Converting codecs for use with multi-clip

Hi,
Not sure if I should post this here or in Compressor so please let me know!
I have recently completed a three camera shoot. Cam 1 and 2 were Sony pmw-EX1 cameras. Cam 3 was a Sony HD camera which used tape. The files I imported from Cam 1 and 2 are:
25fps
1410x1080
XDCam HD 1080p25
Pixel Ratio HD 1410x1080
Camera 3 is exactly the same except that the 'compressor' info is HDV 1080i50 instead of XDCam HD 1080p25.
Based on all of this, I cannot use Multiclip in FCP because the codecs don't match. So, I thought I would try and convert Camera 3 files using compressor. I found the XDCam compressor settings but it didn't work - the pixel aspect settings in that are still HDV 1080i50. I cannot seem to find a video codec which has the pixel aspect of cam 1 and cam 2. I assume this is relevant?
Do I need to customise my own settings in Compressor? Or is there another way to convert Cam 3 to the same codec as cam 1 and 2?
Hope all that makes sense....! Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
x

Thanks for closing your own thread with a successful answer, hardly anyone does that around here.

  • HT1665 I have a World Travel Adapter Kit for use with my iPad. can the plug adapters also be used on the Mac Pro charger to charge up my laptop when travelling or is a special converter needed.M

I have a World Travel Adapter Kit for use with my iPad when traveling abroad. I know this charger can be used on an iPhone, can the plug adapters also be used with the charger of a Mac Book Pro or is a special converter required?

Is there any concern about the type of travel adapter kit? For instance, some instructions indicate they are for heat creating appliances (hairdryers, curling irons, etc.). I bought such a set, but do they present any issues if used with more delicate electronic circuitry (for iPads, iPods, or with camera battery chargers). I am leaving for the UK on Monday and need to get it right - are they too strong for the Apple products if they are not to be used with computers? What other options are out there?

Can PowerPC applications be converted for use with Lion OSX? Ifso, how?

    Three workarounds:
    1.  If your Mac supports it, partition your internal hard drive or use an external drive and install Snow Leopard.  Then you can "dual-boot" into Snow Leopard when you want to run your PowerPC applications.
    2.  Upgrade and/or find alternative replacements for your PPC software that run without Rosetta.
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion:

  • IP Ranges for use with On-Premeses Azure Mult-Factor Auth

Anyone know where MS publishes an up to date list of IP ranges of POPs for use with on-premises Azure Muti-factor Auth? I'm seeing some issues and firewall logs show connections are going to IPs not currently in the last list of IP ranges we received from
    MS (late last year).

The 204.13.12x.xx addresses above are no longer used. Also, the list above is missing
    134.170.116.72/29.
For those using event confirmation features or doing mobile app authentications with devices that are on the corporate network, the ranges need to be a little wider:
    157.55.242.0/25
    208.68.140.0/25
    134.170.116.0/25
    134.170.165.0/25
These are subject to change as the service expands to additional datacenters. It is best to use the following URLs if possible:
    css.phonefactor.net
    pfd.phonefactor.net
    pfd2.phonefactor.net

  • Convert IDE 2.5" external enclosure for use with SATA hard drive

    Hello all,
I recently upgraded my Macbook hard drive and ordered a 2.5" enclosure at the same time for use with my old hard drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817347007). As soon as I opened it, I noticed that the pins don't line up and have now learned about IDE vs SATA in the forums. Okay, is there anyway I can still use this enclosure? An adapter?
    Thanks,

  • What is the best software to use for screen capture on a PC for use with FCPX?

What is the best software to use for screen capture on a PC (windows 7) for use with FCPX? I've tried Camtasia and camstudio however the avi files cannot be imported by FCPX and the mov files produced by these programs are shown as just black screens in FCPX.

I use to face this issue every now and then (as a freelancer) when I use to cut on FCP7.
if the material is DV and was captured using Sony VEGAS, Premiere or Edius, the footage generally worked fine. You'll find most people will tell you to convert it regardless, however I found no issues working with them.
A problem you'll definitely face is HDV material. Most PC editing software write HDV in their own codec, which can't be read in FCP.
The only thing I can think of is to try converting HDV meaterial to QuickTime using something like MPEG Streamclip, or something similar.
    Good luck

  • Extract closed captions from OTA HD broadcast for use with DVD SP?

Hi, I'm out of my league here, trying to do a favor for a deaf friend. He will appear on a national TV show, and I'd like to capture his appearance and (if possible) burn it to DVD.
Of course, being deaf, he needs to see the closed captions.
What I've done so far is buy Elgato's eyeTV Hybrid. I can successfully capture HD broadcasts with their embedded closed captions (wow, is that gorgeous!).
I can use the eyeTV software to recompress the audio and video for DVD SP, but the captions don't end up anywhere that I can tell.
Is there any way to extract the closed captioning information for use with DVD SP?
    Thanks very much.

I don't think FCP will ever have captioning tools, due to it is a specilized area of post production and third party companies have developed captioning software that addresses this area.
I use the only Mac captioning software, (Mac Caption, made by CPC) that runs on the Mac. The cost for the SD captioning version of Mac Caption retail cost $6,995 USD and the HD version is an additional $2000.00 USD. If your an educational institution, then the price is about half the list, (price can be negotiated with the company at the time of purchase.)
As you can see, this is about half the cost of the FCP suite and I really don't think that Apple will ever get into this area. Most production companies rely on captioning services. In our case, we are an educational facility and therefore must comply with ferderal law, so we caption everything we do, thus why we had to purchase our own software.
The software we use, can do what it is that you are seeking, it can read the caption data from a live video image an convert it to a .scc file, that can be then used in DVD authoring or tape production. It can also read the raster area of a 720x 486 video file and also convert the caption information to a .scc file, as well as creating subtitlilng .stl files for DVD's.
It can also do original captioning, as well as add a text track to QT streaming files, which is how you caption QT steraming files. You can even burn captions into the video image of a steaming file.
Again, most production facilities are going to have to rely on a captioning service, but because we have to caption everything, and most captioning services don't caption QT streaming files, this was another reason we had to purchase our own captioning software.

  • Which iMac for use with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom

Any opinions on which iMac is best for use with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom. Not sure if the 2.7 i5 with 512 graphics card is Plenty of power or if upgrading to the 3.1 i5 or 3.4 i7 is a wiser choice given the price differences. Appreciate the help

So I was reading over your post, and even though this is older and has to do with CS5, I have some information for CS6 that will be relevant to your question now that it is time to upgade the software. In general Photoshop has always been more about RAM than Processing power, though that is important too. Until CS5 it could never quite take advantage of what multi-core processors really had to offer, and even the graphics card didn't really effect much of it outside of certain features and the 3D optio
Now that is no longer true and Adobe can effeciently use all aspects of the computer to give you much better performance.
So much so that I was able to buy a brand New ASUS with the following specs:
    Dual Core 2.2GHz Processors
8GB of RAM (4GB original to the machine)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit OS
    320GB HDD w/ 5400RPM
This machine not only runs photoshop CS6 and Launches in less than 5 Seconds... it can run Premier and After Effects as well, and this Laptop cost me less than $400 (on sale at Best Buy 2 Weeks Ago. You don't have to buy something this cheap, but isn't it great that you can and still run Master Collection effectively?

  • Does FrameMaker 12 have an LEID value for use with serialization via AAMEE?

Does FrameMaker 12 have an LEID value for use with serialization via AAMEE?

I wish life was that easy :-).
You have a valid argument; So I had this kind of test going. I had 50,000 messages of
type-1 first loaded into the queue. Then I had 100 messages of type-2 loaded on to the
    queue.
At this point, I issued a conditional dequeue that skipped type-1 messages and only
asked for type-2 messages. I saw the full table scan.
Then I created another test case 1 million type-1 messages had to be skipped.
Still full table scans. I am not convinced that the doing full table scans is the best query
plan out there. Cost Based Optimizer tends to disagree for some reason. May be
it is right; But I have to avoid FTS when possible. As you know, not only blocks
used by the existing rows in the table get scanned, but also every block until the
    high water mark level.
One might say for a table with volatile data that comes and goes on a daily basis, million is an extreme case. Howvere, I am building a general purpose infrastructure based
on AQ and cannot rule out consumers who misbehave.
Are there better ways to handle multiple types of consumers on a single physical queue ? I need to be able dequeue specific consumer types if necessary, and this has to be
    done in a performant manner.
Other alternatives I can think are
    1. Using a multi consumer queue such that there is one subscriber for each message
type. Use multiple agent sets in a listen method to listen to messages and then
control what agents we pass into listen method.
    Any pattern suggestions welcome.
    Thanks

  • Subscription cannot be used with multi-user device...

I just received an email message stating "Subscription cannot be used with multi-user devices" and "Here's a quick reminder that Skype's subscriptions are for individual use only and cannot be used with multi-user devices such as PBXs"
I'm not sure why i received it, I am the only user and I only call out via my Iphone wifi and, occasionally, my PC.
Could anyone please explain this to me?
    Thanks - Steve

    Hi Steve,
Basically as long as you don't make subscription calls from more than one device at the same time there shouldn't be an issue.
I'll look into this messaging as it seems to be bit misleading.
Could you check your email, I sent you an email asking bit more information around this notification.

My experience with Lacie and Sony burners has always been positve and Toast is good to have around, it's always complimented iDVD well (in addition to having a host of other useful features).
    Note:
I'm not familiar with any of Toast 6 lite's features, but I do know you can burn DVD's with it. It adds another means of authoring a DVD outside of iDVD.

  • Exporting from FCP for use with PC

    Hey all,
Trying to deliver a high-med quality 8 minute video from FCP for use with a PC. I've tried exporting both a .mov and .avi using DVCPro50, but neither are readable through the PC. Best I can get is sometimes audio will show up. Does anyone have a good solution for exporting from FCP for use with a PC?
    Thanks again for your help!

I don't think DVCpro50 codec is available on a PC. I think panasonic has a special license with apple only, so you need to try a different codec for the avi.
