Converting Assembly BOM to Sales BOM in SAP 2007

I am attempting to change my first Assembly BoM to a Sales BoM, but I get the message 'BOM CANNOT BE CHANGED : OPEN WORKS ORDERS WERE FOUND (PRODUCT TREE - BM TYPE) [MESSAGE 3566-8]'. There are no open sales orders or Production Orders for this item (does 'WORKS ORDER' = 'PRODUCTION ORDER' or does it mean something else? Please advise
Is there any documentation which targets this specific functionality of conversion ?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Kind regards,
Indraj.

Please check this thread:
BOM Cannot be changed, open work orders were found

Can any tell me in SAP standard can one sales bom's item is another sales bom's header? For example, material code " A" is the header of sales bom, it has 3 component materials: A1, A2,A3. If A3 is another sales bom's header, it has 2 components:B1, B2. Can this suppose support in SAP ?
When i entry material code "A" in sales order, will it bring out  A1,A2,A3, B1,B2 ?

    Hi Shen,
I think you can get your requirement through Multilevel BOM concept.
Here Iam giving the link about multilevel BOM go through this it may help you.

    Hi,
When we create sales order with alternate sales BOM we face a problem.I am using Alternate BOM 5 in sales order .But Costing is happening for Alternate BOM 1.By default Costing  is taking Alternate BOM1 irrespective of alternate  BOM  i am using in sales order.
At the time of sales BOM costing system should take alternate BOM5 .how to do this?

You can use Mixed Costing for this. Maintain Procurement alternative by CK91 & Mixing Ratio CK94 for the version you want to cost

  • Sales BOM is not working for one Distribution Channel

    HI Gurus
In VA01, Line item, for material A Sales BOM is working ( Bom exploded ) for one distribution channel but not for other distribution channel.
Material A is defined already for other distribution channel ( for which sales bom).
Sales BOM ( CS01) is also define.
    Regards\Adnan

this is solved by myself. Component ( child ) material was not defined for that Distribution channel.

  • Sales bom and assembly bom

i want to make sales bom which consists of all the materials to make a product(machine).this sales bom is available to sales person and he has to select the varients depends upon customer requirement(varient configuration).
then all materials are to be manufactured and are to be available in stock.
after this step assembly person has to assemble the components according to the assembly procedure for that he has to refer assembly bom which consists of logical grouping of components for his easiness in assembly.
so sales bom has to be with materials only(components which are to be produced to make final product) and assembly bom is with logical grouping of these materials according to assembly procedures and total materials are same in sales bom and assembly bom
is there any method in sap to link sales bom and assembly bom which are different for sales and assembly?this is make to order scenario
    thanking you
    srinivas

    Hi Srina,
    The difference between them is
In the assembly bill of materials, the finished product appears in the sales order document.
But in Sales bill of materials, the finished product and the components appear as separate items in the sales order document.
For example the finished product can be a set of office furniture.
you can use the assembly bill of materials to define the composition of the set. The finished product is not stored as an entire set in the warehouse. However, the individual components of the set (for example, chairs, tables, and Almirah) are items in stock. If a customer buys a set of Office furniture, draw the components from stock and deliver them to the customer as a set.
    Hope this help,

  • How to transfer sales bom from SAP R/3 to APO?

    Hi Experts,
I just want to ask how to transfer sales bom from R/3 to APO? if i change my bom usage to 5 and use this BOM in my Production version be enough to send it to APO?
Also, this is my first time using sales bom, could you please help me understand how sales bom work in APO planning?
    Thanks so much.
    Mylene

    Hi Senthil,
Thanks again for your reply. I was trying to CIF sales BOM in APO but only the header material are being created in APO. The component are not added in PDS. This is how I create it in SAP R/3:
    1. transaction cs01 -->  enter header material, plant and BOM USAGE =5
    2. inside cs01, i entered components, quantity for each components and ITEM category = L (stock item)
i also eneterd base quantity for header material
    3. create production version for header material with routing and this BOM
    4. create and activate material CIF model for header and components
    5. create and activate PDS CIF model for header and components.
After doing all these steps, PDS is created in APO but I only have the header material (no components)
I tried changing BOM to other bom usage and components were populated in PDS.
Am i missing nay steps?  Thanks.

  • Creating a Sales BOM in SAP CRM 7.0

    Hi All,
How to create a Sales BOM in SAP CRM 7.0 system?  What is the transaction code for it ? I want to define a high level Package material in the BOM and 3-4 low level items in this BOM. What are the steps to achieve this ? We do not have ECC system connected to CRM and we are using CRM 7.0 as stand-alone system.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi R D,
Please could you let me know how you achieved this. I am trying to do the same thing. But when I assign products in the component relationship, it does not explode when I use it in a contract. Please let me know if the solution you used.

  • How to Create Specific SAP Query for Sales BOM

    Dear All Salute !!
How I can create a SAP Query which provide information from the Sales Order-Line Item, this specific material is having any BOM or not?
    Suppose, user want Input,
Sales Order No., Product Category, Duration of Sales Order Release.
    want Output,
Sales Order No., Customer No., Customer Description, Sales Order Line Item, Material No., Material Description, Delivery Date, Quantity, Sales Order release Date
Users requirement is, List of All Line Items for which BOM is yet to be Uploaded in the System.
Please provide complete detail with Table & field by using SAP Query.

If I am correct, in table KDST, you can see the details of Sales BOM with sale order.  Since right now, I dont have access to SAP, I am unable to confirm this.  You have to consider this table and develop on your own logic with the help of ABAPer.

  • Use of Sales BOM to force ATP against Bulk Material?

    Background:
Our business was recently acquired, and we have migrated to the parent company's R/3 system.  In our previous MRP system (R/2), we planned, produced, and shipped a single bulk Material ID in Trucks, Rail Cars, Flexi-Bags, and Iso-Tainers.  In the new system, specific Material IDs are now required for each of these modes.  However, we do not store the inventory in these modes, nor do we wish to plan at this detailed level.
    Considered So Far:
Initial suggestion was to use A.T.O. to look through a BOM and automatically create production orders for each customer order. However, this seems to add additional complexity that we do not really need, and makes changing order dates more challenging (have to move both the order and the accompanying Prod. Order).
    Desired Outcome:
Order is entered and priced based upon the mode-specific Material ID, but inventory is relieved from the Bulk material.  In our previous R/2 system, there was a field on the material master called "Std.Prod." which stood for Standard Product Link.  We used it for synonymous products where we produced and inventoried under one name, but sold under several different names.  The customer materials were set up as type SALE and referenced the inventoried material, set as type FINI, in this Std. Prod. field.  Thus, at the header level, the user saw the SALE material, but for planning and at the batch level, the system showed the FINI.
    Options?
I am told that, due to the amount of custom coding and user exits surrounding outputs and interfaces to EDI and other external systems, the use of Material Determination would require too much testing and potentially too much development work.  But, is it the best / correct solution to the problem?  Because right now, I don't have the ability to perform ATP against the inventoried Material, so nothing confirms.  Would the use of a 1 to 1 Sales BOM offer anything different?
    Many Thanks in Advance,
    J.P.

    Hello JP
Material Determination (MD) works with Consignment orders, only you need to assign a MD procedure to the requisite sales document type in config ( TO code OV14). Product substitution, which is a specialized form of MD, makes use of special item cats like TAX and TAPS or TAPA and TAN for main and substitute items respectively, but you can always make copies of them and use them with consignment orders also in conjunction with item category usages like PSHP. PSEL, PSA1 and PSA2. There could be resultant issues, but unless you test you won't know them all.
Your second question about 'Sale would go against the finished good (Truck / Rail material) while the production costs go against the Bulk', brought a new realization in me. You are ordering, pricing and delivering Truck or Rail materials, but those requirements have to be converted to Production orders for bulk material, so from a Sales and Distribution (SD) point of view you  don't need anything extra, therefore work with you Production Planning (PP) consultant to convert the requirements at  PP end?? May be without resorting to MD or BOMs in Sales, you can work with your PP consultant and with standard config or custom development, you may realize your desired outcome.
Also as long as cost is maintained in the sales Material (Truck for example)  with due regard to the additional costs in converting Bulk to truck, you should be fine. Follow the example below:
Standard cost of 1 ton , say X, is stored in Bulk Material master.
Now if there is no additional cost and you just load the bulk material into a truck and if a Truck is 10 ton, then Truck material would have 10X in its material master for cost.
But if there is some other material  and/or  labor involved in converting bulk to Truck and their cost is y, then you will have (10x+y) in your truck material. Also it is worthwhile to capture the additional cost in the Production/Assembly order via components and operations.
Your problem is not insurmountable, but you need to assemble a team of SD. PP, MM and CO experts to design an integrated solution for you.

  • Use of BOM in sales

    Dear All,
Any use of BOM in sales, how we can use BOM in sales?
    Regards
    Gajjen

    Dear
The sales BOM represents a finished product which is assembled at the sales stage.here the both the finished product and the components appear as separate items in the sales order.
In Sales BOM you do not manage the finished product as an inventory item, but just a sales item. The components can also be sales and stock items
When you create the delivery to dispatch the customeru2019s order, the components are backflush issued from stock.
The components for Sales BOM must be sales items. The Sales BOM is mainly used in the Retail industries than other industries.
While using the material in each dept. the usage differs so for that sap provided this function. for sales bom is used only sales and also that material already exist in the plant. and mm bom the material has to procure from the some third party that all functionality will control throgh the maitaning bom usage.
You can use OS20 T code for the usage and for creation CS01 wiith usage 5 or CS61.

  • Sales bom - parent item

when i create a sales bom, all the components display as independent items on the picklist. why? and it also does not display the parent item. the picker needs to see this information! how can i make that show up on the picklist? any ideas?

    Hi Gordon,
I appreciate your mature reply to my critical posting.
Do you know what the Sales BOM is supposed to be used for? I am not sure how in any possible context can the below make sense:
    1. Currently B1 will deliver components only of a Sales BOM at zero cost
    2. Given sales orders can "expire" (in the sense they can have a cut-off date - typically 30 days by default I think), surely if one doesn't receive the remaining components in time, this would lead to a very awkward situation! What if the remaining component(s) is/are non-purchased item(s)?
If the above was registered as a program error, fair enough. But they won't register it. any ideas why?
Although with each version (see below), everything works "as designed" - they keep changing it:
In 2004A, Sales BOMs were working "as designed" - but P&P manager couldn't be used (parent item was lost when making delivery note)
In 2005A, Sales BOMs were working "as designed" - same as above - but Assembly BOMs (essentially the same thing) were improved would print off a separate component picking list.
In 2007A, Sales BOMs are working "as designed" - note, this hasn't officially changed yet - but we now get the parent item in the delivery via P&P
Our SAP partner was just as surprised at the functionality as we were when we moved ahead with the install a few years ago.
Please understand, my only issue is the lack of willingness from SAP to recognise the problem at all - and the standard answer of "as designed" even when it is clear there is a problem. If you can help myself and perhaps Prem improve our understanding of the design (especially points 1 and 2 above) I would genuinely be grateful.
    Thanks,
    Raj

  • Enhancement within Sales BOM

    Hi,
Can SAP B1 lncorporate following changes in the coming patches that within the Bills of Material if a Sales BOM is prepared there itself a check box is given noting that the Component Item won't be seen in the Sales Transaction i.e. Sales Order, Sales Invoice etc.
Presently a check box is given noting that BOM Items will be hide out in the Print Out. But kindly make it to the Sales Transaction also. So that the person who is making the Sales Order is not aware of the components used within the Finished Goods.

    Hi,
But within SAP Site, SAP is noting it that it won't be giving any support in reference to Assembly BOM from SAP B1 8.8 Version onwards.

  • Adding Sales BOM to Sales Order through SDK

    Hello Experts,
We're encountering an issue with adding Sales BOM items to the Sales Order through the SDK. When we add the parent, the object automatically adds the children as lines after all other lines. This causes issues with our batch delivery creation. When the Sales Order is created inside SBO Client, it always adds the child items right under the parent. We have a work around where we change the LineNum through SQL, but that seems like a sketchy method - what's the proper way of adding Sales BOM items to a Sales Order?
Here is the code we're using to add the Sales Order lines
    olOrders.Lines.ItemCode = sItemCode
    olOrders.Lines.ItemDescription = aRecSet.Fields.Item("name").Value
    olOrders.Lines.UnitPrice = aRecSet.Fields.Item("cartprice").Value
    olOrders.Lines.Quantity = aRecSet.Fields.Item("qty").Value
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Rob,
I certainly wouldn't recommend you use a direct SQL command to update the LineNum on the sales order rows. This will invalidate your support agreement with SAP.
One way you can deal with this would be to add your Sales BOM header item to a draft document (of type sales order) and add this first. You can then retrieve it in the DI API and add the other Items before adding the document as a proper sales order (and removing the draft). You can do this using the Draft and Documents objects either by coding each property or by exporting the Draft to XML and using XLST to convert it to a Sales Order and reimporting it. It does require a fair bit of coding but it will achieve what you need.
    Kind Regards,

  • WMS - Sales BOM

    Hi all,
We are looking for a pick and pack system that can do the following, but have had no luck finding something to date. Can anyone suggest an Add-On?
    - To make things simpler, I am going to say we sell computers.
    - A computer (parent item) is made up of a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and tower (child items)
    - We do NOT store these assembled and do NOT want to "produce" them at the point of sale as we sell hundreds of these in different pre-set combinations
    - Our customers do NOT want to receive "bits" of their computer (eg: mouse, keyboard, but no monitor or tower), so all BOMs must be "complete" or we should not be allowed to ship them.
    - Finally, our orders are generally for about 30 types of computer at one time, so we do not want to use the sales order as a pick list
Phew... hope that makes things clear... we have been trying to solve the above for a few years but with no luck. Hopefully with SAP's half hearted support for Sales BOMs in the pick and pack process, someone may have stepped up to the plate!
    Thanks
    Raj
