Converting an entire folder structure with images to jpeg, intact with folder structure.

Hi!
I have a rather large folder structure consisting of images dating all the way back to when I got my first digital camera in '98.
The images are captured with a variety of cameras over the years and also includes image types processed with software. It's an almost 1,5 terabytes holy mixture of CR2, ARW, JPEG, PSD, PSB, TIFF, HDR and probably more that i forgot. However all of the formats can be read by photoshop/bridge. The file structure is /YYYYMMDD/file.ext. Converting the files folder by folder using the standard Image processor feature in bridge/photoshop is not really an option, considering the size of the structure.
What I am trying to do is to convert the entire structure to .jpeg, both for backup purposes and also for being able to view all the images on devices other than my computer. It's important that the raw files are converted with their respecive .xmp adjustments applied.
Is there any possible way to achieve this? I don't have lightroom, but if it can do this I will purchase it. Maybe some other image managment applications, like ACDSee, can do this?
If someone know of any applications or (photoshop) scripts that can do this, or have any tips for me it is *HIGHLY* appreciated!

Paul Riggott: T-H-A-N-K-S!
The Russell Brown script is exactly what I needed, couldnt ask for anything better. I tried it out for a test run on a folder with 10 subfolders containing various file types and it recreated the folder structure complete with jpegs on another disk. The script have lots of useful options for converting, naming, color space conversion and much more.
The one small thing to take note of, if others are reading this, is that you have to open the script in Photoshop in order to to process entire folder structures (including subfolders). If you launch the script from Bridge, it will only let you process single files and not folders.
Again, you really made my day with this tip. Thanks

  • Error when importing entire folder with many logs

    Hi,
I came across an error when trying to import an entire folder containing 118 logs (total size 63 MB), created by and imported to Signal Express 2012 (version 6.0.0).
After about 80 of them have been imported without problem the error, shown in the attached file, is displayed.
The remaining log files can be opened one by one after SE have been restarted so there are apparently no problems with the files.
My path to the folder containing the log files are 81 characters long. I also tried a shorter path with only 9 characters but it didn't help.
Seems like it's a bug in SE. Is there a workaround?

    Hi JockeR,
The error message indicates that at least one TDMS file in your log folder was not generated by SignalExpress. SignalExpress 2012 can only import TDMS files generated by SignalExpress itself.
There is a utility on ni.com which can convert the non-SignalExpress TDMS into SignalExpress TDMS. Check it out here:

Two days ago, I loaded Light Room 6. Today I went back to Light Room 5. LR 6 corrupted an entire folder of images, and caused errors on my Raid 5 causing win 7 to run "Chk Dsk" and fix the errors to the operating system. LR 5 has not shut down for the last 5 hours. LR 6 has a serious bug. Anyone else experiencing this problem. Yesterday I was on tech support, waiting for 3 hours, finally they picked up and informed me there department was closing and someone else would call me on Monday. So, I'm working today and all day Sunday to make up for the down time using LR 6.
I don't know if the bug exists in the program or the "Creative Cloud.
Question: Does anyone know why if I bought Light Room 6 [NOT Light Room CC with the monthly rental], I have to enter my serial number if I want to use it?

Entering the serial number is probably part of the registration process.
Just out of curiosity, what were you doing on LR6 when the folder of images became corrupted?

  • How to highlight the entire folder with the tag color, as before?

I've always highlighted important folders with colors, so that they stand out among others in a list for quicker access. Now in Mavericks list view, there is only a small color dot to the right of the folder's name (sometimes very far from the folder's name if the column is large). As a result, it is much harder to pick important folders. Is there any way to apply the tag color to the whole folder, as it used to be in all previous systems? Or at the very least, to move the dot to the left of the folder name within lists, as in Icon view? I really hope Apple did not remove this feature simply for the sake of design. Thanks.

mistersquid, S. G. is actually referring to the new Tags feature in Mavericks. This replaces entirely the Labels feature in previous versions of the OS, as far as I can tell.
Labels would let you apply a color highlight to a folder. It would appear as a color behind the entire row.
With Mavericks, however, Labels are gone and are replaced with Tags, which just puts a small colored dot off to the right of the folder name (and it's always like this, not just when you click on the folder), and some of these aren't distinct enough from one another (i.e. purple and gray look almost identical if you're scrolling through a series of "gray" folders pretty quickly—you may miss that one purple dot). Also, like S. G. mentioned, these can be pretty far off in your periphery if you've got long folder names, so this just adds another level of "hard-to-see-ness" (it's a technical term ).
I'm a graphic designer and I have been using Labels to colorize my job folders according to their current status. For example:
No label = job is open/in progress.
The next color schemes were more of a "stop light" effect, going from red to green:
Red = job is approved. Prep final files and send to printer/client.
Yellow = job is done. Prepare job ticket/calculate time for billing.
Green = job is done and job ticket is ready to go (hence the green color) to my co-worker for billing/invoicing.
Gray = job is finished/billed/closed (i.e., I've "grayed it out").
Purple = job transferred to another co-worker (i.e., I got too busy and they're working on it now). This one is a rarer color, and with Tags it's a bit difficult to discern one or two purple (more like a light lavender) dots in a sea of gray ones.
I agree with S. G. and would love to see a stronger means of identifying the status of a project at a glance reappear—perhaps as a selectable alternative to Tags in the Finder preferences (because I can definitely see how the two means of colorizing a folder could compete with one another), like a checkbox to the effect of "Use Labels instead of Tags," similar to the "Open folders in tabs instead of new windows" option.
Feedback submitted. Thanks, yodathejedi, for the link.

  • Duplicate an entire folder sturcture with html files within RH

    RH 8 HTML
Is it possible? currently you can duplicate a single topic, is there a way to quickly duplicate a entire folder structure?
I'm making a skeleton layout of topics for release notes, because they are published to the web aswell, we keep all previous version in the project also.
would be nice to be able to quickly copy n paste the skeleton folder and topic layout without having to create it all manually each time.
    thanks.

    Hi Nick.
The short answer is "No". You could copy the topics outside of RH, create another folder in RH and import the copied topics into it. Bear in mind though that folder names must be unique.

  • Recover an entire folder with every recent file?

    Hi,
Need to have an exact copy of a department drive from Friday. The other drive is intact so there is no "DR" scenario.
If I select the folder and choose show all recovery points, then select Friday. Does that Recover the entire folder with the most current backup of every file leading up to Friday, or just the files backed up Friday?
If not is there a way to do a point in time restore? Say like my file server dies and I need to restore every single file to the most current version that I have a copy of?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Every recovery point represents a full backup of the data source you are protecting, so it will contain all files even if they have not been updated for several days.  After a full restore of that folder, the restored files will be of the exact
version they were at the point in time that the recovery point was taken.

  • How to install an entire directory structure and files with the LabVIEW installer

I think I may be missing something on how to do this - preserve a file directory structure in the LabVIEW build process.
Is there an easy way to distribute an entire directory structure (multiple directory levels/text files) and have the LabVIEW build process properly preserve and install them?   I included a directory in my build specification but it completely flattened the file structure and then so when the installer builds it, the resulting structure in the /data directory is flattened as well.    I'd prefer not to go through each file (~100) and setup a specific target location.   Is there an easy way to preserve the file structure in the build process/installer process that I am missing (maybe a check box that I didn't see or an option setting somewhere)?
    -DC

    Hi DC
Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.
You should be able to do this using a 'Source Distribution' as described below:
     - Right click on 'Build Specifications' and select 'New' - 'Source Distribution'
     - Provide a name
     - Add your files to 'Always included' under 'Source Files'
     - Under 'Destinations' select 'Preserve disk hierarchy' and ensure that 'Directory' is selected as the 'Destination type'
When building an installer your can then choose to include your source distribution and it will be installed to a location of your choosing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transporting Entire Folder Structures

There may be something wrong in the way we do transports, but this is the scenario
    Example,
    Folder 1 (contains iview1, iview2, iview3)
transported entire Folder 1 to QA
    QA will have Folder 1 (contains iview1, iview2, iview3)
Deleted iview3 and added iviewA into Folder 1 (in DEV)
    Transport (no errors)
QA now has Folder 1(iView1, iview2, iview3, iviewA)
Looks like the transport does not do a deletion (like the R/3 transport, but just overlay files over)
Anyone know how to bypass this bug ?

    Hi Wai,
I think if the folder hierarchies in the Portal Catalog are completely identical in the source and target systems, the object is created or, if it already exists, it is overwritten in the target system.
But I am not sure abt the deletion, i will try to simulate and check.
Also I am in the process of transport to QA in my clent, could you please let me know how you transported you web dynpro iviews?
    thanks

  • I have lost a folder with all of my future travel emails in it. Could I have deleted an entire folder and can I retrieve it?

I was trying to move an email into my travel folder and I couldn't find it. Then I searched for one of my hotel confirmations that was in that folder and there is no sign of it. Could I have deleted an entire folder? If so, can I retrieve it?

You might have moved it, but if search doesn't find it.....
Your travel folder is it on the server or on your pc?
If it's on the server and you use IMAP you might have lost the subscription
(right click on the account and subscribe)
If its in local folders: try open ''Troubleshooting information'' (under help)
click on button show folder and examine MAIL\Local Folders\ ..... for your missing travel -file. If its there make a copy (for safety) of the one without an extension. Dont do anything else without shutting down Tbird.
And when your at it, paste your ''Troubleshooting information'' (use ''copy to clipboard' -button) here.

  • Does MacOS recognize Windows directory structure? Can I move an entire folder (consisting of subfolders and files) from Windows to Mac?

Can I move an entire folder (consisting of subfolders and files) from Windows to Mac?

    Mustafafromnc,
if you’re talking about a USB drive, then it will probably have an exFAT filesystem. Modern versions of OS X can read from and write to exFAT filesystems without problems, so you would be able to move Windows folders, subfolders, and files from an exFAT filesystem to an OS X filesystem.

  • How set sharing on an entire folder

Is there anyway to set sharing on an entire folder's contents. When you set sharing on a top folder, it does NOT set sharing on any folders within it. This terribly inconvenient to have to go to every folder and subfolders to make them sharing.
Please tell me there is a way to set ALL subfolders down the tree in a folder to sharing!

    Barney, thanks.
The folder in question is a web development folder...htdocs.This folder basically houses all the websites that I work on, each subfolder is a website. These reside on my iMac in my office and I wanted to copy them across the network to my MacBook Pro. Even though I connect to my Mac with my user name, it won't let me copy these files to my MBP, which I thought was strange, seeing that I have access to all levels of those files natively sitting in front of my iMac. So I set out to "share" everything so I could copy it to my MBP. :
    htdocs
    |----------ABC Company Website
    |----------List of files
    |----------Images
    |---------list of images
    |----------XYZ Company Website
The ABC folder has files and a subfolder for say, images, and one for Admin. The XYZ folder might be similarly structured with more files and more subfolders.
So what I wanted to do was go to the ABC Folder, set it as shared and hope everything under it would get shared also.
First, I just right clicked ABC and clicked Get Info, and then clicked Shared Folder. That shared the folder and its files, but not the subfolder Images. I had to go in and set THAT folder to be shared also. Once ALL subfolders were set to "share" I was able to copy the ABC Folder to my MBP
The problem is that I have 50 websites with varying numbers of levels. Going one by one is a pain.
So that's why I wanted to "share all levels" of a top folder.
I DID try right clicking ABC, clicking Get Info, then setting Read and Write on the ABC folder (unlocking and authenticating). Then I DID click the Apply to all levels option. But this didn't result in sharing or allowing me to copy.
Finally I went to the terminal and issued a sudo chmod -R * 777 in hopes that it changed ALL the permissions to full read/write/execute. This ALSO didn't allow me to copy from my mac to the MBP.
ONLY setting EACH folder to "Shared" allowed me to do this.
OSX seems a bit different than Linux in the way the -R works I guess.
So, with all that, maybe you can figure out what I need to do?
    Thanks.

  • Convert RTFD to Doc (without losing images)

    Hello!
Is it possible to convert RTFD-format files to Microsoft Word (doc) format - without losing images?
As a longtime Mac user, I have a multitude of RTF and RTFD files. I want to be able to access the contents of these files on platforms other than OS X (eg: Windows).
RTFD is not supported outside OS X. I'll qualify this by acknowleding that since RTFD files are OS X Packages, they show up in Windows as a folder containing image files and an RTF file; some people conclude that this is acceptable since, strictly speaking, its readable by windows. I disagree because its fiddly and hack-like rather than simple, recognizable and practical like a .doc file.
Given that I can open an RTFD file, copy/paste it's content (images and text) to a new blank Microsoft Word document and save it as .doc, it seems to me that I should be able to automate those steps using AppleScript or Automator.
I've Googled for a solution to this but no-one else is talking about it, with the exception of:
    - the command-line 'textutil' converter, but that creates ascii files that are necessarily stripped of all images
    - converting to HTML, but that creates more than a single file (an HTML file plus a folder containing the images)
Am I missing something really obvious?
    Many thanks!
    Peter

    Hi duncang!
The command-line 'textutil' app strips out images and so is useless for my purposes. As you pointed out, the solutions suggested by MrHoffman and Etresoft are incorrect.
A solution for my original post for this thread: use Apple's Pages for Mac (part of the iWork '09 Suite). I have succesfully converted thousands of RTFD files containing images into Microsoft Word (.doc) format.
If you have a lot of RTFD files to convert, then I recommend using an applescript to automate the process.
The applescript wizard Yvan Koenig (link) has very kindly provided a useful applescript for Pages '09 to automatically convert batches of RTF and RTFD files into Word or PDF. That guy knows what he's talking about and should be knighted for his efforts and kindness.
Look on his Box dot net public folder (link) for a file called 'batch_Pages2Doc.zip' (created Jan 31 2013). Here is the path to the file: / for_iWork'09 / for_Pages09 / batch_Pages2Doc.zip
    - open the script in 'AppleScript Editor' on your Mac
    - read the useful instructions he provides in comments within the script
    - save it as an application so you can use it as a droplet onto which you can drag multiple RTFD files
    - you can even edit the script using his instructions so it exports PDF as well as Doc
    - it saves output to a 'wasPages_now_doc' folder on either your desktop or in your Documents folder
    I'm running:
    - Mac OS X 10.8.4
    - iWork 2009 (retail boxed edition, not Mac App Store edition)
I hope this helps. It took me months to discover the solution to my original post.

after importing, select the entire range of keyframes

Open Library and create a new symbol.
PASTE FRAMES into frame 1 of this new symbol.
On main timeline create a new layer (delete original layer)
