Converting a movie to youtube

Hi, I encoded a video using apple pro res 422 (Proxy), the final size of the video was under 2gb but when I uploaded it said it failed to convert on youtube. I'm now trying to re-encode this video to another format but I'm using windows and don't know of any programs which can do this. All the .mov to h.264,wmv,mpeg,etc... programs that I've tried does not work, it keeps giving me an error message whenever they try to convert the movie file. Does anyone know how I can get this movie uploaded onto youtube? Thanks.

Is compressor a Mac program? I am actually using Windows right now and don't have access to a Mac.
I actually found a program called foxreal, it was $35 but it got the job done and was the only converter I found that could convert my video (on windows anyway). I don't have access to the original Final Cut Pro project anymore as it was done for CampusMovieFest and I no longer have the laptop. The nice thing about foxreal is that they use the nvidia CUDA cores too so converting gets done faster. Anyways, thanks for the reply.

  • Media encoder inserts black frame at beginning, when converting my MOV file to H264 for YouTube 720pHD

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert my MOV file to H264, and selecting "YouTube 720pHD" (for Instagram) as I was instructed by someone at Adobe over the phone. But it inserts a black frame at the beginning or end. When I open the converted file on my desktop, the black frame is the first frame. After I upload to Instagram, the black frame is at the end. How can I get rid of the black frame?! Please help!

    Welcome to the furum, Forrest.
Hmmm. I don't recall hearing of that problem. There may not be many users who can offer a solution.
This workaround should work, however: Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player and remove the first frame. (I think it's only the first frame that is black, not the first second. Remove all the black, whatever it is.) Save the movie. That may cause QT Player to save it into a new movie. Use the modified movie for your Web site. QuickTime Pro is required — $30 from Apple.
Note that you've posted in the iMovie 6 forum, not the iMovie HD forum for iMovie 5. There are fewer current iMovie 5 users here. Most were iM5 users, however, so someone might remember this problem.

  • Best converter for .Mov to .Flv?

    Hi
I need to find a video converter for .Mov to .Flv(or maybe Mp4 or mpeg).
I found out that you cant create a playlist in .mov...so i need to convert. Youtube's conversion seems to suck though...can i get a better quality .flv conversion?
I have a lot of videos +around 70+ that need to convert to a format with playlist functionality for mac and windows.
Whats a good software to convert to flv.or the other format? currently my videos are 960x540.
    Help is appreciated.

MPEG Streamclip with the Perian plug in should work.
    Both are free.

  • How to convert a movie from iMovie to avi?

    Hello all
I would like to convert a movie from iMovie to avi, what i should do??
    You have any ideas??
    Thx.

AVI has been dead for many years and is the wrong container to share files.
Since you've published the file to YouTube the viewer only needs Flash Player to view it.
If you are trying to "share" the source file so the Windows user can make edits then you need to tell us more about it.
What codecs, dimensions are available to make such an "export"?

  • Problem compressing converted HD .mov to mpeg4

O.K - This is driving me crazy!
Just imported and successfully edited footage from my new JVC HD GZ-EX210 Camera into Final Cut Pro 7.
The finished, exported .mov file (using Export>Quicktime Movie) looks fine. However, whatever I do to try and successfully convert this.mov file into mpeg4 I either get sudden jerks (after a few seconds of the footage looking fine) or I get flickering and problems with jerkyness.
The original files before import via Log and Transfer were AVCHD 1920x1080p files (I believe the frame rate is 50 fps).
After FCP converted the files, movie inspector showed that the files are now:
    Apple ProRes 422
    Aspect Ratio Square
    Frame Rate 29.97
    Field Dominance: Upper (Odd)
After I dragged the files - now in my browser - into my sequence, FCP asked me if I wanted to set the sequence to the format of the clips I was editing, which I did.
Footage looks great in the sequence and no need to render it.
It may or may not be important to note regarding my problem that the camera is p (progresive scan). I don't know if the FCP internal conversion of the camera files dealt with this. As I said - everything looks fine in the timeline.
    The sequence settings show:
    Frame size 1920x1080   -   HDTV 1080i (16:9)  > (NB: There is no seeting in FCP for 1920x1080 50p - only 30p)
All other setings match what the movie inspector says.
    Please help!
    Mark

To be honest, my fear is that this is really a problem with HD AVCHD/ .MTS files being compressed in general.
What I'm finding is that whether de-interlaced (Upper/ Odd) or left as progressive (Field dominance none) I'm only seeing pans and motion looking O.K when the video is played at full HD definition at full size after allowing the file to fully load on youtube. At all other sizes the motion problems or choppyness seem to be a problem.
Please look at these two short clips from the same original footage.
    1. In this clip there is no field dominance (no comb-like image when viewed close up) and the movie was compressed without de-interlacing. In other words, it was uploaded as a progressive movie (H.264 mpeg4)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYlbYvXm23g
    2. In this clip, the source footage was de-interlaced (Upper/Odd) in Final Cut Pro (which originally imported the file with an Upper/Odd field in the sequence settings) and the de-interlaced options were also checked when it was converted to H.264 mpeg4.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvCJ1yO21ME&feature=youtu.be
Essentially, I can't tell the difference! As you will see, either way the motion issues are there when the video is not viewed full sized, full HD and fully loaded, leading me to wonder if it's to do with youtube or a more fundamental issue with my camera's AVCHD files being converted for editing in Final Cut Pro. I can't tell if this is a compression issue, but it seems to be. I'm at a loss as to how to deal with this! Any ideas!?
One last note, I have found that if I convert to .mov (still H.264) with lots of de-interlacing, frame blending etc AND I downscale from the original 1080 to 720p AND I set my data rate to 15000 KBPS I get slightly better results - but still far from perfect!
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • How can i convert 3d movie into 2d to watch it in mac

i have a movie with mkv file playable on vlc how can i convert the movie into 2d

There are now a bunch of them out there. Do a Google search for "mac 3D conversion" They tend to be around $35. I have been using iSkysoft products, which have been fairly easy to use. They have a "iMedia Converter Deluxe for Mac" that besides the 3D to 2D conversion, will also convert video to 70+ formats, has a 1-Click Video Downloader, and a single click Rip DVD and Burn to DVDs feature. Also claims to be "Ultrafast" all for the same price others apps are that only do the conversion.

Haven't really used any of them including VLC - actually use netflix on the ipad more than anything. I was able to drop an mp4 into imovie on my ipad and see it there. This was something I had shot as avhcd and converted with turbo.264. Played fine. Probably not what you want for a movie player though.
Well, turbo.264 is indeed very nice to have - even for converting full-sized movies. (Nevertheless, TechRadar's latest roundup (see http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/6-of-the-best-video-converte rs-for-mac-1074303 ; also linked from another roundup at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/benchmark-excellent-multimedia-converter-handb rake-vs-commercial-apps ) has shown it's still worse than HandBrake in most respects.)
All H.264 files (assuming they are H.264 level 4.1 or lower) are compatible with the built-in Videos app.

Those of you who use other players, what do you reccomend? Just curious.
It entirely depends on your needs. The top players (AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer, It's Playing, GoodPlayer) all have different strengths and weaknesses. I myself use It's Playing the most as I convert everything into MP4 and simply love the DSP's (brightness / volume / saturation boosting). (Its software decoders are definitely worse than those of AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer; however, MP4's are played back from hardware.)

  • Convert a movie from Quicktime to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip

I want to convert a movie from Quicktime (.mov) which I created in Final Cut Express to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip to be able to see it on my Samsung TV. The problem is that the uncompressed movie, comverted only from Quicktome to MPEG 4, stops almost every moment on my Samsung TV. I have connected an external harddrive in NTFS there via USB 2.0 (Samsung TV cannot play movies in HFS etc.). The uncompressed movies are bigger than 4GB in Quicktime.
    http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201112/20111208190112921/Web_GSDVBE UA_GER.pdf
I ask here how to use MPEG streamclip (free version; I use 1.9.2) so convert my movies into MPEG 4 so that I cann watch it on my Samsung TV.
I filled out "Bildrate" "30" but this did not work. I have chosen less quality but there are still - less - interruptions and I find it laborious to test different versions of less quality so that it might work.
I ask you also because I want to create my movies to give it to other people via the internet (f.i. via rapidshare) but I need a smaller size of my movies and do not know all the different TVs my friends have. I cannot imagine that it is not possible to create a movie in MPEG 4 that cannot be seen in many TVs via an external harddrive?

I know that I can do that also in FCE. It takes much more time to convert a movie into MPEG4 than to export it as uncompressed movie in QuickTime which I can use f.i. in iDVD to burn a DVD or watch it on my MBP.
But I don't know the versions of TVs of other people if I want to send them the movie via internet f.i. via mydrive.ch etc. which have limited space if used for free. So which settings to choose for an output in MPEG4?
For my one use it is o.k. if the movie can be seen correctly in MPEG4 on my TV but I can also watch it via my MBP on my TV via HDMI.

Hi, Your Flash files are all correct for IE. I'm sure they are also for FF, since Flash Player is working.
What you can try is something that has helped other users and maybe this will help you with IE. Try turning off the User Account Control and then Restart your computer and see if IE is working now.
Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety.
and then clicking User Accounts. Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn
      off UAC, then click OK.
Let me know whenever you can, no hurry.

  • Can't get the Videora iPod Converter to convert the movies!

When I go to convert the movie they ask me to put the file in so i go to browse and then the movie and click Video TS and a crap load of more files come up. On other programs I have used just accept the Video TS but they were only trials.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Videora is horrible buggy software that should be avoided.
If you insist on using it-I beleive you need another program to convert DVD's or files it thinks are DVD's.
On a mac-handbrake(now media fork)is all you would need. It's free and works perfectly( at least for me).
For windows-there are 2 recommended pay for programs I have heard of, DVD shrink and DVDfab(does conversion if you buy platinum version).
    Good luck.

I converted the movie, but no sound
the movie was converted from mpg. to m4v.
    any reason?
btw, to convert 3 minutes of video takes like 30 minutes!

I have started using HandBreak to convert my DVDs.
I am currently using the Linux command line version and wrote a script to mass convert all my DVDs and its doing a really good job and taking about 1/2-3/4 hour to convert 1 DVD.
There are windows and mac versions of the program too.

Is is possible to convert the movies purchased on itunes to DVD? (In other words you would be burning the movie or tv shows to a blank DVD).

You can store just what you want on the external. Just set up folders for what you want. I have a music folder, movies and TV shows, and pictures folders. I also have mine partitioned for OSX and Windows. I have a few files I need if I am running on windows so I keep them on the windows side. I always keep a back up of my documents and a few other files it is a pain to download on the external.
You can also copy every folder and file on your machine to the external if it is big enough. This is a true copy not a back up file generated by a back up program. I like to do this if I get adventuresome and plan to do some major experimenting with my software. Saves having to reload everything if it crashes.
