Converting a PDF to a SWF Font issues

Hi,
Maybe somebody out there has seen this and can guide me in
the right direction?
I am trying to convert PDF files into a flash book using the
flashprinter product.
Here is an example of the PDF I am trying to convert. (you
should see it is using the
following fonts PostScript Fonts - HelveticaNeue-HeavyCond,
HelveticaNeue-LightCond, HelveticaNeue-LightCondObl,
NewsGothic and NewsGothic-Bold).
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/FontProblems.pdf
When this gets converted to the Swf (LOOK at the file ZOOM+
Mode)
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/EZBlue_v11t.swf?RRDid=aFC3tehrg1VGCUIylKIQ
Once I saw what was happening I thought it was a font issue
and I made up a page with all the fonts used by using the ATM
sample viewer.
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/AllFontsUsed.pdf
(Look at the SWF file in the ZOOM + mode view - looks great)
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/EZBlue_v11t.swf?RRDid=6J5LSHAZKnf9qPXa1VGk
If anybody out there can help that would be great,
thanks,
Swf_trying

Hey Joseph,
Please tell me whether you are able to convert any other PDF file to excel format or not?
What exact error message do you get?
Are you trying to convert a scanned PDF document?
Hope to hear from you.

Anubha

  • Converting a pdf document with devnagari font

Is it possible to convert a devnagari pdf to devnagari word in krutidev010 font?

    Hi!
Can you send us a copy of the PDF via our File Conversion Issue Form so we can take a look? It would be helpful in that form to include a link to this Forum discussion as well. We can then take a look and let you know. Thanks!

  • PDF and OTF (Postscript) font issue (is there a PDF validation tool?)

    Greetings all,
I am experiencing a problem uploading any documents, which include embedded OTF (Postscript) fonts, to a Cloud based collaboration tool called Crocodoc. The problem/failure appears to occur during the document conversion from PDF to HTML5. It is important to note that this problem is not specific to Crocodoc because I have tested others (i.e. Zoho).
The problem is specifically with Madcap Flare and its recent support for OTF fonts. This is how I arrived at this conclusion:
    - Changing the embedded font to TTF only, the published PDF uploads to Crocodoc without incident.
    - It is not the OTF font. I have also tested this particular OTF font with other publication tools, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Framemaker; there were no issues.
    Other facts:
    - PDF files appear to function normally. It is only when I upload to Crocodoc-like apps when the problem manifests itself.
I subscribe to the Creative Cloud but Adobe Acrobat doesn't seem to have any validation functionality.
But here are some other tests that I have done:
    - Opened the malfunctioning PDF into Acrobat (no apparent issues)
      > Saved as optimized with all discard options turned on plus I ran the sanitize option. The new saved PDF still failed to upload.
      > Removed ALL text and saved a blank page. Still failed to upload to Crocodoc
      > As a verification, I created a PDF page (from clipboard) with Acrobat and saved that (one line of font using OTF font) - This successfully uploaded to Crocodoc.
      > VERY INTERESTING...using Acrobat to CONVERT the problem PDF to eps and then eps back to PDF - This PDF uploaded successfully to Crocodoc.
BUT there is something 'wrong' with Adobe Acrobat's conversion because it only converts the first page back into a PDF. WHAT?
Conclusion, as long as the PDF originated in Flare, it will fail to upload to Crocodoc. However, converting the document to .eps and then back to a PDF seems to have stripped away the 'bad' stuff.
What I am trying to learn is what exactly is causing the upload and conversion error?
Is there a PDF validation tool and might identify what is causing this conversion problem?
Sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone had the patience to read this and has an idea.
    Thank you

    Hello TSN,
    Test Screen Name wrote:
Picking just one point: PDF -> EPS -> PDF. This could not possibly do more than one page, because EPS is absolutely by definition a single page format. Therefore you must choose a page when exporting PDF to EPS.
    Thanks for your response.
I was thinking Microsoft... which has allowed multi-page eps files for years. But you're correct, this is normally an unsupported .eps format.
I solved the problem over the weekend by doing the following:
    1) I removed the suspect OTF font family but despite doing so, the folder still had two 'corrupted' but unused copies of an italic font. They refused to remove so I had to boot into Win7 SAFE mode to remove.
    2) After complete removal of the OTF font family. I reinstalled the OTF font *BUT* only from a different repository (oddly, this other OTF font set is slightly larger per font).
    3) Once installed, I tested with Flare, published and uploaded to Crocodoc SUCCESSFULLY. Yeah!
I don't have anymore time to test but the questions remain, such as, was it one or more of the following issues:
    a) Flare has a problem handling some OTF fonts or cannot error correct (the way other programs do) for marginal fonts or font errors?
    b) Was it the two corrupted fonts in the Windows/fonts folder?
    c) Was it the slightly different OTF fonts that I am no longer using?
    Take care

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.

  • Convert to PDF w/out the font changing

When I convert my word doc into PDF using Adobe, the font changes from Futura LT to Helvetica. How can I convert to PDF without the font changing?
I need it to be Futura and Adobe apparently does not have that font.

Use the Press or Print job settings. They try to embed all fonts. I am assuming the font can be embedded (is licensed for that).

  • Converting a PDF file to Word format issue

I am using Adobe Reader XI 11.0.09 with the paid side bar to convert the pdf file to an editable Word 2007 format. The problem is that the formatting after conversion is really bad and getting worse, example of the most recient: "I n  a cont ingent circumstance, an effect  results  from  clearly definable causes, t hough t he effect could be  different, given an entirel y  possible and  different interrelation of  causes. In   short, a  contingent  event   or thi ng is a nonnecessa ry event or thi ng tha t either might  not  exist or could  be other than it is."
The conversion in the past was never this bad and I was hoping it was some setting but I have not found a way to tweak the settings in the converter. I have converted many pdf files and had no problems with the outcome of the conversion until recently.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do i convert a PDF file in word that is written in Hebrew is that possible?

Before I sign up for the paid version of PDF - I would like to know if it is even possible to convert a PDF file with Hebrew fonts into word ? And be able to change the words and what is written after the conversion in WORD????  Thank you!

Is this a scanned document? To check, try and copy/paste text from the document using Adobe Reader. Do you get
    - nothing at all (nothing selected)
    - the Hebrew you want
    - mangled Hebrew (wrong order, wrong accents, wrong letter forms?)
    - complete rubbish characters?
The answer to this may help us understand whether ExportPDF will work for you.

  • Font issue when creating PDF from web page with Acrobat 8

I have a group of documents created with html/css that i am converting to pdf. Everything works slick except for some reason every HTML page that spans more than one printable page in the PDF the first page body text looks bold, the rest of the text (on the subsequent pages) is not. I have 15 documents linked together and its doing it for everyone one, first page looks bold rest of pages not.
I have checked all the font attributes in both the pdf and the html, there is nothing set to bold and all fonts have the exact same settings...
Does anyone know what is going on? I am pretty green with Acrobat but not new to web tech.
    What am I missing here?
Also when printed it looks fine, no issues, issues only in screen view...
    HELP!!
    Thanks
    Scott

It may be that the page sizes are varying and you are seeing a zoom affect. Try setting the size to a specific value and see if it looks the same. That's a guess anyway.

  • Issue with document text - converting from PDF to Word

I have used Adobe Reader in the past with no issues.  Today, I tried to convert a PDF to a word document.  It worked, but the text all changed to wingdings font (even though it says it is Calibri).  Any suggestions?

    Hi marleighp23001196,
Are you facing this issue with a specific file or with other word files too?

  • Smartform in PDF - Font Issue

    Hi All,
I created a smartform and got the PDF output of the same
    using the function module FOPC_REPORT_SHOW_PDF.
I created a smartstyle using Arial Font (REgular, Size 12)
and I have used this smartstyle in the smartform.
When I displayed the smartform in OTF format I am able to see the exact font maintained in the smartstyle. But when the smartform is converted to PDF; the PDF o/p always displays the default font which is Courier/12.
Can anyone help me in resolving the issue.
    <u>Additional Info</u>
I got the device type (PDF1) using the function module SSF_GET_DEVICE_TYPE and used the device type in the smartform display. When checked in Se73 this device type supports the Arial Font; but this font in SE73 is marked by a yellow line.
    Regards,
    Mathi

    Hi,
You can try this as alternative.
    SmartForms Output to PDF
There is a way to download smartform in PDF format.
    Please do the following:
    1. Print the smartform to the spool.
    2. Note the spool number.
    3. Download a PDF file (Acrobat Reader) version of the spool by running Program RSTXPDFT4 and entering the
    noted spool number.
    feel free to revert back.

  • Word2007 to PDF conversion FONT issue!

I converted My 181 Page Word Document to PDF through the
    PDFmaker(acrobat 9 pro)embeded into word2007. Everything Went
    smooth almost a 1:1 replica.
The one issue I am having is that I noticed the PDFmaker did
not convert my Font properly, as I will explain in more detail
    below.
My document has a total of 4 different fonts used. Below are
the 2 fonts, 1 of which did not convert properly.
    PalladioURWTOT-Medium
    PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic (conversion Problem)
(side note these are open type fonts)
You see the main text used in my document is
"PalladioURWTOT-Medium" all the text files in that font came out
100% fine the problem occurs with the Italicize ones. in M$ Word
when you want to Italicize that font you click the "Italic icon".
When you do this word uses the "PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" font .
So in other words technically there are 2 different fonts, as the
Italicize version gives the font a very different look cause it's
    using a specific font.
Now here is where the problem lies when I converted the PDF,
it seems the PDF maker looked at all the
"PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" fonts and instead made them
"PalladioURWTOT-Medium" and then adobe went and slanted the font
trying to iItalicize it. It therefore does not look at all like the
original "PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" and now I am at a loss as to
what I can do in order to get Acrobat to recognize this.
Here is what I assume is happing. I noticed in word when I
have a the Font selected in it says "PalladioURWTOT-Medium" as the
selected font, of course as you can see below i have the Italic
icon selected as well. Word2007 does not allow you to selected the
actual name PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic since it already
understands that when you hit the icon that it will automatically
    use the italic font.
    Example
    in WORD
    here is a
    "PNG
Image" I made to illustrate the issue i am having with the
fonts used and what supposedly happened
ANy help or suggestions would be very much appreciated as
this Issue has really cause some serious problems for me.

  • Indesign CS4 - Export to SWF and font issue

    Hello,
How do you embed a font in an Indesign CS4 document when you are going to export it to an SWF file?
I have an Indesign CS4 document that uses a particular font.  This document is then exported to an SWF file which is then uploaded in our intranet website.  When users view the internal website, the SWF font uses a different font like Times New Romans.  I do not get this issue because I have the particular font used in that document installed on my machine.
Are there any work arounds for this issue other than distributing the font used in that exported SWF file?

InDesign should embedd fonts by default when exported to swf... may be you have some protected font in use? do you have problems with other fonts too? Quick and dirty workaround is convert your text to outlines... not good one but fast...

  • My Trade Gothic LT STD font doesn't convert to PDF. Other fonts convert but not this one.

This is issue came up when i upgraded to quickbooks 2012 from 2009. I always converted invoices to PDF without problem. But now my data fields using a font that i purhcased won't appear in PDF format. i can change the font of the data fields to Times New Roman and it will appear, but not with Trade Gothic LT STD. The font apperas in the font properties of the PDF file and it says it is embedded subset. This font works in all other windows and microsoft programs and even appears in the print preview. But it dissappears once i convert to PDF.

understand that this may not be the right forum. I've tried many other avenues seeking an answer so i figured i should try this one. I'm using Quickbooks to create invoices. The font shows up in Quickbooks in the print preview but once converted to PDF, the font dissapears. This problem began when i upgraded from 2009 to the 2012 version. The old version used Quickbooks PDF converter for the conversion; the new version uses Microsoft XPS document writer for the conversion (as i understand). I can change the font in quickbooks to TIMES NEW ROMAN, and it will appear. So i think its something with the converter or the font itself. Already tried quickbooks PDF utility, removing/reinstalling XPS writer, some other Intuit suggestions but nothing. I attemted to delete the font and reinstall but it wouldn't let me delete. Desperate for a resolution.

Also used these reports RSTXPDFT4, RSTXPDF2UC, it does not work.
How can I solve this issue?
    Many Thanks

    Hi,Aidan,
        Thanks,
Sorry, the option CJK_USE_BOLD_IT does not exist in report RSTXPDF3 when I run this report.
I found only CJK_SMALL_FONT such as u2018CJK*u2019 in my system.
Is there a way to add CJK_USE_BOLD_IT?
When I check RSTXPDF3,I found all the options are hard copy in RSTXPDF3 list by Constants.
