Converting Appleworks 6.7 to Microsoft Word

I am running Appleworks on my iMac with OS 10.4.11. I am trying to transfer files to my MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.4 and using Microsoft Word. Is there any way to convert these Appleworks documents to Word?

AppleWorks 6.2.9 on my Mac offers these file format options (for word processing documents) in the popup menu at the lower left of the Save As dialogue:
The Word translators come from DataViz, and were supplied with some versions of AppleWorks 6.

Could you please try converting any other PDF file with same fonts and then check.
It might also happen due to use of some poor fonts which result in garbled text.

I have images in PDF and when I try to convert it to Microsoft word, the "check marks (wingdings)" turn into the letter "D" and the rest have a lot of misspelled words.

In Acrobat, you choose File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.

After a successful conversion from PDF to Word, you need to download the converted file locally on your computer.
You can then choose 'Enable Editing' button and then delete images/text or make other changes.

I have stored my WordPerfect documents on a disk. I now have an iMac, and cannot convert the .wpd files to Microsoft Word. I do not have my PC connected anymore. I do not want to put any form of Windows on my MAC. Does anyone know how I can convert these files??

When exporting as Microsoft Word, headers and footers created incorrectly

Using Acrobat X, I converted a PDF file to Microsoft Word 2007 format. I selected "Flow Layout" because I'm writing automated software that reads Word documents and flow makes it easier to process. In case you're wondering, I don't read PDF directly simply because most of the documents my software reads is native Word. For the remaining PDF documents, translation to Word prevents me having to write software that reads both Word or PDF files.
Here's the issue:
With Flow layout, Acrobat attempts to determine Word headers and footers. Unfortunately, it does so incorrectly much of the time for many documents. In particular, lines near the top of the file are "pulled" into the header and lines near the bottom are "pulled" into the footer. In the following picture, look closely at the black vs. grey text. The grey text is in the headers and footers. Note also the green squiglies indicating grammer errors.
I either need this fixed, or an option to turn off header/footer recognition.
