Converting a pdf online to word produces only garbage!!

converting a pdf online to word produces only garbage!!
One page becomes to pages and sections float all OVER the place.
There are plenty of complaints of adobe online NOT working - Adobe what do you do apart form offering crap online software.

Hi 5dock,
I'm sorry that the ExportPDF service isn't meeting your expectations. The quality of the conversion is very dependent on the quality of the original PDF. Some applications produce more well-structured PDFs than others.
That said, what happens when you disable OCR as described here: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel? Does that produces a better looking Word document?

Sara

  • I am converting a PDF to a Word Doc and it is not converting our logo or any handwritten notes to the new document

I am trying to convert a PDF to a Word Document.  I have only recently started using this item so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  When the PDF document is converted to the Word doc it is not converting any symbols, logos or handwritten items.  For example I have a sign letter of intent with a signature that I am trying to convert from a PDF to a word document and the signature does not appear on the word doc.

    Hi judyf73891847,
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm not surprised that ExportPDF is having a hard time converting handwriting. One option is to disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Then, ExportPDF won't try to convert those elements into editable text. The only drawback to that is that you won't be able to edit those items when you open the converted document in Word.

  • Converting from PDF to MS Word back to PDF

We have documents that are in PDF that need to be updated.  We have discovered that when converting from PDF to MS Word and then back to PDF - the formatting is lost in the process.
Is there a way to maintain the formatting?  Or, can you edit directly in PDF?  Or - will we have to create all new master MS Word documents for future updates?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    David Jenkins

You should create master documents in WORD for all documents that you want to update. If you use PDF Maker, the conversion back is a bit more smooth since the structure information is included in the PDF as tags. However, the PDF make end up bloated as a result. You should consider a PDF the electronic equivalent of a piece of paper. If you were to correct paper you would use white-out. If you were to convert it back to WORD, you would scan it, OCR and hopefully have a reasonable result in WORD. You can typically do better with a PDF than with paper, but the concept is still the same. You should never consider creating a PDF as a master document, but always keep the original.
What needs to be done now (if someone deleted all of the originals) is to convert them back and then fix the formating and such. Graphics will typically convert back OK, but maybe not in exactly the way you wanted. Sometimes, you can use export all images (Advanced>Document Processing in AA8) to save the images in the quality you might like.
Editing can be done in a PDF, but should only be for minor corrections. Sometimes, even the minor corrections are a pain. In such cases, you should always work on a copy so you can always go back.
So the answers to what you asked are: 1) with PDF Maker, but not perfect; 2) minor edits, possibly painful; 3) You should create all new master WORD documents and not delete them in the future - not required, but a best route.

  • When I convert my pdf doc to word, the fonts go really weird and it also puts some text into boxes. when I try to select the test and change the font, it does not change it properly?

When I convert my pdf doc to word, the fonts go really weird and it also puts some text into boxes. when I try to select the text and change the font, it does not change it properly? This is making it impossible to amend.

    Hi Janedance1,
If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)
Please let us know how it goes.

  • When converting a PDF document to word, the word count feature is not giving me the number of words

I have been using Acrobat for converting PDF documents to Word.  It had been working just fine, but lately, when I convert a PDF document to Word, it is not giving me the word count, which is why I subscribed in the first place. Someone has any idea of why?

    Hi Robin,
I would recommend you to use Acrobat software to convert this pdf file, Acrobat software enable you to customize the conversion settings.
You can download a free 30-day trial from this Link : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html
After downloading and installing acrobat, Open pdf file in Acrobat, go to File menu -> Click 'save as other' -> Microsoft Word -> Word Document.
A pop-up window will appear that would prompt you to choose the file to be converted, after you select the file, click on the settings button on the bottom left of the pop-up window and choose 'Retain Page layout' under layout settings, click ok and then save.
Hope that helps with your query.

Just converted a PDF document to Word, none of the graphics from the PDF file show up in the Word document?

    Hi jackp52432917,
How was that PDF file created? Please see  Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community
It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?
