Converting a PDF to DOC. Formatting is lost. Help!
Hi all,
I have a PDF file that I need to convert to a DOC. I have tried "exporting" it and simply "save as". It works, but all the formatting disappears. It's a one-page document, but it has a lot of form fields requiring filling in by pen. Basically, a lot of boxes... I can upload the PDF file to the web if someone needs to look at it, but the bottom line is that I just need to know how to turn this into a DOC file, but leave it exactly the way it is.
I am using Acrobat Pro 8.1.3. Thanks in advance for any help!
Chris
The problem is that the Acrobat format is substantially different from WORD and the conversion back is far from trivial and not what Acrobat was designed for. If the tags are included, you can often get pretty good results since they explain the structure to AA. I have had limited success in the past by saving to a HTML document and opening that in WORD. The results also varied with the HTML version used.

How to download a page in pdf or doc format
Hi,
I want to download a content of page in pdf or doc format through a button.
How can I acheive it.
I created a salary page and now want to download this page directly in pdf or doc format, how to do it.
Using Peopltools 8.49
PS HRMS 9.0
plz help.
Many thanks...The entire solution would be too large and complex to post. Here are some pointers to get you going. One alternative is to use BI/XML Publisher to create the output document and launch it from a button on the page (PeopleCode and Derived/Work record). Another alternative is to use Apache POI to generate a doc and iText to generate PDF. Customers have used all of these approaches.

How can we create a plugin for Acrobat reader to convert a Pdf to Excel format?
Hi all,
I need to convert a pdf to excel format ! is it possible by a plugin in acrobat reader.
I know that it can be done with Acrobat Professional and i have to do the same with the Acrobat Reader?
Does the Acrobat Reader support file conversion plugins?
Sreejesh K VHi,
I don't know if Reader supports the onversion but you can easily check that : open an Excel file with Reader and check the result.
With Acrobat Pro when you open a document using Acrobat then it's automatically converted. If this functionality is supported with Reader you will have the same behavior.
Once it's supported you just have to open your document using Acrobat.exe (or Reader.Exe)
My mistake I understood the opposite. To check that Acrobat Reader support the conversion you just have to check in the Reader interface.

Time Out Issue When Converting from PDF to .doc or .dox format
I have a couple of PDF documents that I'm trying to convert to word doc (doc or dox) format. I subscribe to the online Adobe Export PDF. The export always times out. The PDF is 18.08 MB. Does anyone have have any suggestions?
Hi riversideredhead63,
Are you able to convert other PDFs without issue? Here are a few things to try for starters:
Clear your browser cache (steps vary by browser).
If you're using a work computer, check with your IT team to confirm if you have firewall/proxy settings that restrict the ability to upload files to the Internet.
Try another web browser. A list of supported browsers for accessing the ExportPDF service is available here: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/
If those don't work, please get back to us. It would be helpful to know what sort of content is in the PDF file that you're trying to convert, and what application created the PDF. (If you don't know, choose File > Properties in Reader. The source application is listed in the middle of the dialog box.)
I look forward to hearing back from you.

When I convert my PDFs into docs they are unreadable, formatting is messed up
When I convert my PDFx into docs they are unreadable and formatting is messed up.
Why pay $22 for a product that does not work?
Can this situation be remedied; how can I make it work? The only thing that comes close is ExportPDF at $19.99 (with tax that could be about right) but it's an online subscription.
If that turns out to be what you have you'll want to take this to the ExportPDF forum rather than here.
It's at http://forums.adobe.com/community/exportpdf

Convert rtf, pdf or doc file to xml or html
I'm using RichTextEditor from Flex, but I need to
upload a .doc, .pdf or .rtf file into RichTextEditor. Or maybe a
way to convert these files to xml or html.... please can you help
me??Flex has no inherent functionality to do doc conversions. You
are also looking for the ability to convert several different file
types that might require seperate conversion methods. Also, it is
important to note that Flex does not have very good HTMl
functionality. In fact, it has a very limited subsed of HTML tags
that are allowable and also require some distinct formatting
requirements. So, if you are trying to convert PDF's and Docs, RTF
etc, you might have a difficult time trying to get them to diosplay
in the Flex RTE.
I have struggled with trying to get a good PDF converter for
multiple file types. Adobe does have some good server side
utilities, but budget might be an issue.
You can find several PDF converters that are server based
that you migth be able to leverage.
If you are CF user, Scorpio does have a better integration
with PDF and LiveCycle services that may help when it is released.
Good Luck.

Problem converting from pdf to doc (encrypted or corrupt file?)
Hi everyone.
I need to convert my resume (pdf) to doc so I can make a couple of edits, and then convert it back to pdf. Problem is, I can't seem to do it. I first tried straight from the program in adobe by saving the file as a doc, but the file formating was way too screwed up when I did that.
So, I then googled around, and found zamzar.com. I tried that site, but kept getting conversion errors which said "file may be encrypted, password protected, or corrupt". I don't have any passwords or encryptions on it, so I tried downloading other conversion programs, but I kept getting the same types of errors.
I checkd the "security properties" for the file, and I don't have anything. I also don't know how the file could be corrupt since I don't have any issues viewing it, and when I sent it to my friend via email, he was able to open it, too.
Ihave recently been using Acrobat 9 pro extended version that I downloaded as a torrent from a reputable person. I just wanted to get a feel for the program, but maybe this is the problem, since any pdf I've saved since I began using it, seems to have that conversion issue, but I figure there has to be a workaround. I really don't know what the issue is, or how I can solve it, and so I'm stumped.
Any suggestions would be really great.
Thanks a lot. This is a good read for anyone attempting to convert a PDF to a Word document...

Merci,
LHi Lambthie,
In order to convert the PDF to Excel with images, you can use Adobe Acrobat XI. More more information on this, please refer to the link mentioned below:
http://www.adobe.com/in/products/acrobat/pdf-to-excel-xlsx-converter.html
To test the functionality of Acrobat XI, you can also download and install the trial version which is fully functional and valid for 30 days. To download trial version, please follow the link mentioned below:

I'm trying to convert a pdf to doc for mac and I have already downloaded acrobat 11?
I just downloaded and installed acrobat 11 for my mac. Trying to convert a pdf to a doc but can't figure it out. The pdf I am trying to convert says I need acrobat 9 and is not letting me. Any ideas what I can do?
Yes, it is Acrobat Pro 11.
Just a pdf
It is saying this "This document does not allow you to save any changes you have made to it unless you are using Adobe Acrobat 9, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, or Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9. You will only be saving a copy of the original document. Do you want to continue?" -
Are the how-to's in pdf or doc format?
Hi.
Do you have a copy of the how-to's in pdf or in doc format I can download so I can study while off-line?
Thanks.
EmadEmad,
All How-Tos are in HMTL. You can still print them out from a browser.
Thanks,

Can the online PDF converter convert secure PDFs to Word format?
I have a PDF with copy protection set. Will the online PDF converter still convert it to Word format?
Amplifying George's reply:
Will Adobe ExportPDF convert any type of PDF file?
Adobe ExportPDF will convert the vast majority of PDF files available today, including PDF files containing scanned documents.
There are a few types of PDF files that cannot be converted, however.
These include, but are not limited to,
PDF Portfolios,
PDF files that require a password to open the document, or
PDF files that have permissions applied to prevent copying, or altering of the content.
ExportPDF is also not capable of converting hand-written documents to Microsoft Office, due to the non-standard nature of each individual's handwriting.

The problem is that report has 15 columns . All these 15 columns are displayed in the PDF format but they are minimized . I need to zoom 200% to see all the columns .
Is there a way it can be printed in Landscape format ??
Any suggestions ?
