Converting .emf files to .png maintaining 300 dpi resolution

Hi,
Can this be done? If so, how?
Thanks!

How do you change the PNG code?
Chris writes the actual Photoshop code (I believe) I don't think it's something we can do (if I understand your ? correctly).
Image> Image Size> Resolution: typing 300 over the 299.99 doesn't stick or does it throw your pixel dimensions off?
PDF opening in Photoshop with transparency? Is there a way around that?
Layers> Flatten
File> Save As
unchecking some of the Save options may have a similar effect on transparency, layers, ect

  • Trouble converting powerpoint files with png images to pdf-Can someone help?

    Hello all,
In my line of work, I create and modify large sized posters that are created in powerpoint. I would have the files print ready by converting them to pdf. I usually have little to no issues executing this. However, I have been dealing with an issue of converting ppt files with png images. The size of the ppt is typically a 42x56 file. The several ways to convert to pdf produces an error each time. Png images are very useful as they provide much clarity vs jpegs or tiffs. The 3 ways I have tried below are:
    A) File>Print>Adobe PDF>High Quality print settings/300dpi results to an error message that says:
"Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current print setup. Try one of the following:
*Check the printer by printing a test page from Windows.
*Make sure the printer is turned on and online.
         *Reinstall the printer driver"
A blank pdf opens up (Selected to open file after publishing)
    B) File>Save as> Change file type as a pdf results in nothing happening. No pdf is produced.
    C) Acrobat>Create PDF results to an error message that says: "An unexpected error occured. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
Again, this all happens with ppt files with png images. I took out the png images and attempted to convert to pdf, and the pdf is produced!
Can anyone provide any assistance in creating pdfs with png images or what settings I need to adjust? I am able to covert every other image type (jpeg, tiff, bmp), except for png images.
I am using Microsoft Office 2010 with Adobe Acrobat X on Windows 7 (This happened on Windows XP as well).

    >I have a 48 slide presentation that has a small .png image in the "slide
    >master" so it will show up on every page.
PowerPoint only has to store one instance of the image even thought it is
displayed on multiple slides. But Acrobat can't do the same, the image has
to be stored for every page that it appears on, so that would explain the
    larger file size.
Acrobat is supposed to be able to optimize the storage of common background
images (at least that's the message I see when I do a "Save as..."), but I
have yet to see it to work. Maybe it depends on the application the orginal
file is created in and the PDF conversion method used.
Adding the image into a PDF file later as a watermark instead may be a way
to keep the size down (then it really only does store the object once),
though I believe that watermark images will appear in front of everything
else on the page (not sure if that's a problem for you, it depends on
whether any text or objects in the presentation ever appear in front of the
    image).
What are the dimensions and resolution of the image in PowerPoint? You may
be able to go as low as 75 dpi and not notice a difference, it depends on
whether the image contains any areas of high contrast or text.

  • Convert PSD files into PNG on exporting PDF

Is there a way to convert all PSDs used in InDesign into PNGs during exporting file as PDF?

After exporting the PDF I convert that into online format. But there is an issue with the images that has been added as PSD, all such images lose their colors after conversion. So I need to convert this images into PNG before exporting the PDF.
I hope this is clear. Do you know a way to do this?

  • Help converting pages document with images over to a 300 dpi jpg file

    Hi
I'm pretty new to using Pages.  I have created a 4 page Pages document with a lot of iphoto images.  It's for a elementary school yearbook.  The publisher ulitmately needs a 300 dpi jpg file.
How do I convert the pages document into a 300 dpi jpg?
I tried to convert it first to a pdf then to a 300 dpi jpg but when I sent that file over, they said that when they zoomed in, the images all looked blurry.
Any ideas on what to do without having to start all over again?  Worst case, I guess I can print out in best quality, scan and save as jpg but there's got to be an easier way.
I'm not a graphic designer, just trying to fuddle my way through so you'll have to go easy on me with the techno speak.  Any cliff notes for mac beginners?
Thanks much in advance for any help!

The conversion isn't perfect between Pages and Word. The same font is handle differently in the two applications and so are many other things too. If you are concerned about how it looks use Pdf versions instead.

  • Iphoto converting edited photos from 300 dpi to 72 dpi

I edit RAW photos and save as Jpeg The dpi reduces from 300 dpi to 72. I have seen an archived discussion saying basically this does not matter. The size of my photo is 3872x2592 for 2.4mb when edited. Unfortunately a newspaper has refused to print a photo as they will only print at 300 dpi.  I have converted this photo back to 300 dpi using preview but apparently 'blowing up the pixels blurs them?  Is there any way I can edit and still maintain 300 dpi?

Yes you can do tat but it akes NO DIFFERENCE - the newspapr has no idea how digital photography works
    see http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/mythdpi.html for more details
Simply put no digital file has any DPI (yes there is a DPI field in the EXIF data but it is simply a number and any competent printer simply ignores is since it is meaningless
DPI is dots per inch and therefore can not exist until you have "Inches" - until you print - then DPI is a simple mathmatical calbulation - the dots (pixels) divided by inches (Dots Per Inch)
If you give the newspaper a 3872x2592 file then they can print it up to 12.9066667 Inches x 8.64 inches at 300 DPI (3872/300 x 2592/300)  --  if the print is suppose to be larger than that then you need a higher resolution camera
And although it makes no difference newspapers do not need more than about 120 DPI because of the overall quality of their printing

  • Export 300 dpi file from multiple apps, but it is received at 72 dpi

    Hi,
    I need HELP please.
I am creating a print job that needs to be output at 300 dpi. I have created the file in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Each time I set the file up as a 300 dpi file. I create the art, then I output. I have output both as an app original file (.psd, .ai, etc.) and as a .jpg and as a High Quality (Print) .pdf. But, when each of them is opened by another computer, the dpi is identified as 72 dpi. When they send the file back to me and I open it on my computer, it is identified as a 300 dpi.
Initially I had this problem with PS and I thought it was a PS problem. I worked with the folks at Adobe and they can't find a solution. Then, in desparation I had to get the file done, so I re-created everything in AI and had the same problem. Then in ID and had the same problem. (BTW - I'm using CS5.5). So, now I think that it's a Mac problem, not an Adobe problem.
    Any ideas?
    anita
PS - I use a 17" Mac Book Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7; OS X 10.6.8 with an Apple Cinema Display 30" set to display at 1600 X 1200 (so I can read it as I'm not 19 any more)
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out!!!

Let me see if I am understanding this correctly, you create a PSD file at 300dpi, then you save this and reopen on your computer and it is still 300dpi, then you send this file as a psd to your client, and they open it and tell you that it is only 72dpi, then they send the same file back to you and it is at 300dpi on your computer again.
Are you sending the file via email, cd or flash drive?
Is the file sent in its raw psd state or is it being compressed with .zip, or .sit or anything like that?
Could you send me the file so I can confirm if the file is indeed 72dpi.
Otherwise this sounds like almost impossible behaviour to me.

  • Print image file with at least 150 DPI

Happy NI Week everyone!  I couldn't make it this year, but I am working to encourage the pruchase of lots of NI hardware.
We know about printing the front panel of a VI as a quick and somewhat dirty way to generate a report.  I know DIAdem would be the superior solution here, but I wonder if there's a middle ground.  Recently, a customer requested some minor changes to an application and one of the requests was to "clean up" the way their logo looks on a printout.  They supplied us with a high resolution version of their logo, and we tried converting it to various formats before pasting it on the front panel, but the printout seems to always be rather blocky and low resolution looking.  My thought is that the front panel is rendered at 72 DPI (dots-per-inch) and the data sent to the printer is at that resolution.  I know we can save an image of a front panel.  So what I would like to do is make an oversized front panel, save it as an image file, and print that image file at 150 or 300 DPI.
So the question is:  How do I print an image file at a different DPI than what it was originally saved with?  What is a good method to print image files for that matter?
    Thanks,

    Hi Photon Dan,
Here is a possible solution. It requires some photo editing. You could take a normal screen shot of your front panel and then import it into a photo editor such as IrfanView. From that point you could resize the image and make it very large. This will make the image quality very poor. At this point you could import the high resolution image from your client and paste it over the poor quality image in the screen shot. Then resize it back to its normal size. You should then be able to select what DPI you would like to print it at and will have a high quality logo. Lots of photo editing but it could give you what you want.

  • Why did I get 72 dpi solutions in AI CS5 instead of 300 dpi in Photoshop CS5!

    Dear all!
I have done my file in Photoshop with 300 dpi. I have finished it and then saved it as EPS because I would like to open it in my AI CS5.
So I go to File>Open the EPS File in AI CS5. I get it with 72 dpi file in AI CS5 when I check the resolution in Effect>Documents Raster Effects Settings. Why did I get 72 dpi file in AI CS5 instead of the original file which is really 300 dpi in Photoshop?
Will it change the quality if I change from 72 dpi to 300 dpi as I wish to in the Documents Raster Effects Settings?
Please help to explain in details if possible.
Thanks a lot and best wishes.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
    My best regards,
    LUCK

    Luck,
To see the use the raster image in its right size along with other objects, scale it (down) to match. To go from 72 to 300 PPI you need a factor of 0.24 (proportionally), you may use multiplication by 0.24 in the Transform panel or Object>Transform>Scale with 24% .
It means I must change resolutions in Document Raster Effects Settings if I have effects raster effects created within Illustrator. Is it right?
If (and only) if you wish to have the effects at the same resolution as (one of) the raster image(s). This will depend of the actual effect, but for many effects, yes (you will have to choose one resolution if the document contains more than one).
Illy always sees raster images at 72 PPI, unless she is told otherwise.

  • Ai file to png

    Hi,
How can I convert ai files to png and change the color before?
    thank you

Well, the best way would to do it in Illustrator and export from there.... Otherwise you can of course recolor the rasterized result in Photoshop, but you will have to provide more specific information about what you exactly need to do...

  • Problem in converting Word Document into PDF after inserting EMF file

    Hi
I have VB 6.0 program, which automatically inserts an EMF file in to MS-Word and converts it in to Post Script file and finally to PDF.
But the Size of the generated PDF file is too large i.e., 8MB
If am inserting an .PNG file in MS-Word and conveting it in to Post Script and finally in to PDF, the size of PDF file is somewhere around 330KB.
I am using Acrobat Distiller 6.0 for this conversion
Can any one let me how I can reduce the file size of PDF, if I insert an EMF file.
    Thanks in Advance
    Vijay Kumar

Saying a WMF file does not mean much. It could be a bitmap with 2400dpi or a vector graphic. WMF and EMF are wrappers that can include both. You may be best to open the WMF in PhotoShop or Illustrator and see if you can get a consistent size, possibly doing a copy and paste to WORD.

  • How do I create a 300 dpi PDF from a Word 2003 file?

I need to convert a Word (2003) file to a High-res PDF file for the printers. They have requested 300 dpi.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (trial version).
The file contains a number of pictures in jpg format. Most of these are pretty high resolution. The document printed in Word on a laser printer looks fine.
I did try saving the file a a PDF file, and that did work, however it was low resolution. There must be some settings I have to change. How do I set things so it will creat a high resolution PDF file?

There is no such thing as resolution of a PDF file. Text and vectors in PDF are preserved and get scaled depending on the device on which PDF is shown.
Images in PDF do have a resolution that you can set when creating PDF. When printing your file from Word:
    After File>Print, select printer properties.
In "ADobe PDF Settings" tab, you will see "Default Settings" - click the Edit button next to it.
In the Images pane, select your desired resolution.

  • Exporting file as png and choosing its dpi and image size

    Hi Everyone,
I was encountering some problem when I export my art work in png format. My canvas size was 100 pixels by 100 pixels, color mode: CMYK, and 300 dpi. I tried to export it using “Save for web and device”, but the png file turned out to be 100 x100 pixels and 72 dpi. Then, I tried using “Export”, and checked the use art board option, and chose 300 dpi, but the file turns out to be 416 x 416 and 300 dpi, which is also not what I wanted. I'm sure there's some way to get what I want but I just can't seem to get it right. Does anyone know how I can achieve this ? I really appreciate your help!!
    ps. I'm using CS5
    Thank you!!!

    Hi Mylenium,
Thanks for taking your time and replying. I'm actually trying to submit my art work for a competition, which requires the art work to be in CMYK mode, and 300 dpi, png file. I worked on my stuff in photoshop, but photoshop won't let me save png files in CMYK mode, so I saved it in a jpg file, 300 dpi. I then opened AI, set the color mode/file size/ dpi, paste the jpg file in and try to export it, and I can't figure out where I mess things up. Do you have any idea where i could possibly mess things up?
    Thank you!!

  • Converting jpeg to 300 dpi

I have to convert an jpeg to 300 dpi to send to an company to print my pictures. please help me out.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It all depends on the print size what the dpi will be. First crop the picture to the size that's to be printed. Say an 8x10. That will require a pixel dimension of 2400 x 3000 pixels.
Read The Myth of DPI to get an understanding of the relationship between print size and print resolution (dpi).
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.
