can't open it in Logic Studio and don't have any earlier Logic software. Can anyone give me a hand and convert it to a Logic studio file. It's small enough to email back and forth. I just need the MIDI data and don't want to recreate the whole song.
Thanks in Advance!!!

Bonjour Seeren,
Thanks for joining the conversation.
I knew about your workaround, unfortunately it's not a good solution, as what I want is jus that LX behaves as expected.
But... thanks anyway because I could solve my problem !!!
In fact, first I've now realized two main things :
     1) in the LP9 project, if I display both the track name and the channel strip name in the arrange window, I can see that the channel strip name is what I will have in the Mixer once in LX, and the track name is what I will have in Track window of LX. So I could be sure that the problem came from "before" opening in LX.
     2) in L9 and also in LX, when you start from a project from scratch and rename a track, Logic assign the new name to the CHANNEL NAME, not to the TRACK NAME, and I was not aware of that at all !
So I found a way to make things work :
     - in the arrange window in L9, I've displayed both the Channel Name and the Track Name. For each track, I've cut the Track name and pasted it into the Channel name. That was pretty fast as they were just next to each other.
     - I saved and opened in LX.
Hallelujah ! it works, and the sync remains (if I decide to change the track name, the nam in the mixer follows !)
So, basically, I have no idea why in my L9 projects, I ended up having the name being changed sometimes in the tracks names and sometimes in the channel channel name, but now I could sort it out for LX.
Additonnaly, I've realized that if I create a L9 project from scratch, then import one of my L9 song file in it (all tracks, contents, E/S, ... everything), and then do that renaming just as mentioned above, Logic would re-assign all audio channel from Nr1.
So, thank you very much, and thanks to The Art of Sound too !
I hope this topic will help some other people !!
Goooood evening !

  • Importing audio voice file changes the pitch in Logic Express

I noticed something weird with my Logic Express 7. When I import an audio voice file. The pitch seems to be lower in Logic when I play the file than compared to the original file. Does anyone know what could be causing the pitch change? I though I was going crazy, but something is definitely change the pitch when I import an audio file.

    Hi,
The only thing I can think of right off is that the original is a higher sampling rate file than what you have set for LE.

  • How do i convert to acc audio files

How do i convert to acc audio files

    Hello Red Teddy,
The following article contains steps for converting content from one format to another.
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
To convert a song's file format:
    Open iTunes Preferences.
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click the General button, then click the Importing Settings button in the second section of the window.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then from the Advanced menu, choose one of the following (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences):
    Create MP3 version
    Create AAC version
    Create AIFF version
    Create WAV version
    Create Apple Lossless version
If you haven't imported some songs into iTunes yet, you can import and convert them at the same time. This will create a converted copy of the file in your iTunes Library based on your iTunes preferences. To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows) and choose Advanced > ConvertImport preference setting. The Import preference setting will match what you chose in step 3. iTunes will prompt you for the location of the folder or disk you want to import and convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted. Note: Some purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted. iTunes Plus purchases are not protected and can be converted.
The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.
    Cheers,
    Allen

  • FCP Audio Issue Beeping Tone - Trouble converting to AIFF from .DV files

    Hi!
I am recutting a couple projects that exist only as dvd's and dmg files. I converted them all to .DV files using MPEG Streamclip (they are married audio video files). I brought them in to FCP (drag and drop) and all of the audio plays fine in the viewer or when scrubbing, but when I bring clips into the timeline they just have that beeping tone. I am assuming it is because the files do not have AIFF audio, but I have no idea how I might go about converting it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Lucy

ok ok.... i can render it and the audio comes through. but i cant seem to find an import setting in either program that prevents this.

  • Convert old Logic 5.x PST Files on PC to FXP/FXB

I'd like to know if and how I can convert old PST files in Logic 5.x on a PC to FXP/FXB (VST format) or simply make them usable in Logic Pro/Logic Studio where I've the same plugins in AudioUnit format. I'd even be willing to code my own utility if I had access to the PST file format from an older version of Logic. I really appreciate everyone's time!

If I remember correctly, Logic OSX would load PST settings files correctly (and then be able to resave as .aupresets) but only for Logic's own plugs, not for third-party ones.
You'll either have to work out your own solutions, or go back to the older versions and resave those settings in the plugins own native handling, if it has it's own patch formats....

  • Converting left channel audio into stereo file

I'm using an edirol ua 25 which has two inputs, 1 which is a left channel and 2 a right channel. As i'm using the first input, the recorded audio pans hard left, how do I go about converting the recorded audio into a central stereo file?

Why do you want to change it to stereo? It isn't a stereo (two-channel) recording, it's a mono, single-channel recording.
Mono is not somehow "worse" than stereo, don't feel that need that everything should be recorded to two channels, it's a waste of resources.
You can pan it anywhere in the stereo field - with the pan knob central, the mono track will be centered in the stereo field. You can pan it left or right accordingly.

  • Can I convert a DVD audio file to CD?

I have non-protected kids music on a DVD (just a bunch of songs from Noggin that I recorded with the DVR). I imported it as a wav file but I got no sound. I converted it to an AAC file in itunes, when I right click the file, go to "get info", and check the summary, it reads that it is an AAC file and the volume is +0.0 dB. What am I doing wrong? (Be gentle, I'm new at this.)
    Thanks!
    deuxbebes

Yes, it is possible to extract audio from a DVD and save it as a wav,mp3,aac file. This is not something that iTunes can do. You need to use an audio editting program to do this. I did a quick search and found a program called 'StaxRip' which is an open source (freeware) program that can extract audio. Try searching in Google and you'll find more.

  • Converting MPEG-4 Audio Files back to iTunes

So my computer crashed from Vista's Service Pack 1. The cause of the crash was unknown at the time and I thought I had a virus so instead of backing up files which could contain virus's. I just reformatted my computer.
Now I have about 10 gigs of legal music from various place (CD's, iTunes, Friends) which are all already on my iPod. I know there are 3rd party programs to retrieve these songs, but I know a little bit about computers so I just did it myself.
The problem I am having is converting the MPEG-4(m4a) files so iTunes recognizes that these are music files like a MPEG-3(mp3). For some reason the actual CD's I bought when burned saved under both file types, I have no idea why. So basically I am missing about 1/3 of my library.
Any help on how to get these files back onto iTunes from my iPod without re-burning 100's of CD's?

Some of those solutions are free. You can also take a look at this user tip:

The solution presented is free albeit a bit involved.

  • Convert video to audio only

I'm looking to play video podcasts (classroom lectures) on my Nano6g - even as audio only.
My university classes (U. Florida) come as a podcast which Itunes puts in the Movies folder rather than the Podcast or ItunesU folder, perhaps because of the file format. I've tried to copy the files into other folders but that doesn't work.
Is there a way in Itunes 10 to convert these to audio only tracks?
It really ***** that my 5g had this functionality but now I have to carry my Classic and my Nano 6G to do what the 5G could.

Not in iTunes, ditto for QuickTime.
but I bet a google search would point you to some applications that can do it.
And you might check, some podcasts have both versions: video and audio.

  • Audio (PPC) File Size

Hello. We have been working with Adobe Presenter to create
presentations/lectures which we ultimately upload to our University
Adobe Connect server. We have been seeing some very annoying
problems with the size of the audio (PPC) file.
On one system, I recorded a lecture that had 60 slides and 60
minutes of audio. The PPC file size is roughly about 30MB.
On another system, I recorded 18 slides with 23 minutes of
audio. The PPC files size is roughly 130MB.
I then took the 2nd presentation I created (130MB) and
attempted to split it into two presentations to get smaller lecture
sizes. I did this via Adobe Presenter and PowerPoint. I cut the
presentation into two presentations, A and B. I then had 2 audio
(PPC) files per part (A & B). The very strange thing was that
the size of the PPC file for each of them (130MB) was the same as
it was when they were combined (130MB). I would think it should
have been less, roughly half but it stayed identical. If I looked
at the audio for part A and then for part B via the 'Audio Editor'
it showed just their audio (so half the minutes as the original)
but why is the size of the audio file the same as the combined
    version?
One both the systems I am using to create/record these
presentations, I am running Windows XP with Office 2003. Also, on
each system, the audio quality level is the same.
Please let me know what you think. I appreciate the help.
    Bob Schell

    Bob,
I would guess that the file size has mostly to do with the
audio file that was used and what it's recording quality setting
    was.
In the end does the PPC file size cause any problems? The
audio may be in WAV format which is good quality but large. When
published the audio is converted to MP3 so the file size should
    drop.

  • Everytime i record audio the file is smaller than it should be

Hello, got a big problem Logic 9 Osx 10.6 - everytime i record audio the file is smaller than it should be and i need to drag it on the left side to get the original lenght. Can you help me please?

I think you store the data as Double data (8 bytes per value).
TDMS doesn't support 12 bit data, so the least storage space you can use is 16 bit.
What is JTFA? can't you do it in chunks.

  • Sync Problems - Importing Garageband FIles Into Logic Studio 8

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone can PLEASE HELP?!!
I'm having a real headache when I open my Garageband files in Logic Studio 8 - most of the real instrument tracks end up out of sync with the software tracks!!
For example, I opened a song in Logic 8 (mostly Apple loops/beats & software synths - but with some rhythm guitar parts and bass) and the guitars and bass are a few beats in front of the rest of the song.
The same thing happens (sometimes) with the vocal tracks too...
It's become a real nightmare for me - I'm due to go into a professional studio in a few weeks time to start mixing my (Garageband) songs (in Logic). Aaaargh! Pressure!
A previous advisor kindly advised me that I may be exhausting my Mac's processing capabilities.
However, I use an iMac (250GB, 3GB of RAM, 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo). It's only around 1 year old - so I'm sure it should be man enough for the job.
However, the studio I am using to mix my album have the latest up-to-date MacPro's - and when they open the Garageband files I've supplied to them (on dvd) in Logic 8....they are having the same problem. The tracks are out of sync...
I've supplied them with both the Garageband files (as an exported project) and the imported Logic 8 version...
    I just don't get it.
The songs play okay in Garageband. (Ok, I get the occasional processor warnings....so I lock the tracks, problem solved).
I'n not using any fancy plug-ins.
I don't have any other applications running.
I'm not sure what the RPM of my iMac hard drive is (can anyone advise me how I can find this out please?) but I'm sure that can't be an issue either....
If anyone can please help, I'll be so grateful.
I've been working on my album for 11 months now - and I'm about to go into the studio to mix it in late August.....and after all my hard work, I'd be so relieved if anyone can help me avert a catastrophe!
Many thanks folks (in advance) if you can help.....

And it's the same in Logic?
Also, if you have plugins on the main output or busses - what is your PDC setting in your audio prefs? Make sure it's set to "All".
Yes, it's the same in Logic (44.100).
No sure about PDC settings etc as I am not familiar with Logic.
However, I'm not using any plug-ins - and when I check under Logic/preferences/audio/general - "Plug in delay" is set to "Compensation: All"
(Sorry to sound like a novice, but as I mentioned in my original post, I'm not familiar with Logic........but the studio where I'm taking my album to be mixed is)!
