Converting a PDF to Excel

I just paid for a subscription so I could convert PDF files to Excel. The first file I tried to convert (an Excel file that was converted to PDF) came out a jumbled mess. Help!

Hi cldrnkr67,
Does the excel file contain images?
Are you facing the issue with other excel files as well?
Regards,
Rave

    Hi wesm34245063,
Here's a quick tutorial on using the ExportPDF online service to convert PDF files to Excel: Getting Started with ExportPDF | Adobe Community.
I think that you'll find it's pretty easy, but if you do run into questions/issues, please let us know.

  • How do I maintain column formatting when converting from PDF to Excel?

How do I maintain column formatting when converting from PDF to Excel? All info is no longer on the lines or in the columns they started out being in? Any help would be appreciated.

    Sara,
Perhaps I am expecting too much from Adobe ExportPDF. The reason I subscribed to this service, for which I pay a yearly fee, was that I need a way to  convert scanned and digital documents to Word &/or Excel. I read the link you included but to be candid the more I tried to understand what was written the more confused I got. The process should not be this difficult. Currently I am using a NEAT scanner to create PDF documents of whatever I scan. After I changed the OCR setting on Adobe ExportPDF the output was much better but not to the point it was usable as it was. Information that appears to be lines and columns are sometimes not recognizing two columns and just putting them together in one. Obviously not usable. The other thing it does is bunch numbers that appear in a column that are just a bunch of numbers that I have no way of fixing.
Please let me speak to someone who can help me. Right now I not getting anything of value in my paid subscription.

  • How can we create a plugin for Acrobat reader to convert a Pdf to Excel format?

    Hi all,
I need to convert a pdf to excel format ! is it possible by a plugin in acrobat reader.
I know that it can be done with Acrobat Professional and i have to do the same with the Acrobat Reader?
Does the Acrobat Reader support file conversion plugins?
    Sreejesh K V

    Hi,
I don't know if Reader supports the onversion but you can easily check that : open an Excel file with Reader and check the result.
With Acrobat Pro when you open a document using Acrobat then it's automatically converted. If this functionality is supported with Reader you will have the same behavior.
Once it's supported you just have to open your document using Acrobat.exe (or Reader.Exe)
My mistake I understood the opposite. To check that Acrobat Reader support the conversion you just have to check in the Reader interface.

    Joe

  • Convert to PDF from Excel so that it is indexable by SharePoint search

    Hi there,
This is a hybrid question between Acrobat and SharePoint and I'll post on both forums....
    Background:
In a fairly complex application we have a publishing server that utilizes Acrobat to convert Office documents to PDF using the Convert to PDF functionality.
We then publish that PDF to a library in SharePoint.  We would like to have those published PDFs searchable by SharePoint search.  Unfortunately there is something about these PDFs where SharePoint cannot crawl the content.
Note:  I do realize that PDFs are not indexable by SharePoint out of the box and I have installed and configured the iFilter utility.  I have been able to index and search for other PDFs, so I know the mechanism works.  It just seems to be these particular PDFs.
I have also manually "Saved as PDF" directly from Word/Excel and those PDFs are crawled by SharePoint....it just seems to be when Acrobat does its conversion.  I'm sure it's just a simple configuration somewhere... I just don't know what I'm looking for.
Another note:  When I open the published PDFs, I am able to use Acrobat's search to find the text.... and the text is selectable; so it's not as if the conversion changed it to an image.
So....would anyone happen to have encountered this issue?  Or does anyone know what makes a PDF indexable by SharePoint search?
    Thanks in advance

This cannot be done on a Mac. If you need to continue this discussion, please post in the Acrobat Macintosh forum.

  • Converting scanned PDF to Excel

I have tried to convert a scanned PDF to Excel but find the columns and rows are all jumbled and do not reflect the original document.
I am using a Mac with MS Office 2011
    Any help appreciated.
    KJ

    Hi Keith,
I apologize for the trouble. I'd like to assist!
Was the original document excel prior to becoming a PDF? Unfortunately scans can be a challenge due to the converting not having actual 'text' to grasp onto.
If you would like you can send your PDF to me: [email protected] and I can take a look for you?
    Kind regards, Stacy
