Converting a pdf with double-pg spreads to single-pg spreads

I created a pdf from an InDesign file to have facing, double-page spreads. Now, I no longer have the InDesign file and need to change my pdf from having double-page spreads to single pages. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

I've done this when I have created a ledger-size factsheet or newsletter for print, then needed to create a letter-size version for availability on the web.  Start with the spread that contains the page which you would like to appear first.  Extract it and name it as a new file.  Crop the page from the side that contains the portion of the double-spread that you don't want to appear.  [You can save on file size if you delete graphic elements on the side which you are cropping.]  Then go back to the original PDF and bring over the page which should come second, crop it, and so on.  When all finished, be sure to "Save As..." in order to minimize file-size.

  • I just purchased Adobe and it converted my pdf with symbols, spaces, and blank "context Not readable"

    Hello,
I purchased abode and it isn't converting my pdf into Word. It made gaps, symbols, columns bleed into the other column, and some blank context. I thought acrobat was included. Here is an example below. Let me know if this will be fixed? I don't want to pay for something that isn't working correctly.
    Thanks,

  • Pagination with Double page spreads?

Having a little issue; Normally I do my page numbers manually (insane I Know, but I usually do very small books so it doesn't matter too much), but I am working on a very large book and doing it manually is out of the question.
I am inserting a Special Character textbox,to start from page 3, however , I have designed each A4 page in InDesign to be 2 pages in the book format (so A5 book pages). I want InDesign to realise this but I am having trouble. I have tried pasting my automatic pagination textbox (Even trying to set it to 'Display previous page') but it is not having it.
How Can I work around this. I've attached an image incase this doesn't make sense (which i'm sure it won't! )
Here's a link to the pic: You can see that my A4 InDesign Pages have 2 A5 pages fitted on, but InDesign sees it as the same page # (understandably). I need one of them to display 'PREVIOUS PAGE'. So I can paste in place on every page.

    Hope you can help, thanks!

You would work around this by not doing that way.
InDesign doesn't work for this; the usual way to get "double page spreads" is to make single pages. That's why there is a checkbox "Facing Pages" in the New Document dialog -- pages are viewed as they will be printed, and still they are separate.
Unfortunately, your current way of working is so off course that there is no easy way to "convert" your spreads to regular pages. It might be less work to bite the bullet, accept the consequences of Not Looking Ahead, and number (once again) by hand.

  • Lost option to combinein/convert to pdf with right click

I am running windows xp and
have acrobat 6.0 pro as well as reader x on my machine.  I used to be able to h
ighlight then right click and have the option to combine in pdf or convert to pdf(for non pdf files) that
has suddently disappeared.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Good day pdirocco,
While it's not recommended to have Acrobat 6.0 and Reader X installed on the same computer, try the following:
Open a Command Prompt (Start > Run, type "cmd" (without quotes) and click enter)
Then type the following exactly as it appears here:
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu.dll"
Restart your system and check to see if the right-click contextual menu has returned.
    Kind regards,

Just click on the icon  then you will see the output . then select the menu path as below.
    Spoolrequest-> Forward-> Save to local

  • Word 2013 with text in front of a shape not converting to PDF with Acrobat XI

    Hello,
I have a Word 2013 document with Shapes (Insert > Shapes) in the background.  Text is in front of the shape, shapes are set behind the text.  I take the document to work where I have Win7, Word 2010 and Acrobat X Pro and it converts perfectly, with the text in front of the shape.  No problem. When I get home, it doesn't work.  At home I have Win7 64-bit, Word 2013 (x64) and Acrobat XI Pro (latest everything, all patches up to date) and when I create a PDF either through Word, right-clicking on the doc and choosing convert, or from Acrobat XI it doesn't display the text.  I get the shape, and it looks like can even highlight the text, but the text doesn't appear.
I just completely uninstalled both Acrobat XI and Acrobat Reader XI and then ran the latest Acrobat Cleaner (R2) and cleaned up both Acrobat and Reader.  Rebooted, installed Acrobat XI (no reader), updated with all the latest patches.  Still, the same problem with everything set to default.
Please explain how to make my life better.
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Found the problem.
Adobe, I found a BUG. I want a year of cookies.  Not the virtual type, I want real cookies.  Chocolate.  Maple.
    Word 2013 ...
Create a doc and put some sort of FIELD in the footer.  I used STYLEREF and choose a Style.  That's a very common thing to do for keeping the title of your document in the footer.
Now ... insert a SHAPE.  Make that shape sit BEHIND the text.
    DONE.
Create your PDF.  The text won't be visible.
    BUG.
    Cookies.

  • How do I convert a .pdf with columns into a word doc?

I know how to convert a regular .pdf to a word doc but when I try and convert one with columns it combines the columns as if it thinks it is all straight across lines with a big space in it.

In my experience, there's not much you can do outside of copying and pasting page by page.

Do I need to purchase a separate program?

  • Forcing Acrobat to display a PDF with an accuracy of a single pixel

This is a bit strange question, I didn't know where to put it...
I'm developing a program for creating a pdf from a GUI interface sample.
This means that I need to replicate what is in the GUI to the PDF EXACTLY. And when I say that I mean to the pixel.
Windows magnifier tool helps a lot, however, Acrobat (as Reader as well) does not draw everything to a pixel. It's not only due to the Acrobat, but drivers and some screen and display setting as well. That can't be helped. However, if I zoom in enough everything will be shown properly, but the bounds of the original pixels will be distorted...
Is there any way I can zoom in and somehow see where each pixel should be?

You can turn off smoothing in options, but that's about it. If the zoom factor is right AND of course if you make sure not to use lossy compression on the screen shots, then you should see a screen shot pretty much as the original screen.

  • How can I convert a .pdf to a single file HTML file in Acrobat 9 Pro?

I need to convert a .pdf with active links to a single file HTML file.  Any advice?

    LGINSB wrote:
Yes, but it's saving it with files associated.  I need it to be a single file version.  Thanks for the reply.
Of course it is. It sounds like what you want would be just a .jpg. Web pages are seldom ever just one file unless they are strictly text. More than likely you have some images (maybe even images of text) involved so you could never get one file.

  • HT1040 I am just about to order a 92 page book in Aperture and have previewed the order and found that in the PFD file I get all the pages are now different. Double page spreads are now on 2 different pages when viewed in 2 up continuous mode in Adobe Rea

I am just about to order quite an expensive 92 page large size  book in Aperture & have used the Preview button and on viewing the book in the PDF using the 2 up continuous viewing mode  I find that the page arrangement is all wrong with double page spreads now on separate pages and all my carefully designed pages in the wrong places. Will the book actually get printed like this? Regards,Keith

How did you create the preview of the book? It will look exactly like shown, when you press "Buy Book", then "Preview Book". This will open the Preview of you book in the "Preview" application. Set this to "Two-page mode". Then you should be able to see your double page spreads correctly, like here:

  • PDF with XFA elements

how do i convert a pdf with XFA elements to word?

    Something to try.
    Open with LCD.
    Save as "static" PDF.
    Close out of LCD.
Launch Acrobat XI Pro - Open PDF - Save As Other to MS Word.
Or, having subscribed to Adobe's online service (PDF Pack or ExportPDF) sign in to your subscription and send the PDF through the pipe.
Or, print to paper. Scan then use Acrobat or the appropriate online service (perhaps PDF Pack) to get an OCR'd PDF.
Then export to a Word file via Acrobat or the online service.
    Be well...
