Converting back from .pdf

My organisation has a series of documents that were produced
in PowerPoint and then converted to .pdf format for provision to
the public.
We now want to update/edit those documents, rather than have
to build them again from the ground up, but the original .ppt files
are lost.
We have Creative Suite with Acrobat 7.0 which allows me to
edit. Sort of. I can't position things very easily or at all. It's
certainly doesn't work the way we want it to.
Is there any way of converting the files back to .ppt using
Adobe products?
(I have also tried using Illustrator, and it gives me more
options but only allows me to do one page at a time, rearranges the
page and its difficult and frustrating to use. Don't get me wrong,
I love Illustrator!)

Hello MattyGibson,
Thanks for your post!
Acrobat.com does not have a way to convert your .pdf files
back to .ppt. Honestly, I'm not sure what else does that sort of
conversion.
You could do a google search for "pdf to ppt" and you'll get
some options there.
Alternatively, you could ask in the
Acrobat
forums and see if they have any other suggestions!
Good luck!

  • Adobe Reader X Not Converting To / From PDF ?

I have a licensed copy of Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.08 which was purchased a couple of years ago & registered. I cannot now convert to / from PDF without being redirected to an obligatory online subscription. Why is this so ?

You probably had Adobe Acrobat, not Reader, which is indeed a paid product with the ability to convert to/from PDF files.
If you also installed Reader you can remove it and go back to using Acrobat, which has all the functionalities that Reader has, and more.

  • Signing Word documents or converting back to pdf

How do I sign word document that I have converted from pdf?
Can I convert word document back into pdf?

    Hi Jude20,
We have CreatePDF for converting back to pdf format and EchoSign to sign pdf documents. Although if you are looking for the full package might I suggest Acrobat Pro XI or Acrobat Standard XI?
acrobat.com is a great resource to obtain what you want/need.
Please let me know if you have further questions and if this was helpful today!
    Kind regards, Stacy

  • Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text.  I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard.  What is the remedy for this.  If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

Why do I continue to receive an error msg when converting pdf files to Word?

    HI tatamene,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble converting a document.  For starters, have you verified that your account is active? (You can check by logging in to www.adobe.com and checking under My Subscriptions and Services). Aside from that, I'll need a little more info to get to the bottom of your problem.
Are you trying to convert the file from within Reader, or directly via the ExportPDF website?
What operating system and browser are you using?
How large is the file that you're trying to convert? (There's a file-size limit of 100 MB.)
Is the computer that you're using networked?
Do other files convert without error?
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Best,
    Sara

  • 3700 AP - Best way to convert back from Autonomous to LIghtweight

I have a 3700 AP that I have up & running as Autonomous. I recently got a 2504 WLC and would like to put the AP back to Lightweight and run it from the 2504.
The 2504 is running 8.0.110.0 code and I have the current 3700 Lightweight Recovery image and IOS downloaded as well.
I have done done some searches and most of he articles are conversion to Autonomous. Not much is out there for putting it back. Some articles just mention needing the Lightweight  recovery image while others state I can use the Mode button and just have a TFTP server running  in a specific subnet and the AP will "pull" down the code and convert back.  Almost all of the articles refer to old model APs...
Looking for clarity in the process as I certainly don't want to brick this 3700 AP.
    Thx.

    Hi
You can use either methods & it will work (even for 3700)
If you using mode button method, make sure you rename the recovery image something like this ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default. Refer this post for detail
    http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/13/ap-conversion-using-mode-button/
    Normal method is described here

  • How to convert back from UTF8 to ISO-8859-1 encoding?

    hi,
I have a bunch of XML files which were wrongly encoded, and we lost all our accent characters.
    ie: é become é
so how can I recover my XML files using powershell?
so I want to change all the UTF8 ecoded characters back to the original ISO accent character
    é -> é
    I try this:
    1")
    $utf8 = [System.text.Encoding]::UTF8
    $utfBytes = $utf8.GetBytes("é")
    $isoBytes = [System.text.Encoding]::Convert($utf8, $iso, $utfBytes)
    $iso.GetString($isoBytes)
    but doesnt works.
so is there a way to do this in powershell?
I have to scan hundreds of files...
    thanks.

You can't.  UTF-8 strips all of the information from the characters so you cannot know which characters are which.  If you know which characters you need to fix (requires knowing the spelling of the words) you could possible develop an matrix of
replacements. There is no simple one line method.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Importing iPhoto books back from pdf files

I saved my book on a cd in pdf. I want to put it back into iphoto to print more books - iphoto said it couldn't read the format. How do I do this?

    sjrb:
You can't back engineer a book from the pdf file. You might however do a Print to PDF and select the Send PDF to iPhoto option. That will give you jpg files for each page of the pdf. You might be able to create a book with all pages in a 1 photo per page layout and use those jpgs of each page. It won't be as good as the original but may be acceptable.
The pdf conversion process produces jpgs that are 2200 x 1700 x 200 dpi which do not give a low quality warning when put a 1 photo/page layout. You'll have trouble with the cover and will have to find the photo for it and redo it with a photo. Worth a try.
If I may offer a suggestion. In the future create a separate library for the book, add the picture you want in the book to an album in the original library. Then use iPhoto Library Manager to transfer that album to the book library and any more photos as you go along. When you're done you can burn that book library folder to a CD using the Finder to archive that book. If you want to order another book at a later day, copy that library folder back to the desktop, open it iPhoto and order another exact copy. Delete the folder when done.
    Do you Twango?

  • Convert attachments from pdf to jpeg

I received some photos as pdf attachments and i need to convert them to jpeg to save them in my iPhoto library

Drag the Preview application from your Applications folder to the Dock, if it is not already there.
Then save the attachments to your Desktop from Mail.
Drag each attachment to the Preview icon to open it in Preview.
Alternately, you can right-click or ctrl-click a document and use the command "Open with" from the contextual menu to force the document to open in a specific application.

Not possible with Adobe Reader. You'll need either Adobe Acrobat or a subscription to PDF Pack to do it.

  • Convert file from pdf to qbo file?

How do I convert a pdf file to to qbo file? I have the information on a disc which I can only open in Adobe reader. How do i get this info adobe acrobat so I can convert the file?

I have no idea how you'd convert to QuickBooks format, or if it is possible.
But if you have both Acrobat and Adobe Reader installed, and want to open in Acrobat, simply start Acrobat and use File > Open.

  • How do I batch convert files from pdf to pdf/a

My company is scanning a bunch of old documents and wants to store the files as both pdf and pdf/a.  Many of the files have already been scanned as pdf, is it possible to convert them en mass to pdf/a?  Or must we continue to do them one at a time?

XI Pro is better, the algorithm that fixes a PDF so it passes the compliance check is better. Not foolproof but much more likely to succeed than the one in Acrobat X.
As Test Screen Name says you can automate saving to the untagged versions of PDF/A (such as PDF/A-1b) using an Action, simply by creating a new 'empty' action and changing the Save step options. In most cases it'll work, but if the input file is wildly out of compliance it can still throw an error. The biggest problems tend to originate with font embedding and when the PDF has comments applied.
PDF/A versions with tagging (e.g. PDF/A-1a) are horrendous to create after the fact as you will almost certainly be hit with a long list of things you have to manually correct. Acrobat can't automate the fixes this time as it has no way to understand the semantics of each page. It's very strongly advised that those types of file are created directly in the authoring application (though Adobe has yet to implement that idea in InDesign, you can do it in MS Office).
